Desynthing silver rings is pretty horrible if your not above the items cap. And if your still above it slightly I would look into desynthing lower like brass. The HQ teirs don't seem to apply to desynthing. I'm 51 +1 GS which makes me 20 above cap and I HQ2 like crazy ( 2 ingots). I will get HQ1 animation and still recieve only 1. I remember trying at early 40's and getting not so good results. However desynthing is all about quantity. The more the better.

Like OP said Gems by Kshama is a great place. However if your First in Conquest get to the jewelry place next to GS guild. For me they are 100g cheaper a piece then Jueno and I can get Synth support.

These along with mythril earrings and silver earrings can be bought in the jewelry shop in lower jeuno known as Jems by Kshama, located at H-9. There are also jewels like lapis lazui, tourmaline, light opal, onyx, etc there so if you are skilling up goldsmithing I suggest you go there. The prices are much cheaper than the guild's.
And ztj, I suggest that you synthesize these and then desynthesize them and reuse the silver ignots that way. Yes you can still skill up if you desynth them, however desynthesis has a much lower success rate at lower levels then regular synthesis so watch out. You can desynth these with a lightning crystal.

at the guild recipy, it says capped at lvl 30 so if i keep desyth it, will i skill up to lvl 30? im 27 atm, can some1 verifed this please
Horlais Peak pond, composite rod, rogue rig (maybe robber...whichever of the two only gets items...), Moghancement: Fishing. Was level 20 fisherman. If you are high enough level Smith, just take a couple of stacks of lightening crystals with you, and replace them with stacks of silver ingots when the day/moon etc. is to your liking. Good luck from a retired fisherman. (Of course, you can pay 1250 for one from Gem Shop, Lower Jeuno, unless you are a penny pincher like I was for a while...)

for the record these can be fished out of the bay in mhaura at any fishing skill lvl i was getting a lot between 0 and 5 though

I saw silver rings once at the goldsmithing guild (Teerth) on Kujata. I havent seen them since though. anyone know where i can buy them?
Desynth with lightning crystals like all things. Normal split makes 1 ingot, HQ split makes 1 ingot, HQ2 split makes 2. I've done hundreds of these and haven't ever gotten 3 so I doubt that's possible.
you can't get 3 you can only get 2. This is because it took 2 ingots to make it. Just like it takes 1 ingot to make hairpins so you can only get 1 back.

I fished up one of these in Mhaura today, I was a little surprised!
Earlier I watched a a level 40-50 mage who desythesized one of them with a lightning crystal. Unfortunately I didn't talk to him about his smithing level.

I have heard you can buy these from Carmelide (Bastok Markets)-Shop next to Guild. I have never seen them there. But on Titan Bastok is usually in 3rd place... Can anyone verify this?

It's Raghd, the lady next to Carmelide, and Bastok has to be in 1st place I think (don't remember seeing them when Bastok is in 2nd).

yes these can be fished, your best bet to finding them from what Ive seen is fishing in small ponds and fountais (like those in Windurst) but I owuld bet they can be gotten all over. my friends goten 2 in windurst and 2 in mhuara

These can be fished. Caught 3 of these so far in Mhaura. Not sure about other locations.
