Possible activation of latent
# Sep 05 2006 at 2:40 AM Rating: Decent
For StrydrOnAsura wondering about the latent, there's a message posted under the Primate Staff saying that you need to eat pamamas for the latent to kick in. Don't know if it is the same for this one or not.

About the Enhancements
# Sep 12 2005 at 5:12 PM Rating: Decent
Umm...just wondering, but if you run out of enchantment charges on this thing, does it change back into a Primate Staff or something?

Sorry, I'm sort of a newb with the new enchantment items.

Something fishy is going on with Ifrit server:

Primate Staff is selling slowly for 400k
But Kinkobo is selling like hotcakes for 50k

Any idea why?

Primate Staff is used to synth Kinokobo , which is Woodworking 100+ so I'm guessing some people use it for skilling up their Woodworking.

Because the one for 350k less has the same stats.

Just found it... you have to eat Pamamas (same as to activate the latent on the Opo-opo Crown) according to this link:

Member of my LS wanted to know what activated the effect, looked it up here, saw "Pamama Tart." Told him that and he tried it himself. Works :) Thanks for posting the info^^
101 on the 101?
# Mar 22 2005 at 6:38 PM Rating: Default
even if there WAS a lvl 101, youd be unable to attain it unless they have increased the amount of points that u get post-60 for ur crafts 60+40=100 so then <um...> @.@ /confused
RE: 101 on the 101?
# Mar 30 2005 at 3:50 PM Rating: Decent
The 101 is correct, It means that you can skill up to 100 with this item. Also with 100 skill level and all +1 gear you can have 103 skill. Therefore you have better chance of not failing with synthing gear and 100 skill level, whereas at 100 skill it is still above your crafting level. Hope this helps.

The 101 is correct,
The only way to test this as being true (not just possible) is to have the equivalent of 100 skill through gear BUT NOT ACTUALLY 100 base skill. i.e. 99 +1 skill, and you get a skillup on this item.

Whether or not you can skill-up on something is based on your base skill in comparison to the skill required, not your "total skill level" (which is base plus any gear or support).

Umm, considering you don't get skillups on failuers until 5 levels below, a 101/102/103 synth means you can't get skillup on failure til 96/97/98, rather than 95.

I would guess the 101 cap was figured out because you cant craft any recepie 11(is that the right number?) levels below the cap, so just try at 90 and see if it says synthisis is too advanced

Who cares if it's a 101 recipy, you can synth stuff 10 levels below, you might fail, but there's almost no chance of failing if you're Lv.100 Alchemy, and if you're Lv.100 Alchemy, you probably have the Alchemy+ gear so...

dont you mean woodworking, rather then alchemy?

just a thought

Edit: Looks like they fixed this entery while I was away. so my prior statement seems out of place.

The max for a craft is 100. But im pretty sure you can get 100+2 or 3 with the Carpenter's Apron and Gloves. Not sure if there is any head wear for Woodworking though
