ok i am confused on something, currently i am leveling puppet solo and being i am level 58 i do not have my evasion capped (its my first job to 75) with that being said, i will most likely not see my cap for a long long time, are these good for me? does it just raise the cap or does it give you the skill and raise the cap? how does this thing work?
No proof that this is better than dodge earring.
# Apr 28 2008 at 9:41 AM Rating: Decent
There is absolutely no research done to show that evasion skill +3 on evasion earring is better than evasion +3 on dodge earring. It's all just useless conjecture from people trying to justify an overpriced purchase.

However there is research done on how skill in a weapon such as dagger skill affects accuracy in relation to accuracy + gear. Every additional point in weapon skill over 200 base skill equates to +0.9 accuracy. Every point of accuracy from gear always equates to +1 accuracy. If evasion can be assumed to work similarly, adding evasion skill at greater than 200 base evasion skill is actually not as productive as adding +1 evasion from gear, such as from dodge earring.

At 75, dodge earring is actually a better evasion equip than evasion earring for most jobs if all this is true. There's no research done to show that this is true but it's more plausable than saying that evasion skill is necessarily better than evasion from gear when there is no proof or similar circumstance to justify that either.

Having Capped merits tells you one thing going above the capped is a big difference so this earing basically is giving you a full lvl advantage on evasion compared to the mob you are fighting. So if exping on lvl 52 mobs and you are a 52 nin its the same has having base evasion of a 53 nin which is a nice advantage. Still very expensive on fairy but a nice piece of gear if you have the cash.

No cap on eva

I am a 75 thief with tons of normal eva+ gear. My evasion is capped and meritted once. If I do NOT wear any normal eva+ gear, I can 100% see the difference.

Normal evasion+ gear does not raise you to your cap then stops, it keeps adding. I know this for a fact!!! I have Scorpion Harness, Optical Hat, Dance Shoes, 2 Elusive Earrings, and maybe some more stuff I can't think of right now and I know if I don't wear it all, I get hit a LOT more.

So now that that's out of the way, I am still considering whether or not evasion skill+3 or just evasion+5 from the elusive's is better. When I wear my Master Caster's Mitts for eva skill+10, I can really see the difference so am considering this earring for the skill+.

Sorry for the long post. Yes, I have done my research.

My Static ENM group just got this earring on asura. We do all 3 ENMs in one run to make it somewhat time efficient. We ended up only having 5 of us on holla which was our last run, but these fights are a joke so I thought we'd have no problem. Then when we got to the top the other war/nin had forgotten her key item to get into the fight lol.

Anyway, we whooped his *** with 4 of us the party was war/nin, whm/blm, blm/whm, and drk/thf. we used a total of 2 anima also even tho we had more. After our drk clicks the thing and poof we get the item for this earring.

We were all very stoked, cuz we're happy to just do these, or at least I am, so that I don't have to spend as much time lvling my sub in lower lvl parties. So that's nice, plus the fact that we finally got our first vision after fighting 5 other ENMs and it was the jackpot drop :).

You could easily beat this ENM with 3 people if you wanted to. For those people looking to try and get this earring This is what I'd do. Get 6 total people together, friends would be best so there's no bickering, and go out and get all 3 anima for everyone just in case you need xtras. Then head to the top with the 6 people. I would recommend this party setup, war/nin, war/nin, whm/blm, whm/blm, blm/whm, blm/whm. When you get to the top split into 2 parties and fight with 3 people :). It can easily be done especially if you have 3 anima ea, because these fights are rediculously easy. By splitting into 2 groups, you have double the chance of getting the drops. Don't forget your poison potions and holy water for the fight too though.

Good Luck

These look like a good pair of earings indeed. Would be a nice reward to get from an ENM-30.

This earring is much better than Elusive. It raises your evasion max skill by 3 points.

Seriously some dumb people post here. Actually LOOK at the earing before you post please. These give evasion SKILL +3 NOT evasion+3. there is a differene. Not only is this better than a dodge earing, its probably better than an elusive. only 300k on Leviathen but also only 5 ever sold
#rfolkker, Posted: Apr 15 2005 at 9:31 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why in the name of all things sane would anyone pay 300+k for something that you can get for 80-100k and 6 lvls earlier???

Please people, check out what best helps your job and buy that. I currently am not wearing anything that is above lvl 30 (and I am lvl 40) simply because, for how I use my character there is nothing better yet. And my equipt barely hits 1 million gil (and that is only because I have an Emp Hairpin). Decide what is best for your character, not what is more expensive. I am sorry, but I am done partying with n00bish ppl who even though may have high lvl jobs, have NO FREAKING CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!

Again, Dodge earrings=100k, Evasion earrings=1 million gil, you decide...

Jus a word of advise, before you start bashing people, DO YOUR RESEARCH and find out WHY it is so expensive. This far outweighs dodge and holds close first place with elusive ....

I understand fully about the price for Ninja EQ, and how some 'n00b' Nin's tend to buy overpriced stuff, that are either 'status' symbols, or are worthless to their playing style. Truth be told, we all play differently, and only on rare occassions do we have the right to trash how another is decked out, or what equipment they have on. To rebuttle what you say about about what is good about Okote, it's very simple, +20atk to some Nin, are very worthwhile, I know I personally use them, but I also have roughly +17agi and lots of +Eva, so I can stand to take a -5eva hit, hell I could even be 'capped' in my Evasion, as the rumor goes Evasion can be 'capped' to a certain amount, to where additional Evasion, will do little, to nothing, this is akin to the Paladin's plight after they hit let's say 60+ of Defense Vs Vit. But I digress, the Okote help to do a bit more dmg, which if you're having trouble keeping hate, allows you to **** off the monster more with higher dmg overall, and thus allows you to lose hate a little bit less. Now Sniper Rings, are a godsend to most Nin's, at least those who want to hit... +10acc is good to have, what's better (for those who play like me ^^;) is it also has +10ranged acc, which means our Shuriken will be hitting more often (god knows we miss enough with them) which means you'll be doing higher dmg again keeping more hate. I have counted several times I have killed the exp mob with a shuriken doing roughly 60dmg (this was Juji in Yhoator, and in Altepa). I do agree after a certain level, the Shuriken seem to slope off in terms of damage, and you need to upgrade, but even I will admit a Shuriken using DS even if you can craft it, is insanely expensive. In summation, the 3 items you said go together very well +10acc to help hit with the +20atk, I see nothing wrong with a Ninja doing that, I do that myself. Now if you don't have the money, then I HIGHLY suggest you spend it on what all nin's need - Ninja Tools.

Now onto the reason I stopped reading the rest and decided to respond to your spastastic post ^^;

You say for people to please check out what best helps their job, that in itself is an invalid point, b/c it truly relies on their playing style, an Elvaan Nin would (in theory) most likely play differently than say, a Mithra, or a Taru Nin. So you cannot tell people to cater their gear specifically to their job, it must be to their style as well. I personally would not buy a ton of AGI-DEX-EVA if I found I was doing fine with Shadows and evasion. Then again I'm a Hume, so I don't have horrible dex/agi as Elvaan do (not trashing, just stating the difference ^^) but I wouldn't go as STR and ATK happy as a Mithra who has very good dex/agi, but poor strength. We typically pick our races to cater our playing styles, or just how we like to look. ^_~ But to the point that matters about the statement of how you think a Ninja would have to be insane to buy Evasion Earring over Dodge. Evasion Earrings add to your Evasion Skill, not to the unseen number of Evasion. Take it like this, each time around this lvl range, we lvl up, our A skills go up 3pts. leaving it to be leveled up, until it caps again, and we (we being Ninja's) use +Evasion to hit the absolute cap allowed for max Evasion so we're always able to Evade as much as possible. But raising the skill prematurely with say, an item would make your pure Evasion Skill (and the amount of +Evasion your character can currently cap at) an entire level higher. Still with me? Good. Now that means pure and simple, that you will have the Evasion Skill of a regular Ninja one level higher than you yet you will be fighting mobs that will still check at IT to you, thus you'll get the same EXP, but you won't get hit as much allowing for more +Evasion items, and overall making you evade more, use less shadows, get healed less, and basically just do what Ninja's do, slap the monster, dodge it, slap it again, keeping it pissed off in a cycle of slapping and dodging. If you want to know why Ninja's keep such good hate that way, think of how you've felt when somebody smacked you, and you attempted to hit them, but missed, and they would slap you again, and just repeat that process about 100x and see how pissed off you are. ^____^;
