Is carmin another name for red?
I turned in a Gray chip and got 500gil AND the key item needed. I didnt mind the low gil return, just wanted to get it done quickly and solo so I went to the Tower at F-7 where Nue spawns... it's uncapped and the diremites that drop gray chip are TW to 75. The Diremite Assaulter(sp)(?) checked as EP to 75. First kill on diremite dropped gray chip and lizard blood... got a florid stone from diremite Assaulter(?)

i was told if i get one of the harder chips that i will get more money from the NPC and then get the key idem help me out and what should a pld bring to this BCNM fight
The best place to get these solo is in Bahamut's tower (Beaucedine I-7). Just follow the spiral path around the center and take all the elevators and you'll run across about 6 Snow Lizard spawns as opposed to the 2 in the Promyvion tower. If you have enough manpower to take the Frost Lizards (tough @ 75), then the Promyvion tower is fine since there are plenty of those there.

On Snow Lizards with no TH, the drop rate on this chip is horrible, I've been killing lizards for hours and no drop. However, a group I saw went 1/1 on a chip from the harder lizards (Frost), so if you're having a hard time getting this chip for 6-4, make a party and kill Frost Lizards unless you can solo DC-EMs.

Just confirming, these Carmine Chips do drop off the Frost Lizards down in Pso'Xja. We got 4 tonight. 3 off Frost Lizards and 1 off a Snow Lizard.
Along with the cyan and gray chips, all 3 chips are traded into Cid during CoP 6-4 to receive a CCB Polymer, which is used to aid in the BC battle against the Omega/Ultima weapons (I believe it temporarily stops them from spamming their fairly evil WS).
Snow Lizards drop the Carmine chip.
Diremite Assaulters drop the Gray Chip, like all the diremites in pso'xja do.
Both are found in the F7 tower in Beaucedine (popularly known as Nue's tower).

These are dropped off of Diremite Assaulters in the uncapped portion of Pso'Xja.
You get to this area via the tower at F-7 in Beaucedine Glacier.
Diremite Assaulters are found on the second floor down. Go in and find a hole to drop down. Make sure you have sneak becuase there are bats here that will aggro you. Diremite Assaulters were VT to me at 62.
Also you have to have one for each party member to trade to get the Pso'Xja pass. Every member needs to have the pass to get access to The Shrowded Maw BCNM zone.

The Carmine Chip drops off Snow Lizards in Pso'Xja.
I dont know exactly what level they were but I did fight them for exp as a party in the 61-65 range I believe.
This Chip is used in CoP Mission 3-5 "Darkness Named"
Ghebi Damomohe at the Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno asks you to retrieve a Carmine, Gray, Or Cyan chip from Pso'Xja.
Trading this or one of the other 2 chips to Ghebi will get you the key item "Pso'Xja Pass" which will allow to progress deeper in Pso'Xja than previously allowed.
