i just bought this sword for 300k and i dont regret it one bit! i just did 800 damage vorpal blade on an orc in lufaise meadows!
The best part of Final Fantasy XI is its rich storyline. It separates this game from other MMORPGs. I chose to give my character a storyline that goes along with the game's storyline. I find that this is a more fun way to play the game. Playing the game just to fight in the endgame and collect elite equipment is very boring and is totally missing the main objective of the game, which is to guide your character through the storyline which is to save the world.

I used to have this sword, I am rank 10 in all nations, have an opo crown and used a royal omelette. People are stupid. This sword has no latent effect. The reason why its probably called the princely sword is because it does a lot of damage and it doesnt put hate on the "prince".
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 05 2006 at 7:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've also heard from reliable sources that the stats switch when you are Sandoria rank 10. Some LSmates and I plan on checking out the validity of that.
Opo-opo crown

Has anyone tried using this sword with an Opo-opo crown equipped while eating a pamama? It seems obvious to me that this sword has some kind of unlockable hidden effect like the opo-opo crown. The stats are just shouting "hidden effect". Maybe that's why it's called "Princely" because you have to be wearing a crown.

Teddy, you may have some work ahead of you... but 1K numbers are doable indeed.

Vorpal Blade
4 Hit WS with possibilities of double attacking within the WS
With /nin you get the extra 5th hit every time but you also give up double attack/berserk
Stat Mod:30%STR
fTP Multiplier:1
TP's effect: Higher chance to critical within the WS.

Whether it's 100% Vorpal Blade or 300% Vorpal Blade... you very well can do the same damage against a monster at either TP count. It's just that it's more "likely" to hit for all criticals with more TP.

Rather than rehashing a lot of the same info though, I'll refer you to:

The stats are reversed when you are rank 10 sandoria. It is because you help the elvann 'prince'.

I saw this on bahamut in rolenberry fields for 5 million gil. Good deal, too bad I couldn't afford it.

Um, no. I have it, and I'm Rank 10 in San d'Oria. (And in case it's because I'm Bastok-10 and Windurst-10, I had a LS mate who's never switched nations and began in Sandy test it out, and no stat change for him, either.)

Perhaps being Elvaan has something to do with it? Furthermore, has anyone tried this in conjunction with eating a San d'Orian/Royal Omelette? (to extrapolate on somebody's previous Opo-opo crown theory)

Just tried it with Royal Omelette.
Nothing changed.
Seriously, it is what it is. A mediocre DD sword.

Just recently aquired this on Sylph. VERY VERY nice sword. single handed I still prefer the Joyeuse in most situations. But PLD/NIN its Princely/Joyeuse all the way. You will see a defenite difference in your WS dmg with the high base and +4STR. 1000dmg+ Vorpal Blades all the time (Do you need it?)

Soil Gorget FTW lol.

The only time i prefer this over a joytoy single handed is when mobs do def+ moves and the joyeuse WS turn to crap. Bust this out and watch it eat the mob alive.

This sword IMO 'could' be more useful than some make it out to be. You could melee against ground HNMs with this sword if you were not the primary tank you could cast Flash with little worry of grabbing hate.

Just seems to me that this sword screams flash spammer with little to no worry of pulling hate. Maybe sub rdm job for fast cast and have someone haste/refresh you for increased Flash casts... could be a primary task /shrug.

Or maybe I'm out of my mind and there's no point to do this /shrug

This is the best damage sword out there
# Jul 18 2005 at 8:48 AM Rating: Decent
If I would have all my HNM gear already, I would buy this baby, but this is only a toy. Unless a Rare/Ex sword exist that I didn't see, this sword has the best damage of them all. And to top it of it gives +4STR. I don't care what you guys think but with this and Joyeuse in off hand, PLD / NIN would just be too great. Good for Ballista / Solo / and any other time you are not tanking.

If the sword price drops enough, you can be sure I'll buy it ^^

Edit: I'm sure it doesn't have any hidden effect. That would be too good to be true.

We just got one from the BC99 Turtle, trying to figure out if there is a hidden effect - rumour is there is a way to reverse the stats. No change in stats when my HP goes down, even to red. Some people think maybe if you eat certain food, like with primate staff/opo-opo crown and pammamas, but I have no idea what food to try...

RE: Hidden effect

hidden effect- take up inventory space

its a good weapon! thats for sure- but... its also an expensive weapon, that doesnt have much application in exp parties.

its really awsome for:
times when you arent main tank

Company sword is good too and cheap- only like 500k on caitsith
-- but you can use company sword in:
(you dont even need PT memebrs for company sword to be a good main hander)

so people who can afford princelly sword, also probably have a company sword (and probably a joyeuse as well) so the princelly sword ends up taking up space a lot of the time

--company sword sells fast if u ever find you dont want it- and the AH posting fee is cheap
--princelly sword sells hella slow- and the AH posting fee adds up after your 4th repost

of course, if you want it- buy it- form only follows function if you want it to

actually this sword is not bad..but not UBER like maybe some ppl think. sure, the high dmg + STR+2 makes this sword worthfull to have...but only for farming,or NMs where u dont have to tank !
on this lvl, keeping hate is not so easy, even with like +12 enmity ( ok,when the DD in ure PT suck so much its not hard ). so if u loose 6 enmity,it will make be damn hard to keep hate good. the less VIT and CHR...well..its not so much, thats not too bad.
if ure looking for a good dmg sword get an Espadon,or Hrotti imo.

Makes sense.

The common stereotype of a prince is that they are somewhat disliked and pansies, thus the - chr and vit, yet people can't get mad at them as they are royalty. Anger + royalty = beheading (thus the enmity -)

It may be paladin only but i'm willing to guess you don't see many paladins using it.
