i was just screwin around swaping weapons and i noticed that you still get a bonus of some sort with 100+ tp. but not as much as below 100 tp.

with hagun my ATT was 364
with onimaru 100 tp was 374
with onimaru 0 TP was 382

hagun still owns for EXP but this is good for soloing or gods

I don't know if you know this but the game takes away the TP you have before the WS so that means that when you WS you will actually have the latent up...just saying in case anyone didn't know that : )

Damage on a weapon shouldn't affect your attack rating. Try equiping a level 1 GK and see, your attack rating shouldn't change.

Are you serious?! lol everytime i go to check my attack and i have warp cudgel on instead of regular weapon i notice the difference in attack... i can't believe you actually think if you use a lv 1 weapon you'll have the same attack

You may have the same att+ with your gear choice, but your att definatly goes down when with a lower lv weapon, thus why we buy new weapons...

Nobody is ever going to read this here, I'm sure, but I had to reply nonetheless.

Your attack rating goes down when using a Warp Cudgel because your job's skill cap with a club is significantly lower than whatever your main weapon choice is. It's based off of your STR and your weapon caps, not the level of the weapon.

My attack with an Onion Dagger is the same as it is with my Harpe.

Latent on this 1 is active as long as u have under 100tp. When u get above 100tp the DMG decreases
ok
# Jul 05 2006 at 1:37 AM Rating: Decent
ok if any reads this post but i'm assuming i must have done over 500 ws cause my attacks are way stronger then before, but all the other 500 plus latent breaks are rare exclusive so i'm really sure maybe if i can find a samurai with the same stats as i do and compre cause on vt mobs i hit 100+ most of the time
(Hmmmm.)
# Apr 17 2006 at 1:33 PM Rating: Decent
i too noticed more evaded attack by mobs using aoe, more parry more criticals but that stuff can be luck realted, but i have noticed that meditate gives me only 80tp not sure if this is correct
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 09 2007 at 5:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Meditate only gives you 80...

I have a very strong feeling that this is going to go up in price dramatically very soon. Maneater for example was only a few hundred K and now is 1.7mil here on Ramuh. Everyone with sub /war that isnt going for hagun is going to want this I can see becoming very expensive in the near future. (bought mine for 15k 11/19/2005)

Actually, "-maru" is, in that context, just an affectionate modifier that doesn't really translate to anything. So it'd just mean "demon". Of course, this assumes that the character used for the "-maru" is the same one as is normally used for that modifier...

Besides the hidden +18 Attack and +5 Accuracy it yields when below 100% TP, I've also noticed the following things:

1) I parry a hell of a lot more with this GTK than with anything else. I've actually parried HNMs and VT/IT mobs with this.

2) I evade a hell of a lot more too.

3) I also evade status effects more.

So I'm leading to believe that this enhances all of our job traits somehow.

For instance, I too noticed I was evading Plague from Buffalo in Uleguerand, while everyone else was walking away plagued.

Again, I parry MUCH more noticably since using it. I'll give you a hint, I parry maybe once or twice in an exp party with Kamewari. With Onimaru, it's once a fight.

I've evaded AoEs from Weapons much more, as well as normal attacks from mobs I've never really been able to evade before. My evasion is capped for my level, yet with Onimaru I evade much more than usual.

I double attack more with Onimaru, and Zanshin more with Onimaru. These are some odd hidden effects indeed. This leads me to believe that Onimaru is probably better than people understand.

This has some merit... I'm in a level 73 EXP PT right now, and Greater Colibri are missing me almost every time they try to hit me.
more than one hidden effect?
# Aug 14 2005 at 11:29 PM Rating: Decent
For starters, I'd like to start off confirming the additional attack just from equiping this gkt, but it is triggers below 100%TP I can't confirm the 1% crit rate, as I don't know how you see a definitive number in game. I call this the first hidden effect.

I believe there is a second hidden effect, but I only saw this when I first equipped and was using weaponskills. I don't remember if there was any addition to my attack when I equiped it as I was more concerned with was a japanese told me. Which was the hidden effect of +4 Str and +22 attack triggered by use of a WS. I saw this, but only maybe the first day I had it equiped. I've been trying to figure out the conditions exactly ever since, but I haven't found anything. Perhaps I was hallucinating, perhaps not. Anyone heard more about this?

Onimaru:
DMG:77 Delay:450
Latent effect: DMG:83
Lv.73 SAM

Latent is triggered @ 100+ tp
2 hidden effects:
1) atk+18 under 100tp, atk+10 @ 100+tp
2) critical hit rate +1%

PS: this Gkatana owns, i believe this is a way better than both Kamewari and Ushikirimaru.

u basically get +1 dmg, +10 atk and -2str in ws compared to ushikirimaru, but i think it's worth hit, im doing a lotta more critical hits with onimaru.
yep
# May 11 2005 at 1:40 PM Rating: Decent
I have this GK i can confirm there is a "HIDDEN" effect other than the latent effect displayed

under100TP I DO Get an additional 8-10atk,
above100TP its back to normal

I know this is true, cuz while having it equipped in jeuno

my attack was reading 392, when i meditated to 100, and checkdd again when it reached 100TP, it read like 384

done this numerous

and it seems that latent effect of the actual 83dmg kicks in often(mayb aabove 100tP?) idk but w/e it is, i know it kicks cuz compareing how hard i have hit with Hagun and the Onimaru is a big difference

i have critical for 300points of damage with the oni, regular hits for 230-250 on TW, in ballista, i hit for like 150-190 with this thing

I have this GK and under 100% TP my attack is increased by 18 normally, but more when Im using food/berserk/warcry. When I have over 100% TP attack goes back to normal. It seems like the latent effect of the DMG=83 kicks in once TP is past 100%, my ws hit harder when Im using this GK than my Kamewari. Just what I think

Does anyone know how to activate the latent?
RE: Latent

Like with the Hagun and Hachiman set its latent power comes out once you have 100% TP +

I'm gonna have to disagree with you. I have this GKT and from checking my ATTK before and after i get 100tp...I have more attk without 100tp, after 100 I noticed it went down. But on a side note I definately believe there is a hidden effect to this GKT.

For example: the night I got it, I went to ballista. I was resisting every Sleep, Bind, Blind, Paralyze the opposing team was casting on me. I was absolutely amazed...it took their bard to use lullaby on me to put me to sleep. Also noticed when solo'n Buffalo i would resist Plague 1/3 times compared to my mage friends.

If anyone has anymore info on this GKT please let me know :). Other than what i stated, its the sexiest looking GKT i've ever seen, I will try to post pics soon.

Damage on a weapon shouldn't affect your attack rating. Try equiping a level 1 GK and see, your attack rating shouldn't change.

The latent effect is triggered when you have less then 100% TP.

Nice thing about the Onimaru is that it actually increases your Attack so it mush have some hidden STR modifiers.

Buy it and you will see. I am 100% sure that is what activates this latent effect. Under 100%tp you have the latent. 100%tp + you lose it. And yes it would change the ATTK that you have being that it jumps from being a DMG 83 to a DMG 77 GKT.

actually, he's right. your attack stat doesn't change depending on the damage of the weapon you use. take any 2 GKT without +str on them, and your attack will be the same with both. i've noticed before when equipping my AF GKT i've had more attack (because of the +str on it) but there's no way in hell it matches the damage of a kazaridachi now. =P

that is, unless, there's a hidden latent effect of +str on this sword, your attack won't change when you have less than or more than 100% TP

Yes you are correct get two reg GKT with no STR+ or anything and your attk will stay the same. That is why I believe there to be hidden effects on this GKT. I can't put my finger on it. But I assure you that when under 100%TP I have higher attk than when I reach 100%TP. As I said before if you are doubtful, ask someone on your server who has it, or even better. Buy it...Try it...Believe it! Here are a couple of pics with me after getting the GKT.
