I was leveling bst here and thought I'd skill up some scythe skill on a few shadows before I logged. First kill got ingot. I would say it's not that hard to get this drop. I didn't even know about the quest so yeah you can get it and not be on the quest or anything. As far as key goes that I would say is very rare. We leveled in fei'yin for 3 days for over 5 hours a night and got one key which dropped to my duo partner.
15 kills so far no drop. :x

wtf is the ignot for i got it like 10000 times while lookin for key for tele scroll quest and i just throw it away its so easy to get the drop O.o;;

First kill drops... I guess this is the only luck i will be allowed for approx 3 years, good luck to you -_-
Took me about 30-40 shadow kills to get this drop (without any TH).

I don't know how *rare it is to get this drop. After killing mobs in Fei'Yin for 3 hours - all 3 of us in the party got our own ingot but none of us got the key! ><
I can confirm that you don't need this quest started to obtain the drop, it's just pretty rare. This dropped off a shadow while I was looking for Fei'Yin's chest key, go figure.
Just make sure you know what you're in for, these things love to spam Dimensional Death. Anyone who did WHM AF1 can rest easy though, it's *nowhere* near as powerful as that blasted Marchelute's.
I was taking them down with little effort with a lv 55 PLD/WAR friend and me as a 54WHM/BLM, and we killed around 30 before it dropped. Figures it'd drop before the key.

Folks, you do not need to go to Fei'yin to get these. I was in Yughott Grotto killing orcs and got one of these Treasury Gold ingots. I know its the same one cause I looked at my TV screen to read what it said and compared it to the name and description of this item on my computer. They are one and the same. I used the upper north entrance to the grotto in Ghelsba Fort which is behind a tent. Its the one where all the orcs are the kazham airship key mobs. They were dropping Cathedral Tapestry, and these gold ingots. So you don't have to go to Fei'yin to kill shadows, you can get them easier in Yughott Grotto. :)

Actually, I havent found this to be too rare. I did a whm af run there and we had to kill it 3 times. We killed only the shadows in the room (2 or 3 of em after each af kill) and got 50% drop for the ingot. Still havent used it yet though.

I got the drop yesterday without having the quest flagged. I was in an alliance helping with WHM AF3, so someone in the group may hve had quest activated.
Does anyone know if you can get the drop before getting to the point in the quest where you need it?
Nevermind, just got it on 2nd kill. So it is possible. :)
