there seems to be alot of stories going back and forth on how to get this +1 dream hat could some one please give some information about this please it is starting to get confusing...and does anyone else know if there will be any other things being done during this celebration[/Black]
Okay, I just got my Dream Hat +1. It took me about 18 hours with max Joy fame. Also I don't think its necessary to have the Tree from your home nation so long as you have "A" tree set up in your mog house. I'm Bastokan and have all three trees in my house, but the moogle told me the present came out from under the Windurstian Tree.
Finally, the number of Ginger Cookies you get each day from the hat seems to be random. I used it and got three cookies myself. Very good for a blm like me ^^

Ok, I am on Diabolos and I got my dream hat +1 tonite with only a tad bit amount of fame. From what me and my LS think, it's not a set amount of fame, but a random amount based on each person. So for those of you who are spending tons of money on presents are totally wrong, BECAUSE this is only the first event...there are likely more events coming soon, but everyone needs to be patient (which many people in this game lack for some reason.) I know I had to wait a full earth day (don't know how man game days) for my special presetn to show up. If you want to give presents to the kids, just wait for each game day to roll, and talk to a smile bringer for the EX present. That gives you bushells of joy. I gave up 5 of these and had no trouble, and I only had the sandorian tree.

Well a summary of all the post of those who got it and my experiences as i got it:
You need to get an ordinary Dream Hat, which is achieved by collecting 3 letters from 3 random children anywhere in your hometown, after you've talked to the moogle at one of your town's entrances. Remeber the names of those children well. After you got all these letters trade them in one turn to the "smile bringers" These are found:
In Sandy: At the Zone EastRonfaure-NorthSandoria
In Windy: At the Zone WestSarutabaruta-WindurstWaters
In Bastok: At the Zone Gustaberg-BastokMines
I'm not quite sure about the one in Bastok, b/c i haven't really seen him, but i were at all the other entrances and he wasn't there so i expect him to be in the Mines district.
After you've given him the letters he will ask you about the names of the children that gave'em to you. Answer correctly and he will give you the Dream Hat. Then you have to get the Tree of your home town. I won't declare every pos of the craftsmen, since they are always somewhere around any entrances of the towns just like the smilebringers.
To do this lil'quest you'll have to be able to use warp or flee, or just be a VERY clever runner. Except of the bastokan Tree-guest i think i woulnd't have done it w/o warping. Just get the item the craftsman needs (it's recommended to discover the area and make out the pos of the market moogles and quickest ways to them, before you talk to the treecrafter), and he'll make you your tree, hurry up and put it into your room, so it has been there for a while when you get back from acting the santa clause. ^^
You only need the tree of your hometown, as it's been said already. I also recommend to not warp around by moogles to other towns since i think that uses invisible points you get when trading presents to kids.
So now you should have got at least 2 or three "exclusive" presents from the smilebringer by talking to him every time you get the chance. i got 5 from him in more or less one day. Then buy around 6-12 (if you really want to be sure buy a stack at the beginning, but i did with 5 exclusives and only 8 other) presents for 1.2k from the smilebringer. Trade them all to the Kids in your town. (doesn't matter to which of them, but make yure you give at least one exclusive to all of the 3 children who gave you the letters.)
After you've spread all your presents you can return to your moghouse, maybe you've spent enough time so you get already the hat +1. If not you might have to wait for another while (some think you have to wait 3 game days or something like that), or maybe you'll have to bring a few more presents to any kiddies.
to do the whole thing, i had about 8k costs, but for 3 nice trees, and 5 cookies per day, not bad at all, and i've forgotten to tell about the fun running around in a crowd of houndreds of PC's with santa heads in all three hometowns... :-D

More Gift Giving... A Present thats not tradable... You dont. a "Bed" is just a decoration for your Mog House. Or some are used in the almighty Moogle Quests for upgrading your Safe.

Thats not true with the 3 trees. You only need the tree from your home town in your MH and max "kiddie" fame in your hometown.
I got the tree bough 12x 1.2k presents and gave it only to the kids who gave me a letter. Then i gave them 5 EX presents and my fame was full. I went to bed and next morning my moogle gave me a special present with the hat+1 :p.

After reading so many posts about this item existing or not, i began to doubt that it was really out there. Well to day was the day that it finally came out, and i must say that i am not in the least dissapointed.
Im on Sylph, and my home country is San d'Oria. I will tell how i got it in sandy
Talk to the moogle that is east of the AH in South sandy. He tells you about 3 kids... find them.
The 3 kids that gave me letters were:
South: Authere (one of the brothers by the tree next to the AH)
North: Taurette (Little girl across from the mithra child who upgrades your mog house exit)
Port: Auvare (lone child next to Air Travel Angency entrance)
Each child gives you a letter. Remember who gave what letter, because that information will be needed later. Once you have the letters, go to North Sandy. next to the W Ron gate, there is a guy wearing white clothes, and a red hat. Trade him all 3 letters. He will then ask who each one is from. Choose the right name from the list he gives you. if you get all 3 correct, you are rewarded with a Dream hat.
I am on the Sylph server and my home country is San d'Oria. I do not know how to get teh hat in the other cities. I do not know if you can get the hat in a city that is not your home.

I just did this on my mule (also on sylph and in sandy).

Hmmm. I think each person has a different set of people, they are grouped together, not random. My brother, got that same combination of people, Miene, Folletta, and Artinien. Therefore, if anyone gets one of those children, you know who the other two are. ^^ Good luck everyone!
You may be right about this. I too had Miene, Folletta, and Artinien. I will have to experiment with this... By the way, nice to see another person from Odin on this forum. Give me a /tell sometime Pooku ^^

Also there is a Dream Hat +1 that dispenses unlimited Ginger Cookies at one per every 24 hours. You must get all three trees and have max present fame to get it- you will need the trees in your layout. After a few days go by, you should get a present under your tree.

I got my dream hat +1 after only turning in four presents with only one tree.
So you can use the Dream Hat +1 and it will give you a random number of Ginger Cookies EVERY 24 earth hours? That's too good to be true, a reuseable dispensing item? It's impossible that SE would make such a cool item, plus it'll kill the price for them, and make the need for the hat rise. If the hat IS for real, I want it!! ^^
A word of caution: Don't know if it's been confirmed or not, but I wanted to warn people that just because the Dream Hat +1 dispenses unlimited cookies NOW, doesn't mean it will AFTER the event is over.
I learned a similar lesson the hard way, when they turned off the Latent Effect: Warp on the Treat Staff, after Harvest Festival.
