Once the latent is broken, it becomes the best damage bow for thieves. Which made me content when it dropped from the KSNM30, and none of the good crafting materials did.
Interestingly, I collected enough seals for the KSNM it dropped from by soloing my Dagger of Trials latent. But I have no plans to solo this latent, without shadows as thf/rng, and without bloody bolts.
This is DEFINITELY not the best dmg bow for thieves. Mighty bow's base dmg is 53, and 62 on windsday. This is a measley 39 AFTER doing tons of work to unlock it. Also, although Lightning bow +1 is SLIGHTLY lower dmg than this after it's unlocked (dmg 36 vs 39), the Lightning bow +1 is FASTER, gives lightning resist, AND gives Dex +3, which is great for thf, or any job that melee's, and it my personal prefence as RDM while meleeing. Dex increases ACC and Crit hit rate, and for any ballsy RDM with a joyeuse, it helps plenty. Honestly, I see no REAL use for this bow, especially considering how much work it takes to unlock and how little benefit you get. Thanks again SE for another useless item that requires tons of work to unlock, and is not worth anyone's time.
To permanently unlock the latent effect you must obtain 500WS Archery points with this weapon. Changing weapons does not restart the count.
All points are obtained through fighting Easy Prey or harder monsters.
You get 1 point for a solo Archery ws. You get 2 points for closing a lvl 1 skill chain. You get 3 points for closing a lvl 2 skill chain. You get 5 points for closing a lvl 3 skill chain.
100 LV3 Skill Chains (500WS Points) are easily achieved, granted the appropriate jobs are there to chain with you, in one sitting of less than 4 hours in a "Skill Up" party.
Though this bow is not limited to ranger job as far as being able to equip. You must be able to do Archery weaponskills in order to unlock this bow which means you must either be Ranger main or be subbing Ranger.
The only way of knowing if you have unlocked this weapon is if you were counting your points for every chain, or you are able to notice a large difference in your dmg. There is no point counter you can menu to and see that will tell you how many points you have to go.
I unlocked this weapon as rdm/rng using a beastinger dagger in my main hand due to the 150delay (factor in haste) and low dmg rating which allowed the EP crabs to live longer and the bow as my ranged weapon. Mostly had access to LV2 chains over the 4 days it took me to unlock this weapon.
I've been messing around with this bow on and off for awhile now and it certainly feels like it increases the Rapid Shot activation rate. It could just be my imagination, but it certainly feels like this is the case. Anybody else notice it?
500 points is kinda hard to get as anything but a Ranger. Did some research and if you decide to skill up with someone who has GS, GA, or Axe you can get yourself some level 2 skillchains to speed up the process. I'm only 100 points in so far, i'm really interested in seeing if this bow is worth it.
I guess the biggest question is... since only Ranger can to bow weaponskills, do you have to do 500 weaponskills sub rng if you're not a rng? or can you get the latent off some other way?
no you dont, if you think that not too smart, plus ur highest is lvl 30 from what it says in ur signature, which means u shouldnt be saying things u can do it on too weak mobs but they wont live very long
You can take it off after you do like 400 ws's and then do 100 more then it will work or will your ws's restart...im betting on my first guess but im just making sure.
