In french, "L'ancienne" means "The ancient". The ancient what? i don't know...
If you'd look at the quest this is a part of, you'd see it's a part of an ancient song, the "Chanson de Liberte."

It says key item, so if that is what it is, I assume it looks like your airship pass or chocobo license, or any other key item. (Nothing but a word on your key item screen)
It probably looks much like the dreaded Ancient Papyrus from Genkai 1: an ancient piece of papyrus upon which is written a part of a song (the "Chanson de Liberte").
