IIRC, crit%+ mods on weapons only effect that weapon, so they don't stack. If this axe is in offhand, then your offhand swings gain a +6% crit rate, including the one offhand hit during WS, hence why ninja's wear Senjuinrikio (6% crit) mainhand and Fudo (3% crit) offhand even though Fudo is higher base dmg.
This could be nice mainhand for the 5 chances to crit during rampage, but I never see anyone using it.
Hey, all, Ive been on FFXI for about 3 years now, and this is my 1st post on alla lol. Anyway, my WAR on Ragnarok wants to know if after you break the latent, must you equip the Retributor in your mainhand in order for the +6% critical hit rate to take precedents? Please respond a.s.a.p., thank you /bow.
Well, according to the FFXI Wikipedia, the weapon must be equiped in the MAIN hand to uncap the latent. However, once uncapped, I don't think it matters what have you have it in for you to recieve the benefit. This I read off of the Dissector post, however I wuld imagine they would be handeled much the same. with the exceptions of: 2 handed weapons and Destroyers (Which technically ARE 2 handed weapons, as they occupy both hands for the same weapon.)
Maneater+Joy(or Ridill) over this, the +Crit is very nice, but I would take the maneater's latant over it, but if gil is an issue, this doesnt fall far behind. As WAR/NIN Ridill+Joy Sword Merits+Suppy+Brut does hands down over DoT anyother WAR/NIN combo though. Whats so nice about these KSNM weapons, most have +6% Crit, which is VERY nice.
is it possible to have crit+ unlocked in your sub weapon? heard it might not be. if they both can be unlocked then i would love to weild this axe and the dissector (it would be a really unique look on Odin where i have yet to see this axe)
It's the same model as Tomahawk, but the colors on the handle differ a little bit.

Both of you missed his question. He wanted assurance that axes have a higher damage rating than katanas at high levels, because the damage of Rogetsu was near the unlocked damage of Retributor.
First, Rogetsu is a relic weapon. The 40 DMG only works in Dynamis. Even the fully unlocked Kikoku is 42 DMG.
The Retributor unlocks to 46 DMG, which alone is enough to beat out katanas on listed DMG rating. The Tarbazin +1 and Woodville's Axe also have 50 DMG listed.
So yes, axes will have higher DMG than katana. This does not factor in delays, food, haste, dual wielding - only the listed DMG on the weapon.
The original post is an old one, however there's your answer.
This is a one handed axe. It drops from the Copycat KS30 BCNM in Palborough. The latent effect on it is D46 (same as Juggernaut) and criticals +6%. You unlock the latent by doing weaponskills on EP+ mobs just like a weapon of trials... 1 point for solo WS, 3 points to close level 2 chain, 5 points to close a level 3 chain. It takes 500 WS points to unlock the latent, and then it's active forever. This is true of all the new rare/ex crit latent weapons that drop from KS30 BCs since last patch. I have the axe, have it activated, and pair it with Juggernaut. It's a unique model, I'll probably take some screens and send to Allakazham when I stop being lazy.

Posted:May 20 2005 at 6:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Latent effects are activated when your hp drops into the yellow, and then from when it is activated, the effect slowly decreases (eg. +30 attack when it is activated, slowy decreases every 5 seconds by taking away 4 from that 30), knowing this as a 62 drg wearing Caraprice Armour I realised how worthless that type of Latent effect is. Other latent effects can be activated by having TP less than 100, having a sub job or several other things.
