Someone on quetzalcoatl Called "Heroe" has had a maat's cap for sometime now (1~2 months) and I am lead to belive he was the second person (after Mumu) to have recieved a maat's cap.
It's really cool, I have it in my auto-translate to show off because I'm that sad...
Well, congrats to everyone with them... I know I'll never have one though since I can't even get blm to 75 let alone every job upto maat killing capabilitys... >.>

He may or may not have no life, but he has a Maat's Cap. In my opinion, he deserves alot of respect for his dedication to an awesome game. ^^ Continue the good work!

SE is just encouraging us to give up our IRL lives, and that IS SOOOOO BAD. I for one will never try to get a Maat's cap.

no it does not teleport to tavnazian safehold, it teleports you to Ru'lude gardens (how useless)

Edit: The incredible hypocrisy spewing from the guy that is rank 10, has sky and lists himself as a mid-level character leads me to believe that he, in his infinitely impeccable judgement of other's hobbies, is indeed a "loser" himself.

It got from rank 6to rank 10 within 5 days (had to go from 6-1 to 9-2) , with a 2 day break! I did it in 3 parties as well, rank 10 is a doddle to get, and i did it as a 60 whm at the time, and wasn't a drag on the party either, however the 63brd we had, was more of a concern over his horde lullably, anyhow to the hat, it's a matter of time before you get it, if the game goes long enough it'll become common like carby mitts (hardly any smn used to have them, now tonnes have them).

Where does this Teleport to? I doubt it goes to the same place the Tavnazian ring does. Seems the only one who knows the answer to that question is Mumu at the moment.

I've actually seen Mumu wearing the cap on an airship to Sandy, and everyone was crowding around him, it was crazy but I got a screenshot of it

well you could get one job to 66 and beat him. Then get tests for all the other jobs... but who can beat maat as a lvl 1 no sub =P

As evidenced by the latest issue of the Vana'diel Tribune, though Mumu was the first to earn Maat's Cap, it is unlikely he will be the only person to earn Maat's Cap. Anyone can get it, all you have to do is best Maat.
And if you can manage to do that simple but by no means easy task then by jove you've earned my respect for your dedication and versatility.
As a side note, I doubt anyone who becomes completely addicted to Final Fantasy could get this, as they would lose their job and thus their means of keeping an account open.

Slight correction. All one has to do is best Maat fifteen times, respective to each of the fifteen jobs.
And assuming someone would lose the means to afford the account would be assuming that no one playing Final Fantasy XI has the luxury to not have to work. This is most definitely not the case.

Has this been confirmed? Sorry, I've exhausted my resources, but have heard several testimonies from friends in game that beating him with every job isn't necessary for the cap. They claim that one must simply beat him 15 times, and hypothesize beating him once with every job is coincidental and not necessarily the exact conditions. This makes sense, because most people just don't fight Maat 15 times for fun, but might once for every job (thus satisfying the 15 defeats for cap condition). This is purely a speculation on my part, I hope the condition truly is 15 defeats with any job(s). This condition alone is a challenge but seems to better fit the item's worth, and also makes it attainable outside the realm of the hardest of hardcore players, imo.
I'll try and test this theory out, if it hasn't been done already, by beating Maat 15 times with my main job. I'll post results when I am finished.

For many years I have been playing PC games and console games. AGE 38 now. After much nagging by my friends I finally went out and bought FFXI you see it was not my idea of a good game. Well over a year has passed since3 then and I am a level 61 Galka Whm 51 monk ect. Yes I have spent quite some time playing the game. I do wonder how many years it would take me to get to level 75 in all jobs but I really dont think I could be bothered. I level my Whm only 2 days in every 2 weeks. The rest of the time I farm help out with GK and other shouts for help. This game is truly amazing and I enjoy the flaming in Jeuno on RAMUH server. As to getting a life I am a single parent Dad to Two small boys and find that at 8pm its a good time to relax in the game rather than watching TV. I will post back here when I retire and maybe i will have Maat's hat lol
yeah, much props to this guy... that is hardcore. My first character was on Gilgamesh... if only i hadn't left for school for a while i could see this for myself sometime... and never would've met freakin Liero... /slap
People in here are saying all kinds of things flaming people for random crap. I mean people that say Mumu has no life, if playing Final Fantasy is what he likes to do, then he is doing what he likes and shouldnt be called a looser for doing it. People are also defending him by saying people that play sports should "get a life"... Are you joking what the heck does that have to do with anything, hes probably just mad he cant do anything but sit on the couch. People should be encouraged to do what they like and if playing Final Fantasy is what they like to do then they should be encouraged to do that but they should also get up and get some exercise from time to time :). Thats all I have to say and I dont mean to offend anyone.

assuming you have school or a job, to get job lvls like that so quickly leads me to believe you have low rank, fame and prolly not much money as well as little crafting skill if any. also, your combat/magic skills probably aren't what they could be. there's alot more to this game than just getting exp.
When I saw Mumu, they weren't wearing the cap, but a Royal's Cloak. When i asked if I could see it, I got "{Mog House}{I'm sorry.}" >_<

So, where does this teleport take you? I don't suppose anyone knows Mumu and could get an answer eh? And, is that an infinite teleport charge it has? Or a one time use deal?
If it is like all the other 1 charge items, it is recharged at the end of the amount of time before reuse, which looks like 24 Hours on this item. So, you would be able to use the enchantment once every real life day.
A Player by this name is on Gilgamesh server...
