get a life ?

Getting this doesnt mean you dont have i life i feel. What does it matter if you continue playing this game to the end or moved onto another game? Your would still be wasting your time if you moved onto another game.

IS THIS the actual way of getting the cap or not?? I'm hearing he's not giving this quest out yet, seeing SE rewarded someone (from Ragnarok I think) for getting all his jobs to 75, but so far that's the only known existing Maat cap is in all of the servers.

Hmmm. I wonder I play this game in my off time ever since it came out in October of 2003. As you see from my signature I am close to getting my second job to 75. I have been playing for about year and 7 months approximately and this is how far I can get in my offtime. All my other jobs are at 20 or below. I probably wont get my third job to 75 till the end of fall most likely if I am lucky with parties lol. I am fairly sure I cannot do it in 3 years. I actually wish I had that much time. I hate being a working man ; ;

You can get this with all the jobs at lv 66, it's just beating Maat in the Genkai V battle, so you don't really need to reach that lv75 w/ all the jobs.

but even at that, there's no use going through the trouble of fighting maat 4 levels lower than usual if you cant equip the cap until lv 70 anyway

I think it's kind of funny all the people critizing anyone who has this cap and saying they have no life, because clearly they can't because they spent so much time in game.

FFXI is a game, people play it because they think it's fun. Frankily, I see nothing wrong with that. They enjoy this game, instead of game hopping like other people, they've decided to keep playing FFXI because it's still fun for them.

I'm willing to bet that all the people saying that these people had no life, added up all the time they've played other games and ffxi and compared it to the people who have this cap, it'd probbably be very similar. (if you don't count age differences and stuff, because most likely a 40 year old gamer would have more game time than a 15 year old.)

But seriously, I don't think anyone should knock someone for doing something they like. They're not out killing things for real are they? Personally given the option I'd rather have them be enjoying FFXI. -shrug- Some people would rather come home after working a double shift and do something relaxing like playing a game rather than playing football or being in a crowded movie theater.

I've got nothing against football players or people that like going to movies in their free time, but saying a gamer doesn't have a life is kind of silly since they're just doing something they like. Just like a football player spends a lot of time playing just football and not another sport I don't see many people saying "why doesn't he do something else." Same with the people watching the football game. They're playing it because they enjoy it, and people are watching it because they enjoy it. Football players make money because they're entertainers. Chances are if a person's playing ffxi they've got another job they're working just as hard at because they do have to pay for it and we're they're staying somehow.

But I guess a lot of people don't think like that.

Basically I agree. I suppose it'd be a little bit more ... non-creepy? ... if the person who did it was what I call a "Share-acter," a character shared by different people. Usually this is done by gil-sellers (which is why you see some of the same characters logging trees in Ghelspa grove 22 hours a day, often with different personalities depending on when you encounter them), but

I suppose a character could be played "in turns" for more legitimate reasons, e.g., "This week my brother joe is playing him, and leveling bard; then next week it's back to me, and I'm leveling BLM," etc.

hey man i agree with with you 100% why judge ppl on how they spend there spare time. im still in high school and i dont get a lot of free time to myself so i spend what little time i have playing FFXI. whithin FFXI you can make tons of great ppl that see you for who you are not what you do.

This is a pretty big accomplishment, I don't understand how you think its sad, the game came out in japan over 3 years ago. Like most have said leveling the first job to 75 takes the longest.

Im not completely sure on the math, but i think it comes down to about 1 lvl a day everyday since the game came. ( however most of the time ppl level more than 1 time in a day so that would leave time for other things like making gil)

I guess in a way it could be sad that sombody has spent that much time in the game, but that doesn't mean they havnt acomplished anything in that time or that they have no social life. It just means they enjoy the game.

I heard you don't actually have to get all jobs to 75 to get this. Just beat Maat as all his jobs. Let's say you got to lv.75 as a red mage. Get a thief's testimony and beat thief Maat as a red mage. Then do it again for all the other jobs.

That's just what I heard. I can't confirm

All the people saying anyone who has this need to get a life: QUIT SPAMMING THE DAMN BOARDS ABOUT IT! My god, we all know that seemingly 90% of the population of earth thinks that if you can get this cap you have no life, we don't need you confirming it.

Funny how doing something like this in a game means you have no life, but doing something like this in real life (like in sports, for example) makes you famous and/or rich. You dedicate yourself to sports and set a world record, and no one tells you to 'get a life.' They praise you and call you an amazing athlete. Wonder why that is... they are both "just games."

Let's see....getting level 75 in all jobs brings no glory, money, doesn't physically condition you, and the most important thing is, it takes very little skill. If you think playing FFXI is hard, you must have not done anything remotely challenging in your life. You don't get your name in a goddamn record book for playing FFXI. Sure, it's an effed up double standard, but it's the truth.
RE: Get a life
# Jun 18 2005 at 1:46 AM Rating: Decent
Most of the people that set records, and make money, don't do it for the money. To truly push yourself that far, you have to want to do it. So really, it's a personal accomplishment with money as a plus. So this, would be the "golden medal" that 1st place takes.

first i'd like to congratulate him on beating FFXI... lol
then i'm wonderin when he missed the warning message before you log in. >.>

i've been playin' since the american release and i've only got DRG up to 58 >.>
RE: wow

the reason you only have a level 58 job after playing nearly 1 1/2 years is your playing "Dragoon" !!

Ya , sure DRGs are cool , but 99% of the Parties out there will choose any other job over a DRG . I bet you spend an average of 4 hours a day just LFP where other PPL get a PT in under an hour and have that 3 hours more to exp . May want to change jobs or pick a second job

I agree the first job is the hardest to get to 75, esp., with all the level break limit quests interrupting playing time and of course leveling your sub job.

But, once you get there, you know basicly where to go and can tell and good party, from one that's not going anywhere.

My second job to 75 took me about 1.5 months of solid playing time. "you level fast!" was what I was told many times. One of the ppl I leveled with in kazhaam's jungles is level 40 while I got to 75.

Also, the gil factor becomes easier too, cause you can get around and do stuff like bcnm's and ksnm's with your other 75 job to make gil for the lower one's.

I've got two jobs to 75, one at 40, 35, 30, and the rest 15 and below. never got 2 advanced jobs (drk and pala) and don't intend on doing them either.

I will say that leveling that fast does not give you the greatest playing experience for a job cause you are only in a party. However, it sure does feel good.

congrats to Mumu (you leveling animal you)!!

Its pretty clear that the hat teleports you to Jeuno.

Look at the cooldown, hes in Jeuno and he had used the hat 8 seconds ago. Its GOTTA take you to Jeuno.

I keep seeing "this guy is loaded" comments about this guy... I mean, he is unbelievable and if ever I were to meet him, yes, he'd get a /kneel and a /bow and a /praise from me. But judging from his equipment and his level, this guy is far from "loaded". You would think someone who had every job at 75 would atleast have all HQ staves (in pic all I see is one). It almost looks as if he is wearing a Moldavite (Rare/ex) and a Bat Earring (AH, not too expensive); wouldn't a Death Earring make a better earring for a blm? He has a full errant gear set but you'd think for a 75~75 he'd have the Mahatma set. And finally... his gil. 209k. I mean, yeah, that's more than I have at the moment, but I'm sure there are others with far more gil than that. By now I'm sure he has the ability to farm whatever he wishes or go to any bcnm he desires... I'd like to see someone with a fully capped craftskills (including mastery points distributed evenly)... now that would be a person with a fortune.
RE: Where?
# Jun 02 2005 at 3:50 PM Rating: Decent
He's also wearing a Moldavite Earring and other Mage gear which makes him a Blm mostlikely (or unconventional)... warp is a possibility... And if someone also has the CoP tele ring (which also is reported so someone does) that takes u to the Tavnazian place (apparently)...
We also know hes really friggin wealthy(judging by his equiptment) so he could have bought it in the AH.... Im not really fimiliar with the game yet thou(see signature) so its all just speculation.... Just trying to make sense of the situation.
BTW: Anybody with this item is free to clear me up on this or... I could borrow it to find out hehe ^^ (again see signature :D)

If you are saying he could have bought the Maat's Cap from the AH....you're wrong. It is Rare/Ex. Ex.(exclusive) means you can't trade it to other players. XD (You also can't borrow it since it is Ex. <.<).

First off i'm sorry if I came across earlier as rude. I'm really not like that usually. I apologise now. I had had a bad day where my 1,200 brand new computer blew up on me and is in the shop indefinately, followed up by a speeding ticket because of being upset that it was gonna be some time till I got it working again (if ever). All in all I'm out $1,400 so please forgive the sour attitude.

As regards to the Maat's cap. Yes I read the article, and here is my personal opinion of what happened.

Mumu hit lvl 75 in all jobs and SE took notice so in the last patch they added the quest :Beyond the sun. Mumu found the quest and completed it thus getting the maat's cap.

It is my opinion that SE did not just do something like---> "GM: hello Mumu I am a GM of this server. We noticed you lvld all jobs up to 75 so here is a Maat's cap...congradulations!!!"

I just don't believe they handed the cap to him, but added the quest and he did it. So the "we gave him Maats cap" line is true, just in an indirect way.

And a final note: cannotlinkto takes the following line from the FFXI datafiles themselves

Quote:
Quest: Beyond the Sun

Summary: After clearing all of Maat's final challenges, you will finally learn his secret...

That is taken directly from the games datafiles as the text that accompanys the quest activatyion. Its shown on the "2005 patch compilation info" link of cannotlinkto towards the bottom. Just read it and it becaomes very clear.

To me that means beat him in all 15 jobs (all of maats final challenges)

and learn his secret (his cap with uber stats).

And being a quest you hafta do something or trade maat something to get the cap, although what that may be I cannot say.

On a final note: it has been said that the enchantment "Teleport" teleports you to Maat himself. In other words, a Teleport Jeuno....... how sweet is that.

I have the treat staff 2 and the Dream hat +1. They both have charges as 1/1 and I have used them each countless times. The treat staff 2 has a 5 RL day recast timer and hat is 1 day recast. so by that logic here is the enchantment

"Teleport Jeuno" infinite uses but only allowed once every 24 RL hours.

Hope that gave ya all the info ya needed. Good luck peeps and haave fun.

I read these post hoping to find useful information.. All i see is a bunch of people crying in self pity and complaining because the JP have higher lvl jobs, jp's camp all the hnm's, and jp's are gil sellers. Grow up all..quit acting like 5 year olds and realize it's only a game. So what if the japanese have higher lvl jobs, maybe they are better players!! or are you all to scared to say that. Who cares if they camp the hnm's and gods, they have as much a right to them as we do. Everyone complains about how the jp say other players are dumb. Well reading these post makes me wonder if we all aren't. Don't make stupid remarks out of jealousy and envy. If they can get all their jobs to lvl 75 through static's and such. More power to them, glad to see that someone can.

For those of you who don't make post like this i apologize for the rant. I just get tired of hearing the same crap on every post.
And i'm not just aiming this at the people on this post. I see it everywhere. So if i offended you. Tough luck.

up the only reason why they have higher jobs and are better then this and that is becuase you fail to realise how much earlier final fantasy came in japan then NA i mean i think they take much more consideration in the game but if it came out at the same time im pretty sure there will others players with this cap , kwijimboe of garuda damn nears has all jobs to 75 , saying that were complaining is one thing but for a person that has no jobs to 75 or prolly never even killed a hnm nor seen one in person shouldnt talk , sorry dont mean to bash you but its the truth

hehe we will see alot of JP statics soon... hope they will choose uncommon places or valkurm dunes will be overcrowed for a while ^^

I'm on Gilgamesh, one of the oldest world.. so i guess we will have plenty of JPs with this hat within 2 month..

Some friends did a good static and they got lvl 70 incredibly fast. They started when i was lvl 60+ and they are now 70 like me lol.. so really if you get some good people and play about 5-6h every night for xp you can lvl all the jobs pretty fast.

Ok not everyone can play that much but if the only thing you do in life is FF you could do like 2 or 3 statics like that at the same time.. assuming that you get the money for that.. you know, gillsellers actually find people to buy gils ^^

And you only need lvl 66 to fight againstaru Maat if you have a good gear, good food and medecine, that for most jobs (i only tried for whm, I apologize for other jobs if you cant do it before 70)

And please forgive me if i did some mistakes i'm french and my english isnt perfect ^^

your definition of life may be totally different to some1 else. if they think FFXI is worth it, then it IS their life.
