2 for 3 and the only reason for not getting the first one? I died.

I got it Tuesday after camping 2 hours. Thursday my friend was farming in the dunes, and I needed some lizard skins, figured I'd get carbuncles ruby as well. Told him to send me a party invite, in case I saw the VE, since he didnt have one yet. Killed the PH for fun, with 6 campers around. 5 minutes later, it pops. I run over, and some poor level 17 is dead from it, Kill it, drop.
Suck for the little guy. He sais he was 0/10 on it, and he was there to party, and got aggro'd. ;( /cry

0/1... Spent 30+ mins looking for a tele and finally got pissed off and offered 10k for a tele-dem. Rode over and 15 mins of waiting and I pick him up with widescan. Run to him while the other 5 campers stood around with their thumbs in the *ahem* and got claim killed it but no drop... guess I'll try again tomorrow. 55mnk/7rng lol gogo chi-blast?

Just started a new character so my old friend, THF75/RNG37 helped me camp Valkurm Emperor. There was like 6 people there camping it as well. Well, he did the PH thing for about 20~25 min. then VE popped. He used Flee and claimed him with a Ranged Attack. We killed it and it dropped the hairpin. I am now 1/1 on him^^ Also, my friend had TH3 which makes me think TH3 is uber since we camped Leaping Lizzy a week before and went 1/1 on him. On my previous char. I had gone 0/25 on LL and such so maybe TH3 is "that" good. Maybe not. Hope this helps.

To the guy who posted before me about BST/THF for TH..... TH DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR RARE/EX DROPS!!! dang some people just dont listen. SE have made it clear rare/ex drops are not affected by TH1 TH2 or TH3. =( silly panda

I love my drop-rate from NM's. 1/3 on this baby, 1/1 on leaping lizzy. thats right, suck up that envy :P. QUETZALCOATL FTFW! camped on whm/blm btw flash to claim
Finally dropped after killing it 20+ times since the RARE/EX update. Camped as 53 BST with THF sub for Treasure Hunter and Flee. I recommend having a Widescan/Flee combo if you want to up your chances, since the area it pops in is so big.

these are great for low lvl thief and nin evasion rocks. i got mine 1/1 and i love em. was pretty frustrating to camp though went 4 hours without a pop and then ended up popped right behind me. a terribly easy fight. dont give up on this NM it has a really decent drop rate everyone i know that has the empress pin has never gone past 5 claims without a pin.

i think for rare/ex items, the more times you kill the mob and not get drop the higher then drap rate should increase. there shoudlnt be any need to camp more than 3 times trying to get a rare ex items.
Arg, posted this in the wrong spot. But since this is here now, I'll just say that I finally got mine this morning after camping it for a few hours, 2/3 on the claims and it dropped on my 2nd kill.

About a total of 2.5 hours of camping and I came out of it with the hairpin. It was funny because that was the first time I have even seen VE before so that makes it 1/1 for me. I was 50 THF/RNG at the time. Not that RNG helped as it popped right in front of me. I am just happy I saved myself 500-600k!

I am 1/43 on this sucker....and I only got it because a good friend of mine came as Thf75/Rng37 to help. I fell asleep after 6 hours of camping straight as Pld/Rng and he got drop an hour later.
If you dont have TH -and- WS, its gonna make for a very trying time in your game life.

Sorry to tell you, 1/1 on this as RDM/RNG, no th surprised me, but it took me 3 days to get the claim
camped for about 20 mins just now. 5-6 other people around camping. spawns near me, i get claim (tho, i thought i was too far when i casted dia, tho if i didnt, a thf prolly woulda gotten it, and if i was too far, he'd prolly have gotten it, so i tried anyway lol)
put some crappy equip on, and attacked, listening to someone beg me for it, purposely taking longer then i need to kill it (like 20 secs longer), because of that (lol). down to 10%, {Spirits Within} 300% tp, red health (convert ftw), owns it, and got the drop!

can the empress hairpins be sold and if soo how much for?
You might be able to sell it to an NPC, but then your whole server will come mpk you.

1/1 on this thing, wasn't even camping it really. Was in Valkurm messing about with some LS members while some lower level ones EXPed, figured id stick around the pop area in case it popped. It did, I claimed, it dropped.
Probably wont even use it for a month or so when I level a melee for the first time :P

camped for 1 hour and then a 75 pld came along, i asked him if he wanted pt to help camp it since i had 26 thf subbed, for treasure hunter, he said sure, bout an hour later he claimed it and pin drop and we rolled and i got it ^^

Got claim 3/3 drop 1/3 the placeholder trick works flawlessly, 2nd claim was against 15 campers at 6am so dont always expect off hours to be slow. Easy as a 46THF/23BST. Charm ftw. Goodluck my fellow campers.

This thing OMFG its soooooo annoying camped it from about 8:30 am GMT till 12:30 then it pops my heart is racing i run over flash>>>melee>>>vorpal blade>>>melee>>>melee at this point it dies from my great strength :P i wait a @#%^ing insect wing. i felt like smashing my TV and braking my xbox. now just trying again hoping for a quick pop
wide scan really helps im PLD/RNG 60/10 but levels dont matter. just keep watching between the snippers and leeches and it will pop, eventually.
i hope no one else has a 4 hour pop but if u do be patient and i hope u get the drop unlike me.
just going to take down another place holder ill update if i get the drop or not.^^

I'm so sick of camping this thing. It must just be a problem that only I have.
I've been there for about a week now, only got 6 claims, 0 drops. RMT LS on my server seem to know exactly when he's about to pop and know exactly WHERE he's going to pop, as they always come in on Chocobos and dismount. 2 minutes later they claim. So sick, soooooo sick.
Camping this NM has made me contemplate quitting so many times. I don't care about real people camping, it's the RMT that camp this **** that is making me so angry.
If anyone on Leviathan sees anyone with a "peerless" LS, make sure to report them, as they are RMT, and really pissing me off.

17 hours camping straight 8 claims, 1 drop... finally! Two incidents where 2 random THF who been afk all the time stole VE while i had my back turned. After some offensive words and a few /blists im ok now... with my kickass hairpin w00t!
Take a friend down there, one camp up the back, one cover the trees area.

Nice, just started camping VE with my 75 thf. Took 2 hours, but I claimed and got the drop first try (Thank you TH2). Finally I can sell my emperor's pin and have some money.
TH2 Is quantity, TH1 is quality.
