bah this is rediculous. tried making this thing today to sell it, noticed the bowl was @ 400k on fenrir so i decided to turn the event into a profit. sorry if that seems wrong but lockhearts are expensive XD anyway, i foraged for the easy mats, spent 3 hours fishing for the goldfish set and blew 150k on the glass sheet, putty was 35k even got image support and FU*KING FAILED!! i have 59 woodworking, 10 smithing and 10 alchemy, recently leveled smithing and alchemy to make it, i was told you only needed level 10 being that its WW as the main craft. oh well, got .2 smithing skill out of it, not worth 175k though ><
worst of all i lost the goldfish set, and im not doing that damn scooping thing again -.-;; (that's too bad)

Before everyone blows their lid over this: It's a level 10 WoodWorking synth. It's not exactly hard to get this made yourself. ;)

First off, theres nothing that says every item in the game should be easy to attain. I would have thought most of yall figured that out by now. Those players who have been leveling, ranking, questing, and synthesizing for the past month and or years do deserve more then you new weenies! Why shouldn’t a person that has put in way longer time in on ffxi get some extras.
Second, just cause you see a post on a topic and it sounds good and right, doesn’t mean that’s the (written in stone) information. As the days go by, the price of Silica has dropped, and will continue to drop. At the start Silica only dropped from 1 mob on 1 map, and within days changed to dropping from 2 mobs on 2 maps. Now it would seem that Clamming (similar to fishing) may result Silica and can be done in Purgongorgo Isle (take the boat from Bibiki Bay). I myself have not received the silica here yet. But... the white sand, petrified log, rocksalt, shell powder, and coral fragment I have found either clamming or from drops in Purgongorgo Isle. All these are materials used in the synthesis of Aquariums (sounds a little fishy to me). I spend 2 hours in a new area and get almost half the items needed Hmmmm... There are 1-3 spots to clam in each of the 4 wading areas on the Isle. Maybe you should spend some more time doing the quests then you guys seem to be reading and whining about them.
Third, I can’t tell you how much FUN I had AFTER I got my SWIMSUIT +1 pieces and made my way to Purgongrogo Isle. It is one of the most beautiful areas I have seen in the game. As me and my best friend Nazarane got off the boat, I realized that the whole point of the summer festival was to bring us to new things and people. There was a small group of people in this area (most of which were Japanese). And… every person in the area had a swimsuit +1 and was either hunting and NM or clamming. There are deep blue lagoon like water pools, dense palm trees & vegetation, and open aired caves that cut into the mountainside of each of the four beach areas. This was when a smile came across my face. I was with my best friend in our swimsuits in a tropical paradise. THIS IS SUMMER FESTIVAL. SE has brought Naz and I here to enjoy the moment and experience the closest thing to a summer getaway possible in this virtual world many of us call past time our past time. Maybe… SE event planners were tired of the same boring moogle events full of shouting help morons. I didn’t hear one shout while on the Isle for help. Only the true adventurers seemed to have advanced to this part of the festival. Many of yall got your +1 gear and that was the end of it as far as yall were concerned. There were no posts on what or where to go next, and you stopped participating. I bet you that getting your swimsuit +1 isn’t the end of the festival events. This festival was brought to us in stages. You got to do and see things from last years festival to get you started off and bring you up to date. Now the new pieces of the puzzle have been introduced. Some of you people wait day by day, then rush to Allakhazam.com and read on exactly what to do, then rush out to be mindless drones as you go from part A to part B quickly doing the events as fast as possible, just so yall can go back to leveling and farming. Those who are like that should not of even bothered to a break from your normal routine. I think this is the best festival or event ever offered by SE FFXI. I applaud your efforts SE and hope to see more revisions to the future holiday events.

PS!!! Dex would love to see some revisions to the time and days of the server maintenances and emergency maintenances. Battling Hackers is one thing, errors in programming and compatibility of version updates is quite another. Let the Japanese experience maintenance during some of the peak times please.

A few questions to consider:
- Has anyone successfully made this?
- Where *in the game* do you get the recipe?
- Does anyone else think it odd that there are two items in the game called "Goldfish Bowl"?
- Is it just coincidence that there is a high Alchemy requirement (for the Glass Sheet) and that the "Azimuth Circle" event quotes a member of the Alchemist's Guild?
- Has anyone considered the possibility that this recipe was invented by some Alchemist looking to sell Glass Sheets? ^^;

I dunno, there's something fishy (no pun intended) about this item. Let's see how the event plays out...

Your friend can't make for you-the Goldfish Set required is EX and non-transferabble, unless he gets 80 points and gets the set himself.

It's a level 10 Woodworking synth, so its not really hard to make it yourself.

I can confirm it, since I made two of them! Here's a thread with links to screenshots.

Anyone who has made this, what lvls of woodworking, smithing, and alchemy did you have?
Prices?!
# Jul 27 2005 at 11:21 PM Rating: Decent
Just tried to buy the ingredients for this, had the two fish and Goldfish Set, bought everything else for relatively cheap (Sieglinde Putty was 25k. . .) Went to buy Glass Sheet. 3 million gil. Not going to happen. . . /sigh Hades server is so inflated. . .

Sorry, just felt like complaining a little

3 mil, that's not so bad, glass sheet was selling for 5-6 mil on Quetz the first few days. But then again, Silica was 400K a piece and you need 6 to make the sheet, quite stupid if you ask me.

But I made myself the goldfish bowl, looks like an Aquarium. Did I spend 6 mil? Hell no, I took a few hours and went farming my Silica with good friends. It's not a rare drop or anything, just need to be patient.

I've got maybe a 1 in woodworking, so I plan to level it up a bit and attempt the synth myself. I'm still holding onto the Aurora Crystal from Valentine's Day moogle gift and just think it would be cool to put my name on an event item.

The glass looks very pricy, so I'll just grab everything else I need and wait around for glass though. I'm not that rich nowadays...I wish SE would have thought a bit more about the ingredients list, most of the items are easilly attainable, the glass is incredibly difficult for a lower level player, or any player with a small wallet.

People are just redici0us, when a new pops up tehy jack it to 500k or whatever, tehy do this i surpose to make people have a reason to get these, making the demand jack up, hence why you see gil sellerz chilling at the pond, no one knows why :P they just know how ot bot, tehy make crapy pt partners period. (went off topic oopz) but yea the prices of some of these added items are majorly over priced, people just do it to obtain a quick dollar, like how microsoft works :P

SE comes up with some strange things - this being one of them. The silica on Garuda is going for 100K in ah and Glass Sheets are selling for 500K. And it's not that I can't craft the items or synth the tank. I just haven't done the CoP missions yet to get to the aqueducts to get the silica. I think SE should've thought this through and have it drop in more than one area that is going to be difficult for most people to get.

I would sure hate to be a new player and have the goldfish set and not be able to do anything with it for a long time.

I agree, my prob is i can make this, but on fenrir server, there is little to none of the silica to be found, more or less 6 needed to make the glass sheet. I can not belive that they would give you a EX item, then make it impossible to get the last item to make it. Too top this off, and no not bashing a class or anything, we hit the CoP zone it's supposed to drop in, only to get hit with a MPK. So not here to make a buck just want to make a fish tank, but ya, alsa, not gonna happen soon.

S/E probablt figures atleast 90% of the people should be through to this point after a year of the expansion being released . Really there is no real reason why people should be atleast to Tavnazia region and if they aren't , S/E is giving people a reason to try to . This same is said for sky access and gods . If you want god gear and Adjurations for cursed gear , you are forced to try and do the ZM missions and gear is the incentive .

Actually, I've had this game since very shortly after the expansion came out. I also have a life, so I only play a limited amount every week. I never bought the expansion pack because I figured, as I was told by the salesperson at the time, that it was useless to get the expansion before getting through at least part of the original game. I only recently got a job past level 30 (then again, I have almost ALL the jobs up to at least level 20-25), and I've done almost all the quests available to me as such, in most of the cities I've visited (level 9 fame in 4 cities).

I'm not sure your assertion that "at least 90% of the people should be through to this point" is valid.

Where is the fun in a low level sunth that includes 2 items that are either selling for over a million gil (nearer 1.5 million on my server) or are nearly level 80 crafting skill?

Let me guess...
this is to encourage players to "go out and meet new players, looking for people whose crafting skills are high enough", right?

I think that's horse pucky.
I think S-E should have made the entire synth accessible to people who would have level 10 woodcrafting. 10 isn't very high, it's quite easy to achieve, and this would have been a great way to encourage people who had not to finally start crafting.

As a matter of fact, S-E should regularly make events where the "prize" requires you to level one of your crafts at least to a basic level.

This being said, I think it's completely idiotic of them to have included in the recipe two items that are clearly NOT of the same level, nor even easily accessible. The Seiglinde Putty would wipe out, financially speaking, most beginner players (25-50k at the AH at the moment). The Sheets of Glass are not even listed yet at the AH, but since the single ingredient (of which 6 are required) is a "drop only", moderately high level at that, and presently selling for 300k per at the AH, I think that even many very high-level players would be wiped out financially just for the minor pleasure of having a gold fish and a black bubble-eye in their moghouse.

I wonder, are Tiny Goldfish and Black Bubble-eyes going to be sold by a merchant once this festival is finished? All those people who will have diligently levelled their woodcrafting and alchemy and smithing so as to be at a proper level to make a goldfish tank... will they all have thought to keep an extra Tiny Goldfish and a Black Bubble-eye in their moghouse safes?

Maybe I sound a little bitter (or a lot), but this kind of decision on the programmers' part takes a great deal of the "fun" out of these "fun events".

I am totally agree with you points.

SE is no more fun to players ?!
SE is creating something for gilsellers. So that SE wipped out their chances to camp Leaping Lizzay and EMP. hairpin. But now, this is calling all gilsellers (always high level) to go farm those items and sell with incredible high price in AH for continuing eanring enough gil to sell ?
WTF ! SE programmers are smart ! But do they really think that these is Summer Festival fun ?! F ! F ! F ! F !

Chichicha, I think you're overreacting a bit, as are most other people who are blaming SE for how expensive these items are. Though I admit that it does seem kind of silly that some ingredients require high level synthing, it isn't SE's fault for the prices. SE doens't set a price on any item; the players do. The reason the prices are so high is because the PLAYERS are buying it for that much. It's a simple game of supply and demand. Let me provide an example:
Let's say there are ten gold fish bowls in existance, and there are 20 people wanting these. Obviously, there aren't enough to go around for everyone. Four of the people have ~100k to spend on the item, another 6 have ~500k, and the other ten have over a million. Care to guess who is going to win the bid? The "rich bastards" of society, of course. :P They're the ones who drive the price up.
So again, it isn't SE's fault the prices are so high, it's the players' own faults for willing to pay that much for an item.

Another note to Chichicha: Most gilsellers don't have access to CoP areas, it seems. So for now, the silica is in the hands of the players, not the gilsellers.
RE: Inconsistancy

Truthfully I think they did it on purpose to weed out and catch the gilsellers in the act. What better way to than during an event! Just my opinion....

In addition, it is likely from the various reports regarding this item that the smithing and alchemy components also require around 10 ranks. I would assume 10 Wood, 10 Alchemy, 10 Smith. Can anyone confirm this?

I've been trying to make this since I got the Goldfish set but it's hard. You need 6 Silica for the Glass Sheet and right now they're like 200k each on Caitsith. The Sieglinde Putty is easy to get items from but it and the Glass Sheet are high level alchemy synths. What you need in total is: Bronze Ingot, Lauan Lumber, Crawlers Calculus, Sieglinde Putty, Glass Sheet, Goldfish Set, Tiny Goldfish and a Black Bubble-eye. The Goldfish Set is EX so you gotta make this whole thing yourself...but it's only like..a 10 woodworking which is lucky.
