Found on accident

I was actually camping Sophie with my BST when it popped up on wide scan. Went and killed it and got my o earring. Honestly not sure what the big deal is about it. -2 ATK doesn't seem like a good balance to me for +1 ACC.
# Apr 17 2009 at 12:54 AM Rating: Default
The +1 acc doesnt do fakall. Watse of time to camp this.
# May 17 2007 at 2:19 AM Rating: Decent
You know, the attack -2 is no BIG deal, but to be honest, neither is the acc+1, even at lvl 10. As a test, as 15 monk, I once equipped Battle gloves + tropical punches (Acc +13 total, for the math impaired, thats 13x the potency of this earring). I was still missing a LOT more than I expected with such a huge acc boost for my level... So I took them both off.... the result? I was only missing a VERY slight bit more, and honestly, not even enough to notice if I wasnt actually thinking about it. So... if Acc +13 doesnt do much, acc+1 is practically nothing... Now, I"m not saying this is a BAD earring, but just know, you cant expect a whole lot from acc+1 (or +13 for that matter). And one final stat for thought - once you hit lvl 21, if you're still using this, you could be using Beetle earrings +1. THis means that if you have this earring on instead, you are essentially losing FIVE attack, not two, because the this earring is -2, and beetle +1 is +3atk, so the total loss by not using beetle is -5.... I'm sorry, but +5 attack is MUCH better than +1 acc.
Got it

Was camping this freekin nm closer to Pal mines, lvd twice lookin for PH. Then i woke up and did the research. Found that I-6 (near the ramp up) was the highest pop sighting so i camped it. I found that certain saplings gave better drops (beastseals/ crystal and seeds) where others only gave crystals or just exp. so i focused on those type of saplings. All in the area of I-6 near the ramp. i collected 5 seals, 2 full stacks of seeds (6 vegy seeds) when i spotted it. This one spawned just north of the ramp, east of the bend in the path in I-6. As Galka mnk12/ (full tp, 2hr rdy), i took it on. When the battle was over i was just below half Hp, i used Hundred Fist, and Combo twice.

Well I was all set up to do a BCNM 50 at Waughroon Srine when our THF d/c'd before he was able to get to the location and later our PLD realized he didn't have enough seals to get an orb so needless to say I walked to the BC for no reason and instead of wasting my Warp Cudgel I decided to run back to Bastok. Shortly after entering N. Gust I happened to come by a Sapling with a wierd name, didn't see anyone else in the area, and knowing it was a NM how could I pass up taking a whack or two at it? The Sapling dies and I obtain an Optical Earring. SCORE!!! plus being an Elvaan DRG I think I can spare the 2 attack for some much needed accuracy^^ Well I may have not been able to get the BCNM done, but the night wasn't a total waste of time after all. I recommend this earring for Elvaan DD's everywhere.
best use

Its best for a elv sam. The atk-2 isnt really going to kill you but you could really use the acc+1. However if you really dont want to lose 2 atk then equip either a bone earring or beatle earring with it to counter balance.

It's Impossible to wear two of them; Rare/EX
But if you could, I'd wear two until you can get a +3 Attack Earring
# Dec 17 2005 at 11:14 AM Rating: Decent

Got it today :D been 2 hours camping this ***** as sam/rng. When i was getting mad and about to log, it popped at J-5, so i tracked it, killed with one single ranged attack, and got the earring ^^ 1/1. Ive heard it has 100% drop rate, or something real high. The attack -2 of it is not fun, but i think acc>attck since as long as you hit you get tp, so is all right ^^b

I was bored senseless today, so I picked a random NM from the updates on the front page of allak to camp. Went out as bst/thf for widescan and flee and killed Walking Saplings for just over an hour without seeing a soul. An anon brd wearing Demon Helm (so probably close to my level) wandered out and killed a few saplings, scaring me that suddenly I had competition, when I checked Widescan and saw Maighdean Uaine at the very southern edge of the pop zone...the exact opposite direction the bard was heading in his path of destruction. XD

Hit flee, took 2 whacks with my axe to kill it and I got the earring. Used it later on with my 11 monk, except for the oos and ahs from noobs I'm not sure it made much difference. But then, there aren't any useful earrings at level 10 anyway for a melee so what's the harm?

Yea This NM is lvl 10, i camped him for about an hour and a half with no competition on Bahamut so it was easy for me to get it. This place is so dry on this server with all low lvl's running around. He just poped and i killed him in one hit (Guillotine), and just went on about my buisness ^^. Very good earring for the low lvl's i just wish you could sell it >.<

I'd say that the NMs level is around 10-12. I tried it as a lvl 11 NIN and i got it down to about 2/5 health before i died. I then had a near by PLD raise me, invited him into PT, and had him kill it. Good earring.

well i went to camp this lil bugger as my 57drk/6rng... was killing place holders for about hour 30 min or so.. then this taru 21+ ish logged on and within about 10 min he grabbed claim :( well anyways i guess his ls has got it for a bunch of their memebrs and he told me that the pop is close to 3 hours on the dot and he said is 100% guaranteed drop.. i can confirm he does infact pop at (I-6) , not sure if he spawns outside of that area but that is what i have seen....

anyways info posted here is true , he DOESNT pop on the hill, and is popped from killing placeholders (i believe) at (I-6) in North Gustaberg (the right side, zoned from port bastok) not the zone to konstacht (sp?) happy hunting ppl...

oh one last thing... the gif for the earring is that of a NQ beetle earring :/ i was hoping for something a lil cooler than that.....

EDIT: went back 2 hours later killed saplings for about 20 min and he popped and i got the drop.. sent pic to alla hopefully itll be posted.. and BTW it popped at (J-5) this time near the top-right corner of it too... so it seems its spawn area is much larger than originally thought.. also seems the spawn time can be 2-3 hours or so.. rock on everyone

Well my LS just killed this NM three times in an hour and a half so it's no where near a 2-3hr spawn. :p

It's a lottery pop just like Sophie. Every time a sapling dies, there's a chance this one spawns.

SAMs can't use the Assault Earring. I was thinking about try to get these, but I have +33 Accuracy when I'm under 100% TP, +28 when I'm over. So losing 10 attack for 2 acc doesn't seem like a good trade.

This EARRING (not ring) is a blessing from the gods, especially Elvaans. Elvaans have the lowest acc rating due to their low racial dex stat. This earring trades attack, which the elvaan has plenty of for acc. Until you get your assault earring at 57, there is no better acc earring, unless you wanna shell out millions for an accuracy earring at 51 which is only +2. Trust me, for an Elvaan DD, be he war, mnk, drk, drg, or sam, this earring will go on at 10 and never come off til 57, and even then it probably wont come off, cuz you'll just stick the assault earring in the OTHER ear.

Elvaan DD's need every bit of ACC they can squeeze out of the game. Why do you think their so exp. Now here's a free point at 10th! OMG, I"m shocked N.Gustaberg isn't capped with Elvaan drks ^^. Got mine last night, so no more random chocobo rides through that dustbowl of a region.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 03 2005 at 4:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WHEN WILL YOU PPL GET IT THROUGHT YOUR THICK SKULLS??!! elvaan dont miss much more than other race and DEX isnt ACC its not proven and there low DEX doesn't mean they miss a lot. Dexterity is all about Critical Hits, not accuracy and although it is thought that 2 DEX=1 ACC(which is most likely true) when you see a high level samurai or warrior or what ever job and they have DEX stuff its not for them to hit more often its for them to get more criticals. ALSO this is the reason why you will see so many mithra THF's, mithra are a race which is very dextous and agile, this is exacly what a THF relys on, and so making them a perfect race for THF's. So dont go around saying that DEX is only for ACC because thats not its main point, the point of DEX is Critical Hits.

Leorance, just so you know. Thf's load up on Dex and Agi gear because accuracy and evasion effects the damage on their SATA ability. Dex (i.e. Accuracy) effects Sneak Attack and Agi (i.e. Evasion) effects Trick Attack. To simplify, the more Dex and Agi or Accuracy and Evasion they have, the more damage they do with SATA.

all stats have more than one role they play.
for instance, AGI plays into ranged acc. ranged damgage, parrying, evasion, and attack speed (to name just a few) hence the reason my rng parrys 1/4 of the time and has a parrying skill of 60.

DEX main role is, of course, critical hits. however, as anyone hopefully knows... a critical hit is when u hit some body part that is a weak point (i.e. head, neck, balls, etc) and how do u hit weak spots? with acc.-dex not only plays a role into DEX but also acc. so dont come on this webpage and chew ppl out, for making what u thought was a mistake. when in reality, u dont have ur facts straight.

<hmm> AGI affecting Ranged DAMAGE and attack speed? Accuracy affecting critical hit rate? hmm... man are you jk? Yea you must be jk.
RE: Gift from the Gods
# Aug 05 2005 at 3:14 AM Rating: Decent
no, actually im not.
Xbow damage = +30% agi
bow damage = +15% agi +15% str

AGI also gives attack speed. hence ninja's main trait is AGI for parrying, evasion, and attack speed.

look it up.

Sorry but I will also have to disagree with you. I have a 75 thf friend that helped me with a NM camp one time. We were both useing the same dagger for fun and we were hitting at the same time. Me being a 62 blm and him being a 75 thf, he obviously had about 40 ,if not more, more agi than I did. But like Arz says, it could just be so minute thats its not noticeable. As far as effecting your parrying skill, I dont know about that. You could be right on that I have now idea either way.
RE: Gift from the Gods
# Jun 09 2006 at 2:48 PM Rating: Default
No. Just... no. AGI doesn't affect attack speed. AGI affects ranged acc, enemy critical hit rate and evasion. That's it.

Reeeeeeeally going to have to disagree with the attack speed bit. Back when I was camping a certain Goblin Notorious Monster, I'd skill up on Cockatrices in the meantime with my RDM75 Mithra friend. At the time, I was a RDM61, and have always been a Hume. We're both a fan of the Wise Wizard's Anelace, so our delay was equal- but our AGI stat were drastically different. Yet, we were attacking at the exact same speed, out hits landing simultaneously. I've got screenshots of us connecting attacks against the enemy mob at the exact same time over and over again. In fact, we thought it was so funny, we would sync up out Haste Casting so we would attack even faster, yet still sync'd up.

So either AGI doesn't effect Attack Speed, or it is such a minute effect, that it is completely unnoticable by the naked eye. Unless you want to argue that a Hume RDM61 with INT and MP gear has more AGI than a Mithra RDM75 with Melee Gear.

Granted, this was by no means an actual, detailed experiment, I'm sure you could could always do a parser run with Wooden Katanas between a WAR10 and a SAM75 or something. *shrug*

As for the rest of the stats, I feel a SE-approved, Official Strategy Guide would suffice. Let's look in the Glossary. . .

"Agility (AGI) - Agility determines a character's effectiveness with ranged attacks; it also has a substantial impact on a person's chance to dodge enemy attacks.

Dexterity (DEX) - Dexterity is a combat attribute that affects a character's melee success rate and the chance to land a critical hit."
~Spring 2004 Version

, thus we can conclude that "melee success rate" would probably be Accuracy, and since there was no mention of Melee attack speed...well, I digress. Granted, there is no mention of parrying at all, so there is a lot this Glossary didn't include. And a Ninja's attack speed comes from the Dual Wield traits. It's why they can swing two 200 delay weapons at about the same speed as someone with a 300 delay weapon endgame.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 03 2005 at 8:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Everyone knows that dude, but at higher levels, people don't (or shouldn't) say, I'm gonna have +30 dex because I want to hit better, they'll say I want +30 dex because I want to to beat **** up fast and efficently, with many critical hits and hitting often.

I have this Earing. I found out about it from a Japanese friend, and was one of the first to get it on my server, camping it mere hours after the update. Despite what many say, this is a good piece of equipment. If i find that 2 Sniper's, a Haubergeon, Ryl Kgt Neck, Life Belt, Ryl Kgt Mufflers, Assault Earing just arent giving me enough accuracy, ill pop this baby on for the +1.

At low levels, Accuracy is an absoloute ***** to obtain. and this little baby is good for any DD. Elvaan will benefit from it more than other races, since they have more base att than anyone, so -2 isnt such a big problem.

Ahem, as someone called me an idiot for because i mis-explained what i meant. Elvaan have a high Base STR, there for have a higher ATT, Therefore will have plenty to spare for -2. They do not however have high DEX, which influences ACC, Therefore, this is a good earing for Elvaan melee. Clear enough now?

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 02 2005 at 8:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You are an idiot. There's no such thing as racial base attack stats. You have low accuracy because you're a dark knight, and with that comes the job trait Blindness.

Riiiiiight. You call this earring crap? Give me a better earring at level 10 and I'll take your word on it. The only earrings that i know of ,and could be wrong, are the elemental earring. I think that this earring is awesome for any race, not just elvaan. Any melee job would benefit from this earring.

He said useless drops lol. I can't think of any better earring for Dark Knight throughout dunes, especially Elvaan Dark Knights. And Carnero Drops the best Great Katana for 10 - all of dunes, unless you want 2 more damage instead of STR and DEX +1 at 15. The new drops are definately not crappy, and definately not useless :P
