These gloves are not so good for WHMs. The only good would be the -ENM, but if you need that at level 25, you either have a really bad tank or need to work on your hate control. The Devotee's Mitts(
  • http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=2094
  • ) are better
for WHM, but are 2 levels higher.

    Not to mention they're a lot cheaper to obtain ^^;

Haven't you ever heard of an equipment macro? These gloves are very nice for a WHM who accidentally pulled hate, or when you have a tank who can't keep perfect hate (and honestly, there are gonna be some big slip-ups at jungle levels.) If you can keep your finger on both these and a pair of Devotee's, you'll be in good shape. As a BLM36, I use these with my Seer's Mitts +1, and honestly, they're very nice. I wouldn't pick between these and Seer's or Devotee's, I'd use both.

I disagree about the -enmity not being useful at this level. Tanks have far fewer abilities to control hate with, and curing 80hp on someone with only 300 total hp draws a lot more hate than on someone with 1000. Not only that, but it gives 1 more defense than the gloves you are talking about (which is always good), and at this level of play, mnd stats don't affect cure potency very much at all. I would totally go for these over devotee's as whm.

The devotee's may have better mp and better mnd stats, but one of the biggest draws to these M. cuffs is that they have -enmity. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first -enmity modifier that any of these 3 jobs can get with the exception of a pumpkin head(which sacrifices all other stats for the enmity, while this still gives useful stats as well as the -enmity). I think these things rock but would have to see if I really needed the extra 3 mnd and 8 mp at this lvl to determine which gloves I'd be using.

lol I got these pair even before Alla had it on their new updated items list. I was camping these with my girlfriend, we were about 1/8 on this guy without any TH. She was so happy, but then I went to get a pair for myself and it dropped on the second shot 0_0. These gloves are a must have for whm's, cure II spam <Do you need it?> :P

    We were 1/8? o_o I didn't realize that. And, I didn't know you went back. ;o; Anywho...

YES, I have these cuffs, and I haven't tried them out yet.

Well, all I saw was that it spawns on mushrooms, and takes a danceshroom, woozyshroom, and sleepshroom to spawn. Luckily, 2 of these mushrooms (sleep and woozy) drop from the Shriekers in the inside of the cave. However, you might want to bring a stack of danceshrooms. The battle doesn't take long, but you might want to bring Erase/Poisona/Viruna with you. Bio, Virus, and Poison are pretty annoying. The fight doesn't last long, and will rip through Stoneskin as fast as possible. These gloves are a keeper, for the -2 Enmity (so now I can sell my Zealot Mitts >o<).

My friend who camped the hell out of this mob when he first learned of it, was disappointed that it was only for WHM/BLM/SMN, since he was the Thief. But still camped it for everyone in the LS. Anyway, he made a good comparison:

    "They're like Seer's Mitts +1 with Emnity -2." -- Getterdone.

They are really good for the jobs that can equip it. And even though it doesn't have Int +2 like the Seer's Mitts +1, that Emnity -2 makes up for it.
    I want them!

    not for RDM
    # Aug 04 2005 at 5:25 PM Rating: Decent
These would be good for RDM seeing as they have both MND and INT but then theyre not useable by RDM which sounds stupid.
    RE: not for RDM
    # Aug 06 2005 at 3:30 PM Rating: Decent
Most of the time Rdms dont even use equipment with a moderate amount of both Mnd and Int. Instead they get the best of both worlds by using EQUIPMENT CHANGE MACROS *gasp*

    Carpenter's Landing NM Mycophile

This is a BLM Funguar that is force spawned in Carpenter's Landing.

You go to (I-11) in Carpenter's Landing with a Danceshroom, Sleepshroom and Woozyshroom. When you get there you should see a ???. If not, it is possible another person has spawned it before you and you must wait 15 minutes for the respawn of the ???. This NM was VERY easy for me as 47SMN. I suggest the NM is soloable easily no problem at 50, and ok so-so at 40. I got the Mycophile Cuffs on first kill.

For you people who do not like reading details...

    Notorious Monster: Mycophile.
    Family: Funguar.
    Job: Black Mage.
    Location: Carpenter's Landing.
    Position: (I-11)
Spawn Time: Force spawned at location mentioned
    mentioned above with a Sleepshroom,
    Woozyshroom, and Danceshroom. Trade
these 3 items to the ??? at the
    location specified above.
    Level:I recommend 50.

Note: The Danceshroom CAN NOT be obtained by the
funguar in Carpenter's Landing. If your AH
is out, try Exorays in Crawlers' Nest.

    I hope this info helps ^^;

Should be noted that the cuffs are most certainly not a 100% drop, so bring lots of triggers when you come.

The mob only casts a few spells:

    Poison - Poisons you.
Bio II - Lowers your attack and gradually decreases HP.
Virus - Inflics Plague on you. Plague slowly drains MP and TP from its target. Very annoying. Bring Viruna.

Also does the usual Funguar TP moves like Queazyshroom, Silence Gas, Spore, etc.
    nice stuff

I got these with a couple of friends, we're 3/4 with TH1 only. I'm pretty sure the respawn timer is 15 minutes too. The gloves are level 25.
    level?

    What level are these cuffs?
    RE: level?
    # Aug 04 2005 at 7:47 PM Rating: Decent
the cuffs are lvl 25 to use... -2 emnity is unheard of for mages at this lvl which makes them really good. I got this for my main, my mule, and was there with a friend too. We saw 2 drops out of 4 spawns...and also another guy showed up and spawned it with no drop. We ran out of danceshrooms thou and none were on AH. My friend went and got a few more danceshrooms and got himself and his mule a pair eventually too. I would say its about 50% drop rate.... that was with TH1 subbed on my ranger. But 15 minutes to respawn, no biggie.
    Better than Seer's Mitts.

These are some nice gloves. There is like a 15 minute timer on the ??? respawning. My linkshell is like 4/5 on drops with TH2 and 1/8 without any treasure hunter so get a thief friend to come along. You might even get orctrap while you wait.
