Infos all there - it tells you which mob drops it clearly - Shen. If you can loook this up, then you can look up the mob, yoyoyo.

I have a quick question for those who have done this before. Is this 100% drop or should I bring enough materials to make a few Shrimp Lanterns? Thank you in advance.

Hello this is Maiarnyc, im on my brothers account right now. Today we went 12/14 on this fight, It was amazing how easy it was when you have the right party. it must be a record for most drops in 1 day on this fight. we started out only 6 needing it but as we keep going more and more whms start poping up on the scene. They did some outside healing. We did light sc to start with 300 tp and blasted away on it, Burst 2,Thundaga 3,Thunder 4,Tornado 2,Blizzard 4, Blizzaga 3.
on the 14th fight, we tried to fight it with 14 in alliance. We got it down to about 20% before the add ons just over whelmed us. But it was a fun way to go out.
shouts to Countalucard, danyil, badong, dyrk, elphie, tristen, darkjedi, oblivion ,kae, nitta, mizunos, and if i forgot a few im sorry way to many to remember w/o writing it down. If you need help with this or other NMs tell/me .
Maiar whm 75 blm 73 rdm 45 . Rostrum pumps next run. <(*.*<).w

I was the fortunate one to get this bad boy. the filtrates can be slept, i know first hand i slept one at lv 71 blm. but i didnt have thundaga 3 or bliazzaga 3 at the time so i casted thunder 3 and blizzard 3. and stunned aoe waterga 3 spells. I wanna thank all those who helped me. Paxton,Leteuce,Rohde, on Hades server. And i will be available to do fight again for those who didnt get theres. Now im lv 73 blm, Thundaga3 here we go. lmfao

I just got mine yesterday! ^^ So happy about it!
To think that when I was a lv 10 I though I'd never have one... *sighs*

And to conmemorate the event, I acted as a melee in Dynamis X3

*end rant*
Very nice!

It's a WHM hauby with SH+ stats! Seriously, I want this piece of armor... more than Noble's, Blessed, and Cleric's combined! Will be an end-game goal for me. ^^

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 25 2006 at 2:17 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Reverend Mail is sweet, for any Whm thinking about getting this, its worth the time in setting up a Shen fight. To those of you who think its not fair that whm gets a good piece of armor like this, think about it like this. Whm gets VERY little when it comes to DD gear, good armor is a royal pain to get, and our only good clubs are so so hard to get. for the Pirate NMs, most Whms wait for weeks-months of straight camping the boats, both NMs are rare and then, we gotta hope they drop. Morgenstern drops from a KSNM that nobody does, Purgatory Mace drops from KSNM99. So please dont hate, we Whm have it so hard when it comes to any kind of decent DD gear.

Square enix has stated a few times that they want white mage to tak a more active role in combat other than just casting heals, i think this item was only the begining.

This also looks like a great piece to have for a whm /nin tank.

God whms make such bad-*** tanks, so.. I dunno, looks like it might be good for that.
why we needs this item
# Mar 04 2006 at 1:16 PM Rating: Decent
For those who can't figure out why a WHM would need this - because we need all the accuracy we can get when we're in skill-up parties. Think about it, since we almost never melee in exp pts, we need the most levels out of skill up pts, and with our low melee stats (like agi, dex, etc) we need the accuracy.

ok, well that would explain nothing to someone who wants to know why you would need it. The genereal logic behind people who think like that have the mindset of "whm meleeing? wtf? Why would they need to skill up club anyways," to which the answer would be, "because we want to. We have +STR, VIT, and AGI on our AF armor for a reason. We're also the only job that can solo Light with one type of weapon, and we do it damned well."

I have seen a samurai solo skill chain by getting 100%tp > meditate > ws > ranged attack/swing their great katana > ws with normal weapons = solo sc. But I know what you mean. I am also a fellow whm and am so pro melee whms.

This piece of gear does make sense if you remember that we got the Holy Breastplate with 45 DEF at lvl 40. Highest DEF body for any job in that range.

I just got mine on Friday. I recommend wearing crow stuff for hands and feet to finish the look of being a melee.
I love it...

I love my Reverend Mail. Now I go as WHM75/NIN37 to Skill up parties and dual wield Darksteel Maul +1s to do some DD!

The reason why we get this piece, is a small reward for those 75 Levels of listening to people cry for cures, raises, sneak, invisble, etc etc. and it finally lets us get out there and melee with the big boy/girls.

Combined with the optical hat, I love it.
Having my evasion capped at 200 (+55 with my gear) really helps when soloing.

BLMs vs Mellee

I've fought Shen two ways now: one in a BLM-alliance, the other in a regular Mellee alliance. With BLMs, the NM will resist 50% on all nukes, even at level 75 with anti-resist gear on. Lower level BLMs have severe resists, so take high levels and use Manafont and Elemental Seal at the start. Thundaga IIIs hit for 700s or less, most nukes are 500s.
With Mellee, the best weaponskill was Spirits within, hitting for 500s. and other weaponskills hitting for 100s. Thereafter, mellee's were doing about 10 damage per hit.

I don't get it, why manafont at the start? You should have full MP at the start...

RE: huh?
# Sep 30 2005 at 9:37 PM Rating: Decent
This is just my n00bish BLM guess, but you're gonna want to Manafont at the beginning for 3 reasons.

1) -aga spells take a lot of MP, and you'll want to dish out as much damage at the beginning of the battle as possible.
2) To cake on as much enfeebling-spells as possible, and see what sticks/is resisted.
3) In a BLM alliance, there's gonna be a lot of curing going on, seeing as there will only be a few people that can take any damage at all.

Again, just my guess, put I s'pose it makes some sort've sense.

I'm not a BLM so I have no idea but this is just my guess.

Manafont might make spells more powerful and you are unable to be interrupted while casting with Manafont (without stoneskin/blink up)

Again I'm not a BLM so plz don't chew me out if this is incorrect lol

Kill Shen :D

recommended party for this - full alliance of course. Setup should be close to this.

2 melee that can do a light chain
2 melee that can do a dark chain
10-12 blms and 2 rdm/brd (One for each blm party)
Clear the area around the ???

the 4 melee get tp, then summon shen
light chain - blms cast thundaga III
dark chain - blms cast blizzaga III

If shen is not dead, nuke til hes pushing up daisies. We were able to kill shen in under 30 -45 seconds

What type of party do you need to kill this NM? Is it soloable or is it more like an HNM fight? If you have beaten this NM please post how the fight went. Would just a few 75's kill it or do I need a full alliance? Also what special attacks does it use so I can be prepared?
