Definitely one of the better DRK Helms. The additional damage % does suck but if you are a smart DRK you should be able to control your hate.

The enhancement on absorbs is that they last 15 sec longer per JSE piece.

Interesting thing about this:

When fighting tonberrys, it is possible for someone to be killed 100% of the time by throat stab.
Throat stab takse 95%(or 99% forget which) of your HP, but with the 10% increase in damage taken, it'll automatically kill you. Happened to a DRK friend of mine, lol, he'll tell you it's fact. v.v

Also he told me the 10% increase enhances Soul Eater effects since the damage is based on the amount of damage you take apparently.

Actually, I also had 2 pieces of the Black set at one point. Plastron and Black cuisses, and ill let you know, i saw no increased dmg in souleater. Perhaps your friend didnt take into account another souleater enhancing items he might have had equipped, or another buff.

I'm no DRK, but the "Enhances effects of 'Absorb' spells" sounds quite intriguing. Have any DRKs tested these pieces of equipment? And if so.. I must wonder.. although Absorb-STR, Absorb-DEX, etc are most obviously 'Absorb' type spells, would Drain and Aspir be considered such as well? If so, then wearing these pieces of equipment would greatly enhance a DRKs ability to regain his/her MP and HP. Therefore, the Damage Taken +##% would somewhat be negated. On a similar note, as others have said, the Damage Taken +##% can be good and bad both. Good side is that it increases the amount of hate that you lose when the enemy hits you. The bad side is that it increases the amount of HP you lose.
Of course, if the idea that Drain and Aspir are possibly considered 'Absorb' type spells (which I highly doubt, though it never hurts to test), then HP loss should be not as much of a problem, especially if your healer also keeps Regen on you to aid in the HP loss.
So again I ask.. have any DRKs tested this? If so and those two spells are not considered 'Absorb' types, then just disregard that point but still take into consideration the other points..

ok...now if u remember ...when a mob hits u u lose hate..just as if u lose a shawdow u will lose hate

so...if a drk DOES take hate it will probably hit em once and then go back to the pld ...just like with mages....the mob give em 1 good hit then goes to a different person

so if u are a drk all u gotta do is make sure u got someone curing u and then drain back ur hp...by then the tank should have hate back by then and if not then either leave ur pt or get another tank

Sure, DRK's are gonna get hit now and then cause they hit SO damn hard. But, if you have a Pally, this shouldn't be a problem. Yes, 10% damage loss sucks, but you're not the tank. Not only that, we're talking ACC+6....that's ALOT compared to most armor that give you less. I'd TOTALLY wear the hell outta this gear if I had the exp.

To answer that, Its not a good thing. What is good is the great acc and atk it gives, plus getting 1 more stat of your choice with the absorb spells. When combined with the full set, you get 4 more of each stat when u absorb. Considering ppl pay up to 7 mil for 2 STR on earring, this is a good deal, since you absorb 19 of any stat you want.
I have the Black cuisses of the set, the pants. I must say, the +13% dmg taken isnt all that bad they make it out to be. Its usually barely noticeable, since DRKs take a beating anyway. If you sub thf, more power to you, you prolly wont pull hate since ur putting it on someone else. But in a VT party, sub war and go all out

The DRK should never get hate if they sub THF and play with a PLD. This is the best equip out there for DRKs.

That is a bad penilty. espically at level 71 i suspect DRK would be taking hate quite a bit because of the massive damage.

You are correct, +10% dmg isn't a good thing. The stat is the penalty for using this item in exchange for the +6 acc, +11 att, and enhancing absorb spells.
