Summary

A strange voice from within Carbuncle's Ruby is asking you to gather the seven colors of light...

Walkthrough

Go out and fight leeches, they will drop a Carbuncle's Ruby, which is a very rare drop. Once you have the stone item, go to Windurst Walls and click on the door in the House of the Hero to talk to Ajido-Marujido. You will be told to experience all 7 weather elements. To do this, visit various zones until you have seen each type of weather pattern in the world (you will be shown a cutscene of the stone changing color). NOTE: You cannot acquire weather effects in towns or dungeons, nor can you obtain them from a Scholar casting the weather effect on you.

  • Red - heat - Valkurm, Rolanberry, Altepa, Yhoator Jungle, Meriphatud Mountains.
  • Orange - clear skies - most places
  • Yellow - sand - Valkurm, Tahrongi, Konschtat.
  • Green - wind - Tahrongi, Mhaura, La Theine.
  • Indigo - ice - Xarcabard, Beaucedine etc.
  • Blue - rain - La Theine, Pashhow, Rolanberry, Buburimu, Yhoator Jungle, boat rides
  • Violet - thunder - Konschtat, Jugner, boat rides

You will know you got the pattern by zoning and seeing a cut scene. If you don't get a cut scene, you didn't get the pattern. You don't have to be near the weather, just in the same zone as it.

Once you have all 7 patterns, go to La Thiene Plateau and find the stone circle at G-6. Trade the stone to ??? and you will get flagged to be able to change jobs to Summoner.

yes the only way out is through batallia.. i just finished this without a map and it wasn't to hard with invs/sneak etc to get back out. the batallia zone out is south so i simply headed that way till i reached it.
this sucks

I am also doing summoner quest and trying to get Ice from here.

You definitely cannot access this area from batallia downs - you can only access it by travelling through the Ranguemont (sp) Pass which is most northerly point of East Ronfaire. You travel through the pass until you reach a room with a gate guard. She will open the gate for you but once you pass through it you have to find another way out - Battalia downs must be the exit only?

I just tried to go through Rangemont to the glacier and went past the one way door. after wandering for some time we found an exit and it took us back to E> Ronfaure. So the Glacier is not the only exit beyond that door.

Collecting Elements

The easiest way to get the element effects is to take advantage of the feature in the game that lists them. Each city has one or more weather forecasters scattered around that will give you the weather forecast for the next three game days in some of the nearby areas. Visit one of them, get a list of the weather in the surrounding areas, and figure out which ones you might want to catch. Then go to the appropriate area on the correct game day and wait around for the weather effect to appear.

I was having a horrible time getting the heat wave weather because it wasn't coming up in either Valkurm or Rolandberry (the two places I've seen it listed). When I was waiting in Kazham to catch the airship (after a trip to Norg) I happened to check with the weather person there and found out that the jungle had a forecast of possible heat waves for the next day and the day after. So it was a simple matter to wait for an hour or so for the next day to arrive, then leave the city and wait until the fire icon appeared. I ducked into the city, came back out, and I was finished with that stage of the quest.

Also note that if you use the /clock command, it will (in addition to displaying the current date, time, moon phase, etc...) turn off your on-screen weather icon and clock symbol. So make certain that your clock is showing if you go looking for the various weather types. Typing /clock once again will fix this.

Fought Acrphies in Qufim for about 5 hours, not a single ruby. Going to try fighting the low level ones near Mhaura/Selbina and try and get some thieves to help me out.

I can confirm that the ruby drops off the poison leeches on the coastal line west of Mhuara. Helped a friend get it off of them after I had already gotten mine off Acrophies in Qufim.

Entrance to Glacier?
# Nov 29 2003 at 5:09 PM Rating: Default
How do you get to the glacier? I see an entrance from Batallia Downs on the glacier map - but I can't find that entrance in Batallia....

Can you get there that way? Or do you HAVE to go through the pass connecting to East Ron?
Fire Colour

What does the Icon for the fire color look like? As well is the forecast for the fire color just, "Sunny"? Or is there another listing for it.

Lightning/Violet
# Nov 27 2003 at 7:55 AM Rating: Decent

Can anybody tell me how to get the lightning element from Jugner? I have literally sat infront of them comp for TEN hours to watch it rain and shine but i never got the Thunder element to appear. Is there a reason for that?
RE: Lightning/Violet
# Jan 27 2004 at 6:27 AM Rating: Decent
It has to be the weather when you ENTER the area, so if you just sit around it does you no good, no matter what weather you experience.
RE: Lightning/Violet
# Nov 30 2003 at 7:49 AM Rating: Default
why get it in jugner when it happens every day in quifim?

Found in Buri
# Nov 23 2003 at 9:45 AM Rating: Default
Carbuncles Ruby dropped off a leech for my group last night in the Buri Peninsula on one of the beaches there. We were working on the support job quest and one just happened to drop off a leech. They do seem quite rare as we have fought there several times and this is the first one we have seen.

You also dont need to be level 30 to hunt there for the Ruby. We were a group ranging from levels 18-22.
Where?

Where exactly is Ajido at? I ran around a while yesterday in Windurst trying to find him at the given position, but never saw him.

RE: Choco
# Nov 25 2003 at 4:06 PM Rating: Default

What realm?

RE: What realm?

by the time you are level 30 and can get this quest, you will be able to move relatively quickly between the 3 realms and do quests in each of them

# Nov 19 2003 at 6:15 PM Rating: Default
You need to fight decent leeches , one of them are the kinds off in Buri. next to Mhaura city , or the ones in Quifim Island. I am a rogue myself , and at that lvl , it seems to drop a lot for the group , maybe because of the treasure hunter I (passive skill). The Gem dropped 4 in 4 hours or so.
So for those who is interested in becoming a summoner , just get a rogue in your group , and hunt these leeches. They are supposively ultra rare drop , even people from beta I heard did not get it.
Is my only advice out from camping these leeches so far.
Carbuncles ruby
# Nov 17 2003 at 8:58 AM Rating: Default
Okay the leeches you have to fight for the 'stone' which is known as "Carbuncles Ruby" are in Quifim, which is a zone off of jeuno. They are about level 30 and groups don't seem to really hunt them. It was pure luck that my guild got two of them.

Hope this helps somebody.

This guide totally worked form me, start to end. The only thing I'd like to add is the Ice one is a pain. Be SURE you have Sneak/Invisible with you, else it's suicide even at 33.
