SummaryA strange voice from within Carbuncle's Ruby is asking you to gather the seven colors of light... WalkthroughGo out and fight leeches, they will drop a Carbuncle's Ruby, which is a very rare drop. Once you have the stone item, go to Windurst Walls and click on the door in the House of the Hero to talk to Ajido-Marujido. You will be told to experience all 7 weather elements. To do this, visit various zones until you have seen each type of weather pattern in the world (you will be shown a cutscene of the stone changing color). NOTE: You cannot acquire weather effects in towns or dungeons, nor can you obtain them from a Scholar casting the weather effect on you.
You will know you got the pattern by zoning and seeing a cut scene. If you don't get a cut scene, you didn't get the pattern. You don't have to be near the weather, just in the same zone as it. Once you have all 7 patterns, go to La Thiene Plateau and find the stone circle at G-6. Trade the stone to ??? and you will get flagged to be able to change jobs to Summoner. Valkurm is a pretty good place to get it. Seems to happen pretty often over there, and at least you don't have to journey too far out.

Killed 50+ leeches in Valkurm Dunes and 50+ in Buburimu Peninsula, no drop. I went to Qufim Island on Friday night...got the ruby on the third fight.
All I need right now is the red pattern, then I'm done with this quest.

I'de suggest heading to altepa or valkurm during fire day, it may take a while for fire day to come, but this game takes patience :D

I got the ruby on my 6th fight at buburimu peninsula with my friend lvl 46 THF.
I HATE THIS QUEST
right so far i hav evrything apart from fire and thunder ( got ice as i zoned and died at same time ^^ and it counted ) going to get thunder from jugner
and fire from dunes (tht should take a good few days ;-() anyway took me 1 hr to get ruby with as rdm 61 helping [b][/b]i will do this quest by 2moz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't even looking for the ruby ( I was trying to learn a spell) and I got the drop. woo freakin hoo !! Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
p.s. I had a harder time learning the spell if that means anything to you.

Got my ruby on second kill in Buburimu as a 36 RDM/18BLM, so I don't think it really matters if you have TH2 or not, or maybe I'm just really lucky ^^

i went there too and 2nd kill with th1 and for fire i went to the meph mountians near windy to get fire the dunes wouldnt do it for me so 1 day and a half to get everything but ice on fairy my ls wont take me for it they're busy with stuff so if you find me on in the next couple days could some one take me?

I was wondering if there is a place I can solo leeches as a lvl 32 whm/blm. want to be able to kill them easyily incase I get a link.

I also got all my elements in less than 30 minutes...I had a high lvl whm help me by Tele...and I got clear, earth, fire, thunder, and wind from going between Valkurm and Konschtat, got ice from glacier, and got water from Buburimu peninsula...
I guess I also am a lucky one...but I deserved it that way...seeing as it took 146 leeches to get the Ruby...>.<

fire is hardest one... ice is just rinning right way thro the tunnel to glacier... i ran wrong way and aggroed hecteyes but thats junk info

Ok day 4 no fire, got ice no problem... Still cant get fire i spent most of day 3 in the Valkum Dunes and could seem to get anything other then wind.. So after checking the net and talking to people i went out to Kazham and then Yhoater Jungle.. im out there cause personaly thats the only area i have seen fire... so i was outthere for 2.5 hours last night and nothing but rain... this is driving me nuts, the BRD and BST quests were sooooo much easier then this

If you have done the SOB quest that had them break in and wake Joker up, then Joker will greet you. Otherwise the minister will be the one to start the quest.

Just finished this quest on the Hades server. I had an LS picture to take on the beach, so afterwards my linkshell helped me get the ruby. Got it after 4 leeches.
So from Jueno, I head to Rolanberry and get Clear Skies, head back to Battalia Downs and got Sandstorm, went to Jugner for Lightning, it immediately changed to rain so I zoned out and in, and La Thiene gave me wind.
From Sandy, I got some Invis and Sneak potions. There is one part where you MAY need a Scent potion too. Basically through the cave, avoid oozes as they aggro to smell and just keep Sneak and Invis up. If you took the best route, you'll only encounter the room with the Giant Scorpion alone once. This guy aggros by smell apparently and caused my death once. Either apply scent here, or just wait for him to get to the other side of the room and sneak across the opposite side. After that I zoned into Beaucedine Glacier and got Ice.
Fire was the most annoying. For about 6 hours I monitored all the nearby areas. Finally I went to Altepa, still no damn fire. Took me 3 real life days to finally log in and get fire.

i'm exace on the asura server. well, i had just come from kazham and i was lv 29 drk with a couple hunred tnl, so i decided to solo for a bit in quifim. while there, a couple ppl asked me if i wanted to chain acrophies(a type of leech ^^) in order to get carbys ruby. so i was like, wat the hell, y not, i'll get some exp while im at it. after the 5th fight, we found a ruby. and none of us had it already, so we all casted lots for it, and amazingly, i got it. then i got my lv, and then my parents told me to log. i originally wanted to be a smn, but then i saw a sweet *** video of a drk in balissta, but i guess i wouldnt mind having smn too much. i just got to do the rest of the quest now XD. if anyone has any advice, or you are on the asura server, giv me a shout. (P.S. i got lucky, i stayed with thos guys for an hour and a half after i got my ruby and not one more was dropped. so glad i got it ^^)

getting the ruby was easy, got it on 12th kill in buburimu peninsula, as a THF45/NIN22... got sky fast... then went to beaucadine glacier got ice right away.... then went to jeuno... had someone monitering altepa for me, waited for it got fire... 2 hardest ones done ^^ then the rest were easy... till wind elemental which im waiting in la thiene plateau for still... stupid thing wont come! its always rain!
Is it possible that you can experience the different weathers on Chocobo and the task will still be successful?

no of course not, you get a Cut-scene when you expierience the weather types, that all.

SMN are powerfull as hell. I love the things they can summon and one of my favorites is Ifrit. You could take on tough *** enemies by yourself with it. I might become a full time SMN for a while then go back to my lvl 30 WAR or at the time it might be lvl 31-40.

I went to J-10 in Rolanberry, killed 3 leeches that spawned near the fence, third one was the charm. Went to Windy, got the quest. Walked on Windsday in East Saru and got clear skies.
---> Next RL day(slept).
Started my quest on Lights day, ended up being perfect. Rains on Lights day in Rolanberry. Key is you have to zone, if you are in the zone when it starts to rain etc.. you have to zone then go back out to get the cut scene. Darksday, it thundered in Konschatat Highlands. Then, on Firesday, I went to Valkurn Dunes!--> Wah?! Expierienced Earth not Fire /cry. So its earthsday now... and I'm omw to expierience Wind in one of these areas:Tahrongi, Mhaura, La Theine. Wish me luck I'll keep ya posted...

I got my ruby yesterday on Asura. we farmed this ruby in Buburimu peninsula with an alliance of 10 ppl. 3 thiefs (lvl 45, 60, 70).
on each beach we pleaced 3 members and killed the poison leeches. after 3hours we got 5 rubys for all the members who need this.
I think a thief with treasurehunter 2 is a musthave to get this drop fast.

you can get the carbuncles ruby the easiest at Buburimu peninsula and kill the poison leeches. if someone in your party has the ruby with them. the drop rate to get another one is a little higher.

Im Kenshinx in hydra server. Im moving to ifrit server lvl 30 WAR, 13 WHM, 10 MNK, 7 PLD, 6 BST and something else. I just wanted to know if this quest takes a long time but i got the carbuncles ruby at lvl 28. do i have to go experience the weathers in order or no? if you know or did this please tell me.

Man me and my Buddy 30 ish RDM both have been trying to get the stupid Ruby while on Hydra server X-BOX 360 Beta. We are now moving to Ifirit server in hopes to have better luck. We have tried Quifm/Wadi/Rolanberry and nothing so far and I think I have a personel count of more than 200 ish leeches and nothing. If there is a really special place, I mean really speical I would really appriate help in this. I feel the pain of the Summoner. We had a lot of luck getting our Subjob Maj Skull but now we are cursed. We even helped countless people get there skull but no luck with stupid Ruby. Please tell me. email; kdornin@san.rr.com Just label Stupid Ruby.
Dude's and Dudette's do you need to speak to the NPC first before pulling the Ruby off a leech or can you pull Ruby than speak to him. Please let me know the way you did this and how long it took and I will re thread with what happen.

I didn't see this mentioned and I think it'd help a lot of people doing this quest: if the weather that you need pops up while you are mid-zone, you don't need to rush to zone and back. You can logout (NOT temp log) and log back in. This counts as a zone and you will get weather when you reappear in-game. Temp orary log doesn't work.
I found this especially useful for snow weather. I got teleported to Xarcabard, but I didnt want to stray from crystal, so I waited for snow, logged out and in - got weather, warped out.

I know a lot of people will hate me for this post, but haha! idc.....My friend was taking me around to get telepoint crystals for yhoator jubgle, xarcabard, and Altepa desert. Traveling thru koraloka tunnel, and my friend kills ONE leach and Carbuncle's Ruby drops. I lotted, got drop, 3/7. ^^

i wnet in quifim knowing there is always a lightning elimental there, and i went in, there was one there, and it got no cut scene?? any ideas why?

Yeha, you cannot get the Weather in a dungeon, it has to be in an outside area... anywhere thats not a town or dungeon.. okay...
