Mission Orders

Rescue the children held captive in the Orcish camp in Ghelsba Outpost.

Walkthrough

Begin this mission by speaking with a gate guard in San d'Oria. The guard sends you to talk to a priest in the Cathedral in Northern San d'Oria. The priest is Arnau, found at the altar directly opposite the entrance to the Cathedral at (M-6).

The orcs have captured some children and are holding them in Ghelsba Outpost. (You can buy a map of the outpost in town.)

Exit town to West Ronfaure and head northwest until you reach a path leading north into a cave (E-4) to Ghelsba Outpost.

The children can be found at location G-9 of the map. When you open the door, you will get several options presented to you. Take the first one. This triggers a fight with 3 orcs, so you need to be in a group. Defeat the orcs and you will get a key which you can use to open the door and release the children. Go to the gate guard for a cutscene, then back to Arnau for another cutscene.

NOTE: If you redo this mission you will get a new cut scene to add to the storyline.

Priests name is ARNAU
Do it twice!

You can do this quest twice. And you should because they are not identical. You get different cut scenes and the reward is different (albeit, less).

The first quest shows the movie with the prince and shows the bishop (i assume) cursing the meddling kid (just 1 kid)...which I assume alludes to another quest/story later on. Evil Bishop! This quest bumps you up to rank 2 and sports you $1000. (FYI. don't bother raising your ranks before this mission. it just screws you out of rank xp since you get bumped to 2. Like don't do the bat hut repeatedly or spend crystals.)

The 2nd cut scene shows that the same kid came back and brought a friend. This time, someone else comes to pick them up. The reward for this is just rank points. More on the story though.

You buy the map from an old lady in the fountain square in the parade grounds of nsandoria. She has around 6 maps you can choose from
RE: map
# Nov 10 2003 at 4:04 PM Rating: Default
That's not where the map vendor is. She is located either at the west gate or the east gate by the tree (I forget which). One side has a map vendor, the other side has the woman who wants the signposts cleaned.

There IS an old woman in the fountain of the parade grounds that sells the map. I also bought it there.

where can i get the map of the outpost?
Ghelsba Locatioin
# Nov 09 2003 at 11:50 AM Rating: Default
Ghelsba's ocatioin is at E-3 on the map. You go up a channel with plenty of goblin inplacements, and into the cave. You come out in the Ghelshba /Goblin Outpost
Gehlsba?

Where is ghelsba? (I mean the exact position (sthing like H-9, J-9..etc) of it on West Ronfaure's map)
lvl 11 should be fine
# Nov 07 2003 at 10:32 AM Rating: Default
I think your lvl 11 could do it without too much difficulty. I went in as level 12 War and a lvl 8 WHM and it provided no challenge at all. The chief fell very quickly with no WS or JA.
Two cents worth

Soloable or not depends on class; if you are a monk or warrior, you can solo a lot with the 2 hour discipline. If you are a mage class or a thief, your soloing options are more limited.

Also, if you have gil, anyone can use the curing items. If you go around and talk to NPC's, you can get lots of minor quests (turn in a couple batwings, etc.) that are repeatable for 200 or 300 gil a pop. Some that are worth more. A cure only costs about 300gil.

Soloable or not is dependent on your class, equipment and skill. Also, always check stores and not just the AH -- you will find people often are charging MUCH more (double or more) what the items can be bought for from vendors.

Hard, but possible

I soloed this at lvl 8 warrior with leather equip and bronze sword
What I did was run around killing things until my TP was at about 100 then I went into battle, hit him like two or three times *to pump the tp just a little more* then hit him with Fast Swing
Then I used Mighty Strike *I think thats what its called.. the 2 hr skill* and then proceeded to finish him and the two little archers off... hard but if you time it right it can be done :)
Again?

Now I'm supposed to go back there again to save more children?!
O verly cautious

I waited way too long to do this quest because I wanted to be sure that I could do it solo. When I finally tried the quest for the first time with my lvl 12 monk, I breezed through it, only losing about 40 hp.

My suggestion is that you go ahead and try to solo this if you are level 10 or above. It's really very easy. If you did the tombstone quest alone, you are prolly very close to being able to solo this one.

Easy

Make sure that if you're in the group, that the rest of your people are close by, and that YOU, or the person who NEEDS the quest, is the one who clicks on the hut door. The rest of your group should join in.

Also, when you get transferred, DON'T MOVE until you are ready to fight. If you move forward, the enemies will turn aggro and start to fight.

I did this at level 7, with a form of 2 other people at level 8, and it wasn't bad. Did it in 2 and a half minutes, including 'organizing' time for us at the beginning.

Just want to clear something up
# Nov 05 2003 at 9:35 AM Rating: Default
It says you have to be level 11, but this is not true IF you have a group. Problem is a group can be hard to find. I did this at level 8 with a full group and it was a breeze. If you are Level 11 I would think it would still be hard to solo unless you are a maxed out warrior.

I did it solo as a lvl 10 rdm, it's very doable.

I solo'd the orcs (3 of them.. 1 melee and 2 archers) at level 11 with a warrior (Decent equipment).
Orc Guards
# Nov 04 2003 at 12:46 PM Rating: Decent
How tough are the guards in the building? There are 4, correct? They all agro on you at once? Would a lvl 11 warrior be able to take them alone?
over and over again?
# Nov 03 2003 at 7:07 PM Rating: Default
anyone know if this mission is repeatable? if so what's the timer? Seems like a great way for a lvl 10-13 to earn some money, solo.
infoz.

The main priest standing on the pulpit in the cathedral is the guy you want to talk to. it spawns a cut scene that you really will enjoy. then you go the orc hut on the first level up in ghelsba(zone out to west. and hug the right wall and you'll come to a cave thats ghelsba) get a group. because the guys you spawn are mean as heck.
Map Vendor location in South San d'Oria

There's a map vendor in South San d'Oria near the bind crystal at the west gate. Viotte is the name if I remember it correctly.

In the NW Corner of the West woods

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/images/areas/W_RONFAURE.jpg

Head through the 'guards' and through the cave till you get the the first 'Orc village' then keep to your left and head through the pass to the second village, the building is the big one on stilts.

I know where the priest is.
# Nov 02 2003 at 3:52 AM Rating: Default
Yeah. Go talk to the guy standing at the end of the main Cathedral. You can't miss him. He's sort of like the main sermonizer. If you've done the blue peas quest, it's the guy who gave the sermon for that.
Where is the Priest?
# Nov 02 2003 at 1:57 AM Rating: Default
Im having a hard time finding the Priest that I supposed to talk to. Any Ideas? Also I was able to get this quest from the guard at level 10.
