Mission Orders

Visit the faraway nations of Bastok and Federation of Windurst and receive official recognition as an adventurer.

Walkthrough

The guard sends you to talk to Halver in Northern San d'Oria. He needs you to help out at Bastok and Federation of Windurst embassies. You can do this in any order.

Bastok

If you chose to start in Bastok, go speak with Pius in the office of the President. If you have done Federation of Windurst first, you will need to speak to the San d'Orian Consulate Savae E Paleade before going to see Pius.

You will be sent to Palborough Mines to get some Mythril Sand. First, check the Auction House to see if there are any Mine Gravel for sale. If so, buy it. If not, talk to Grohm in Metalworks and he will give you three Pickaxes. Just in case, you should buy some extras. They are sold by Boytz in Bastok Mines or at the Auction House.

Note: You must talk to Grohm to get a cut scene to be able to complete this mission.

In Palborough Mines at (F-7, first floor), you will find the Mythril Seam. Use the Pickaxe on the Mythril Seam until you get a Mine Gravel. (obviously you can skip this if you bought the gravel)

Once you get the gravel, find the Refiner on the third floor at (I-7). Trade the Mine Gravel to the Refiner and the machine will begin to work. Head to the machine on the second floor and pull the lever. You should receive an oz. of Mythril Sand. You can take a shortcut back to Bastok by jumping into the boat on the third floor.

Trade the Mythril Sand to Savae E Paleade.

Next, it's off to Federation of Windurst!

Next head to the ambassador in Federation of Windurst. He sends you to a tower in Windurst Walls to get a key. Zone into Heaven's Tower and speak to Kupipi to get the key and head off to Giddeus. At this point, you will need a full group. You can buy a map of Giddeus in Windurst Woods.

When you get to Giddeus you want to go to a burning circle located at G-12 in the southwest corner. Get ready for battle. Head into the circle and a dragon will appear. You need to defeat the dragon. After you do it, report back to the ambassador and then back to the guard and you gain rank 3 and 3,000 Gil.

Federation of Windurst

If Federation of Windurst is first, then you need to take a shield offering to Uu Zhoumo, the Yagudo NPC guarding the treasure room in the lowest part of Giddeus, then you have to fight Zhuu Buxu the Silent and retrieve 2 Parana Shields and trade them to the San d'Orian consulate. They tell you to go to Bastok next where you will get tossed around to different people until you are told to go into the mines. Go with a party to the 3rd floor and head towards the burnt spot on the map, and you will zone into the next part where you will find the burning circle. Then kill the Black Dragon and see the cutscene, head back to the San d'Orian consul in Federation of Windurst, they will complete you for their part and you just need to head on home to complete the mission.

Note that this mission is given in all three kingdoms, so you can group with anyone and still complete it.

Update Notes

As of February 14th, 2011, there is no longer a level cap restriction on the mission battlefield.

# Dec 15 2003 at 7:41 AM Rating: Default
You get the shields from a named yagudo opposite of the treasure room heading out. Kill him he drops one everytime. be patient let him respawn and kill him agian. take the shields back to the San d orian consulate and trade to the man behind the desk in the next room from the main. Then your done and off to Bastok if you did windurst first.
Tsuruhashi?
# Dec 12 2003 at 11:37 AM Rating: Default
Can someone please tell me what a Tsuruhashi is? I haven't seen this in the AH, nor have I been able to get it from Grohm like the quest says.

I furthermore am unable to get to meet the president like the quest says.

My log just says that I have to go to Palborough to get Mythril Sands...but I have never received the other part of the quest to get it...and I don't know where I can buy a couple more of these.

Anyone?

Windurst first

Why is no one giving info on what to do if u did went to windurst first? GIve info on what happens after u give the sheilds.. where u get the burning circle key... and such please
RE: Windurst first
# Dec 09 2003 at 12:41 PM Rating: Default
If you go to Windurst first (which it seems not many people choose to do, unfortunately for me) you do the shield quest first in Windurst, and afterwards you travel to bastok where you must fight the dragon. The dragon is in palborough mines on the third floor, at H-10. When you get to the third floor, if you have the map, you will see the big black burn on it, that's where you have to go, but take the left path because the other one leads to a dead end with rocks. If anybody out there wants to team up to do this, I am on Diabolos, name is Zoyano.

I've put 8 pieces in the machine that is supposed to refine it into mythril until now, and each time, when I pull the lever, I get "nothing happens".

now, I've been told that this can happen *sometimes*, but should I start thinking that there is a problem here ?

okay, nevermind, I'm stupid ;) I hadn't noticed that there was not only a lever at the bottom of the machine, but also one at the top. so people, don't forget the top lever.
question
# Dec 07 2003 at 10:09 PM Rating: Default
I went to windy first and did that part of the mission. when i talk to Grohm he doesnt give me a tsuruhashi. he just talks about a mysterious circle that people walk into and never return from. Do i not have to do the mining part of the mission?
Where is Halver??

RE: Where is Halver??
# Dec 07 2003 at 2:52 PM Rating: Default
Yeah, he's the first NPC dead in front of you inside the Chateau D'Or. If you zone in to South San Doria to North San D'oria, just keep waling stratight past the fountain, and over the bridge. As long as you've done a Squires Test II you should be able to get in there.
Uu Zhoumo

If you go to Windurst first you get the sheild and go to Giddeus, you gotta give the shield to Uu Zhoumo who according to the Brady Games strategy guide is in F-7, i went there, and there is no NPC by that name. Where can i find Uu Zhoumo?

Quest still not working
# Dec 06 2003 at 9:05 AM Rating: Default
Hey,
I'm at the very beginning of the quest. I started in Bastok, and got the quest from the Ambassador of San D'Oria, where I'm from. The next step of the quest says I'm supposed to go and talk to the president. But none of the guards, nor "Iron Eater" the guy who's guarding the President's door will allow me to pass. That furthermore doesn't allow me to get anything more from Grohm in the eatery.

Can I still move forward with the Palsborough mines even through I don't have any part of the quest except for the inital part from my San D'Orian ambassador?

something of note for this:
you do not need to be lvl 18 to complete this quest. it might be recommended though. you also dont need to be lvl 20 to do davoi report. i did davoi at 6, and walked to windurst at 7. to kill the dragon though, you might want to be around 18-25- not necessary though.

Shield?

I cant seem to find Zhuu Baxu the Silent, I heard he was in the basement, in the treasure room, of Giddeus. But I cant find him :( Can anyone be a little more specific please?
RE: Shield?
# Dec 05 2003 at 1:40 PM Rating: Default
to find zuu buxu do this:
when you enter giddeus keep making lefts when the road splits. eventually you will come to the cave that leads to the treasure room. if you know where this is it might make more sense.
anyhow, walking away from the treasure room, stay straight. do not turn right into where eyemon spawns. the next hall leads to a more open area that has pipers, persecutors, and some worms. you should be able to pick this room out as it has an oval shape, and it is just before the hill that leads back up. zuu is a timed spawn it seems, like ten minutes every time. so be prepared to wait a bit. also be careful around the worms in the hall as they link, and if youre below lvl 16 or 17 they and buxu will be very tough.

SO confused
# Nov 30 2003 at 6:43 AM Rating: Default
I am really REALLY confused here...I went to Windurst first and completed my part there...what is it I have to do in the palsborough mines? ONLY fight the dragon or do I have to use a pick axe?

I have now some kind of dust after mining 2 mythril ore or whatever they were called, used them on the machine and now I am back in Bastok where absoultely no one wants those crappy dustitems...

on top of that I was told I need a key to enter the flaming circle...help of for the love of god help!!! used 4k on this fu**ing mission already!!!
RE: SO confused
# Nov 30 2003 at 2:11 PM Rating: Default
If you went to Windurst first and did the part with the shields, you do not need to do any mining for the Bastok part. Just talk to the NPCs, get a map, and head to the burnt out section on the top floor. You don't need any kind of key to complete this mission, although you do need an item to enter the burning circle for other purposes when you are much higher level.
road to windurst

im not too sure how you get to windurst from san'doria, can anyone help me?
RE: road to windurst
# Dec 05 2003 at 1:55 PM Rating: Default
easiest way to get to windurst from san doria is to take the boat, especially if you are below lvl 20.
head south through west ronfaure to la theine. from there go south to valkurm dunes. next go to selbina. take the boat ride to mhaura for 100g. exit mhaura and go northwest. i believe this map is called buburimu peninsula. anyhow, go nw and you should find tahrongi canyon. from tahrongi youll need to go south, through a long and winding path. youll end up in east sarutabaruta. once here just go straight south and you should see an entrance to windurst. there is no real marking for it on the map but youll see little indentations of the canyon wall on the map.
this may seem like a lot of maps to run through but it is easier at low lvls.
if you are above 20, once you get to la theine go east. youll be at jugner forest. from here youll go to the northeast exit. keep heading ne to find it. its east of the lake. i think the next map is called battalia downs. and you have to go southeast here. its a little tricky because there are two exits. one leads to rolanberry field i think, and the other to jueno. if you go to rolanberry there is also an entrance for jueno, but either way that is your goal.
once at jueno exit to sauromauge champagne. go south through this map to the next one. dont remember its name. youll know youre on the right map if theres a large spine-like structure floating in the sky. anyhow, keep going south and you should end up in tahrongi. follow the directions above and you should make it.
even if you dont have all the maps, you can look at your region map to figure it out. i did it with one other person at lvl 7 so its not impossible. just dangerous. good luck.

Windurst Dragon Fight
# Nov 28 2003 at 3:32 PM Rating: Default
The people in the party have to be up to the same point as you. If not, it won't let them into the boss fight. The Dragon hits for 40'ish, has a Poison AE, and one of it's specials hits for 100+

There's also a mob which is a caster who hits for 30'ish. Me 25war/11mnk and a 25mnk/12war Duoed this mission with the aid of 2 high potions each (around 1350g on Cerebus server)

I've gotten the mission and plan on going to bastok, then to windhurst to fight that dragon. Is it true that you can only fight with people on the same mission from the same start, or can you fight with people from bastok who did san d'oria first?

If you need a full party that is on the same mission, is there anyone that is doing this that needs to group? If so lets set up a party.

Doing the first part in the mines can be a hassle. Start off by buying a map of it in Bastok Market, at the vender at H-9. Make sure you have some mining picks, would suggest 8 or so as you will break them and not always get the ore you need. When you get to the lid and change your ore you have to Jump off from up top to get down to new product. Again I cant stress enough how helpful the map will be, make sure you get it.
