Description

Sigismund is on the roof of the Orastery. He needs you to fetch him an item. Head to East Sarutabaruta and kill the pugil type mobs until you get a handful of Pugil Scales or buy it from the Auction House. Take that to West Sarutabaruta and trade it to a tree on Starfall Hill at I-6 between the hours of 0:00 and 3:00. This gets you the Starfall Tear you need. Bring it back for your reward.

Hey,
I've a question about this quest. I've already talked to Sigismund and I have the quest in my current list, but when I want to trade this purgil scales between 0:00 and 3:00 I can't trade anything because there is noone to trade. But I can't chose the tree. Can anyone help me?

I like photos:

Sigismund; the NPC starter. Remember he's in Port Windurst on top of Orastery's roof.

After talking to him walk down the steps off of Orastery's roof and head outside. Look at your map for a picture of a tree. Map

Twinkle Tree from a distance
Twinkle Tree closer
At the base of Twinkle Tree

Remeber to trade ONE pugil scale late, late at night when the sparklies are flyin everywhere; from 0:00 - 3:00.
selling the tear
# Oct 25 2004 at 11:50 PM Rating: Decent
I have done this several times so I know 100% that you can get another tear after selling it or dropping it (dont know why u would). On the Cait Sith server they sell for a good 2k each, but what I want to know is why someone would buy more than one. I've seen the same name buy multiple Starfall Tears from the auction house. Now that I think about it I could have just asked him/her, lol. Anyways, YES YOU CAN SELL THE TEAR AND GET ANOTHER ONE LATER, JUST TRADE THE PUGIL SCALES BETWEEN 0:00 AND 3:00, DOESN'T MATTER WHAT DAY IT IS.
Starfall Tear

I completed this quest with my main player and it is not repeatable once you give the tear to him - before that - I turned in the tear 7 times to the AH for 500 gil
do not complete this quest and it is repeatable

From what I can tell, you must have accepted the quest before handing the scales to the tree.

I attempted to trade them the other night before I had accepted the quest and I could not get the trade window to come up.

Question
# Apr 05 2004 at 2:05 AM Rating: Decent
I have finished it and gottn the shield, but can you get additional pugil scales and trade them to the tree to get additional starfall tears? I will test this if I come across more pugil scales.
Just some notes
# Feb 10 2004 at 3:05 AM Rating: Good
Just a few notes, You must trade the scales between 0000 and 0300 (as stated before) and you do it by facing the tree (easiest in First Person) and selecting trade from the main menu.

Take the starfall tear back to sigis and you'll get the shield. On Lakshmi in Windhurst the shield was going for about 500 at the auction house.

This quest is not repeatable, it seems that once you turn the Starfall Tear in you can't get more from the tree.

I've seen these for sale at 2000 Gil each at the auction house, but I couldn't trade additional pugil scales for more tears once I completed the quest. It may be that selling the one you get from the tree the first time around means that you will be incapable of finishing the quest.

Twinkle tree

Just finishing the quest, a couple of other comments I wanted to add.

When looking for the tree, you know you've targeted it when it says "twinkle tree". And after midnight, little green glowies slowly fall from the tree - i think those are the dew drops?

I don't believe the quest is repeatable. After getting my fish shield, I thought I'd ask again and it seemed like he started talking about something else (so I left).

Pugil Scales?
# Nov 16 2003 at 5:10 PM Rating: Decent
You need Pugil Scales to get the item? No wonder I couldn't figure this one out.......
RE: Pugil Scales?
# Jan 11 2004 at 10:02 AM Rating: Decent
if you'd talked to the guy standing next to the npc that gives you the quest he'd have told you quite blatantly 'you need a handful of pugil scales to pick it up' :P
Simple directions to the tree
# Nov 10 2003 at 12:00 PM Rating: Decent
If you head to the Outpost and then head behind the outpost to the tree you will be in front of the tree. I noticed targeting the tree by using the function key (F8) will only work if you're in front of the tree.

From 0000-0300 is the only time the quest will activate.

Its that obvious tree thing on the map, that says "starfall hill." ;)

Once there, start tabbing to target. You get "a tree" or something on target. You'll see the target arrow on something by the big tree. Then you wait until midnight or after and trade it the scale.

This hill is rather large and obvious, you'll know the spot as you go up the hill.

Don't forget to talk to Sigismond about the quest first. It's in Western Sarutabaruta. Look at your map, it's the big tree icon on the Starfall Hillock. If you somehow can't see that on the map it's I6. At midnight (0:00) you'll get a message about dew. Trade the pugil skills and you'll get the Star Tear thing. Trade that back to Sigismond and you'll get your shield.

This was the first quest I did and I was very impressed.
Pugils??

Where can I find Pugil's in East Saru? I've never seen even one of these things, can anyone give a general location of where they hang out?

Could have done it even lower. Some of the pugils were "easy." The one I got it from was "easy", soloed (white mage I am)

Then I noticed the shield can't be used by me until 14.. HA HA! I stuck in mog house bank ;)

Make sure you don't confuse the Orastery with the Aurastery. Took me quite a long time to figure that out when trying to get my reward for the first Mission. The guy you are looking for is on the roof of the Orastery in the Port area.

RE: railforte
# Dec 11 2003 at 6:46 PM Rating: Decent
Some quests, like this is not repeatable. Reading everyone else's earlier posts does tell you this. I have seen this item on sale for 2K on the AH. I'm not sure if you can ever get any more after the quest completed. I tried once, but it could have been at the wrong time. I think that I overheard it must also be done during a full moon, which I think is ridiculious, but once again...I'm not quite sure. I'll check this out and post my conclusions on this again.

I was able to get the scales *before* I had activated the quest(a Pugil dropped them), so I can only assume that they are available afterwards to....
