Mission Orders

There are reports that the Cat Burglar has her paws on a "Book of the Gods," a restricted book that was lost twenty years ago. Assist the Opistery in investigating the reports, and attempt to retrieve the priceless, but dangerous, tome.

Walkthrough

First talk to Tosuka-Porika in the Optistery at (G-8) in Windurst Waters to begin this quest. Outside the Optistery and down some stairs is Tonana, who will warp you to Windurst Woods. Talk to Nanaa Mihgo and she will give you the key item: Lapis Monocle. It is highly recommended that you have the Map of the Maze of Shakhrami before doing this mission. It can be purchased from Mhoji Roccoruh or Pehki Machumaht. Unless your group intends to fight their way to the spot, you should bring a method of Sneak and Invisible for yourself.

Head to the Maze of Shakhrami, which can be found at the very Northeast corner of Tahrongi Canyon (K-5). Once inside, go down the tunnel until you reach a large room. This first room has bones, worms, and goblins. The worms are not aggressive. Take the tunnel to the left. You will reach another large room. This room has worms, goblins, and scorpions. The goblins and scorpions are aggressive.

Follow the left wall until you come to two tunnels and take the one on the right (G-6). You will reach a small opening, again stay to the left. The next room you reach is the room you seek (H-5). There are several Fossil Rocks in this room. Examine each one until you acquire the key item: Lapis Coral. You will need to drop Invisible in order to examine the Fossil Rock and obtain the key item.

Head back to Nanaa Mihgo in Windurst Woods (J-3). She will give you the key item: Hideout Key and direct you to the Inner Horutoto Ruins. It is highly recommended that you have Map of Horutoto Ruins for this area before proceeding. It is obtained by completing the quest Glyph Hanger.

Enter the Inner Horutoto Ruins through the Lily Tower at (J-7) in East Sarutabaruta. Once inside, go through the Cracked Wall at (G-8). You go to a new map at this point. Go through the Mahogany Door (G-7). NOTE: the Mahogany Door is not actually at these coordinates. In fact, it is not on the map at all. But at these coordinates you will find the hallway that leads to the Mahogany Door.

After the cutscene, head to the "House of the Hero" in Windurst Walls (G-3). After the cutscene, go back to Tosuka-Porika to finish the mission.

Rank?

I've finished the mission and I'm on mission 6 now (as a result of trading some crystals) but I'm still rank 2... is that right?
RE: Rank?
# Nov 10 2003 at 12:22 PM Rating: Good
You will notice that the reward for mission 6 is Rank 3, so you are right on track.

At level 18 the goblins in the maze will be very easy up to an even match. Regardless, you should not go solo... unless you are confident and patient enough to sneak past and hope nothing attacks you. You will have to dodge/avoid up to 4 scorpions that rank incredibly tough at lvl 18.

for the second part...
If (J-7) is the correct tower and (G-8) is the correct crack in the wall, then

(G-7) is NOT the correct coordinates for the Mahogany door. Could someone please clue me in, cause i cant find it.

I soloed the Maze part of this mission as a level 19 Monk. All the goblins were decent challange or lower. You can avoid the scorpions and maze makers, ignore the bats and the crawlers. It just takes a bit of patience. Also, I don't recommend doing this unless you are properly equipped, including food and potions (Iused the Meat Mithkabob). I was jumped by three goblins at once and managed to beat them down but took over 300 damage.

I found it... (G-7) is the closest coordinates on the map. The actual door is (G-8) but it is not on the map, the tunnel curves around. psy nsi

"very Northwest corner of Tahrongi Canyon (K-5)." The maze is northeast, k-5...you dont need that onion quest. the fossils look like rocks, and the one you want should be between 2 pits like it says.
Wow...those are high #s

I only donated 8 earth crystals o.O...I got the misson that way XD ^_^0 and Im barely even at 1/5th of the mission ranking thing...so it was like 2.2 at the highest =p

u need to do the onion quest before u do the mission so u get info about the cat burglar. U dont need crystals to start this mission.
RE: no crystals need it
# Nov 07 2003 at 1:03 PM Rating: Default
yes you do need crystals to get this mission... what you dont need is to do the onion brigade quest first :D
RE: no crystals need it
# Nov 10 2003 at 10:16 PM Rating: Default
You guys are making this a lot harder than it needs to be. You can either donate crystals or complete the first 3 missions to get to rank 2. It is possible to do all of these mission without donating crystals. When you are told to go participate in the conquest, just rezone and talk to the guard again. You will get the next mission.

i know that the worms DO NOT agro. not sure about the bats.. but the scorpions and goblins defintely DO agro. i got lucky and did this mission at level 9. there was a high level thief soloing all the mobs in the fossil room; the rest i managed to sneak past.
RE: The Maze
# Nov 07 2003 at 11:22 AM Rating: Default
maybe a group of lvl 15s and 16s would be better... the fossils look like piles of rocks. they didnt post the link to the map quest so here it is: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=Windurst&fquest=111 its called "Glyph Hanger" in case the link doesnt work.
rank points vs conquest points
# Nov 05 2003 at 2:02 PM Rating: Default
It Isn't conquest points you need.

Its rank points. They are two entirely different things. Donating crystals gives you rank points, you have to be about rank 2.25 to get the quest.
RE: rank points vs conquest points
# Nov 26 2003 at 10:32 AM Rating: Default
Yes, they are two different things, but if you max out your rank points by turning in crystals the guard gives you conquest points instead (I thought you could get rank 3 by turning in alot of crystals... not true... you must do the missions).
finding hideout
# Nov 04 2003 at 11:30 PM Rating: Default
I've done everything up to finding the hideout... I went to the ruins from the first mission, but it just says the door is firmly shut, and I've gone to the ruins of the second mission but it says the same thing. I have the hideout key, but which ruins do I have to go to?

RE: finding hideout

The white tower at J-7 in East Sarutabaruta.

Go in and down to the Mahogany Doors. With key.

First time you go there should be for the "Making Headlines" Quest.

Next is for the Mission "Lost For Words".

crystals not conquest points
# Nov 04 2003 at 11:52 AM Rating: Default
i turned in 12 crystals, and it let me start the mission and i only have 480ish conquest points, so i think you just have to turn in the crystals in order to be able to start the mission
.....
# Nov 04 2003 at 1:29 AM Rating: Decent
Even at Level 11, EVERYTHING in that cave is "incredibly tough." I was with a group and we were butchered by Goblins.
Mission 4
# Nov 03 2003 at 3:29 PM Rating: Default
I've got 1034 Conquest Points and I still cannot do the mission. So it's a abit higher. Just so you know.
RE: Mission 4
# Dec 08 2003 at 6:29 PM Rating: Default
Conquest points are NOT used for missions. Only RANK point matter. You need like Rank 2.2 in order to get Mission 4. When you complete Mission 3, you are at Rank 2.0. This is not enough to get Mission 4. So you donate crystal (8-10) to the War Warlock and you should be at around 2.2 rank. Then you can get the mission.

Please stop saying "but my conquest points are 1xxx" cause it starting to get annoying...
minor addition
# Nov 03 2003 at 5:37 AM Rating: Decent
The last sentace of the mission guide reads

"Head back to Nanaa Mingh with what you found out."

I suggest changing it to read:

Head back to House of Hero's then Nanaa Mingh with what you found out.

----

Also to get this quest I donated 48 crystals that a friend gave me. (trade to the gurard that talks about Conquest.) that got me enough conquest
points to take on this mission.
That will save some amiless wandering.

No!
# Nov 02 2003 at 6:41 PM Rating: Good
You need to donate crystal to the guy that casts Signet to gain a higher rank. You need 2.25 to get this mission I thik about 12-20 crystal should do.

P.S. I donated 24.

There may be a conquest points minimum for this mission. I currently have 547 Conquest points. When I completed the previous mission, Janshura-Rashura said, "Before we can assign you any more missions, you'll have to collect rank points by participating in Windurst's conquest effort."

There's a difference between Rank Points and Conquest Points.
RE: conquest point requirement
# Nov 11 2003 at 2:40 PM Rating: Default
No crystals are needed. Just do the missions in order. Then when the guard tells you to participate in the conquest just rezone and talk to him again and you get the new mission.
RE: conquest point requirement
# Nov 12 2003 at 1:01 AM Rating: Good
Negative. I've rezone about 5 times. I can rezone a million times and your advice wouldn't work.
RE: conquest point requirement
# Nov 13 2003 at 9:24 PM Rating: Default
I have done the first 4 missions without donating a single crystal and without any hangups. I don't understand what is so hard.
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 13 2003 at 9:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Then you are an idiot. Its just not that hard.
