Mission Orders

Walkthrough

Hand in 12-18 crystals or so from empty rank to receive mission, I turned in 18 and got it no problem. ( I did this mission as a red and used sneak/invis and bought a scroll of warp to return. If you don't have invis/sneak you might want to buy some oils and powders )

After getting it go to the star sybil tree in windurst walls. Go and talk to Kupipi the taru clerical assistant you talked to for the dragon mission. She will give you a key item that lets you go upstairs.

Enter the second level via the doors near Kupipi and go all the way up to the very top level, you don't need to talk to any of the taru on the second level.

At the top talk to the guard named Rhy Epocan, this will trigger a cut scene with Semih Lhafihna and Ajido-Marujido. She will tell you to follow him.

Use the transporter ( blue light near where you talk to the guard ) to get back to the first level so you can exit.

Now go to the Orastry in Port Windurst and talk to Hakkurur-Rinkuru. He will tell you that the minister has gone to Castle Oztroja.

Since you are in windurst port, stop by the star onion kids and get the 4th mission from them, it will be about the cat burglar and a ghost etc, and they want a key from the minister. Nothing will show up in quest log yet, but don't worry as long as they tell you about the ghost and the need for the item from the minister you are ok.

The next step is to Choco to Castle Oztroja which is located in L-8 of the Meriphataud Mountauns. ( Map of the castle can be bought in windurst woods from the map vendor there for 3000 gil )

Inside the castle, head to the door at J-8 and use the lever there to open a trap door. (You must be standing between the two levers to open the trap door)I used invis/sneak to get to the location, though at level 30 most were easy prey. Letting a yag turn his back to me I cancled invis and hit the lever. This triggers a cut scene with you and the minister down in a lower level.

When the scene is over check the floor, you will see a circle that is targetable on the floor, click it and you receive the old ring key item for the Star Onion quest.

At this point I used a warp scroll to head back to town so I can't help you on getting out from there.

Once in town go back to Heavens Tower in Windurst Walls and talk to Rhy Epocan again to trigger the final cut scene and finish the mission.

Crystals
# Aug 20 2007 at 7:00 AM Rating: Decent
I only had to hand in 4 crystals to get this mission. 2 Fire, 1 Lightning, & 1 Earth. (Dunno if type matters...)

I only needed to turn in 7 crystals, I might've even been able to go with less.

I've tried this damned quest twice already as RDm33/BLM16 casting snk/inv the whole way. Everytime they start to where, I'm always surrounded by a kazillion yags. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, cause I'm not finding this quest very easy at all! I guess I'm not at the right door or something. The one time I was able to click on the lever (making sure I was standing between what I thought was the 2 levers, anyways), it said "This door is locked tight" >.< >.< Is the location of door at I-8 or J-8? O.o I'm seeing conflicting opinions on this. I'm gonna try this again tonight after the update. >.< Hopefully I won't die a 3rd time on this.....

Sorry you had such bad luck with it.

The door for this mission is at (I-8). In order to activate the door, you need to be standing in the middle of the platform and halfway between both levers. Once you hit that, you will drop into the basement and straight into a cutscene.

Just for extra info... the door at (H-8), which is opened by messing with the torches on either side, actually guards a plaque that will tell you the password for the game day. You will eventually need that password (and two more you'll find in Castle O in a similar fashion) to access an area to break one of the later level cap quests.^^

You do not need sneak to complete this mission.
You can also recast Invisible while it is beginning to wear off
in the middle of a gaggle of Yagudo or any other sight aggro mob for that matter.
They will not aggro you.
sorry

Be careful who hits the lever
# Apr 04 2006 at 9:03 AM Rating: Decent
Just a quick note in case you're helping someone on this mission: The person with the mission flagged needs to be the one to hit the lever to fall through the trapdoor.

I watched a lvl 60 PLD walk a RDM friend through this mission, and after both of them simultaneously fell through the trapdoor, the RDM did not get the expected cutscene. After going back to Windurst and spending an hour retracing every step of the mission, I finally inquired and discovered that the lvl 60 PLD had hit the lever to drop the RDM through. We went back, let the RDM hit it, and the cutscene triggered perfectly.

This mission was the easiest once I knew what to do.

First I had two guides with me, nothing was going right. I didn't talk to everybody I was supposed to and had to go there, come back, go there come back, etc. It was a big time waster. The next day, I spoke to everybody I was supposed to, and thought I would be Yagudo meat in Castle Oztroja by myself (30war), but it was surprisingly a piece of cake. Got 1 prism power, chocoboed over, walked in and didn't even use the map. Pulled the lever, fell through, got the cutscene, found the ring, and warped out.

The only thing you have to know in this mission is what to do, and you'll be fine. A lvl 1 could do this.
Star Onion Kids Correction
# Nov 11 2005 at 8:21 PM Rating: Decent
Actually to correct this the Star Onion Kids are behind the warehouses in Port Windy. They are in the same area as the three shops, the armor, magical and weapon shops, if you are coming from near the fishing guild you will see a path on the left, take that and there should be two big buildings, go behind these. If you are coming from near the residential area or Windy Woods the path will be on the right. [pre][/pre]
Ridiculously Easy

Reading "Castle Oztroja" I was not looking forward to this mission.. so I stocked up on a few Yag Drinks/Pamama Au Laits, two Hi-Potions, and got my four suits of armor (one guess on what class I am <.< >.>) ready.

Walked in, cast Protect/Shell/Blink.. rested.. cast Blaze Spikes/Enblizzard/Sneak/Invis.. ran, took a left.. took a right.. ran straight through the cavern, took a right then a left.. saw the levers.. Yags are like 50+ feet a way.. I drop invis, stand between and pull the lever. Boom.. cutscene, snag the ring Instant Warp Scroll .. ...

... all that prep for nothing =.=

Alright,

I have the Mission from the gate guard

Went to the Tree, saw the cut scene with Aijo, went to the Castle, got the floor to drop, but I didn't get the cut scene.

Fell into the next hole down, got the crap kicked out of me by a bat.

Did something not work right?

I believe if you don't complete this step, you won't get the cutscene in Castle Oztroja.

I was escorting on this mission and noticed that the event will not trigger if the person who is doing the mission does not open the trap door - escorts should just clear the yags and leave the mission-goers to open the trap door. I hope this little bit of info helps (and I'm glad I had escape to save time ^^; )

easily. just keep invis up the whole way to the door (it's in the corridor you see going off the right edge of the first map you see when you enter Castle Oztroja).

Make sure they aren't watching you when you drop invis. If you click the 'correct' lever the door will open. In this case you want to pick the incorrect one so the trapdoor opens.

Make sure they aren't watching you as you do this though... when I did this mission invis dropped unexpectedly near the door. So 4 or 5 were following me as I fell down the trapdoor. When I fell down, the cutscene started - when the cutscene ended those yags finished me off.

No biggie except I wasn't able to grab the ring for the Star Onion quest - so I had to come back for that later.
I Wonder....

30 blm?
# Oct 23 2004 at 8:41 AM Rating: Decent
I just finished 2.3 last night (i wish i hadnt made a typo in my seal/sleep macro ><), and I have enough rank points to get this quest. I'm wondering if a 30 blm can complete the quest without too much trouble (i might be able to get another with me :P)
Solution for those that can't get the cutscene.

Here's a diagnostic to what might be wrong if you didn't get the cutscene:

1. Did you talk to Kupipi (so you can go to the top of the star tower) Rhy Epocan(top of Star Tower) and Hakkurur-Rinkuru and the guy next to him? (May be a little excessive, but better safe than sorry) If those two in the orastery said something about Castle Oztroja, you're good to go. Pick up the Onion Rings quest if you can.

2. Did YOU and only YOU pull that lever? That was my mistake; my guide pulled it the first time and no cutscene. When we came back and I pulled the lever, I got the cutscene!

Easier than I thought
# Sep 15 2004 at 11:18 AM Rating: Decent
So I built this up wayyy more than I should've. Should I go in as a 26 WHM with Sneak/Invis and run out, or should I go as 30 BLM and blast away EPs and DCs so I can Warp out later? Worried about getting aggro going out was worse than going in. I chose my 30 BLM and took the power/oil route. I hope 800 each was a good buy (Seraph).

I checked everything I came across. Bats were worthless and Yags were EP. I dusted my shoulders off with Prism Powder and just ran past everything. Only about two minutes running is needed. The switch isn't far and it's on the same level as when you enter. Got to the switch, waited for the Votary to turn his back, and that's it. Done and done. <Good luck!>
Easier than I though

Getting Out
# Aug 14 2004 at 2:32 AM Rating: Decent
You can't open the lid to leave if you're invisible, but if you try casting invisible after dropping through, you might get aggroed. On top of that, the time to cast is longer than the amount of time it stays open. For a mage, the best way around this is to begin casting invisible, then click the lid halfway through the spell.
No Cut-Scene?
# Aug 05 2004 at 5:58 PM Rating: Decent
I talked to everyone, the gate guard, got mission, the guys in the building(forgot name) in Port Windy and so I headed to the castle via choco with my 36 RDM/BLM.

I found the levers with easy and hit it, falling down to the room with the circle platform on the floor. But no Ajiro(whatever his name) Taru! No cut-scene! Can someone tell me what I did wrong???

Edited, Thu Aug 5 18:58:57 2004
Cannot reach the lever
# Jul 31 2004 at 5:20 PM Rating: Decent
Just be sure to stand BETWEEN the two levers to successfully pull. I learned this the hard way. Otherwise, it will tell you that you cannot reach the lever.

Just a detail that was explained but I missed.

Easy with summer event
# Jul 24 2004 at 7:32 PM Rating: Decent
I just finished this mission when I got dropped in the castle with the current moogle quests from the summer event.
You get dropped invisible and sneaked in a (random) place. When i joined with a elvaan i got dropped in the castle and after doing the goalpoint part i headed to the handles and was able to finish it pretty easy.
So try it now before the event ends
