Summary

Bring back a rare ore from the Gusgen Mines on the Konschtat Highlands. First ask Davyad, an adventurer residing in the Mines District, how he acquired his load of the ore.

Walkthrough

After starting the mission head to Bastok Mines (K-6) and speak to Davyad. After a pleasant conversation you are told to find a rare rock that will help in the war effort (Glocolite. You will need some hare meat for this mission.

After obtaining the hare meat head to Gusgen Mines in Konschtat Highlands (L-7). Unless you did the "A Foreman's Best Friend" quest you will have no map. Anyway, head into the tunnel and on the First area where the tunnel splits, take the Right Path, then Left Path, then Right Path, and finally another Right Path. In the last area (J-7) you should see a small pool with ???.

Use the "Trade" command on the ???. Once you place the hare meat an NM Fish called Blind Moby will attack you. When the NM is defeated he will drop a Rare Rock Item (Glocolite. You can do this over and over for the rest of your party (the respawn times have been changed for this monster so you should be able to do it quickly -- around 5-10 mins respawn)

Trade the item to either of the mission guards to finish this quest.

My Experience

I have avoided this mission for awhile since it is difficult to find anyone willing to make the trip and since so one seemed to know how hard Blind Moby really is. But since I am coming up on Rank 5 I decided I better go back and do this one.

I used a 30RDM/5THF and had a 22 BLM/11 WHM (Thanks Yoyobo) along with me. The hardest part was clearing the room, which had a Ghoul, a bandersnatch, and 3 ore eaters. Didn't know the re-spawn times, and night was approaching, so we rushed through it.

I put down 2 slices of Hare Meat (it only takes ONE btw) and Blind Moby appeared. I hit him with Thunder for about 100 damage and his health bar went down considerably; Probably about 1/8 of the way. Therefore I would estimate his HP to be around 800 points. We hit him with a few more Thunders and Fires and he was done in probably less than a minute. We did not even need to heal. Very anti-climatic.

Anyway, I hope this helps give a better view of what kind of "Monster" he is.

Red spawns in mines

Hi, i did this mission solo as 31 monk. Blind moby was very easy to beat and after that i tried to take my drk sword to dip by the water and it wouldn't take it. i didn't kill any 100 mobs after drk quest maybe that is why it didn't work for me. Anyway on the opposite side of the mines is another pond that got my attention. It seems as if something keeps spawning in there, from what i could make out its some sort of red undead people there were multiple ones and scared the sh*t out of me so i got the hell out. One more thing i'm not so sure about is the title you get after completing the mission. i think it is "Decurion". I have searched for such a title and can't find anything. I know this because i keep checking my title from time to time and last thing i remember doing was that mission so there. anyway anyone seen those creatures? if so what is the prupose of them? is this for another quest perhaps?. Good luck to all. One last thing as 31 monk/15 whm i still got agroed on by ghouls and vandersnatches, so be carefull

you get the Decurion title when you exchange conquest points for any of the decurions items in bastok.

A level 30 should be able to solo it. The hard part is clearing out the mobs in the room. I would suggest atleast 2 people to do this one, since the mobs in the room link.
C'mon guys

How hard is Blind Moby? Yeah, I know the thing is skippable but I still want to complete the mission.
?
# Dec 23 2003 at 6:38 PM Rating: Default
can you still skip the mission after you've accepted it?
RE: ?
# Mar 04 2004 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
You can't skip it after you've accepted it. The Gate Guard will say something like "You can only work on one mission at a time".

The NPC is inside Bastok Mines at I-6 inside a stairwell.

I suggest doing this mission during the daytime beacuse at night a NM ghost appears right where you fight Blind Moby.

Zeid is the one of the characters involved in the Dark Knight Flag Quest. Not sure what he's doing in this mission, but since I have yet to do this mission, I can't say. I'll probably do it in the next couple of days (both this mission and the DRK quest), so hopefully I'll be able to give some more info.
