Well, it might be awhile since your post, but im a lvl 30 war/thf, on siren. My player name is BKbuster, give me a tell if you're still looking to do this.
I did this mission at level 30 red. I had a friend excort me Level 56 Dragoon. All I had to do was cast sneak and invisable on myself and he did all the work. Took less than one hour.
Group of 7 LS members, 41-32, totally walked thru this in 90 minutes. The longest time we spent in one place was waiting for the NM to spawn, and it died quicker than the torturers or the spirekeepers did.
On the Ragnarok server, there's two farmer bots up on the upper tower that sit and kill the NM that guards the door too, so even less of a problem.
The hole seemed quite obvious that it was there, pulling mobs in Garliage is more difficult than avoiding the hole.
Oh, one thing our WHM discovered about the Magic Pots. If you cast sneak it will aggro to the magic but will lose aggro once the sneak spell takes effect.
Haven't actually done the mission for myself yet, but yesterday helped a bunch of other people get it, we had an alliance of 16 people between levels 29-52 (me being a level 40 SAM) and totally kicked the crap out of Delkfutt's Tower. We killed pretty much everything in sight and beat Phyporion twice averaging about 30 seconds per fight (we'd just go and kill the other giants around for TP then just all go and use ws on him). The only thing that you really have to watch out for if you ever have this setup is the hole at about the 6-7 level (can't remember which), we had about 4 people fall down it accidently.
Definitely not a level restriction on it. I got it at 21, and was able to do it with an alliance of two full ls parties. Your fame meter must be around 2/3 of the way to 4 before you'll get the Mission.
Well - I have had real trouble getting a party for this mission - one of the problems of playing from Europe I guess.
Anyway - I decided to try and solo it now I have reached the "heady hieghts" of lvl 46. I attracted no aggro until I hit level 9 and then conned my first easy prey.
On level 10 all the prey conned as easy but we all know that that does not mean anything once you get over level 40.
The problem is that Mimas - an nm - guards a door before Prophyrion which you must be visible to open. That there were three other gigas in the chambre with him and another three within sentry route of him meant I chickened out of trying to kill him off. There was no feasible way to pull any of the three gigas or Mimas without getting a link - I backed off.
That the 10th level fills with thunder elementals during thunder storms as well only adds insult to injury (I counted 3 during my recce of the immediate area around Mimas).
So - if you are considering soloing this mission - level 46 is still too low.
I suppose its back to trying to get a party together. ^-^
Everyone died at least once, but lady luck was surley smiling upon us that day, there was one point where all except myself and the other Galka were dead and we had to duke it out with a pesky little Thunder Elemental, not to mention we had just run away from a horde of angry giants, luckily a high level WHM and MNK were hanging around to save our hides.
Besides the dieing part this mission was very challenging and fun, and if your lower than lv. 40 I suggest you form at least an 8 member alliance, just to be on the safe side.
For Windurstians, the gate guard offers this mission as "A New Journey". It is still listed in my Missions as "A New Journey" after speaking to Star Sibyl.
i actually was in jueno and just /sh for help on the quest, i met up with a very nice 43 drk and got my ls and some of my friends, im a 36 monk and with the party, 50 whm, 41 whm, 31 war, 30 thf, and a 34 blm. It was more than needed because at 36 they all con in at ez. The top level is the hardest, lucky for me i meet up with a pld. Hes was around 60 and in full AF. After that it was VERY easy. It took around 3 hours, and thats when i first shouted in jueno. The NM is also easy. After that we went down finished it, on the bottom level by the door are 2 gigas, 36-37 so be carefull. If you zone in and out the door they will pop up farther away so you can wall walk to the Ambassador. If you have escape, great or a scroll of instant warp, i had to death warp out. I wouldnt suggest walking from the 10th level out.
Level 46 Drg, 34 WHM *Me*, and 38 Monk were able to complete it within an hour and a half with few issues, since the DRG did it before. Don't wanna ever do this again..
I want to do this. My ls just did it this weekend but i was out of town. If anyone wants to do it with me my name is Katerina in Siren. Just send /tell
Had a 30 whm, myself (27 rdm) a 57 rdm, and a 59 drg, one other but I couldnt ID him, he was at the top as we came up. Sneak/invisible is a MUST for low lvls, I died once because it ran out at a bad time (They were fighting another agro and I was running up from behind) Other than that, we didnt have much trouble, once we got up, the other guy killed the NM, the only thing is at the end, when you trade the key to the elevator, there are 4 doors on the right, if you dont have a map, all I really know is that the one closest from the right is the exit (the one heading downstairs), the next one to the right is bastok... we didnt have much trouble, you should definitely have a map though, especially if the high lvls don't come down with you. It took a lot of invisibles and sneaks so REMEMBER TO HAVE THEM
Eleven of us. Ranges from 25 - 35 With a level 47 guide who didn't do too much fighting, but led the way through this complicated tower.
Sneak/Invis on Eleven people was out of the question so we decided to hack through. With a small aliance that we had, it was TOO EASY. We could kill anything in the Tower that we wanted with very little effort. Didn't take too long either.
Lower Delkfutts was the most annoying. Waaaayyyy too many bats and they aggro and link quite easily.
Middle Delkfutt's was the most puzzling because if you don't take certain paths, getting back-tracked becomes very easy. This is also where the magical aggros are. Pots, dolls and elementals were all over the place, but as previously mentioned, we had no problem hackin' em' down. Nothing in the Tower conned more than Even Match to my 35.
At the top was the NM we were going to face, but we also noted another NM named "Mimas" who supposidly has WHM AF1. WE didn't fight him, but a pair of 43s took him down in 2 minutes.
Before you fight Porphyrion, clear out some other Gigas first.
The 47 THF that went along with us (mostly a group of level 28s) didn't seem to draw aggro on the way up. The only one who died during the trip was me :p when sneak wore off and a bat attacked me, then the gigas ganged up on me x.X I was dead before anyone knew what happened. I would bring a friend though, at least one..and preferably one with sneak/invis to be on the safe side.
I was disappointed to see no clear cut directions up the tower. Follow these and a 3 hour ordeal will stay a 1.5 hr mission.
1) always take the stairs up 2) if no stairs take the teleport furthest away 3) maps of the tower can be found at http://www.koolaid-ffxi.org/linkshell/space/Middle+Delkfutt+Tower
I am having an issue that some other people seem to have: I talk to Lucius to get the letter of recommendation, but he tells me he is busy: "I am sorry, but I am a little busy at the momement. Would you mind coming back later?" His secretary tells me he is busy too.
You have to accept the mission from either the gaurd to the right of the gate as you zone to S. Gust, or you can accept it from the gaurd to the left of the stairs heading into the presidents office, opposite from Naji. BTW, the mission was called 'Jeuno' when I did it, and that was yesterday... the 18th of Feb
I did accept the mission. Current mission is "jeuno" and when I talk to mission guards it tells me I cant do 2 missions. It still won't let me get the letter from lucius. I talked to the people in jeuno and they won't talk to me either. arrrgggg...
Yea I had this problem too, after gettin this mission there is also someone else you must talk to before goin to jeuno. In sandoria it was Halver in the castle which then leads you to see the king and then after you can go to jeuno and talk to lucius.
Lucius is the guy im supposed to talk to before I go to Jeuno. Its been over a month since I initiated the quest and he still won't talk to me. I also think ive talked to every NPC in Metalworks and about 80% of the NPCs in bastok. I'm so stuck it isnt funny.
My only key items are: maps, gate crystals, moghancement, DRK quest item, bird licience, tattered test sheet, port windurst scoop, adventurer's certificate, old toolbox, and kazham pass.
Again, my problem is that when I talk to Lucius, (Bastok's presiddential aid in bastok), he turns me away saying he is busy, as does his assistant.
I tried to go to the bastokan embassador in jeuno, but they dont tell me anything and the embassador's door is a "Restricted Area."
I'm to the point where I just want to contact a GM, but there is no "quest issues" option at the help desk.
I am from Bastok, trying to do this mission. I got this mission from my city's gate guard, I talked with him, and I tried to talk to Iron eater, but he won't let me see the president. So I thought okay, I went to the garden that's above Upper Jeuno, went to the bastok embassy, I talked with the galka there and no cut scene, i opened the doors to the left, and the last door is locked, so anyway I went to the tower and got the key, died. So went back to the lower part of the tower, I tried to enter the doors, there are the 3 rooms like this guide has described, one opened when I trade the key to the door, but it says "There are nothing of interest here". no cut scene no nothing, I went back to bastok and the garden and tried to speak with anything that could relate to this, no cut scene still, am I missing something here?
You have to talk to Lucious, just SW of the building the President is in, way back in Bastok Metalworks. The building is called aides' office or something to that affect.
I just soloed Porphyrion at lvl 47 I beat it with no problem it's just that I found him in room full of other gigas and when he was near dead all the other ones turned one me......I beath him with about 500/750hp I know I couldn't take out all the other gigas so I Mijin Gakure....and now I gotta walk all the way back up there....
oh by the way nothing argoed me all the way up there except when I was on the 10th floor the Gigas Torturer were "easy prey" to me
I did this mission with some friends, I was 50NIN at the time. I think the extra few levels really leave these monsters in this dust because I did most of the work. If one could split the Porphrion room group in two, one could probably pretty easily do this at level 50. The giants aren't that packed so it's probably doable.
Everything was Too Weak to me, including the Torturer.
Couple tips for those going alone and navigating the tower. Always take the stairs and only take the portals if you have no other option. Near the top of the middle part of the tower there is set of stairs that goes down, dont worry that is the right way.
did this w/ a 5 person party (4 of the ppl had done mission already): 33 whm/smn 31 whm/brd 35 thf/rng 32 mnk/war 33 blm/whm
total time: around 3hrs
don't fight unless necessary. use sneak/invisible and set up rally points to reapply. The RNG sub would use widescan to let the WHM know if sneak and/or invisible was needed and what mobs to expect.
one death before lvl 10 occured when a PT member got too far ahead and lost invisible got ganged by gobs. other than that, most of the mission was an exercise in patience.
it wasn't until around the 9th or 10th floor did mobs con T.
killed Mimas w/ no problem.
lost 3 peeps against Porphyrion due to Gigas spawn add. a whm survived to rez me in time for key while a high lvl smn/whm in the area rezzed the other 2.
If Mimas is there, he'll use 100 fist. Porphyrion uses Eagle Eye Shot (hit me for 320+)
