Mission Orders

Capture the three magicites in Davoi, Beadeaux, and Castle Oztroja to prevent the Shadow Lord's return.

Walkthrough

This mission may need an alliance and or high level assistance. This mission can take up to several hours, depending on your setup!

Jeuno

Head to Ru'Lude Gardens and talk to your Ambassador. He will then give you a key item to obtain an audience with the Archduke of Jeuno. After the cutscene, you need to obtain key items to gain access to the strongholds of the beastmen.

Take the letter the Duke gave you and present it to Aldo of the Tenshodo inside Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. If you are not a member of the Tenshodo you must become one before you can continue this mission. Either complete the quest for membership or buy a scroll from the Auction House. After a cutscene you will obtain a Silver Bell as one of the three for access to the Magicite in Beadeaux. Then, talk to Sattal-Mansal and he will tell you to bring him a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell so that he can give you the last two key items needed for Beadeaux -- Key Items, Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace.

Now, either fight Coeurls in Meriphataud Mountains for Coeurl Meat or buy a piece from the Auction House. Head to Upper Jeuno and talk to Baudin, who is next to a house across from the Chocobo Stables. Once the cutscene is over, trade him the meat and you will receive Davoi Charm.

Finally, just walk between the Armor and Weapon shops and talk to Paya-Sabya. After the cutscene, head to Muckvix's Junk Store in Lower Jeuno and talk to Muckvix in the back room. After a cutscene, you will receive a Yagudo Torch.

Now, it's time to head out.

Davoi

This one is quick and simple, but you may have to fight an Orcish Trooper or Orcish Gladiator at the Wall of Dark Arts. Once you enter Davoi, turn right, take top route to G-7, go to the southernmost point. You'll see the Wall of Dark Arts immediately.

Activate the wall, by clicking on it, pass through, and enter Monastic Cavern. There are no monsters in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall, click the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Optistone, warp back to Jeuno.

Castle Oztroja

Castle Oztroja will either be the longest or second longest task of the mission, because even to level 40+ everything will aggro halfway through, and the Yagudo appear in groups of three and four.

When you enter the castle, head to the door at (I-8). Have everyone stand back and away from the door. Send a Black Mage to test the levers, as if he triggers the trapdoor he can just Escape and come back. The lever combination changes with every game day, so just have one member try them. If the Black Mage is successful, then let him trigger the lever and have everyone else run inside the door.

Once inside, head to the right and up the stairs. You come to an intersection at (I-8) and need to head right. Follow this all the way straight and don't take the right turn at (I-7). Follow this until you come to another intersection, which is also on the second floor of the castle. DO NOT DROP DOWN, as you CAN fall. If you do, you have to start this all over again. Stay near the edge of the walls, and take the tunnel at (G-8), which will eventually lead you to an outside court at (G-7).

Again, you will be on an overpass and DON'T FALL DOWN. Go right and take the tunnel at (I-7). Once you enter the tunnel it's pretty straightforward. Head up the stairs, then down, and follow them until you reach an intersection. You're now heading into the lower depths of Castle Oztroja, where Yagudo Lutenists, Priors, Zealots, and Conquistadors are here, plentiful, and in groups of 2 - 4. If you're in an alliance of 35+ or even 40+, you will have to fight, so prepare yourselves.

Once you reach the intersection at (H-8), head right. Follow this through the bend, and go straight, ignoring the left turn at (G-9), and ignoring the left turn again at (G-9) when you follow the bend (if you look at the map, you'll see it's just a loop anyway). Follow this straight and you'll eventually come to the torch door -- this is what your Key Item: Yagudo Torch is for. Activate one of the two torches and wait for all members to appear on the other side.

Kill the few Yagudo here, and head right at the intersection at (H-10). Open the door, and enter the Altar Room. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Orustone, warp back to Jeuno.

Beadeaux

This part of the mission is actually easy to complete, but you have to make two trips. The first trip deals with killing the two named Quadav (not Notorious Monsters) and getting enough drops for everyone. This can be either quick, or time consuming, depending on the size of the alliance.

Enter Beadeaux, go straight, and head left at the intersection at (F-7). Follow the bed and go straight, ignoring the open area to the right. Follow the bend and head sound into the tunnel at (H-7). The Land Pugils aggro here, so you may need to kill them for anyone in the the 30s.

Once in the tunnel, follow the winding path down until you reach an intersection at (H-7). Left is the way to the Qulun Dome, and the Magicite. However, you only have one of the three key items needed to open the door, so we need to go right. Follow this path until you come to an intersection, and head right at (G-7), for left is The Afflictor, which will *curse* you. You have to be silenced by The Muter, to not be cursed when walking past The Afflictor. You'll see The Muter and you need to click on it and *activate* it to become muted.

We had a White Mage that had Silena and Cursna, so she didn't get muted, but had everyone else do so. They went ahead and killed all the Quadav in the room of The Afflictor at (G-8), while she just allowed herself to be cursed. She uncursed herself, and cast Silena on the other mages. We let her rest up, and just went on with our business.

Once past the machines, follow the tunnel and ignore the right turn at (F-7) and follow the tunnel out into the above. Follow the tunnel until you come to another Muter machine. Now, here's how you get onto the top platform and avoid the machines. You need to go *clockwise* around this entire area. On other words you need to go from (F-9) east, then southeast to (H-9). Go from here southwest to (H-10), then west and then southwest to (F-10) (the afflicter machines should be *out* of your vision or *north* of you), and finally go west and then north to (E-10) to the little incline leading up onto the above ledges.

You need to follow the southern ridge of this (DON'T FALL OFF!) until you get to (J-9). There will be a little doorway pass with some torches nearby. This is where De'Vyu Headhunter spawns, and depending on your alliance you may have to fight him numerous times. He usually drops 3 Quadav Charms, but since we had two alliances he did drop 2 and then 4 once. However, 3 seems to be the median. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes even, as we timed it when we had to kill him 8 times.

After every person has a charm, let's head back north to the starting area, but STAY ON THE LEDGE. You need to follow the ridge again until you get to (F-6), which is right by the entrance. At (F-6), near the two huts on the ledge, is where Go'Bhu Gascon will spawn. He drops the Quadav Augury Shell, the last of the two items needed, and like De'Vyu Headhunter, he drops a median of 3 shells per fight. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes as well.

Once everyone has a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell, head back to Jeuno. Enter the Neptune's Spire again and trade the items *ONE at a time* to Sattal-Mansa. For some reason, if you trade him both at the same time (this happened to one of our members), he gives you the key item for the first item put in. He also takes the second item, but doesn't give you credit for it, so you'll have to go back to fight one of the two named Quadav to get another one.

After everyone has their two key items, head back to Beadeaux. Head to the the Qulun Dome as mentioned above. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Aurastone, warp back to Jeuno.

Jeuno

Head back to the Archduke and a cutscene will play. He will give you your airship pass! Then, head to your embassy and talk to the person behind the counter. You will then be recognized as having achieved Rank 5 and will be awarded 10,000gil as well! The assistant to the ambassador will then order you home.

If you already have an airship pass (for whatever reason), the Duke will give you an additional 20,000 gil, in addition to the 10,000 gil you receive from the embassy.

i had a level 70 Warrior with me when i did it, and she said you'll still get aggro in these areas up to about level 52 or so. most of the mobs wouldn't be that difficult to defeat, but a lot of times they come in groups, so I'd try to bring at least another person with u just in case.

I'm bringing one other person (lower level) who can sneak and invis so that I only have to fight De'Vyu Headhunter and Go'Bhu Gascon (if everything goes right). Will I be able to take those two by myself?
Sattal-Mansal

Finished the first part of Beadeaux this morning (thanks a million Suzunosuke). Just a note that apparently SE fixed the bug trading the two items to Sattal-Mansal. I forgot about the guidance here that I trade them one at the time and did both at once. He only gave me one of the items (Coruscant rosary) in return but, thank the gods, the Augery shell remained in my inventory and I was able to obtain the Black matinee necklace without a return trip to Beadeaux.

i talkd to aldo, sattal mansal or whatever..

and baudin. they all gave me a cutscene and no key item (because i already had them from sandoria missions)

muckvix never gave me a cutscene...

i went to magicite sites and got a magicite and cutscene from each spot...

That's cause the key items (cept for the magicite) never go away, you don't have to repeat the parts that just give key items.

I hate to be the one to spoil the fear of this mission, but aside from taking a while to finish, it's not all that hard if you're careful.

I did it all as a WHM and only needed a RDM of the same lvl to finish it. In general this game is not about power so much as smarts and timing. If things aggro to sight, don't power through them, just wait for them to turn around. Don't be so keyboard happy to attack the second you see who you're looking for either. Know when to run and when to stand and fight. There are times during this mission where it's better to aggro 15 yags and run past because the zone is so close and you need to open a door. Other times sneak and invis are the only way. Also keep in mind: If you know you're about to get a cut scene, you can't be hurt while watching it. Worry about the fight after getting what you came for! No sense dieing without seeing the cut scene, the mobs can wait.
I had my airship pass at lvl 45.

My LS just did this

PT was lvl 43 PLD/WAR, lvl 43 DRK/WAR, lvl 43 BLM/WHM, lvl 40 RNG/WAR, lvl 50 THF/NIN, and lvl 50 WHM/SMN.

These were very easy. Even the mobs in the Castle aren't too tough as long as you make an attempt to fight them 1 at a time. BLM used Sleep II if we had links. It was all Easy Prey mobs for us at lvl 43 until the last area.

Davoi was quick. We fought the 2 mobs blocking the door by using Carbuncle pull so they didnt' link. Both mobs were T to us at lvl 43, np for a good pt.

Beadeaux is the easiest, but time consuming. Pull Gascon off the ledge from below with a spell. This can save you a little travelling later. I (DRK) used Stun and didn't even have a link. We had 5 of us get Silenced by the mute b4 passing the afflictor, the WHM took the curse, used Cursna on himself, and then Silena on the rest of us. After WHM was healed, it was a straight shot. All the mobs were EP for us at 43 until we hit the Headhunter. Got 3 charms on each kill, and got 3 Augery shells on each kill of Gascon, so we killed both twice. Warp II back to Jeuno, and then Tele-Dem and head back. Didnt' even have to fight a single mob to enter the part of the Qulum dome with the Magicite.

Thought it might be helpful. Makes sense too, noone wants drummers and oracles dropping from the sky.

I damn near soloed this entire thing.

I only had help with Beadeaux because I didn't know where the Quadavs were for them one items, so a PLD helped me kill them and get the items.

Soloed Oztroja.

Asked a passing-by JP RDM to kill the two Easy Prey orcs by the Wall of Dark Arts. This was pretty quick and easy for me.
Done!

Did this the other night with 3 other people. So we had a 50BLM/WHM, 41 MNK/WAR, 36RDM/BLM and 32TH/RNG. We went to Beadeaux first to kill the NM Quads. We weren't sure which way to get to De'Vyu so I ask a lvl 50 named Eleaven if he knew where the spawn point was and he knew. He also joined us in an alliance and help kill De'Vyu, then he went on to kill Go'Bhu. Thanks for the help Eleaven!! Both NM's dropped 3 of the needed items, perfect for our party since the 50BLM was already Rank 5. We warp back to Jeuno then choco back to Beadeaux..1/3 Magicite done total time ~1 hour.

Warp back to Jeuno get choco and onto Davoi. This had to be the easiest part, took all of 7 mins. The only bad part was I am only lvl36 and I saw the storage hole for my AF1 :( 2/3 Magicite done.

Warp back to Jeuno and then we are off to the Castle. This part sucked. At first we were killing our way in there. Then we started to cast sneak and invisible. At lvl36 I was getting agro from the bats once we got to the second floor. I didnt have a map and I took a wrong turn. This is when it got bad. I lost invis and got agro from the Yags. I asked if we were close to zone and party said yes. So I make a run for it. I didnt know they were already fighting a Yag and I trained atleast 30 Yags to them which wound up killing the whole party. What a jackass move. We had no choice but to go to HP and try again. This time no fighting. We went straight to the torch door which was tricky. There are 2 spots for the torch I went to the 1 on the left and it said I was too far and that I cant reach it. I was standing right next to it! I tried that 3 times, meanwhile the other 2 guys made it thru and the lvl50 is taking a beating from the Yags at the door. I switched to the other torch holder and get the cut scene. The BLM is almost dead so I start healing her from the other side of the door but she died anyway THEN the Yags jump thru the door! I start running to the zone. Make a right at the intersection for the next door. I had less than 100 health left when I got thru but...3/3 Magicite total time ~2 hours.

Warp back to Jeuno and talk to the Archduke get the airship pass then I talk to the Consul...Rank 5 and 10k richer!!!

I just want to apologize to Seraphia, Quiksilver and Falix for getting them killed the first trip to the Castle. Sorry!!!!

Good luck on your Rank 5 mission. It is real fun!

Note on Castle Oz, first door:

You don't need a blm to open this door. Just turn the handle and immediately back up. Either the door will open, or you'll see the trapdoor open in front of you. It isn't instant, so you have plenty of time (<1 second, but plenty) to get out of the way.

Do will probably have to fight some tier 4 stuff when you have to enter doors in Davoi and Oztrajo. A couple of low 50's should have no trouble.

I just did the Castle and Davoi part of this mission. In total I used up 12 prism powders and 12 silent oils.

Note that I didn't really have to use up a whole stack... technically I only used 7. I used 4 extras of them in Castle Otroza when I accidentally un-invis'ed next to a T Yagudo and had to warp out. And I wasted one in Davoi before I figured out that invis and sneak will disappear after zoning...

Hope it helps someone.

Oh yeah, it took around 1.5h to complete both, taking in account travel time (but of course I had warp and escape so it might take longer)

I'll be doing the last part later this week since a LS mate is getting together a bunch of lvl 60s to help butcher all the NM... haha

Or, in this case, trade them to Morlepiche, right there in the Gardens near the embassies. He stands in for the signet-casting guards of each of the 3 countries, and can give you rank points for crystals.

I found that it took 3 stacks of crystals after I got rank 4 to run right back to the embassy and get the Magicite mission.

FYI for those in Castle Oztroja, if you are having problems opening the second door, try standing away from the torch.

I stood right next to it and it told me I couldn't reach it. When I took a couple steps back, it opened the door.

The Wall of Evil noted in the original post is actually supposed to be the "Wall of Dark Arts".

Which may seem silly to you folks, but I was running around the area trying to find the 'other' wall that I needed!

Davoi: Walk in the park. I was Thf 34, with a 38 War, 30 War, and 60 Sam. We went straight there, with only killing two orcs near the end.

Beadeaux: This one can be time consuming. I had the same two wars, with a 30 Blm, and a 55 whm. We had to kill first NM 3 times, and the second one once.
Tip: Try to have Cursna. It really helps when you have to pass by the afflictor. IF you do NOT need magic. Before you go by afflictor, go examine The Mute, you will be silenced, but it will prevent you from being cursed.

Caste of Oztroja:
1. Bring Sneak and Invis. I had Silent Oil and Tonko: Ichi
2. Have someone else open the initial door. If you have to wait a little while for someone to come by, do so. it will save you a hastle. You do NOT need a blm to open the door for you. though it could help.
3. I soloed all the way to the Torch Door. I couldn't take the two Yags by myself, but luckily a small party showed up, and they killed it. I tried to help, died. But luckily there was a raiser ^.^
4. I had the option of joining a party that was there. But they planned to fight there whole way to the door. Bad idea. It wastes time, energy, and you have a huge chance of death if you are lvl. 45 or below.

This is kinda off topic but I lost a linkshell attempting this lol, i was going to find a pt and was wondering how hard it would be, im lvl 50 rng and didnt know at the time i could most likely solo this. So i ask my devout ls this question "Is rank 5 hard?" after asking that question THREE times still no answer (six ppl in ls online at the time three lvl 60 plus). The ppl in the linkshell had never really helped before but this was a simple yes or no. So i said ***** it and said "/shout Lvl 50 rng looking for linkshell that doesnt suck" knowing full well two members of my ls where within earshot and lonebehold i get a shout instantly from one member "Lushiousbrimstone: You suck like oh em geez" and then a tell saying that the members were prolly busy at the time. But i mean its not like i wanted them to come with, just a simple yes or no, funny how two members found time in their oh so busy scheduale to tell me i sucked but couldnt say yes or no. Being nothing but a nice person who tried his best to help ppl in this ls and getting nothing in return i ponder to myself if this is how all linkshells treat people that they dont know personally, semi new to thier ls (was in it for about 2-3weeks)

After getin cold shoulders from ppl i dont know to ppl in my freaking ls i get discouraged. So if anyone on kujata has a ls that can spare time to answer yes or no questions and wont spend all their time badmouthing newbs then send a tell and ill happily join ^^

my point: if you're planning on changeing alliance, do it before u do rank 5, or after u complete rank 6, or else u cant

I just duoed this mission. With me (40 blm) and my wife (40 whm) The only thing I needed help on was killing De'Vyu Headhunter, and I got lucky because somebody else was in the Castle Oztrajo so I asked if he could kill the Yagados by the "Yagado torch" entrance. I killed the other Quaddav myself. Very tough fight. conned Tough to me and definatly showed it. Just kept blink and aquaveil on the whole time.

Davoi and the Castle Oztrajo parts are wicked easy with Invisible. and the Beadeaux part you use sneak. and just kill what you have to. (the two NM quads)
Well, i'm pissed
