Mission Orders

Capture the three magicites in Davoi, Beadeaux, and Castle Oztroja to prevent the Shadow Lord's return.

Walkthrough

This mission may need an alliance and or high level assistance. This mission can take up to several hours, depending on your setup!

Jeuno

Head to Ru'Lude Gardens and talk to your Ambassador. He will then give you a key item to obtain an audience with the Archduke of Jeuno. After the cutscene, you need to obtain key items to gain access to the strongholds of the beastmen.

Take the letter the Duke gave you and present it to Aldo of the Tenshodo inside Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. If you are not a member of the Tenshodo you must become one before you can continue this mission. Either complete the quest for membership or buy a scroll from the Auction House. After a cutscene you will obtain a Silver Bell as one of the three for access to the Magicite in Beadeaux. Then, talk to Sattal-Mansal and he will tell you to bring him a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell so that he can give you the last two key items needed for Beadeaux -- Key Items, Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace.

Now, either fight Coeurls in Meriphataud Mountains for Coeurl Meat or buy a piece from the Auction House. Head to Upper Jeuno and talk to Baudin, who is next to a house across from the Chocobo Stables. Once the cutscene is over, trade him the meat and you will receive Davoi Charm.

Finally, just walk between the Armor and Weapon shops and talk to Paya-Sabya. After the cutscene, head to Muckvix's Junk Store in Lower Jeuno and talk to Muckvix in the back room. After a cutscene, you will receive a Yagudo Torch.

Now, it's time to head out.

Davoi

This one is quick and simple, but you may have to fight an Orcish Trooper or Orcish Gladiator at the Wall of Dark Arts. Once you enter Davoi, turn right, take top route to G-7, go to the southernmost point. You'll see the Wall of Dark Arts immediately.

Activate the wall, by clicking on it, pass through, and enter Monastic Cavern. There are no monsters in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall, click the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Optistone, warp back to Jeuno.

Castle Oztroja

Castle Oztroja will either be the longest or second longest task of the mission, because even to level 40+ everything will aggro halfway through, and the Yagudo appear in groups of three and four.

When you enter the castle, head to the door at (I-8). Have everyone stand back and away from the door. Send a Black Mage to test the levers, as if he triggers the trapdoor he can just Escape and come back. The lever combination changes with every game day, so just have one member try them. If the Black Mage is successful, then let him trigger the lever and have everyone else run inside the door.

Once inside, head to the right and up the stairs. You come to an intersection at (I-8) and need to head right. Follow this all the way straight and don't take the right turn at (I-7). Follow this until you come to another intersection, which is also on the second floor of the castle. DO NOT DROP DOWN, as you CAN fall. If you do, you have to start this all over again. Stay near the edge of the walls, and take the tunnel at (G-8), which will eventually lead you to an outside court at (G-7).

Again, you will be on an overpass and DON'T FALL DOWN. Go right and take the tunnel at (I-7). Once you enter the tunnel it's pretty straightforward. Head up the stairs, then down, and follow them until you reach an intersection. You're now heading into the lower depths of Castle Oztroja, where Yagudo Lutenists, Priors, Zealots, and Conquistadors are here, plentiful, and in groups of 2 - 4. If you're in an alliance of 35+ or even 40+, you will have to fight, so prepare yourselves.

Once you reach the intersection at (H-8), head right. Follow this through the bend, and go straight, ignoring the left turn at (G-9), and ignoring the left turn again at (G-9) when you follow the bend (if you look at the map, you'll see it's just a loop anyway). Follow this straight and you'll eventually come to the torch door -- this is what your Key Item: Yagudo Torch is for. Activate one of the two torches and wait for all members to appear on the other side.

Kill the few Yagudo here, and head right at the intersection at (H-10). Open the door, and enter the Altar Room. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Orustone, warp back to Jeuno.

Beadeaux

This part of the mission is actually easy to complete, but you have to make two trips. The first trip deals with killing the two named Quadav (not Notorious Monsters) and getting enough drops for everyone. This can be either quick, or time consuming, depending on the size of the alliance.

Enter Beadeaux, go straight, and head left at the intersection at (F-7). Follow the bed and go straight, ignoring the open area to the right. Follow the bend and head sound into the tunnel at (H-7). The Land Pugils aggro here, so you may need to kill them for anyone in the the 30s.

Once in the tunnel, follow the winding path down until you reach an intersection at (H-7). Left is the way to the Qulun Dome, and the Magicite. However, you only have one of the three key items needed to open the door, so we need to go right. Follow this path until you come to an intersection, and head right at (G-7), for left is The Afflictor, which will *curse* you. You have to be silenced by The Muter, to not be cursed when walking past The Afflictor. You'll see The Muter and you need to click on it and *activate* it to become muted.

We had a White Mage that had Silena and Cursna, so she didn't get muted, but had everyone else do so. They went ahead and killed all the Quadav in the room of The Afflictor at (G-8), while she just allowed herself to be cursed. She uncursed herself, and cast Silena on the other mages. We let her rest up, and just went on with our business.

Once past the machines, follow the tunnel and ignore the right turn at (F-7) and follow the tunnel out into the above. Follow the tunnel until you come to another Muter machine. Now, here's how you get onto the top platform and avoid the machines. You need to go *clockwise* around this entire area. On other words you need to go from (F-9) east, then southeast to (H-9). Go from here southwest to (H-10), then west and then southwest to (F-10) (the afflicter machines should be *out* of your vision or *north* of you), and finally go west and then north to (E-10) to the little incline leading up onto the above ledges.

You need to follow the southern ridge of this (DON'T FALL OFF!) until you get to (J-9). There will be a little doorway pass with some torches nearby. This is where De'Vyu Headhunter spawns, and depending on your alliance you may have to fight him numerous times. He usually drops 3 Quadav Charms, but since we had two alliances he did drop 2 and then 4 once. However, 3 seems to be the median. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes even, as we timed it when we had to kill him 8 times.

After every person has a charm, let's head back north to the starting area, but STAY ON THE LEDGE. You need to follow the ridge again until you get to (F-6), which is right by the entrance. At (F-6), near the two huts on the ledge, is where Go'Bhu Gascon will spawn. He drops the Quadav Augury Shell, the last of the two items needed, and like De'Vyu Headhunter, he drops a median of 3 shells per fight. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes as well.

Once everyone has a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell, head back to Jeuno. Enter the Neptune's Spire again and trade the items *ONE at a time* to Sattal-Mansa. For some reason, if you trade him both at the same time (this happened to one of our members), he gives you the key item for the first item put in. He also takes the second item, but doesn't give you credit for it, so you'll have to go back to fight one of the two named Quadav to get another one.

After everyone has their two key items, head back to Beadeaux. Head to the the Qulun Dome as mentioned above. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Aurastone, warp back to Jeuno.

Jeuno

Head back to the Archduke and a cutscene will play. He will give you your airship pass! Then, head to your embassy and talk to the person behind the counter. You will then be recognized as having achieved Rank 5 and will be awarded 10,000gil as well! The assistant to the ambassador will then order you home.

If you already have an airship pass (for whatever reason), the Duke will give you an additional 20,000 gil, in addition to the 10,000 gil you receive from the embassy.

I soloed this mission exept for the beadeaux items (had help from a lvl 75 DRK)
Davoi is very easy to solo...
Beadeaux is easy too if you got the shell and the charm..:)
The only thing that sucked was castle oztroja...as a lvl 40 PLD the first floor is no prob, but after you enter the first door everything will aggro..so i got killed...then a high lvl DRG offered to help me but he didn`t know the way..:(..got killed again...I wanted that airship pass so bad..so i bought a stack of silent oil and prism powder and gave it another try, and this time i made it.with 58 HP left...I lost about 1500 EXP, but now i have my airship pass and it was worth the trouble!
Not too challenging...for a high level.

We did this with six members.
WHM37/BLM18, PLD50/WAR25, BST51/RDM25, PLD32/WAR16, PLD45/WAR22 and me, BLM41/WHM20.
Beadeaux took a little while. Three kills each Quadav, took about two hours. Give or take.
Davoi took ten minutes. Instructions were great.
Castle Oztroja took about an hour...again give or take.
Only problem was the odd ITs on the top. But that was IT to 41...EP to 50.
All and all, it was pretty straight-forward if you have instructions. It was actually very enjoyable. Also loved the cut scenes...^^;

Tips? Get a few 50+ people and you'll have no problem. Snag a 50+PLD and you're golden.

Getting Started

I can't get started with this mission. I finished mission 9 to gain rank 4 and was told by the ambassador that I am not ready for this mission. Reading the mission, it says that there is no fame needed. and that the min lvl is 20. I may be missing something but im not sure. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know.

You finished mission 9? What does that mean? Anyway, if you're Rank 4, just donate a few stacks of crystals to the gate guard, then talk to the secretary of your Embassy in Jeuno.
No fame needed means you don't need to have certain quests done.
And the lvl.20 is an estimate I suppose...
Davoi = Pathetic.

I just solo'd the Davoi magicite mission as a 33War/16Mnk.

I have to say, it was the easiest mission yet, easier than "Bat Hunt" or "Smash the Orcish Scouts"

I followed the instructions above, and got a little bit of aggro while going through the "Wall of Evil Arts" but i quickly took a few steps forward and was unable to be attacked anymore.

While I was leaving, I had a pretty train of orcs..hahaha, about 15-18 of them on me, none of them even hit me though, mind a few spells.

Simple, now I just have to do Beadeaux and Oztroja, got the Quadav augery shell already, need a quadav charm now.
Help!!

I fought De'Vyu the Headhunter with a "party". The party was 43 BLM, 42 RDM, 20 WHM. The RDM used his 2-hour to pull hate so I could nuke from the start, and he went down easy. But we only got 2 charms. ><

The second fight was a bit tougher. The RDM couldn't get any spells off, and stoneskin wore off real quick. We were all about 50% health, and then the RDM died, then the WHM died. I used my 2-hour and cast 2 spells to finish De'Vyu off. Of course we got 3 charms that time... ><.

Davoi was easy. Just be careful to not get aggro when trying to open the wall.

We're doing Oztrajo tomorrow.

This mission is not hard and it does NOT take 8+ hours. You can get anyone 55+ and do this in less than an hour (all 3 parts). Davoi is a joke. Castle O is long, but do-able with sneak and invis items. Beadux is the longest one, but still can be done in 15 minutes. Kill the NM's and go. No sweat.

I'm so tired of people saying "oh that's easy", just get a high level to do it for you. That makes no sense at all. All that means is that it's *easy* for a lvl 55+ to do it, yeah, it's *easy* to follow someone around and do nothing.

Well, I did Beadeaux just now with two friends - the 40PLD and I (32BLM) were pretty much just along for the ride, as the guy that suggested we start - a 52RDM - just tore through everything. The fights themselves weren't that hard, but none of us had any idea where we were going. Even with this page up we had a hard time finding the NMs. It eventually happened (and I'm loving the storyline ^^) but took a few hours just to get through Beadeaux. From the looks of things, Davoi will be cake and Oztroja...well, I'm pretty familliar with it (and I have a map, lol). Going to do the others this weekend (hell maybe even solo them).

In Castle Oztrajo, when you get to the levers, its possible to pull the lever and run off to avoid the trap door.

Hope this helps someone.

Quick work

Thanks a bunch guys, but I have something to add to your wisdom here. Yes, it's true you can muscle your way through this mission with a PT, but Jelia(42rdm/??nin) and myself ZAPU(40whm/20blm) finished it last night. We took a slightly different approach. We were nervious at first b/c everyone told us we would die trying... We really wanted that airship pass!

Here it is:
Castle Oztrajo was first...
We sneak and invis up to the first door. Jelia hits the wrong lever and we fall. No big deal, we climb the stairs (with invis) and come right back around to try the other lever. We turned the other lever (after waiting for the yags to turn their back of course b/c he needed to cancal invis to do it) I kept my invis and ran in when the door opened. We actually found that invis was enough, but tried to keep both anyway. The next door we tried to wait for the yags to turn around, but got aggro anyway. (good thing we had blink and stoneskin) we both lit the torches and got the cutscene to walk in. The yags follow us, so we ran in and (made the right turn)right past the next pare of yags guarding the second door. (Those yags aggro too of course) I opened it and we both ran through and zoned. We had no chance of winning a fight, (the only hit I got was as I zoned and gave me 135 dam) but there was no need b/c the zone was so close. No mobs after zone and we got the magicite.

Davoi was second:
followed the directions posted above and it too was a virtual cake walk. Sneaked/invis around and found plenty of places to hide for recast. Perfect directions above.

Beadeaux next... (part 1)
For the most part I felt lucky b/c a few time we were too close, but got no aggro doing recasts. (use the doorways to the tunnels for cover) We went strait to the top "as advised above" and found De'Vyu Headhunter after walking around a bit near the open gate there. He was T to jelia (I didn't check) a bit of advice here, if you're a whm, just heal your tank b/c though dam may look good, this guy has a ton of HP. Save your MP for healing and rest if possible. Jelia had her RSE on which lowered her def to 156 or so, but gave her 701 HP. I ran out of MP using Banish II a few times, but the dam was half what I usually do. (not worth the cost) We were happy to survive, but I also had to use benidiction. We rested and found Go'Bhu Gascon at (F-6), near the two huts as posted above. He was the easier fight and we killed him fast but got only 1 drop from him! and had to wait the 15 min for a respawn. By now it was 3AM and jelia was tired and a little overeager and pulled him before letting the other quadav's move far enough away and she linked another one. Bad idea... I caught hate and that was the end of my casting. I died with 160 MP left and jelia followed soon after. We warped to jeuno (I didn't have reraise on me..oops) and quickly returned to DEM and a short chocobo ride later we zoned back to Beadeaux. This time tho we stayed near the enterence and waited a minute or two for old Go'Bhu Gascon to be alone and close enough to the edge to cast dia. He ran down and we killed him with ease. Ended the fight with half my MP and full health for the both of us. Pulling Go'Bhu Gascon off the side let us avoid the hell of being silenced or cursed by those devices and there was no real need for sneak/invis.
(PART 2)
On our first go through Beadeax we found the Qulun Dome, and yes as Cheesdog Scholar says, make the *LEFT* so we know right where to pick it up.

My opinoin... Jelia was great, the nin gave her 2 weapons, the rdm let her buff up and enfeeble. Nice combo. Plus, she had her RSE which gave an extra 100 HP or so. My only problem was that she wasn't able to provoke and I took hate more often than I liked. Wasted MP healing myself, which also generated more hate... Still, it was nice seeing all the hits of 2 weapons with her extra dam from the buffs. Good luck guys! If I had to do this again, it would be half the trouble now that I have gone through it already. I'm not scared anymore! :) YAY

Our thanks to ** this mission post, Cheesdog Scholar & LeonXGriever ** See you on the airship!!

You were lucky, though. See, the issue is it's not difficult to do that, until you get to the door near the magicite in Castle Oztroja. That door is very, very finicky. You stand in the wrong place, and it won't open. I soloed that mission also - got down there 6 times...each time waiting patiently for the Yagudos to turn their backs, then dropping invis and trying to get through the door... Each time I spent many attempts to open the door, it wouldn't open, finally one of the yagudos would turn, and kill me, while I'm STILL trying to get the damn door to open. Finally, a party came through at the same time as I was there and killed the two Yagudos, so I was finally able to get through, but it seems like a matter of luck as to whether or not you manage to stand in just the right spot to get the damn door to open. If you're unlucky, be prepared to die here *many* times.

Hello, i've just completed mission 3.3 and have spoken with my ambassador (bastok) i was given rank 4, and the 5000gil was nice too.

my problem is that i cant activate the rank 4 mission, i never recieved a letter to give to the archduke, and now when i try to see my ambassador
the door "is firmly barred" or something like that, and the Galka behind the counter says," we need your help in securing the surronding areas"

anyways if this has happened to you, or you know what i've missed, let me know, otherwise ill be in my mog house. (im trying to talk my moogle into becoming my personal whm, think he might go for it?) ^.~

Don't need to head to home city, you can give crystals to the jeuno reps that stand at the Home Points in Jeuno (i used port jeuno as that was where my HP was set and theres an AH nearby).

It took me 5 or 6 stacks to fill up my bar (actually i overfilled and they gave me some Conquest Points) for the rest.

Ok we did Davoi and Castle Otroza today. Our party was 50 whm, 42 rdm, 50 drk, 40 drk(me) Another 40 drk, and 30 thf.

Soon as we begin...50 drk has to go cuz his 14 year old brother started crying cuz he couldnt play...the ******* ~_~

we go do davoi...easy ****. At the wall of evil we ran into an orc that was IT to me...destroyed it. got magicite. interesting scene.

we go to castle...damn hell hole...our 42 rdm has to go. now we r 50whm, 40 drk, 40 drk, 30 thf. then i read the guide and notice we need a blm. so we call some blm to come help...he was 39. so we go on. I die cuz i went ahead and got owned by 2 decent challenges -_- delvl...they let me solo some so i could lvl(and wear my armor again). then using combination of sneak/invis and fighting our way through we geat near the bottom. the blm(only rank 3 and just helping us) has to go so he warps out. at the torches we have to fight a T and a VT(to me) at once...not too bad, mainly because of the whm. Then before the final door we had to pick off a T before we could kill the IT...the scene was awesome...kickass taru.

looking forward to doing beadaux tomorrow...hear its not that bad. thats good...the castle was 2 hours of hell =/

we did this all in 4 hrs...with interruptions too. i guess the whms tele helps save good time off the 8 hours the guide says

45 Ranger Solo

First of all the directions for Beadeaux are wrong.

Once in the tunnel, follow the winding path down until you reach an intersection at (H-7). *RIGHT* is the way to the Qulun Dome, and the Magicite. However, you only have one of the three key items needed to open the door, so we need to go *LEFT*.

LEFT is Qulun Dome - RIGHT is the way to go here.

Also, as a level 45 Ranger I was able to solo the entire mission.

Davio was easy - I used tonko:ichi and the dumb orcs couldn't see me. Orcs are dirty, my nice winged boots needed to be cleaned when I got back to Jueno ---->Orc crap!

Ostrajo a little tougher - tonko:ichi worked again and at 45 all the bats were too weak. I must have picked the right door to start so that was easy. The next door into the Magicite was a little tricky. A redmage and dragoon in the low 40's came by as I was waiting for Yags to move so we teamed up and cleared the room. I could have just waited for some space between the Yag and the door but it was fun to kill them. Easy -->done.

Beadeaux - This one was the toughest. Quadav's are a tough kill even when too weak. The easy prey Quad's kick my butt. Silent oils are needed cuz Quads see through invis or tonko and they aren't as dumb as indicated above. I soloed Headhunter with sleep arrows - 58 of them to be exact - it was a good fight but I beat him and he was EM to me at 45. Buscon is right by entrance on ledge and was able to clear area and pull him down without going up top. I did have whm in my LS help, but it would have been easier if I did the sleep arrow thing again cuz he was just EP to me. Hatomi my whm friend and I died trying to kill him, but we were fooling around and she was skilling up her club. Killed him easy second time no problem.

To sum up 2 40+ could do this whole mission easy. With the right technique a 45 Ranger/Ninja with silent oils can do the whole thing solo - but expensive (sleep arrows 5k a stack and you will need 2 stacks to be safe).

Good luck!

Buy a Tenshodo Invite from the AH, or ask your friends or linkshell mates if they still have their extra one (when you join, they give you an invite to give to someone else). I've seen them go for anywhere between 1,000-5,000 gil on Leviathan.

I know i'd need help on the named Quadavs in Beadeaux, but someone said that it's soloable with sneak/invis. If you could give it as the number for each area (ex. Davoi-1 stack of each, etc) that would be great, but I just need to know a rough guess on how many i'd need to do all 3 parts.

Edit-I decided to go ahead and try this today. I only used 1 of each in Davoi. I didn't count the ones in Oztroza, but I'd guess somewhere around 6-9 of each there. Doing Beadeaux tomorrow.

For all those that are getting readt to do this, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEBODY TO GET THE TWO AT THE TORCH ROOM!!!. Once thru and after the cut scene there is a back exit that will take you up and toward the entrance. Just finished this tonight. Cant wait for my next trip from Bastok to Juno....

Is the Davoi Report is skipable? It says so on this site but I have heard otherwise. I know the Davoi Crystal Mission certainly is, but you may have have to go do the Report. If you are a high enough level to do this mission, the Report should be a non-agro cake walk.

Choco there, zone in, click on the ???, warp home.

I just wanted to note that after speaking with Muckvix, he told me he was out of Torches and that Fickies may have some and he's out the on the street. At that point you have to go to Upper Jeuno to I-8 (IIRC) and speak with either the little Taru girl or the little Galkan boy (sorry I don't remember their names). You will get a cutscene. Return to Muckvix and he'll say again that he's out of Torches, but this time Ficknix will show up and give you one (after another cutscene).
best way

The best way to do this is to set ur home points in jueno and get a lvl 40+ blm after u set your home point in jueno u should either head to davoi or beadeaux. Those to take a matter of minutes to run through if u have a party memeber that knows where to go. After u get the magicite you can just get ur blm to warp u back so its very quick after you finish those 2, it would be smart to get a high lvl or some1 that knows there way through the castle it is by far the longest

^^ This is only including the second part^^

well have fun
