Mission Orders

You must go to Castle Zvahl in Xarcabard. The President himself will brief you in his office.

Walkthrough

The Windurst Mission is called "The Shadow Awaits". You must speak with the Star Sybil after getting the mission from the guard.

You may need to talk to Halver and Prince Trion for a cutscene in order to enter the Shadow Lord fight. Only one party may take part in this mission at a time.

It is recommended you finish the quest "Northward" from Radeivepart (Ru'lude Gardens, Peace Monument) for a map of Castle Zvahl.

After you have the mission intitated, head to Xarcabard, then Castle Zvahl Baileys. Make your way in to Castle Zvahl Keep. Beware, there are multiple types of beastmen on the way in, some which detect by sound and others by sight.

Once in the Keep, you will need to make your way through several gates and Ore doors to the teleporters. You should kill the demons around the teleporters to avoid trains of mobs. Once you have gone through all the teleporters you will enter the Throne Room. There are no mobs in this area so you can use this place to med and buff. Once that is done head across the bridge to the tower and open the door to the Throne Room where the tomb of the Shadow Lord lies.

The first Shadow Lord form will be immune to almost all forms of magic. He later becomes immune to physical damage and so you must finish him off with magic. After you kill him he will of course get upset and come at you again. He will do only AE attacks so make sure to use Curaga spells.

After you are done head back to your home town to collect your 20,000 gil reward and Rank 6.

I must avenge my death!
# Feb 20 2004 at 5:10 AM Rating: Default
Wow, finally something BLM's are good at!!

When the shadowlord was at 25% health(about 2 minutes in the fight), he became immune to all physical attacks. I nuked for about 500dmg, and got 1 shot hit 750dmg WS because i was too close.

About 20minutes of fighting the party get bored and decide to raise me cause i'm the only nuker. I cast about 1000dmg in nukes. Then the whm dies, and main tank dies. I manafont, nuke nuke, and cast the biggie freeze. Totally about 4000dmg before i gain agro and he chases me in a corner where i die from a 200dmg hit. I think i was about 2kdmg from actually killing him.

The sad part about BLM is that the melee damage dealer did about 30,000dmg in the beginning and I still gained agro after 4000dmg at the end.... Nothing beats a 1 hit death from 100%hp to 0%hp.

There is no Level cap for this mission.

I'm from windurst so this info may somewhat be geared toward what a windurst has to do.

If this is mission that comes after the Fei'Yin skeleton one then

This mission should be called

"The Shadows Await"

Description: As written in the stars and interpreted by the Star Sibyl, you are destined to journey to Castle Zvahl, which towers over Xarcabard, the end of the known lands. There, you are to witness what fate has in store for our world.

you have to fill up your rank xp bar by giving crystals to conquest guard then go talk to mission npc that use to give you missions in your home town, who was Rakoh Buuma for windurst people. Hopefully it'll give you the option to choose "The Shadow Awaits" mission.

Once you accepted the mission you'll get key item: Star crested summons.

I then had to go to the champers in Heaven's Tower since I was from Windurst.

I went and talked to Star Sibyl who said to travel to Castle Zvahl and prevent resurrection of the Shadow Lord.

---------

I finaly finished this mission, the cut scene with shadow lord was real cool.

Shadowlord has 2 versions first is alot tougher and takes longer to kill. When you kill first version you have to fight the second one which does more AE's and is alot easier to kill.

After you defeat him return to Heaven's Tower in Windurst where you get a cutscene when entering, go up and examine Star Sibyl door for another cutscene. The mission is ended and you get rank 6 and 20k in gil.

Lvl Cap?
# Jan 15 2004 at 12:17 PM Rating: Default
I see a burning circle mentioned, but no mention of if there is a cap, and if so what is the lvl cap. So, is there a cap, and if so, what's the lvl?
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 13 2004 at 5:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) is this repeatable?

I can see that someone's already mentioned this, but I'd like to bring it to the top just so it get's a bit more attention. During the day here in North America, when all the North Americans are on, Rank 6 is Bloody high, most people you see arnt even rank 5 yet. But just now I took a trip over to kazham to see if I could snach up a party, and poof, 5 Rank 10 people. Now I'm thinking that maby the reason this site doesnt give any info on Ranks 6 through 10 is because the person inputing the info hasnt done them yet. Well I hope that info on those ranks pop's up sometime soon and maby if theres anyone out there that has info, maby you can post a few comments. Thanx.

Shadiw lord as I understand it is just a servant of a dark god. Perhaps we'll have to fight the god hinself.

It would be typical of Squareenix now wouldn't it.;)
Very easy for lvl 60

Shadow lord is harder than the lich on 5-1.

This boss is too hard for lvl 55 PT, fight it when you lvl 60 for easy battle.

Free Gil

This is a good way to earn gil^^ Get with your high level PT and kill this guy over and over... kinda like killing that dragon in Mission 6. If, for some reason, this is not repeatable... :/

Not the final mission
# Dec 23 2003 at 11:18 PM Rating: Default
This is not the final mission. There are a total of 10 ranks so far, with room for more with expansions etc...
Ending?
# Dec 19 2003 at 7:27 PM Rating: Decent
You kill the shadowlord in this mission? The guy that leads all the beastmen? Isn't that kinda, well... final? In that Vanadiel won't need any adventurers anymore after his death?
RE: Ending?
# Dec 20 2003 at 10:12 AM Rating: Good
I think it would fit into the plot, once the Shadowlord is killed the nations no longer have a common enemy and fall into chaos, perfect way to introduce PvP
RE: Ending?
# Jan 14 2004 at 2:32 PM Rating: Default
I don't think it will end right there, it's the "chicken or egg" type of things, there might be a king that will pop out everyone thinks it will be over
RE: Ending?
# Jan 23 2004 at 12:00 AM Rating: Default
I hope this won't be the ending. Sure, the Shadowlord is defeated, but wasn't he "defeated" at the end of the Great War? Also, what will happen to the Beastmen? They aren't going to give up simply because their leader perishes. It seems like all of Vana'diel will fall into anarchy if the one who seemed to keep it there dies...
RE: Ending?
# Jan 25 2004 at 2:51 AM Rating: Decent
It isn't the ending. You'll see, after you beat him, that when you go to Norg you find out more about the Shadow Lord (I wont give away any big spoilers) in a long cutscene. You're also introduced to the new enemies here, and you wont be disappointed.

What a fantastic mission. ^^

If you manage to get this strong, which I hope all you US release players do, I think you will enjoy this tough, very challenging mission.

The whole thing is hard, and requires intense dedication to the team and the cause. Don't give up!

Well if it isnt' Nohmaan....btw, I was gonna stop doing missions since I got the airship pass but I'm wondering if it's worth it to keep going. I'm thinking you'll prolly have to finish this mission before you can do PvP...it would make sense.

Vivere. currently lvl 34 PLD/WAR
