Talk to Abeaule at the inn in N. San d'Oria, he says a customer got sick and needs medicine, go to S. San d'Oria to the second house in Watchdog Alley and talk to Amaura, she gives you a list of things she needs to make the medicine:

  • a marlboro vine (marlboro's in Pashow)
  • one zinc ore (tunnel worms and rock eaters),
  • one insect wing (scarabs in Ronafure)

Get them and take them back to Amaura and she will give you the medicine. Return to Abeaule in N. San d'Oria and he will give you 2100gil.

    Requires Fame 3
    # Dec 21 2005 at 4:01 PM Rating: Decent
As a BLM from Windurst, I came to San d'Oria primarily to get Drain and for the Dragon (of course); so to try and be cheap, I set out to do every quest I could to ensure I had fame enough for Novalmage to take my blood. Eventually I completed the first quest given by Abuela; but for some time only got the "Favortie adventurer" message as noted by others before me. Eventually I got fed up with all the running around for one silly spell (as I hadn't even done the Bastok half of my 2/3 Mission I didn't /need/ to be in Sandy); and started trading in Batwings. Between runs to AH for 10K stacks of wings and the taker, I'd hit the inn to see if I could get this quest and trade in my (already purchased) items. Long story short, she wouldn't change her story until I hit fame 3, this was confirmed by going to the fame checker in Souther Sandy who also noted that I had (finally) advanced to Fame level 3.

As always, your mileage may vary

I did this quest as a lev 8 monk. I'm not exactly too sure how I got the quest, but I did do the bat wing quest a lot, same with the flint stones and rabbit hides. Also completed about 20+ quests.

Anyway, the stuff can be found in the AH and it came to a total (for me) to be around 700g for all the stuff. The payoff is nice. Helped me buy new armor. :)
    Rank Needed

ok my fame finialy was high enough when i hit rank 2 and not before. I completed every quest that i could before save the children but once i did that with my lvl 10 warrior it keep telling me i was not high enought so i did it with a new char and did not do any quest but the rank missions smash the orcish scout*2, bat hunt *3, and then save the children. only then did it say my fame was high enough (see fame saying an earlier posting in this thread). i got another level 10 warrior because i knew i could do the save the childern as lvl 10. all the other quest are not needed besides "the trader in the forest" which makes a grand total of 7 quest. i more then likely had to repeat the ones i did but i did it any way. hope this answer the big quest about how many quest do i have to do to open the quest? bottom line just need rank 2 to open quest.

Just a note your fame for this quest must be SAN D'ORIAN fame, not just fame for doing quests from other cities. ie. you have to do the 20+ quests in SanD.

This quest does not depend on level. Once you get ~40 fame, you'll be able to activate it. The check phrase for fame at the San'doria fame checker (Namonutice, S.SD Inn) that you need him to say is "Your deeds for the kingdom have earned you much honor."
    12 is the magic number

the marlboro vine can be found in the Alchemy section of AH

abeaule keeps saying 'you're my fav adventurer! thanks for the help again!' so i don't know what the deal is, could be you're not from that country or low fame

RE: i just got the quest
    # Apr 28 2004 at 1:57 PM Rating: Decent
I'm confused. I just did the quest where I had to retrieve the batgreens, and now when I talk to Abeaule he just tells me that I'm his favorite adventure. I'm a level 14 war with a level 2 rank what is going on? maby I'm missing something.
    i sent the quest
    # Nov 19 2003 at 12:23 PM Rating: Good
I'm the one who sent this quest to Allakhazam, i was level 14 when i got the quest and i had done about 18 quest previously. Abeaule has a quest called "The Trader In the forest" that u get before this one. Albeaule is in the phoenix Inn in N. San d' Oria, Amaura is in the second house in watchdog alley in S. San d' Oria. I did talk to Amaura before going and talking to Albeaule, i don't know if that means anything. Also if u did the first quest, when u talk to Albeaule again, try to talk to him twice in a row. I wish i could be of more help, i just know i got the quest and did it and got 2,100 gil for it. Its not repeatable, and i too bought the marlboro vine, had the zinc ore and insect wing already.
