Summary

Lumomo wants you to exterminate an ecological thread, and bring her evidence of the feat.

Walkthrough

Talk to Lumomo in Windurst Waters inside the tavern.

She will tell you go out and find someone named Ahko Mhalijikhari in the Maze of Shakhrami.

When you enter the Maze of Shakhrami, head down until you see Ahko Mhalijikhari. When you speak to her, she will spray you with a chemical that will attract the pests you need to exterminate. The "spray" includes a level restriction of 20.

Head Northeast until you get to (E-7). Next, head East to another tunnel at (H-7). The map will have changed. Head to (I-10) and you should see a ??? spot. It is recommended you kill all the mobs in the room before beginning. Once everyone is ready to begin, have one person examine the ???, keeping in mind that the person to spawn the monsters will be immediately attacked by all of them. Three Wyrmflies will spawn.

Once you have killed all three Wyrmlies, everyone doing the quest must examine the ??? to get a key item: Indigested Meat. If you died during the fight, you have to go back to Ahko Mhalijikhari and get more ointment applied in order to receive the key item from the ???.

Return to Ahko Mhalijikhari and she will remove the ointment and level restriction.

Return to Lumomo to collect your reward.

I'm sorry, that 10% is not correct. May have seemed so, but it is not. It is either random, or decreases with higher level.

I heard from a LS-mate that this quest can be done once per tally period, for the same reward of 5000g and the item that gives XP once per taly period (earth week). Not clear whether you can do all 3 Eco-quests in one week, but it seems likely you only get to do one.

I could not repeat any of the Eco Warrior Quest at first. But now that I have completed them all, I am able to get them again. In my opinion its not worth the trouble.
Completed on Leviathan
# Jan 26 2004 at 7:51 PM Rating: Decent
The OneWingedAngels completed this quest on the Leviathan Server.

Couple of notes..

1. Through experimentation, the Scroll that you get SEEMS to give you EXP based on what level you are.

My advice? Use the scroll on a SUBJOB that is lvl 4. You will get the most benefit.

A lvl 25 player got 675exp, and a lvl 20 player got 967 exp.

A lvl 23 player got something like 740exp

I'm not saying that this is the way it works, but with the raw data, it seems highly likely.

2. You can still get the meat if you die. Just be sure to have the level down spray on after you are revived, and click the ??? for your meat.

3. After characters have recieved the meat, you can remove the spray and help others who have died.

4. You can have high lvl WHM's stand-by and cure the party, thus eliminating the need for an alliance. Just make sure they are not in the party. Makes this quest VERY simple.

5. Uncle Jeb rocks!

You CANNOT have anybody outside the battle help or heal you (unless they have lvl down).

In fact if they are in the PT with you without the lvl down they will be killed by the flys and helpless to fight back.

(Got to witness this myself as a guy got slaughtered by the flys)
RE: Completed on Leviathan

You can not be healed by ne 1 that is not under the level restrict. SO having high lvl friends healing u from outside the PT is useless. they will have to be under the restrict to be able to cast ne spells on you.

People who have the spray applied can only recieve healing and other forms of support from people who also have the spray applied, unless the Eco-warrior for each city is different?
RE: Completed on Leviathan
# Jul 17 2004 at 6:21 AM Rating: Decent
I'd just like to make a few comments after viewing the posts on this quest.

1. Having a high level friend to come with you is wonderful, because they can eliminate all opposition in your path going to and from the ???. They Can NOT heal you during the time you have the level cap on, however if you die they can raise you.

2. This quest IS repeatable, assuming you've waited a Real Life week since the last time of completion.

3. For all of those of you who have sufficient fame and can't quite seem to get the quest? It's probably because you can only have the quest activated in one major city at a time. If you can't get the quest, check your quest list, to see if you have it active in Bastok or San D'Oria.

4. The main problem in this quest is the organization. If you can get an alliance of people that have mostly done this before it will take 30 min tops, including the battle. If not, well, then you'll be there all night.

5. I'm not going to suggest a party formation, basically all you need to have is a white mage in each party, the rest is up to you. The reason I say this is because unless you can get dedicated people to repeat this with you, from like your LS, your pretty much gonna have to take what you can get from random shouts in the city.

6. Lastly, IF by some horrible chance you do perish in the battle, not all is lost, if you can get a raise. Once the battle is done, and everyone has gotten the key item by touching the ??? a second time, have the alliance go back to the NPC *as a group* leaving the dead people where they lie. Once they get back to the NPC talk to him again to remove the level cap. Then assuming people in the alliance are actually over level 20, they can go back to the dead people, raise them, escort them back to the NPC. The people that died can then get the level cap once again, and be escorted by the alliance *who are NOT level capped* back to the ???, touch it, get the key item, and then the whole alliance can leave. It's a very long ardous process, but this ensures completion of the quest for everyone, which the people in the alliance should do.

Anyway ~ If you have any other questions/comments, /tell me on Leviathan.

Just some general FYI... this was done on Alexander last night with 10 people. It is important to note that after you kill the fly, you must click on the ??? with the level down effect on. We did not do this, and as a result... even though we killed the wyrmflies everyone is such a baby about... we didn't get the evidence :(
Important!!
# Dec 22 2003 at 3:22 AM Rating: Default
Very important for groups who attempt this mission, if you die, that is it. The mission is over even if your group kills the mobs. You will have to respawn the mobs and kill them all over again. Just thought I would pass this on, as I had to learn the hardway.....
RE: Important!! no...
# Jan 10 2004 at 5:38 PM Rating: Default
We just did this quest on the Rag server and about 5 people died during the battle. Wek killed the flies. We raised the dead... they went back to get the lvl down. Everyone (almost everyone) that got the item helped the others get back down there to get the item again. Once we got there all they had to do was click on the ??? and they got the evidence.

If someone was not in the alliance when you killed the flies then they try to collect the evidence... yes the flies will pop up for them.

This one was much easier the Sandoria's Eco Quest.

We had a full alliance with a lot of lvl 16-18's and some good WHM 20's. And we had people that did not act stupid and try to fight everything. Got in there and got out.
RE: Important!!
# Dec 30 2003 at 12:21 PM Rating: Default
If you die... all is not lost. I have personally witnessed a person who died and got raised by a party member who collected the evidence, then took the oil off, returned to the dead player and raised him. That raised player then ran back to the VERMIN agent. At that point the oil had worn out for the rest of the party. We were all thinking that he would respawn the flies. That person then went back to the boss room and collected the evidence. HOWEVER, when another LS mate, who wasnt in the original party, wanted to collect evidence... HE spawned the flies. SO, it seems that there is a 5-10 minute grace period after the hour is up... to collect the infested meat.

In any case, all is NOT lost if you die. Even if you die, you should still try to collect the infested meat.
Quest isn't that hard...
# Dec 18 2003 at 8:34 PM Rating: Default
yeah, um...this quest was actually quite easy. I think with 2 full groups you could EASILY do it...maybe even one group. What you need is the following:
2 level 20 Black Mages
1 Level 20 Theif with provoke (so some levels in warrior)
2 Level 20 White Mages
1 Level 20 Warrior or Monk / Warrior (with at least lvl5 warr for provoke)
The rest of your spots you can fill as you see fit.

My group and I didn't have to fight anything other than gobs to get down here...those are easy enough. The wendigo's were the hardest thing we fought...and Cure II's make these pretty easy. I ( a level 20 blm / level 10 whm) was the back up healer while the whm's blasted away at the ghouls. Once the 2 wendigo's and the ghoul that spawn were gone, the easy part began.

Take your theif and have them check the ??? rock that you use to spawn the flies. He should provoke one of the flies, and immediately activate his 2 hour (Perfect Dodge). At the same time, the two black mages should both cast sleep (each on a different fly, not the one the theif provoked). Then it becomes a matter of just the party vs 1 Fly at a time...and they're really quite easy. Just make sure the aggro stays on the tank and everything will be just dandy. I'd say a group of 10-12 people around lvl 19-20 could do this quest without much of a problem if they manage to stick to the plan. Just don't try to fight Scorpians...they can and will kick the living bejeesus out of you.

Lot of good information below. My only question is why is this quest labeled as Level 1? Should be labeled as Level 20 (with party). The only real way you can complete this quest is to have at least 10 party members over 20 and then another party of 5 who aren't taking the quests, but can kill all the mobs leading up to "???" objective and those Wrymflies. Please make the necessary Level correction on this quest. Thx

Today i did the quest with a great group of people. The ??? location is at I-10 in the maze. You need a 3 party alliance to tackle the 3 Wrymflies ONE AT a time

Each party must be balanced with at least 2 whm per group. Once you start this quest you cannot complete it for any of the other kingdoms. Don't bother recruiting high level folks to watch your back. as long as you have 3 full balanced parties in an alliance. you're set. It helps to have a ranger or a drk night, ubut it's not absolutely necessary. Dont forget your BLM. and you should be set! 5,000 gil and a page of dragon chronicles which gave anywhere from 597xp to 984xp. It seems to be tied to your level at the time you use it. The person who got 984 was lvl 25 or so. I was lvl 21 when i got 661 xp from the page. So mebbe you should hold on to it.

You must have the level down effect to collect the the requested item from ??? Once you've completed this quest, you can no longer help anyone else. YOu will not be allowed to target the mob if you dont have the lvl down effect.... which you wont get becaue you'd have already completed the quest.

Before we got to the ???, the only mobs we dealt with wer gobs, ghouls, and wendigos and 1 maze scorp (which you may or may not see). If you encounter jellies, or any other LETHAL aggressive mob, then you've went the wrong way.

I-10. that's where your party needs to be. Take a look at the maze map and you'll see it. Once you enter maze, head towards the back of the first large room. when you enter the second HUGE room, head EAST towards the back of the cave. there's 3 tunnels on your right as you travel east ward. Note that you will pass the tunnel to the north that leads to M4 mission lapis lazuli. You should be nowhere near those tunnels. Once you hit the last tunnel in the back of this large room. Head south. You'll notice 2 tougher gobs (leechers/gamblers) Once you see them, then you know you're in the right direction. get your self to I-10 and enjoy.

Ah yes... a second run was made today. I have some more info on this quest. If you die during the quest, you will no longer have the ointment on. If you can get yourself a raise and then run back to get oiled up again... and then get back to the boss' room again, then you 'll be able to pick up the infested meat with out dealing with the Wyrmflies. However, there is a time limit that appears to be longer than the hour you're given to complete the quest. When our teammate got a 2nd chance to get oiled up and then pick up meat, the lvl down effect wore off on the surviving members. However, that person was STILL able to pick up the meat without spawning a the Wyrmflies. HOWEVER, when an LS mate joined the party late during the second run, he did spawn the mob and was promptly slaughtered. We were unable to attack the Wyrmflies and the Wyrmflies never came after us.

one other correction... the quest is Repeatable. We completed it on Saturday, and I was able to get it on sunday. However, my linkshell mate completed on friday and was unable to do so again on Saturday. But was then offered the quest again on Sunday. Which tells me that the quest can be done once a week. I still need further confirmation, however

let me correct myself... by "ONE at a time" i meant... One Wyrmfly per party. All 3 Flies will attack at once. So one party should pull a mob and deal with it.
Done!

The min level crap in all these posts is ********* It's useless to give the min level needed to accept the quest. It's completely useless. Sure, I took this quest myself at about level 5. Do you think I would try to complete it at level 5? Hell no.

A better idea would have a minimum suggested level. So, for this quest, it might be 15-20 or something there abouts.
RE: min level 1?
# Dec 05 2003 at 4:45 AM Rating: Default
this quest is hard, but shouldn't be any harder than the mission6 dragon-killer.

first thing, make SURE you have a high level (50+) or decently high level party (each 30+) to escort those sprayed with the de-level effect. these people will NOT be able to do anything to help those with the effect on, but WILL be able to clear mobs on the way. anyone deleveled should not attack anything, period. unless they want to die. if a deleveled is attacked, they should call for help so that the high-levels can help.

a full alliance is highly suggested, with a good variety of jobs in each party. 1 whm per, 1 blm per, 1 tank per, and 3 others of your choice (in each party. that mean 3whm, 3blm, and 3tanks minimum. you WILL need more to kill the bosses) when you finally get to the ???, do NOT USE IT UNTIL EVERYONE IS READY!!!!!!!! (quick sidenote, there are rather powerful undead that spawn in that room). using the ??? is what makes the boss-mobs, three wyrmlings, appear. using the ??? after the boss mobs are killed gives you the indigested meat (i think) which is a key item, that you return for the 5k gil, and a rare/exclusive book page that you use to get a random amount of experience. you must live in order to be able to get the indigested meat from the ???.

as far as the poster with the 17-member alliance that got wiped...i was in it too (pretty sure, anyway. otherwise an amazing coincidince...) and the reason for the wipes was usually just ONE person being stupid.
17 member alliance
# Dec 02 2003 at 12:00 AM Rating: Decent
My link shell got together 17 people and decided to try this quest.
2 rangers, 3 thieves, 5 red mages, 1 white mage, 1 paladin, 1 warrior, 2 black mages, 2 monks.
Most of us had sub jobs that were useful to our main job. And most of us were level 20+ in our main job at the time when we tried.
First... the way to get to the ??? is described accurately in a previous post, BUT it is blocked by very high level monsters (compared to the lvl 20 limit). Our alliance easily steps on the goblins in our way, but the higher level monsters, particularly 2 jellies, several maze and labryinth scorpions, seeker bats that aggro because of the spray and assorted undead probably would have been tough. We never got that far, the 2 jellies wiped out 15/17 of our members before we even got to our objective. Later on, we recruited a lvl 64 beastmaster to assist us in getting to the ??? point. Upon safe arrival, the three wyrmflies promptly killed off our white mage within seconds of appearing and our other mages fell within a span of 10-20 seconds. The rest of us DID survive and managed to kill the flies and retrieved a key item from the ???. I think it was called decayed meat, but I'm not sure. Returning the item to Lumomo yields a quest reward of 5000 gil and a unique item. The item is a page from the Dragon Chronicles written by the late King of San d'Oria. Using the page will give an XP reward. Though I haven't figured out how the XP reward is calculated, I got 607 XP and one of the other people got over 700 XP from it.
RE: 17 member alliance
# Dec 02 2003 at 6:43 AM Rating: Excellent
The instructions were doing nice untill.

Quote:
The "spray" is a level down effect. It definitely doesn't limit any lower than 20, but can't speak as to the exact limit. The pests are found after you take the first right fork in the first room, but don't have a name for them.

The spray does lower the level to 20.

To get to the spot take a left at the first main room. If you took the left you will reach a huge room. Go all the way to the back of the room and go to your right. There will be two tough goblins (Relative to the other goblins, who may be in this path way (Goblin Leecher, and Goblin Gambler). After you dispate them rest, then continue.

In the next room to your imidate right is another tunnel. It is a dead end (So do not go into it unless you want to make sure you are going the right way). Next to the dead end tunnel is a ghoul hut. And next to the ghoul hut is another tunnel. A maze scorpion and Goblin sometimes like to block it. Kill them and enter it.

Heal up to full hp/mp because the next room is where things get interesting. The next room has ghouls/Wendigos in it. The Wendigos are level 24-28 and the Ghouls 22-26. After you clear that room at the foot of the ghoul hut (In the same room) is a "???". When you click on the "???" three Wyrmflies spawn. You do not have to live through the fight as long as they die. The first time I met the spot I was solo and died. Second time I brougt 11 others. 9 of us died but we killed all three. After we returned home and got back to the maze for round 2. When I went to trigger the spawn I got the Indigested Meat. So the others who died got it as well.

So you do not have to live as long as your group can kill them.

You get 5k gil and a Page of the Dragon Chronicles that you can use for experience between 500-1000. It seems rather random.

I hope my post offers some help. If it wasn't near 4 am I would post cordinates of the locations I spot of.

But this is my first post so rate me good please ^-^

You could solo this mission easily if you were a redmage with these spells or in a small party with redmage ;) just a hint that MIGHT work, havent tried it.

I just completed this quest as part of an alliance with a bunch of JP players.

The Level Down effect caps you at lvl20.

The beasties are the Wyrmflies, down deep in the maze. from grid F-8, go down the tunnel, past the Wendigo, and thru the tunnel a ways, you come to a Bone Hut with a ??? targettable.

Spawns 3 Wyrm Flies, kill them, then use the ??? again to get the Indigested Meat key item.

Take that back to the bloke in the bar, and get a Page of the Dragon Chronicles, and 5000gil. the page gives 699xp when used.

I had a party of 5 combing over a sizable chunk of this zone trying to follow the directions in a post and couldn't find any ??? mark to target. Closest place the directions led to was a small room with some jellys (Incredibly tough to a lv20).

If possible, can someone give a grid position of where they found it.

Ahh! What's going on!? I was level 16 when I talked to the VERMIN NPC in the Maze, I told her to spray the stuff on me, and I was brought down to level 15 with a teporary effect. I soon talked to her and removed it, but looking at my stats, I was still level 15! I had as much exp as I had when I was 16, only I am one level lower! AHHH! What's going on!?

The VERMIN NPC sprays a level down effect on you...I don't now to what level. When I did it, I was 14 and remained 14. Looks like she sprays you down to 15 at the lowest? I dunno...anyways, I don't know what you're supposed to kill. The only things that aggro are the scorpions, ghouls, and goblins. I've seen a Goblin Gambler in there as well. Maybe him? I'll probably try with a group later and post the results.

Is there anyone who has beated this yet? We're going to attempt it tonight in Bismarck and see if we can find the pests. The first right fork from the first room leads to a ghoul room... who knows... we'll see what develops.
