In-Game Text

Description

Morunaude is located in the furniture shop. You need to buy a cupboard from him and place it in your mog house. Exit and re-enter the house and talk to the Moogle. This will trigger a cut scene (assuming your fame is high enough) where your Moogle tells you he found a teacup.

Head back to the furniture shop and talk to Morunaude and Justi. They will eventually tell you about Calovour. Head to the Cathedral and talk to him, and he asks you to fetch a Mistletoe. This drops from the Walking Tree in Jugnar Forest. Get it and bring it back for a reward. Note that the reward will not cover the initial purchase of furniture.

what are you talking about fame 5, etc?
# May 12 2006 at 7:02 PM Rating: Decent
i see so many people say they have fame rank # but yet no one will answer the question of how you find out what #. all i can find is someone who says you are famous or not famous. no number or anything. is this an actual in game thing or is it on a website?

I had nothing but bookshelves, and the San d'Oria Conquest Flag.
Added Cupboard.

Did not get quest.
Removed San d'Oria Conquest Flag.

Got quest.

So you can add San d'Oria Conquest Flag to the list of things that block this quest. Although I have no idea what quest might be related to the San d'Oria Conquest Flag.

someone said to remove any furniture that might have a quest related to it to trigger this particular quest. I tried everything, and finally when I removed the painting Ancient Blood it triggered the cut scene with the moogle...
what I'm curious about is that the painting doesn't trigger any quest that I can find... so why would THAT one item be the one that blocked me from opening this particular quest?
Ancient Blood quest?
# Dec 31 2008 at 12:58 AM Rating: Decent
The ancient blood painting is given for a windy quest. You have to pose for a painting and this painting and Anjelica's autograph are your reward. So it's linked to a quest but not a quest starter.
Fame Required
# Feb 19 2006 at 4:42 PM Rating: Decent
I got this quest with lvl 4 Fame. So as long as you're fame is above this and you have the cupboard in your moghouse you'll get the quest
This explains a lot.
# Feb 11 2006 at 6:00 AM Rating: Excellent
When talking to Calovour about the teacup; He mentions how he has fond memories of brewing misteltoe tea for Her Majesty and her newborns.

Misteltoe is a poison! No wonder the ruling family of Sandoria is such a mental asylum!

Well, I was able to get this quest after I completed the Moogles in the Wild quest (Mog Safe Expansion #3), so whatever fame that requires is sufficient... although, I'm not sure if it's the minimum amount of fame you need.

********READ THIS.********
Do not spend hours wondering why you can't get this quest!

I was confused, because I had level 8 fame in San d'Oria, I'd had the cupboard in my mog house for 2 days, all mog safe quests had been completed and I was checking my HOME mog house over and over. I'd gotten nothing.

After realizing I had several pieces of furniture ALSO in my mog house that activated quests (Bureau [Protectra IV], My First Magic Kit [Ducal Hospitality, which I can't even GET yet], Stationery Set [Scop's Operetta], AND the Cupboard), I REMOVED every quest-starting piece of furniture except the Cupboard, left, and came back. GOT THE QUEST. So if everything else seems to be failing, go over the furniture you actually have placed in your mog house and REMOVE anything that starts any quest that you have NOT completed. If it started a quest before which you have completed and it's still in your mog house, it will NOT affect your getting this quest.

I REPEAT: THERE IS NO NEED TO WAIT FOR A CONQUEST ROLLOVER OR DAY CHANGE. You will get the quest immediately as long as you meet whatever fame requirement (so far the count is level 5) and do not have any other quest-requiring items PLACED in your mog house! As long as you have no current moogle quests STARTED and no other items are placed, the quest should start.

x.o.

Strikes me as though if you sell the cabinet back after you complete the quest, you actually would make money on the quest. It just takes an initial investment, which is refunded at the end of the quest. The only net cost (barring cabinet cost fluctuations) would be the cost of reposting the cabinet on the AH.

Depending on the current piece of funiture, you can get from 0-4 extra storage spaces.
+4 i think is from the Super cabnit thing, which has +5 storage, but when its in your mog house, -1. Duh ;)

i dont know how much help this will be, 15k for the cupboard. 12k reward. net loss of 3k if u get mistletoe. i bought the cupboard put it in MH stepped out and stepped in but notghing happened. waiting til Vandiel clock went back to 00:00 (actually it was closer to 1:00) but i went into MH again and got teacup. im currently rank 5, so at least at rank 5 u can do it, i dont know how much lower rank u can be.
RE: Some more answers to this quest

Rank Has nothing to do with it. You do need Fame in sandy, and if you have fame in sandy and get the cupboard placed in your layout and you do not get cutscene you must wait til the next conquest update for moogle to populate a cutscene for quest. Furthermore if there is a moogle quest already in the works such as (mog kind master- mog house upgrades) you may have to wait an additional week for the cutscene.

However, when I trade it to him, nothing happens. He won't accept it from me, why?

I just did this today. I saw the walking tree and jumped off my bird. Killed it and got the misletoe. I went to the furniture shop and bought the cupboard and placed it in my room.

I then left and came back immediately to the mog house and the moogle sent me back to the store. I went to the store, then cathedral, talked, gave him the mistletoe and he then game me the 12k. The cupboard cost me 15k so its a 3k loss, not so bad really.

Now my room doesn't look so empty.

I do believe that it takes lvl 5 Sandoria fame in order for this quest to activate. I had this cupboard for approximately a month before I could get it to activate.

I had the cupboard and lvl 7 fame in Windy but still no go.... so I raised my fame in Sandy tonight from 4 to 5 and my moogle finally told me about the teacup.

Finally, I'll get some of my money back from the quest. :)

i just did this quest and got 12000 gil reward
i see some people say they get 7500??

im rank5 Windurstian

im thinking maybe if you arent from Sandoria it gives you more money since its amuch bigger pain in the butt to do this quest if you arent from sandoria

another note is that ive never seen the Walking Tree drop this. But the Treant in Batallia Downs has dropped me tons of them. To get to the treant you need to go
Sandoria >> east ronafore>> rangemounte pass>> beadicine Glacier >> battalia downs and stay on the level it puts you at, dont drop down the cliff or else you have to go all the way back around. As a DRK50/THF25 this mob was pretty tough even though it was Too Weak to be Worthwhile.

I am a rank 3 Sandorian and I got 12000 gil from this quest. It sounds like a lot, but it cost me almost 15k to buy the cupboard in the first place.

I'm sure people say the reward is 7500 gil because that's what it says in the Spring 2004 Brady guide.

What would happen if you had a friend who had the cupboard, and you let him borrow it to do this quest? Would you still get the teacup? That way, you could KEEP the entire reward... And could get him to pay you back out of that for the cupboard... Just a thought. Lemme know if anyone tries this, I just dont have the gil to try it myself :P

The cupboard is the easiest way to get the "Moghancement: Fire" which is useful if you are crafting expensive recipes with fire crystals. I bought it for this reason, and this quest is a bonus to me.

HOW DID I MESS THIS ONE UP!?
# Apr 25 2004 at 11:37 PM Rating: Decent
Ok wait a sec... not that it matters but my level is 18, and my fame is "your deeds do this Kingdom great honor" or something like that.

I bought the cupboard for about 17k :\ hoping to get the quest. I do as everyone says... place it in mog house, leave, return and the Moogle says nothing. So Im short 17k but at least i have a +2STG, woohoo.

Anyone have this problem???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You haven't messed anything up, don't worry.

You simply need to wait until after the next weekly update, which occurs on each Sunday. Keep in mind that all times are Japan based, and that Japan is 17 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time, not observing daylight savings time. After the update you will get your teacup and can do everything else just fine.

Also, I recommend getting the Mistletoe some time beforehand, so that you don't have to do it with the gil so close in your grasp. (Unless you want to roleplay like you didn't know how to do the quest already.)

This may not be very helpful by now to you in particular, BrZrKr, but to anyone else, it could be, my apologies.

You don't have to wait for a weekly update. Just have to let it go 1 Vanadiel day first. So if you "plant" the Cupboard at 23.59 and just come back in at 00.01 (I know no1 has that fast connection) you are fine.
Hmm...

Cost of Cupboard on Pandemonium while 1st in conquest - 16k
Price of Mistletoe if you arent high enough to kill a Walking Treant - 4500
Reward - 7500
Net Loss - 13000 :(
RE: Was it really worth it....
# Aug 06 2004 at 11:30 PM Rating: Good
Actually, the quest gives you 12k gil. Most guides and most people seem to say that you get 7.5k. But have the people who say that actually done the quest? I doubt it, seeing as how they don't want to spend all that money just so they could lose that much.

I did this quest recently, I recieved 12k despite what the strategy guides and such say.

Hard to believe a strategy guide when it said I recieve only 440 gil for a mhuara quest, when I recieved 2100 gil for it. (the rycharde quest, bring him a puffball)

Anyway, that's my story. I don't know if I'm right, maybe the gil does vary. All I know is that I got 12k, and a few friends of mine got 12k for it.
RE: Was it really worth it....
# Apr 22 2004 at 12:57 PM Rating: Default
You can alway sell the cupboard after the quest and get close to 16k back. This would give you a net profit of 3k, which isn't too bad.
