In-Game Text

Description

The Mayor of Selbina, Abelard, wants you to find stone monuments left by a certain adventurer and copy their writings to clay. He gives you a lump of selbina clay.

How the quest works

When you talk to Abelard, he gives you a piece of clay and you are requested to bring imprints of stone monuments from around Vana'diel. These are found in all the outdoor areas, not in dungeons. Trade the clay to the monument to get an imprint, take the imprint back to Abelard and repeat for the other monuments. There are 17 monuments in total. You will receive money for each of them depending on the difficulty, and once you have done 15, you automatically receive a map for Crawlers Nest. After you get the map, you can receive the clay again for the next monument. But since you are likely to want the Crawlers Nest map before you are a high enough level to get the last two imprints (from Battallia and Sauromugue), I recommend this strategy.

The Monuments

The stone monuments are listed in chronological order:

1- South Gustaberg K10 - 800gil

"I have been traveling on the seas for close to 40 years now... But there is so much that I do not yet know about the world. People seek refuge in the towns and villages, away from the battered environment outside, interested only in what concerns them directly. To know that one is still alive, means you are still safe and living in bliss. As for myself, I have decided to devote the remaining years of my life to exploration, traveling across the continents, filling my insatiable appetite for curiosity. The world of Vana'diel is so large, how can anyone not be driven to understand more about the world that we live in?

This first engraving marks the start of my trail, leaving behind my beloved hometown of Bastok, I can only see the distant hills popping over the horizon. I wonder how many of us will stop and take a look at this engraving for generations to come. But I wish they would go forth and fulfill whatever desires and hopes they have been keeping in their hearts."

C.E. 748 Gwinheim Ironheart

2- North Gustaberg -3000 gil Head northeast of Dangruf Wadi to the stream of the waterfall. The monument lies in the cave behind the falls - 3000gil

"At the top of this mountain stands the pride of the Republic of Bastok - Palborough Mines. It seems there are plans to build a memorial to commemorate the pioneers who opened and worked on the mines there. At the time of my visit, they were still preparing the stonework for the construction. And surrounding the memorial site were tombstones... some unmarked and nameless after years of exposure to the weather. The strange thing is, our history books didn't mention much about these pioneers, and these tombs might be interesting enough to investigate them.

Perhaps it stretches back to a time when Bastok was still a poor backwater village built on a cliff, until the present day when construction of the Metalwork's was completed. But one day, a mysterious explosion accident within the mines claimed many of the Galkan miners' lives while at work. When news spread, the world was divided as to whether the Galkans who perished on the job should be considered as heroes.

But one fact remains, they are the true pioneers who opened the path of prosperity of this wasteland. And the remains buried underneath the tombs are truly the heroes, at least in my heart. As a tribute to these nameless workers, I shall rest here for the night and drink the night away."

C.E. 749 Gwinheim Ironheart

3- Konschtat Highlands G7 - 1000gil

"The strong Odin Wind blows often over the highlands. The traveling Bastokian merchants were clever enough to take notice of the raging winds and built these windmills to harness its power. The purpose was clear: flour milling. Bastok is the biggest cotton producer in the world. But to feed the hungry nation, wheat from San d'Oria is a necessity that cannot be ignored too. San d'Oria has a huge surplus of wheat. Bastok then buys over the wheat from San d'Oria at a low price, processes them in these mills and in turn, sell the flour as a trade commodity. And the link to this trade relation between San d'Oria and Bastok lies in these windmills! Interestingly, even when 2 countries are faced in a war, both sides can be embroiled in a conflict for ages but no matter what, there is surely a time when a battle has to stop for soldiers to sit down and have some freshly baked bread.

Cheers to the merchants!"

C.E. 750 Gwinheim Ironheart

4- East Ronfaure G11 - 800gil

"The Ronfaure forest where I am standing, had been the royal hunting grounds for the Elvaan Royalty for generations, and its beauty has been more or less preserved from ancient times. Those who are brave would flock down to the annual Autumn Hunting Festival in this forest, pitting their skills against each other for the best game. Alas, though the event was grand, I was pretty bored of it. One of the reasons is the game animals available. In the past, people used to hunt pheasants and deer's here, but ever since their extinction, they have been replaced by Wild Sheep and Rams. It's so obvious what one can possibly hunt here, there is no sense of accomplishment anymore. Furthermore, these sheep have a voracious appetite and grazed constantly on the grass and the roots of trees. Ultimately, the fabric of the ecology of the forest will be at stake. If that ever happens, I hope that this engraving of my thoughts of the beauty of the forest can still be read by our descendents."

C.E. 751 Gwinheim Ironheart

5- Jugner Forest H12, 2 tigers guard the cave to the stone - 1000gil

"Trekking through the dark and gloomy foliage in the afternoon, my hungry pet bird, Molten, suddenly started pecking on the soil beneath us and dug up a funguar. Although this funguar Molten found was a common species, it kind of reminded me of the rumored existence of the legendary 'King Truffle'. Using Molten's keen sense of smell, I managed to find more funguars along the way. Looks like tonight's menu is going to be Funguar Stew. Lost in the forest for what seems like an eternity, finding such funguars is such a blessing to us hungry travelers. And they can save you too! Of course, you do have to remember to feed your pet chocobo first...."

C.E. 755 Gwinheim Ironheart

6- Rolandberry Fields K11, Beware of Evil Weapons - 3000gil

"The warm and soothing Garuda Wind whistles across the fields. This whole area is occupied by the orchards where the popular Rolandberries are cultivated and grown. The fruit has a crunchy texture like apples, with a tart taste but just a tint of sweetness. It leaves behind a very unique aroma in your mouth and makes a refreshing end to a meal. The exotic fruit also manage to attract even the mainly-carnivorous Arcanas. Recently, to protect the orchards from the nocturnal Goblin bandits and the Yagudos, extra security and patrols have been tightened. Not only is the fruit valuable, but what lies inside is also valuable. Beetle grubs live inside the seeds of the fruit, and the mucus they secrete ferments the fruit, making its taste even more tart than it originally was. Connoisseurs around the world would pay a high price for a taste of a fermented Rolandberry. Harvesting these fruits and exporting them around the world, this was how the once-tiny village of Jeuno grew and prospered to become the Grand Duchy it is today."

C.E. 757 Gwinheim Ironheart

7- Battalia Downs Battalia Island to the south - 10,000gil

"There are many tomb mounds here in Battalia. According to legends, our first ancestors, who were created by the goddess Altana, first set foot on Vana'diel right here, in Battalia. A long time ago, when the Elvaans were nearing their end, they would travel here as a final resting place for them. As a symbol of wanting to get closer to God, countless other races came from distant lands, embarking on long pilgrimages to come here. To have such a strong religious faith is commendable. However, I have a different view. First and foremost, I would enjoy life as much as possible, respecting others' ways of life at the same time. Religion... well, that can be secondary. Life is short, you don't really have that much free time to think too much into things. I know I would be laughed at by my Galkan friends if I told them that...

However, there will still be people who believe in their faiths for a long time to come. Similarly there will also be people who are feeling lost with their lives seeking for a purpose."

C.E. 759 Qwinheim Ironheart

8- West Ronfaure I10 - 800gil

"It's been 10 years since I last stepped on this land. The Orcs who have been dwelling far up north have started to show some signs of activity, and that worries me a lot. This kingdom's very fabric of livelihood and pride lies in this forest. But the Elvaans are a race that are very proud of their own culture and treat the others as crude lower-class barbarians. They think the power of the Orcs is too insignificant and is no match against their chivalry. But, let this old man prophesize, that one day in the near future, tens of thousands... no... hundreds of thousands of Orc soldiers will invade the forest and take over this lush and beautiful environment. Though it is wishful thinking on my part, I hope someone who is kind enough to take time to read my plea on this engraving, would take heed of my warning."

C.E. 761 Gwinheim Ironheart

9- Valkurm Dunes E9 - 1000gil

"The view may be beautiful, but the broken grass at our feet is testimony to the inhospitality of this place. The shallows repel anchoring ships, with nothing for miles but sand. Indeed, these dunes are ill-fit for any purpose save sunbathing. One day I happened upon a young swimmer struggling for air. I swam out to save her, and as a gesture of thanks she led me to a fascinating place. To a small inlet she guided me, to show me the dolphins, no doubt. None were there, but I noticed the bay was a natural harbor. I was a sailor in youth, so I knew this to be an important discovery! The harbor I named "Selbina." Upon seeing her name inscribed on my map, the girl clapped her hands in joy.

--Gwynham Ironheart, 762 Crystal Era."

10- Pashow Marshlands F6 - 1000gil

"This marsh that I'm standing on, has been the domain of one of the Arcanas known as Quadavs for centuries. Many explorers who have tried coming here never returned. But in order for me to complete mapping out this region, it is a dangerous sacrifice I am willing to take for the better of the future generation. Although the risks are high, as I filled in each square on my empty map, the sense of accomplishment kept me going. In the midst of my exploration though, I was caught by the Quadavs when I absent-mindedly lit up a torch. I was taken to their village and found that their houses were made of various precious metals, as a tribute to their own gods. Initially the Quadavs thought of us as a barbaric race when they saw me lighting a crude reed torch with Tarutaru fire magic. But after I taught them the intricate skills of blacksmithing and metallurgy, they were grateful for this unexpected lesson. Seeing that this skill is invaluable to them, the Quadavs set me free and even escorted me on a tour around the marsh."

C.E. 763 Gwinheim Ironheart

NOTE: The one in Pashow is sometimes guarded by a Malboro.

11- La Theine Plateau J7, Go down the gorge at H7 and follow the cave roads to the monument - 1000gil

"This plateau is a land of many features, but by far the most memorable is the Crag of Holla.

I call it a structure, for I have no other word. It is surely not a rock born of nature, nor does it seem to be a hall built by the gods, as the priestly scholars say.

Yet there are no seams in its bone-white surface, and it is faintly warm to the touch. But through a fortunate accident, I have found proof of its artificial origins.

I shall head north to the land of Valdeaunia to verify my findings. I ear this may be the longest, most perious journey of my life.

I leave my daughter Enid to find her own path.

May the gods watch over her in my stead."

C.E. 764 Gwinheim Ironheart

12- Sauromugue Champaign I9, Accessible by going thru Garlaige - 10,000gil

"We live on 2 main continents: Quon Continent and the uncharted Mindelcia Continent. Linking these 2 continents are the Straits of Jueno, also the narrowest straits in Vana'diel. Beyond the straits lies Sauromugue, the Gateway to Mindelcia. At the peak of the San d'Orian Empire, it once occupied this land with a castle built for the Royal Cavalry. But on one night, 3 Tarutaru mages infiltrated the castle, turning the chocobos wild and defeated the Cavalry royally. And that was how San d'Oria lost its hold on this land. This is the well-known 'Fall of Sauromugue' incident. However, the military schools in San d'Oria never included this in their history books. Since I'm here on these historically notorious grounds, I couldn't help but look around this blood-spilled lands. But what's past has passed...

There's not much use harping on about the past, nothing will be accomplished. I personally hope to build good ties with the Tarutarus and Yagudos. Who knows, one day a bridge may be built to link the continents together in the future."

C.E. 770 Enid Ironheart

13- Meriphataud Mountains J10 - 1000gil

"Doragora's Spine: Tarutaru for "Spine of the Heavenly Dragon." It is made of that same white material as the holy crags. However, this is the first I have seen so exposed. A good portion of it is suspended in open space, no less. In San d'Oria the papsque claims that they were monuments built by Altana in honor of the Elvaan. All believed him but I feel that this cannot be true. This is merely conjecture, but I feel they resemble some sort of road or pipeline... But carrying what? If only I could show my father. The white crags, spines, points and lines... What did my father discover at the end of his journey? I wish I knew."

C.E. 773 Enid Ironheart

14- Tahrongi Canyon E5 - 1000gil

"If you take a look at Tahrongi itself, it is an inhospitable place to be in: undulating terrain, harsh weather, and not forgetting the monsters that dwell here! But what pains me more than all of the above, is to be struck down with heatstroke. Before I embarked on my journey on this continent of Mindelcia, I thought I had enough traveling experience to handle most difficulties. And yet, I have no idea how to deal with a heatstroke. Not even White Magic helps...

As the high temperature sapped my energy away little by little, I struggled to look for a safe and shady spot to rest, but there were none to be found. At that very moment, I looked up and saw a white object in the distance... it was the fossil remains of an ancient dragon! And nearby, I found a cave by the side of the canyon wall. I learnt that I can replenish some fluids by picking the cacti that grow around the cave, and rested inside this cave until I was well again.

I am grateful that I'd chanced upon some kind men who taught me survival skills in this arid desert and so I engraved their names below in honor of them. For the three brothers who perished later under a heat wave: Gilbo, Maji and Naville - I salute you."

C.E. 774 Enid Ironheart

15- West Sarutabaruta G9 - 800gil

"Now, five years after I first crossed the Jeuno Straits and began my slow southland survey of Mindartia, I have arrived at the southernmost land: the plains of Sarutabaruta. The Tarutaru who live here are a kind and friendly people; it is hard to believe their ancestors plotted the conquest of the world during the age of great magic. They too worship the Goddess Altana, yet they believe that she has a form here on Vana'diel called the Star Sibyl, who lives in a giant tree. I met the Star Sibyl, and she took my hand and spoke to me of everything from the current state of our world to the unseeable future. It was a wonderful experience. The Tarutaru have agreed to give me a magical ship to speed the rest of my Survey. I thank the Star Sibyl and her kind people."

C.E. 777 Enid Ironheart

16- East Sarutabaruta K6 - 800gil

"In the land of Sarutabaruta, comparing the cute little Tarutarus and the innocent romantic Mithras to others, no other civilizations in other parts of the world have as long a technological history as them. Take for example, the Horutoto Ruin towers that can be found nearby. Although the towers seemed to be found only within Sarutabaruta itself, deep below, the hidden parts can spread out far beyond the domain. I remember the last letter that I received from my father, Gwinheim, he drew a sketch of a tower with a caption under it that says 'Tower that looks like a Palm'. But the catch is, he found that tower in Baldonia, the northern lands of Quon Continent! From a distance, these Horutoto Towers bear a striking resemblance though.

This shows that the widespread ring of influence of an advanced culture existed in Vana'diel long ago, and I think that influence is still lingering on until this very day. Or am I just thinking too much?"

C.E. 778 Enid Ironheart

17- Buburimu Peninsula J5 - 1000gil

"I am now at a place called Buburimu Peninsula. There is a lighthouse situated south of the Peninsula which the Tarutarus call 'Kibubu Lighthouse'. Names aside, the lighthouse has been very useful in guiding merchant ships and fishing boats that pass the peninsula. Made of natural magical rocks found only in this area, the lighthouse is made simply by stacking these rocks into a form of a tower. At night, the stones emit an eerie glow piercing through the darkness. I wonder what kind of rock it could be?

I do have my own theory. Long ago, this area was said to be filled with ores and minerals. And among them is the mythical Orihalcon ore. Centuries passed and the minerals eroded the surrounding rocks and got combined together as the minerals seeped into the rocks. So all that's left to do is for a Tarutaru to cast magic on them and a lighthouse stone is created! But there are more questions that surfaced - why are these ores only present in this region?"

C.E. 778 Enid Ironheart

NOTE: If you choose to continue, you get two more pieces of clay for on of the last two monuments, and you recieve a Map of Crawler's Nest.

The text listed for these monuments doesn't seem to be accurate. Here's about half of the Jugner text I got:

"As we pierced the gloom of Jugner Forest, my deer steed (and renowned gourmand) Morten pecked at the ground, unearthing a fine mushroom.
Quieting the uneasy Morten, I examined the mushroom, and found that it was none other than a King Truffle, a prized ingredient I had thought to be only a legend."

Unfortunately at this point I got jumped by the tigers and quickly slaughtered, and didn't think to scroll through the rest of the text before hitting cancel. I'll have to go back to read the rest. But it's obvious that while that bears some relation to the text written up there, it's not the same.

Maybe the text up there is translated from Japanese? Or maybe there's multiple texts?

East Sarutabaruta monument:

It is clear from my research that, in addition to the endearing Tarutaru and the unsophisticated Mithra, a third race once lived here on the plains of Sarutabaruta.
The ancient towers that the Tarutaru call the "Horutoto Ruins" look to have been made for people their size, but there are peculiar differences in design and style.
Indeed, they closely resemble the "Tower Like a Hand" in a sketch my father Gwynham once sent me.
Yet the tower he saw was in Valdeaunia in the north of Quon, a great distance from its counterparts here. Clearly, an advanced civilization once covered this world.
I believe I can still hear its echoes in Vana'diel today, or perhaps it is just my imagination running wild.
--Enid Ironheart, 777 Crystal Era.

And that's it - I now have all the tablets (except the really hard-to-get two.) Unfortunately I didn't start writing these down until more than halfway through, so if someone else wants to cover the ones I haven't done, they're welcome to.

Tahrongi Canyon monument:

My survery has run into difficulty here in Tahrongi Canyon.
I have had to deal with irregular land, a harsh clime, monsters, and, worst of all, fever.
I thought myself prepared before I ventured into Mindartia, but that did not spare me the fever. Even white magic did nothing.
With faltering steps, I sought shelter from the sun, but there was little shade in sight. Then, it appeared before me: the sun-bleached skeleton of an ancient wyrm.
I approached, and found this cave. I soon discovered that the water from a nearby cactus helped reduce my fever. As I recovered, I decided to name my saviors.
In memory of my old friends, Gilbo, Madge, and Navil: victims of a heat wave that struck in the midst of a brotherly quarrel.

Rolanberry Fields monument:

Here where the warm Garuda winds blow, rolanberries are cultivated in great orchards.
These berries are famous for their sharp, tingling tartness. And it's not just the Galka who appreciate a rolanberry pie to cleanse the palate after a meal.
These humble berries also warm the hearts of carnivorous beastmen, and guards have been posted against Goblin thieves and Yagudo raiders.
The most valuable berries are stockpiled by insects, who use a special secretion to store them. This results in an exceptionally tart preserve, popular with connoisseurs.
The village of Jeuno has benefited greatly from the harvests here, and the bounty of the sea. They seem well on their way to statehood.

This one could stand a little clarification:

It's a long trek on foot, so a chocobo will help. You can ride all the way to the monument.

Head for the ravine just north of the Ephemere lake. Between the lake and the ravine is a path leading down into the ravine (north central H-7).

At the bottom head to the far (east) end and into a cave. If your chocobo won't go, you're at the wrong end in the wrong cave.

Exit into a second ravine, and head again to the far end and into another cave.

This leads into the third ravine, where you once again head to the far end, and there, in the middle of J-7, is the monument.

Canyon - it's at the location, in a cave at "ground" level...

La Theine, you enter the 3 "slices" in the terrain where it says, and go through 2 tunnels all the way to the end to get the monument

I went to do this one and kept waiting at the wall for some kind of door to open and finally saw a mob just walk up the hillside on the left side and go right over the wall. I followed him and the monument is towards the back in the middle, you can't miss it. There is a gobue farmer running around back there also.

I just did this clay last night and wanted to let everyone know how I did it (this is more or less a duplicate post, but wanted to reiterate the information to everyone).

I waited around for awhile to see if anyone would hit the switch for me, but I had no luck after about 30 minutes or more so I called in some LS support. I am only a 35 Red Mage, so I had to keep sneak on 3 of us and I dropped off 2 of them at Titan's door (which is point 4 on the map). They had silent oil and prism powder for this next part.

I then went to the large room to the East of points 2&4. There is an outcove to the left (which contains Azer a bomb type mob). I reapplied invisible and walked right by him (make sure you are far enough away due to the aggro on Sight/Magic). I dropped invisible, hit the switch(East Plate), waited for the other two to walk in the door, hit the switch again and reapplied invisible (I positioned myself as far away from Azer as posssible). The other two ended up in the room marked D on the map. They did the same method for the South Plate (let me through Titan's door and then closed it behind me). There is an Azer located near the South Plate as well (so watch out for him too!)

After you get everyone together in the room marked D drop into the VERY center of the room. You should drop more or less on top of two Skeleton type mobs (make sure Sneak is up). From there just follow the path until you reach Batallia Downs (one person having a map is very helpful for this 3k in Lower Jeuno).

I also suggest a Scroll of Warp to get off the Island. I heard a NM spawns there but I did not see him on my trip to the Island.

The map I am refering to is here: Link To Map - http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=65

To elaborate juat a little, since this one took me forever to find, the monument is in the corner of one of the wall segments (there are four or five in I-10). It is the one that pretty much borders I-10 and H-10; I did not look there at first because I thought it was too far to the West of I-10. The wall segment is North-West of the NPC in the fort, not due North.

It is indeed I-10 it's just north of the structure with the npc in it (forget the name). Look for a wall and it will be tucked into part of that wall on the north side of it.

you can do this with 2 people: one works the lever, one runs through the gate (Titans?) past all the ghouls into the room to drop in the middle. make sure you find the right exit. there is a path that drops off into a crypt that leads to an exit into the mainland rather than the island.

I've never done this quest before but it seems like a good way to make money. My question is, can you get all of the imprints from the tablets at once, or do you need to return after every errand you run for the Mayor? Thanks for any answers.

You need to return to the mayor after each imprint. The item goes from a lump of clay to a clay tablet (or something like that.) So the return part is necessary, but still a great way to make money. Always have the clay with you and if you're in an area, just get the imprint!
Sauramogue Monument

*NOTE* The Sauramogue monument gets you a reward of 10k gil, not 6k. I did it earlier today while searching for PLD af coffer in Garlaige Citadel.

How to get there:

Need at least 4 people to open the banishing gates inside Garlaige.

Head into the entrance and proceed to banishing gate 1ocated at I-9. Head through the gate then proceed to Banishing gate 3 located at H-6. Head through the gate then hit the zone at I-5 out to Sauramogue. Head northwest a ways and youll find the stone monument.

A few things to remember:

- Bats aggro sound
- The flesh things aggro sound and low HP
- Bombs aggro sight AND magic
- Undead aggro sound and low HP
- Beetles aggro sight
- Slimes aggro sound
- Dromas aggro magic only(just dont cast around them and youll be safe)

Heres and easy walkthrough that will get you through with little trouble assuming you are at or around lvl 50.

After proceeding through banishing gate 1, everyone will need sneak. Quickly make your way to the small hallway\cooridor at I-8 right before the bomb room(bombs are called explosures). Kill the bats in that hallway(fairly easy, just watch out for lame jet stream spam).

After you take out the bats youre safe there for a few, rest then cast inviso only. Quickly make it passed the 2 bomb rooms to H-7, there will be some more bats there and youll be at the foot of some stairs. Once again take out the bats but dont get too close to the Fetid Flesh or it will aggro.

Again rest after bats gone then everyone will need sneak AND inviso to open gate 3.

The 4 switches are located in side rooms after the banishing gate. First room on the right and left and 4th rooms on the right and left. In order to get to the 4th room on the right you have to go through the 4th room on the left and walk around. Also, each switch room has something in it, bomb, dromas(magic pots), undead etc. Thats why you need sneak and inviso.

Everyone stand on a switch, youll get the message gate starts to open, run through gate. After this i suggest either making a dash for zone or find a spot to refresh sneak and inviso asap.

Sorry for the long post, I hope this helps.

Ok. U don;t need to finish all of them to get the Crawlers nest map. U can do all of them except Batallia and Sauro and get the map.

Batallia and Sauro are bonuses worth 10k each. They are both very difficult.... I know.. died 8 times doing them both. I got the map before i completed those 2. I recommend some planning and maps are almost essential for the latter two. GL.. what a pain in the a$$.

Don't have to do Sauromugue or Batallia?

That's really helpful to know. I want the map for the crawlers nest before I wind up going there to level (I like being able to find where everything is).

I was checking some offline maps and I think there are at least three new monuments. One at Cape Terriggan, one at Yuhtunga Jungle and one at the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah. For the Jungle one, you have to go through Ifrit's Cauldron to get to. Not sure what the rewards are.

Edited: Nevermind. They are for Zilart Mission.. BLAH!

I've tried 2 times with a friend to do this one (15 are already done need Sauromugue too).

1st - Went inside Eldieme without knowing at all what u had to do lol we were blocked between the 2 doors waiting for someone to open to us, i got warp, sneak invis but my friend no so i stayed with him to cast sneak again and again. We finally decided to leave the place when the door was finally opened.
2nd - I got explaination on how to get to the monument, so i told my friend to go south and wait i open the door, he did i went in the West room was really afraid of Ka's went inside the room, activated the switch. My friend told me it was ok but he didnt know what to do inside the room ... ouch i went out of the little switch room and get aggroed by the bomb i was only 35 so it killed me in 3 times lol. My friend was lost and make a mistake on the way so he died too.

I will try this one later now i know the place and what to do (i guess) if someone is interested of this monument i am on Fairy.

Tell Darwiz i will be happy to help if possible :).

After doing the first 15 i received the title of Fool's Errand Runner, maybe after 16 and 17 you get another title, but who knows. I believe fame is accumulated for each step of this quest, and not at the end. I was able to get Gobbie bag number 3 after this but i wasn't able to before.

Hm, I think the text for a lot of the monuments has changed. I, personally, take offense to mithra now being called "unsophisticated" in lieu of "romantic" in East Sarutabaruta...

LOCATION OF EVERY MONUMENT
# Jun 09 2004 at 5:24 AM Rating: Excellent
ok the information is ok... but i dont really need to know what the fricken monuments say just where there located. you dont have to do the 2 10,000 gil monuments to get the map of the crawlers nest. but if you do all 17 you get
38,000gil and a **** load of fame
(that number is just the individual monuments added togeather)
South gustaburg- 800gil

near the lighthouse just SW of it on a little ledge

North gustaburg - 3000gil
underneeth the waterfall. to get there you have to go through dangruf wadi to the NE corner of the map there is a guiser there that will trake u to a path that leads to the waterfall. when u get to that canyon take the first bridge across and follow the path all the way to the cave uner the waterfall. if your smard you will also get the quest from black mud in bastok mines he gives you a canteen that you need to fill up at the base of that waterfall. that quest is worth 3k i beleave.

Konschtat Highlands - 1000gil

in between the N gustaburg zone and the dunes zone there is a single mountan in the middle of the highlands there is a cave on the east side of that mountan thats where the monument is

east ronfaure - 800gil
near king ranaptures tomb entrence

Jugner Forest - 1000gil
if your headin to davoi (middle south end of the zone) it kinda splits into 2 patths take the east path following the river and theres another cave there near the end of the river look out for tigers that like to camp on top of the monument

Rolandberry Fields - 3000gil
SE corner of map in a little alcove u have to cross one of those big bone things with wepons campin it to get through

Battalia Downs - 10,000
see earler thread for instructions on how to get this one

West Ronfaure - 800gil
umm i forgot... i think its at the SE corner of the map near the river

Valkurm Dunes - 1000gil
Whitebone sands tunnel

Pashow Marshlands - 1000gil
west wall about the middle of the map

La Theine Plateau - 1000gil
take the path leading down into the ravines the same on u take to do the 2nd part of the paly quest and follow the stupid caves untill you have made a hudge circle around la thine and the monument will be waiting for you at the end

Sauromugue Champaign - 10,000gil
see earler thread for instructions on how to get this one

Meriphataud Mountains - 1000gil
SE corner of map near a break in the ground

Tahrongi Canyon - 1000gil
just SW of the Meriphataud Mountains zone in a cave as usual

West Sarutabaruta - 800gil
middle West side of the zone on top of a ledge. to get on top of that ledge u need to go north just west of the outpost

East Sarutabaruta - 800gil
near the Tahrongi Canyon zone by the river on the NE corner of the map

Buburimu Peninsula - 1000gil
Right next to the ocean on the NE corner of the map
