Christmas N00BS in Khazham

LOL yeah.. it seems like there are more NEWBS than experienced people in Khazham... people are level 30-35 and they still cant pull worth a damn and they nuke the wrong monster, causing some group members to die and level down. And they make us look bad to the Japanese players.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 20 2004 at 7:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I know this is off topic but does anyone know when PvP is coming out! Any general time is alright. People in my linkshell are saying around March but I want some clarification. So someone please post a message to this. I would like to know so if its close I can start power lvling. Thanks and good luck with the keys.
The Christmas Noob Attack

I agree with carp about the amount of noobs who got the game, but I like helping then out. It's always good to give others the help you recieved not only to make new friends in game but to see the joy of a little taru do panic. Anyways isn't this about the quest. I suggest getting a party of 6 and hunting the beasts quicker. The more people the easier the quest is I believe. Hope this info helps you out.

beacuse of this, kazham is now being flooded by christmas noobs, and people who played the game with advanced classes are now suffering because of basic knowledge, or lack thereof. Tanks dont know what they are doing, players suck, and too many exp deaths now because of christmas noobs not knowing how to pull either... thanks alla

So you are calling them "christmas newbs" as opposed to being what, a release day newb turned into the all-knowing uber nerd?

So what's your message Carp? People should check in with you to make sure they can travel and experience different areas? Weren't we all noobs at some time?

Didn't you get the memo? You need his approval now to board the airship to Kazham. Oh, and if you're a red mage, you HAVE to do what redvenomweb tells you, while we're at it.

It's amazing how some people get an inflated ego from playing a game based in a virtual world.

I think what carp is trying to say is that their should be an island for people who do not like to interact with others and help others out. An island where users only care about their own exp and their own character.

Personally I enjoy helping others and interacting, it's the reason I play the game. I'm all for this "seperation" 'cause pting with players like carp really puts a damper on the fun I should be having.

Understand that FFXI is a PARTY game, not a solo game. Yes you can make it soloing if you're patient though. In a game this mainstream you are always going to deal with clueless players. Cut them from the party if it's really a bother to you. But also, a good party leader should be able to work with what he has. Of course, if all else fails, I cut myself from the party voluntarily ^_^

I don't know why it took you so long. I partied with a group of 6 and I don't think we had a thief. Maybe took us 1 hour for each key. It was pretty easy. Well good luck to others in the future. Hope you have the same luck I did.
Bring a thief

I hate square so much for making this quest so difficult! Its near impossible without a thief. I did about 100 in each area with a thief before I got my drops.

of course if you have even one extra person with you you'll kill them faster. Faster = more kills over time = more chances to get one.

group may seem bad that you dont want to lot with them but again, more people = more kills.

I dont understand why everyone who cant get a skull or a key or a xyz drop feel like these quests are too hard...they're random/rare/supposed to be hard/based on luck, etc. You have to consider worst case scenario on any of these drop quests; dont read that someone got lucky in 5 mins or 5 kills and think you will be too.

Got the Plb. Chest key from an Old Quadav. Third kill. I'm a 25monk/12warrior wearing sub-par gear.

Bit of downtime, but a little bit of patience pays well.

in Windy Woods, right by the big tree, theres a tent with two Mithra inside. Talk to the one that doesn't have the Taru kid right by her.

ALAKAZAM airship pass
# Jan 04 2004 at 12:01 PM Rating: Default
dont waste your time if youre just getting the keys so that you can ride airshipS. I got the keys, then made the arduous journey by foot from Gheselba, just to find out that the key is only good for as the quest states: ALAKAZAM. By getting the airship pass, it doesn't give you rights to fly everywhere else!!!

If you ever want to get the ninja or samurai jobs, you *will* need this pass. There's no way around it, since both require going to Norg (accessable only if you're able to get to Kazham).

Beyond that, the areas outside of Kazham are the best for leveling from 25-30, fighting mandragoras.

I cannot get Guddal to offer me the quest. I am level 25. I have all the keys but he just doesnt tellme anything abut the quest. All he says is that this is the port that connects jeuno to the Elshimo island. That is it. What can i do.

I was wondering if you could explain to me what you mean by *registering* the expansion. I have downloaded disc 4 ( Rise Of Zilart ) what other steps beyond downloading do i need to take im also have issues with the npc for the quest offering me the quest. he does not even give me the option to buy the pass.
Any tricks?
# Dec 28 2003 at 4:01 PM Rating: Default
I am a lvl 25 rdm/12 thf and i have been hunting in Palborough with no success. Does one of the listed enemies drop the key more often? Also, is there a good spot to hunt for them? I have died twice already when several quadavs linked.
RE: Any tricks?
# Jan 21 2004 at 1:26 AM Rating: Default
Found a good place in Palborough to solo for the key- go to the zone-in for the burning circle area (not sure of the exact pos, just go to the burn spot on the map) and just camp at the zone line. Seveal Quadavs spawn in that tunnel there and it is easy to fight one at a time. If you get add's just zone.

The hardest thing about doing this is that you may have to run like hell to get to the zone line, I aggro'd about 6 Quadavs running in there. This is easy on the way in, just zone. On the way out though it is a bit harder cause you have farther to go to get to the zone. I asked a higher lvl to help me get out.

Worked for me! Not bad solo exp for my level (26) either. Good luck~~

I grouped with a 27 WAR and we were tearing through them. We probably killed 20-25 with no luck and then when we were about to give up, found 2 in a row.

Don't give up :)

I just got done getting mine with a group. We killed approx. 75 and got 4 keys out of them. They do drop but it is a very rare drop. Good hunting.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 27 2003 at 2:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i've been killing off the things needed for the keys, and i still haven't got one, i've killed about 20-50 of them

As long as you're 25 or above, this quest is cake. The only thing you have to worry about are the tier 3 linking. I can take 2 or 3 at a time, but I'm a WHM so I'm afforded good healing. I reccommend taking a party so that you can get the keys faster and also stopping to kill any nm you find in these areas because they have pretty good drops :).

The NPC for this quest is Guddal.

He can be found at I-7 in the departure room for the Kazham Airship.

You do not need to talk to him first to get the keys.

You do not need any particular rank, just enough fame to do the quest.
