Then I see at LEAST 60 other orcs ranging from EP to me, to EP to the 75pld with me.. wth... most brutal death ever.. period.

SummaryRetrieve some Orcish Dried Food from a storage hole in Davoi. Sharzalion will let you in on something in return. WalkthroughTalk to Sharzalion, who is at the bar in the tavern in South San d'Oria. If you're a level 40+ Red Mage, he'll give you the quest and tell you he wants some Orcish Dried Food. Go to Davoi and head to E-10. Make sure you use sneak and invisible, to avoid being attacked by orcs hiding on ledges. When you reach E-10, clear the area and then examine the ??? at F-9, beneath the small log bridge. A notorious monster named Purpleflash Brukdok will appear. Kill the NM orc, which is a black mage, and it drops a Davoi Storage Key. Next you have to find a storage hole to trade your key to. There are multiple locations about Davoi where the storage hole might spawn. A few locations are near the zone toJugner Forest, some are in the deeper parts of the zone and a couple are on the center island, which requires passing through Monastic Cavern to reach. The best way to find a storage hole is to run around, scrolling your cursor across your surroundings. Once you find one, trade your key to the storage hole to acquire the Orcish Dried Food. This got really long, so long story short goes here. Pulled off the NM battle with 48rdm/blm and 52blm/whm. Took 2 tries and forever long battles, but got lucky with the storage hole.
The other night I got to 48RDM plus quite a bit into level before my pt broke up and it was late enough that I didn't wanna start up with another pt, so I decided to give this a try finally.
So I go as 48rdm/blm and 52blm/whm (both played by me), thought I might have been able to do it as 50drg/brd (for no mp reliance) but since the call wyvern recast change is still a while away I was too worried that wyvern would die from -gas. Seeing as refresh wound up winning the battle for us, I now don't think drg would have worked.
We get back there and the NM is roaming around, as expected, but there's a mnk and drg orc that still say EP to both of us (found out later, no aggro).
Figured that a 48 could silence a 45 mob with no problem, wrong. Resisted silence and sleep2 every time even with elemental seal. But slow and blind stuck for a long time, seems strange to me.
Basically, confusion and panic coupled with the 2 links and my rdm dies. Blm has hate from NM and 1 link but got away from the other.
Kill the link and come raise rdm while the NM is still firing spells at her, then we tried to get in the tunnel area figuring that there'd be no more links...wrong, again.
Got the NM to manafont after about 20 minutes of trading spells with it, blm resisted every single nuke (took I think 45 damage once).
Links keep repoping and too many spell interupts + can't sleepga them bescause I don't wanna fight the lizard that's now in range, blm dies (after at least 40 minutes of battle and NM at 1/3 health).
I run rdm out into the river and the nm and 1 link de-aggro, engage other link for and sec and then run away a bit and it de-aggros.
Raise blm and wait for sickness to wear and full heal, then I have blm wait in the river this time.
NM has despawned so I have to wait about 20 minutes for it to repop, then pull with resisted silence while links are looking away...of course they both turned while he tried to cast a spell on me and linked.
Run to river, NM de-aggros, engage links while blm reclaims NM and begins trading spells again.
I kill both links and then engage NM with blm still at a distance, at 2/3 to 3/4 health NM closes to melee. Small problem with blm losing hate, solved with 3-4 cure3's and a stone3.
NM manafonts again, tried to dispel which fails, doesn't hurt to try it once. Had stoneskin back up in time, blm resisted everything again, stoneskin didn't break.
NM dies after an at least 30 minute fight, blm has 300/700hp and 300/500mp, rdm 750/750hp and 60/370mp. Escape.
I'd seen the storage hole on the way back, right inside the entrance thankfully. Also thankfully it was still there when I got back to it.
So back to sandy to finish the quest and after a long cutscene (which I liked), I get my fencing degen. Yeah it's useless (especially at 48), but it's still an accomplishment so I wore it while I did an overnight bazaar.

A couple of weeks ago, me and my pld friend decided we was going to fight this just us. We got rank 5 at lvl 50 with ease. Though, this sounds pretty hard, I know places in there have EP to a 69 BRD, and I am not looking forward to this at all. Seems too hard for a 41, which is why I didn't attempt it then I think even two lvl 52's might have problems? Sucks.. WHM was so easy ; ; and BRD. The only hint I got, which was from a lvl 75 RDM, which to be honest, isn't THAT great, (bit long ago he did AF1 ><) said it popped right near the zone, and he did it in about 1 hour of searching. But I don't have this kind of luck lol. I hate that place so much ; ;

(K-10) is a place a friend and I found her Storage Hole, not sure if anyone posted it or not.
yo guys i wanted to know...after you used the key on the storage hole does the orc food appear in the item pool or in the persons inventory? and does the storage hole appear on WideScan...i know alot of NPCs do but i noticed a decent amount of Treasure Chests dont so just a few questions thanks!

Ok, so I defeated this on my PLD 72 with some friends who tagged along. At first I thought I had to be on RDM to pop it since nothing happened when I clicked the ???. We all decided to go do something else that was fun and as we were leaving, one of my friends spotted Purple and we beat the living **** outta it. I got the key, we searched around and the same friend found it on the middle island with the broken down house while we were running through the river. I was going -.-;;;;;;;;; and same friend moved as close as she could to the Storage Hole and could actually reach it and I was able to trade my key to it after hugging the wall and I got the food.

hahaha got realllly lucky on this one. I always have supreme and awesome luck when it comes to searching down treasure. got the key, instantly found the location to use it... right at the zone to jugner. could you have any better luck than that? heh heh...

This is the worst quest I've ever had the displeasure to do. I had the key already, but after two damn hours of searching and inspecting every inch of Davoi, I find nothing. Good luck to anybody who attempts this hell.

beacuse i didnt see it on here:
i found with whith some help from my LS at G-10, next to a bunch of tents. according to them, it was the same area where you get the PLD AF equip.

Here is a picture of me standing over a "Storage Hole" I found it close to the zone from Davoi to Jugner Forest. In that little area where there's a little pond. Anyway this is what it looks like so you wanna look for this when lookin for it. Good luck hope this helps.

Ok now for the NM to spawn, you have to kill the Orcs around the ???. Just the 3 (or 4) Orcs around the ???, then the NM should spawn.

Ok I went to select the ??? and I got a message about it being damp in there or something, Purple didnt spawn, and we got aggro and had to escape...lol any help please?
yeah...I had a level 70 MNK with me. Purple spawned all right...but two level 58 orcs had something to say about whether we'd live to fight him -- they made short work of me (trying to heal the mnk), weakened the mnk...and Purple finished our attempt off.
I felt so bad...
there is no way on earth that they can reasonably expect a level 41 to complete this...I was level 46

lol no SE doesn't expect a lvl41 to complete it on their own - they have this whole bizarre notion of teamwork they they like to do - haven't you figured that out since the Dunes? /comfort

I had somthing simaler happen also. when i clicked the ??? it said blah balh damp blah balh, then about a min or so lator purple spawned.
just completed my AF1 today, purple went down easily, and the storage hole was right near where he spawned so i was lucky. So i wnet out to qufim after i got my sword killed a few things and retired he sword. Now on to AF2

I just completed this today. I went to San d'Oria and started the quest as Redmage. I then switched to myn level 59 Ninja. I went to Davoi and found the spot where Purpleflash Brukdok spawns he was already there. So i engage him and got him down to 25% health before he killed me. Well at this point I decided to get some help, so a lvl 70 whm friend of mine from my LS said she would go with me and heal me. This time I had no problem killing him. Now after this point I began to search Davoi for the Storage Hole, after about 30 mins of searching I decided to go through Monastic Caverns to the center island. So I cast Tonko: Ni and made myself invisible. When i got back out to Davoi again there was a Storage Hole right up from the zone. There was 3 Orcs around it that checked DC to me. I waited for them to turn away but there was always one looking so I decided to just drop invis and get trade the key to it. I dropped invis, traded the key, they all 3 aggroed me but I got the Key Item from the Hole then I ran for the zone to Monastic Caverns which was only a few feet away. I made it, BOOM AF1 Complete.
Very lucky! When I went to get mine, the storage hole was in the level 70+ area of the map. ;_; Luckily I had a lot of high levels with me.

Found it at G-9 also.
Hey all, I just helped a rdm friend with this, easy fight as pld64, Im guessing this orc is level 48-50, without ancient magic. Anyway, I read through all the posts, and found it was pretty hard to find spawn points, so i made a note of places everyone mentioned, and where i found it. Here they are, I hope this helps:

i found the "storage hole" in the sw party of G-10 but still on the trail. i spent 3 hrs searching davoi for it.. thank God im finished!

I'm doing this quest right now, and i found the Storage Hole at G-10 in the South East part behind a little hut with 3 little pots by it, from the posts i've seen it looks like it will spawn anywhere in Davoi at random.

Yes it is marked as Storage Hole. I found my near the entrance as well. It wasn't right there but around the pond to the right. I'm not good with directions so I hope that helps you some! ^^

i read on the guide that the storage holes can be in the island, the far deep davoi, or the beginning

The Storage hole is a random hole, took me a couple hours to find it. I have seen it pop in the front of Davio, but I found mine at (G-6), they also said it can be on the Island, I was on my way to the Island when I found It. Good Luck

Ok so I wanted to help a friend get her sword. I am a 66rdm decided I could solo this sucker. I subbed nin for kicks and giggles. So we get there and it pops and agros my 42 rdm friend, she dies. I was unaware of this until 4 other orcs agroed. So I have the nm and 4 little guys. I am like well kiss my *** /goodbye. I started working on the nm usin all my magic to keep phalanx-stoneskin-blink/utsu on and when I got 300tp I would cure full and spirits within. Took me 10 mins to just kill Purple, had to convert mid fight, never recasted an enspell or haste. I got so low on mp that I was relying on refresh to reload 30 mp to put stoneskin back up. It was pretty crazy, but she got her key, and soon after her sword. And I get the pride of knowing I killed an NM and 4 links without dieng.

My friend and I decided to go and kill this guy ourselves. Me, (55DRK) and my friend (55RDM) took care of this guy quite easily. Even when he used his 2hr and started casting like crazy, he wasnt much of a threat. Stun does wonders against him.
The my friend got lucky and he found the storage hole in 15 min. Overall it took about 30 min.
PS. Stun does wonders. He forgets to cast for a while afterwards. (even after he is no longer stunned)

ok first off me and a few ls members (62pld/31war galka, 62whm/31blm elvaan, 52sam/26war) and me as 40rdm/20whm went....well it was smooth sailing all the way to the big man himself, we stomped the NM like it wasnt nothing but thats where we went wrong...the sam...in her stupidity lotted higher than me on the key....well she got it and we got another for me anyways aside from that we wandered around Davoi like it was no tomorrow...after 2-3hrs and no storage hole and almost getting ganged up on by millions of orcs we said ***** it!! now if anyone can help me find this hole pls /tell me tomorrow (april 14,05) around 5pm cst and me and the ls members ( if they are willing ) will go looking again for it...pls im sick and tired of looking for this hole and i cant stand that they almost got killed on account of me wanting my af sword from that quest...
