The Crimson Trial - RDM AF1  

I solo'd this thing as a 62 THF/RDM with 3 of his orc buddies. Just kept Cure II'n, kept the regen up and drained his MP with Energy Steal.

i was wondering if the ranger "Wide Scan" ability could find the hole. I was also wondering if you have to do this AF quest before you do the other AF's for the red mage

Just killed this guy for my friend, pretty hard to get silence to stay on him.. Shock >> Elemental Seal + Silence was resisted, but paralze stuck and messed up a few of his spells, so probly if u elemental seal+Paralze that will work much better than silence since it wont stick ^.^ try that and tell us how it works.
Other than that he was very easy

Yeah, the higher ups on my LS are real busy with their static parties and I've asked around for help with no success. If there is someone on Shiva server, please give me a tell, I am 41 RDM and am leveling up my blm to 20 to do this. I appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

Ok,i'm startin to think you guys are just yankin my chain here. I just spent 3 hours searching ALL of Davoi and the parts of Monastic Cavern that I can access at lvl 40, and found nothing. -.-

Yeah... i did this with me *46 RDM/BLM At time of posting* and a 60 DRG/WAR *Yay Tay!*. And you know what... it was like... overkill... just pure overkill... Hell, i felt like i could solo the thing *though, my sword skill is just horrid... so i rather leave Tay up to that ^^*. But yeah, just grab one big buddy and that should be it. i dunno how these other people who had like the 68 SAM NOT kill it quick... Also... don't bother with the silence, i tried over and over *First being ele sealed* and my DRG friend eventually said "Forget about it" lol ^^... But yeah, the only part that got me was the finding the key hole... it was like... REALLY deep inside *It was like.... IT mobs to my friend and I* and i thought all the orcs were looking away... but guess not ;.;.... but meh... its a good sword to whack things around with ^^... but when im able to get the joyuse, i'm subbing the degen out ^^...

Not a whole of Information on here so ill try to add on. Purpleflash Brukdok is probably a low to mid 50 mob. Gave me and a 68 samurai a decent run for our money bcus other orcs linked. He spawns about every hour or so, give or take 15 mins. Kill the orcs in the room w/ ??? and a board to make him spawn. Hes a Blm and does alot of -ga II spells so if your 41 rdm, you'd better let the person/people helping you fight him or you can quickly die.

Yes he can be silenced, Elemental Seal + silence and it lasted a very long time. I was also able to debuff him with slow/blind/paralyze after a couple casts. (41 Rdm) The main thing is try to keep him silenced, he casts like a player would, not a dumb mob, constantly casting -ga spells. I believe he uses Manafont.

To reach E-9 easiest way is like the guide, use the river and sneak/invis yourself. Me and my friend(68 Sam) wasnt entirely sure where to go at first, and a Orcish General aggrod the Samurai, and they are not easy to kill. He hit me for 150+ with Protect II and Phalanx on, so just use the water to avoid this ^^.

Well...I went with a girl in my LS and 2 strong people >.>;;; It took us a while to find Purple Rainbow Man...but We got him, and the girl got the first key. Then. He spawned, and while we were fighting, a RDM doin quest as well asks for help. We kill, I get my key. We kill it ONE more time. And get the key. ^^ So, we running, because we saw a storage thing on the way in. We got to the storage..and the girl (my fiancee by the way ^^..) get's her food. Then right infront of it..is another one o_O...Wow I got lucky. So i got my food and we warped back to Sando and got our swords. So happy ^_^ d(^-^)b

Think I can solo this at 52RDM/BLM or NIN? I got a Gaia Doublet with +4 VIT so I think I might be able to handle it...but I want to be sure before I try. Losing exp at 52 carelessly would be a pain. Please respond ^^

Had a horrible start, but once we actually started fighting it, 50 whm, 50 rdm, 50 pld, 49 mnk (who had just delevelled and lost the ability to use his weapons) and we killed him with relative ease.

i just recently joined a LS and decided to make a mark and help a RDM w/ this. he was 42. i am a 56 blm taru. i thought "couldnt be that hard". after getting to where he thought it was(wasnt), i looked up here and took us to the right place. ran there to see only him sitting there. i buffed a little and ran in thinking easy fight. it first resisted my seal + silence (which leads me to beleive he cant be). i did my nuking thing, barly doing damage. thank god for drain/aspir. it was way harder then i thought. espiecially when in the middle it seemed he just casted over and over and over. i 2 houred and he converted and we barly got it. goes to show, blm's can tank :P

I was bored one evening and decided to attempt to solo Purpleflash Brukdok with my PLD56/WAR28. My RDM just reached 42 and I figured I could use the Fencer Degen for a good MP+10 boost. I went thru (K-9) down to (J-10) and onto the river with nothing aggro'ing me. Headed upstream to (I-9) and made a left and another left at (H-8) that went straight to (D-8). Turned left at (D-8), headed onto land, made an immediate right at (D-9) and found Purpleflash spawned at (E-9) with 2 orcs and 2 lizards nearby.

After waiting a little bit for the 2 orcs to move away, I engaged Purpleflash and started off with Spirits Within (300TP) for about 500dmg (or roughly a 1/10th of its HP bar). After raising my eyebrow at the monitor, I continued pounding away at Purpleflash with my lackluster PLD damaging weapons and skills. Once its HP was about half way gone and most of my MP used, it started doing an assortment of BLM spells (Firaga, Blizzard II, Blizzaga, Thunder II, Water II, etc.) that did around 50-250dmg each (I knew I should have subbed WHM for Silence). To make things more interesting, one of the orcs linked and I was face-first into the ground shortly afterwards.

One week later (last night), I leveled my RDM to 49 and figured that I better get this AF done if I'm going to start doing the other ones too. I asked my RDM60 friend to come along with me this time and we easily disposed of Purpleflash without any minor/major problems.

We escaped afterwards and headed back inside Davoi to look for the storage hole. I was a little skeptical at first about finding the storage hole with my PLD rather than RDM, in fear that I wouldn't get the key item... But fortunately, you can get the Dried orc food with any job. We split up looking for the storage hole and eventually found it at the (F-7)/(G-7) area with a lot of Orc Footsoldiers, Bowshooters and Gladiators in the way. They were all easy prey with high evasion and defense to my PLD56, and easy prey with low evasion and defense to the RDM60.

We left Davoi, helped some friends with the SAM quest and called it a night. I got my Fencer Degen earlier today.
