Summary

Paku-Nakku keeps falling asleep in class. It seems as though something happened during the class excursion to the Orastery. Find out the cause of his sleepiness and wake him up, before he fails the grade.

Walkthrough

After completing the Reap What You Sow quest, speak with Mashuu-Ajuu again. He will complain about Paku-Nakku snoring in class. Talk to Pakuu-Nakku (he doesn't say much) to get the quest. You won't be asked if you want to accept the quest, it will just appear in your current quest list.

Head to the Orastery in Port Windurst and talk to Maabu-Sonbu (E-7) and he will that you try a bunch of blazing peppers to wake up the kid. According to him, these peppers grow in the Pashhow Marshlands. You will need a sickle to harvest them. If you don't want to harvest them, you can buy them at the Auction House.

Trade the peppers to Mashuu-Ajuu and they will not work completely. Go back to speak with Maabu-Sonbu, then Pechiru-Mashiru inside the eastern building of the Aurastery in Windurst Waters). He gives you a magic phrase to say to the sleeping kid. Go back and talk to Paku-Nakku. Choose the correct phrase to complete the quest.

Go back to Pechiru-Mashiru and he will give you a Hypno Staff.

Slight error on the quest description.I could not skip any steps for one,but more important is,you trade the peppers to Paku not Mashuu.
A little less running back and forth...

You can save yourself the second trip to Maabu-Sonbu. After giving the blazing peppers to Mashuu-Ajuu, you can just visit Pechiru-Mashiru to get the magic phrase. You don't have to have Maabu-Sonbu tell you to go talk to Pechiru-Mashiru first.

It's possible that you don't even need to visit him in order to find out about the blazing peppers either, but I didn't check.

For those trying to get the set with the Stationary:

I believe THIS event is triggered by Teacher's Pet. And if you aquire this quest, you cannot get the quest with Mashuu-Ajuu for stationary. If you don't have this quest, you can. If you HAVE this quest, do it, zone, and if you have rank 4+ Fame in Windy, you will recieve the quest from Mashuu.

Cant get it!!!
# Sep 27 2005 at 2:17 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, i have tried several times to get this quest, but all the NPC talks about is his Sobbing Fungus. I have Hero status in Windurst and i have already done the Reap What You Sow quest. Any ideas as to why i cant get this one? Dont need it, but would like to just get it out of the way.

well, on the Reaping what you Sow quest, i grew the item myself, and didnt buy from AH or store. Also, instead of a Sobbing Fungus, i grew a Deathball for the kid.

Got this quest immediately after trading it to him and talking to him again.

i heard that u should be able to buy the peppers at kaitlina's catylsst shop in windurst waters. thats a problem no one seems to know that if u go to an actual store that they might have what u r looking for for cheaper then the AH. thats how i get my crafting up and make gil. buy cheap and sell expensive. crying mustard on asura cost 23gil each at the guild. one stack sells for 4k see what I'm saying?

yagudo=big bird gone gothic
orc=homicidal green barney
quadav=walking **** with crust
1000gil, ya right!

there's inflation for you: blazing peppers on ragnarok are 4k+ @ ah in windy. i bid up to 4k (last bids were all 3k) and gave up.
Other quest interference?

I cannot get this quest.
I've done Reap what you Sow twice, and I have max fame.

Since Pakuu-Nakku mentions the test they just took (a reference to "Making the Grade"), I wonder if having that quest active interferes with getting this quest.

Actually, I just read some posts on Making the Grade, and somebody said you can't have this active at the same time as that. So, now I have to go find some mages and hack at some Wendigos. Bleh.

After waking the kid up halfway, you can just go straight to Pechiru-Mashiru to get the spell without leaving the Aurastery at all.

Edit: Never mind, it's just the ??? up in E-5. Yay!

I have lvl 3 fame in Windurst but everytime I try to get this quest Mashuu-Ajuu keeps asking for the fungus, any idea how can I get this quest? Should I just keep repeating Reap What You Sow again and again until I get it or just come back in another time?

Ok solve the problem, in order to get this quest you need to have lvl 4 fame in Windurst.
RE: Question
# Jul 16 2004 at 10:39 PM Rating: Decent
Fame lvl 4 won't do, as that is what I am and I can't trigger it. And my LS leader is fame lvl 5 and she can't get it either. Must be lvl 6 fame to trigger it.
RE: Question
# Aug 09 2004 at 10:40 PM Rating: Decent
You also need to have the "Reap What You Sow" quest completed. After you have that completed, and you've zoned once, you need fame level 4.
RE: Question
# May 12 2005 at 4:09 PM Rating: Decent
thats not accurate either...i havent done "reap what you sow" and my rank is barely enough to get the tele-mea scroll quest but i was able to get this one.

"No reward at this point and the quest is marked as complete. Go back to Pechiru and he will give you a Hypno Staff."

From the quest decription. Have to talk to Pechiru again.

Oddly enough, I haven't done 'Reap What You Sow' yet and I got this quest first. I'm not sure if it's a matter of fame or not, though...but my current character (Zathaan) has level six fame in Windurst. o_O

Just curious if this is a glitch or something, or if you really don't REALLY have to do that first quest to get this one.

I havent done the 'Reap What You Sow' quest yet either. I have lvl 4 fame, and I got this quest just after I did the "Making the Grade" quest for my Aspir Scroll.
No peppers needed
# Feb 04 2004 at 12:32 AM Rating: Default
I was completing this quest and had the remedy ready to give to Paku-Nakku. Before giving the remedy to Paku-Nakku, I talked to Maabu-Sonbu. He immediately said, "Oh the remedy didn't work? Try blazing peppers." Boy was I upset. I had paid 4000+ gil for the remedy. Well I gave the remedy to Paku-Nakku anyway and it did not work. No peppers were for sale at AH. So in frustration I went to talk to Pechiru-Mashiru. He said go tell Paku-Nakku that the doll did it. So i did. Guess what? I did not have to give the kid the peppers!!!! It may be that you can complete this quest without giving Paku-Nakku the remedy or the peppers!!! Try it and save money and time. Someone in our LS will test this soon.

Maabu-Sonbu does skip over the section about the remedy and act as if it didn't work, so no remedy needed...

...but Pechiru-Mashiru simply continues to repeat his lines about being a "sitting duck" until you buy and give Blazing Peppers to Paku-Nakku.

Once you halfway wake Paku-Nakku up with the Blazing Peppers, then Pechiru-Mashiru will change dialogue and give you the magic phrase to wake Paku-Nakku up.

So...you do need the peppers. :)

Exact fame needed
# Jan 25 2004 at 4:40 PM Rating: Decent
After playing around with my vender. I did the "Reap What You Sow" quest 50+ times. This quest is only set off by Reap what you Sow and the exact fame needed for this is as follows.

Zabirego-Hajigo : Why if it isn't (name)! I heard some guys talking about you over there dinners at the eatery last nght.
Zabirego-Hajigo : They had nothing but good things to say about you. Keep up the good work!

The only quest I did with my venders was the Sow quest.
Location of ??? in Pashhow
# Jan 16 2004 at 6:49 AM Rating: Default
I had a hard time finding the ???, as every walkthrough I found said it was off a path in the northeastern corner. That should be northwestern. ;) Found it at E-5.

Harvest points are labeled "Harvest Point" not ???

The ??? is probably for another quest.

Harvest Points move around, as once one is spent it tends to reappear in a different location somewhere.. possibly theres spawn spots in both places but not simultaneously..

Getting the quest
# Dec 20 2003 at 9:29 AM Rating: Default
I repeated "Makeing the Grade quest" well over 16 times...in a row, just zoning and comming back. Then all of a sudden I could not do it anymore because he was talking about the kid sleeping. I was lvl 20 throughout the entire endeavor.

Making the Grade
# Dec 09 2003 at 11:32 AM Rating: Default
Not true, I did Making the Grade at lvl 18. I think you just need a certain amount of fame for it.

As for Reap what you Sow, I've "completed" it twice now and am lvl 20. First I gave him a Sobbing Fungus, then the Deathball....just waiting for Let Sleeping Dogs Lie to kick in now.....haven't gotten it yet :(.
Requirements
# Dec 08 2003 at 4:20 PM Rating: Default
Making the grade is definitely not required. I got this quest wtihout having even initiated the making the grade one (not high enough level). So its probably a fame issue.
