I managed to finish the Gobbie Bag V quest last night on the Bahamut Server - given by the same NPC as the others.

All items were available in decent quantities in the Jeuno Auction House. The prices for two of these items were as much as I had spent for all 16 of combined items in the 4 previous quests! I only hope for everyone else's sake that they will go down as time goes by and the CoP expansion is released in NA.

1. Paktong Ingot (Smithing) ~3k
2. Square of Bugard Leather (Leathercraft) ~6k
3. Rhodonite (Goldsmithing) ~41k
4. Square of Moblinweave (Clothcraft) ~101k (!)

I'm not sure of my own fame level in Jeuno but I have level 8 fame / rank 5 in San d'Oria and have completed quite a few quests in each of the other areas too so it's fairly high.

I hope this helps!

This is a small helper for the Gobbie Bag V quest... Or as Bluffnix calls it "A bag big enough to carry your grandma in." I will honestly say I have not done a lot of reseach on the items yet, but it appears they come from the Chains of Promathia expansion. I was Rank 5 with Jeuno Fame of 6. I believe, like the Gobbie Bages before, this is only based on fame. I have done nowhere near "100 UNIQUE" Quests. I repeated the heck out a few. *I am a whm.... I had to get the teleports somehow*
He asks you to bring him the following:
Rhodonite (GEM-Goldsmithing)100K
Paktong ingot (Smithing) 5k
Square of Moblin Weave (Clothcraft) N/A
Square of Bugard Leather (leathercraft) N/A
All Prices are from the Lakshmi Server San D'oria Auction House. I will update this when I have more information.

It looks like the requirements for this quest are Level 5 Jeuno fame. I had level 4 Jeuno fame and Gobbiebag III wasn't even available to me, then went to bastok and did 2 quests to increase my bastok fame to level 5. Then I went back to Jeuno, and my Jeuno fame had also increased to level 5. Now Gobbiebag III was available to me, and when I finished it I was shocked to see that Gobbiebag IV was also available to me!. The total for Gobbiebag cost III was about 80k, 35k for the painite, 35k for the gold ingot, and then not much total for the rest. Gobbiebag IV is MUCH cheaper, only cost me about 15k

Cabbages = the way to go.

Ok I have some information about the gobbie bag 4. I had finished gobbie bag 2, and I decided I wanted to do some selbina cabbage runs. I could not get gobbie 3, and I delivered 12 stacks of cabbages, a lossage of 10 gil per completed quest. After doing this I was able to do Gobbie bag 3, & 4!

Gobbiebag cost
# May 28 2004 at 11:46 AM Rating: Decent
On Caitsith, I completed all four Gobbiebag quests for just a hair over 100K (Roughly 100,300 gil). I got really lucky with a Painite for 1K in SandO and also picked up a Goshenite for 2K and Velvet Cloth for about 2.5K. Famewise, I'd done Bubbly Bernie ~30 times and run 14 stacks of Moss (168 total) to Selbina.

I suddenly feel so very poor, but luckily my Sapling harvest is ready.

Sorry to add further confusion to the issue, but I think that this quest, like most in Jeuno, take a combination of a specific number of quests completed elsewhere (and possible in Jeuno) and Fame, perhaps only in Jeuno.

I completed more than 100 quests by level 7 (Sandy, Bastok & Windy) yet could not get even 1 quest in Jeuno. My fame was great in Sandy and ok in the other two, yet the guy in Jeuno had "Never heard of me".

Upon getting 30+ levels under my belt, and dong the missions up to Rank 4, and doing the Tenshodo quest, I was able to do Gobbiebags through the last one and almost every other Jeuno quest, and my fame is quite high now in Jeuno.

Other people in my LS that have done 100+ quests but only between two cities, and are Rank 3, can not get past Gbag II or III.

Sooo, while I don't have the "scientific facts" and figures that some people quote, I can say this from observation:

-Do as many quests in as many places as you can. All fame appears to help Jeuno fame, and later you'll want it for Tenshodo fame as well.

-Repeatables are nice, but I've never done a repeatable more than 10x, yet I've unlocked every quest available to my level. Try doing more unique ones.

-Keep trying. Sometimes I'e gone back to an NPC 3+ times, and strangely enough I get a quest without having done much in between times.

-Yes, it's worth it. heh I hear people complaining constantly about not having enough space, money or whatever. I have maxed by Safe and my Bag, I have lots of neato items, and I can do and see things others my level can't, as a result of questing. :)

Just my 2 cents....

I like doign the different one time quests just for fun, but to get my fame high in Windy i just turned in 9 stacks of sardines. takes a darn while b/c you have to zone every time, but yeah my fame was at like the 3rd level when I started and is now second from highest. I would turn in a dozen stacks of Boyhada Moss, but everyone does that and it made the prices go up to high for me to afford it. I'm seriously thinking about farming the moss myself, but I'd have to get my THF to 15 first and even then I'm wondering if it'd be worth my time... anyway, repeatables are great for getting fame high quickly. single time quests are great for having a good time and getting into the story :-)
So cheap!
# Mar 14 2004 at 3:34 PM Rating: Decent
I was so happy to get this quest...
When I checked the prices of the 4 items, they totalled around 28k for all of them!!

Now after doing Gobbie III which cost around 90k... this was a blessing ^^

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 12 2004 at 1:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you ppl make me want to stab my eyeballs with a pocketknife
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 03 2004 at 3:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Repeating a quest also adds to your fame, so if you did Fear of The Dark in Sandoria like...100 times like most newbs should for the gil, you'll have 'completed' 100 quests. Repeatable quests do increase fame
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 04 2004 at 5:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Doing a quest the first time gives you one point, after that its 1/2 point. So you'd have to do it 199 times to get the quest...
RE: Fame
# Mar 01 2004 at 9:00 AM Rating: Decent
Wrong. Well, maybe not completely. You have a point in that successive completions of the same quest may give you slightly less fame than the first time, but thats about as close as you get towards knowing what you are talking about. Every quest gives different amounts of fame, depending on the difficulty of completion. Also, your fame (and hence which quests you can recieve) is not directly related to the *number* of other quests completed. Your fame is based on the number of quests with relation to their difficulty.

I believe gobbiebag 4 requires fame level 7 or 8 in jeuno, which may coincide with you doing *approximately* 100 quests, but depending on whether you're turning in bat wings or black tiger fangs (san quests), this could be off by as much as 20 or more. For a correct explanation of how fame works, I recommend the Fame Guide found on www.gamefaqs.com
