Description

Speak with Heiji above the shop where you can find Laisrean. He asks you to bring him 10 rusty subligar, one at a time. Go fish them out or buy them at the AH in Norg and feed him 8, then 2. (He keeps good track)

After giving him all of them he'll reward you with Kurayami: Ichi, the ninja blind spell.

Fished in bastok mines with clothespole and lugworms for 6 hours yesterday from full moon to last quarter, got 1 subligar and lost track of my buckets. 2 leggings. Fished for 6 more hours today, all in new moon, one of them was windsday, at 2% new moon, which seems to be where all the success is happening, and I didn't get any at all ; ; (I got one the second cast when I logged in this morning, at something like 13% new moon.. but none after that). I'm just gonna farm the money to buy the damn thing.. /frustrated

Like many of the other posters have mentioned the best spot is in the drainage water in Bastok Mines.

I was using a Clothespole and Lugworms, 2% New Moon, Windsday, I caught 7 rusty subligars within 1 hour. I had 3 from yesterday which took several hours, so I'm done catching my 10 for the kurayami quest.

My advice to all: Wait till a new moon to try fishing for these, it will save you ALOT of time.

in Norg (Like A Shiniing Subliager Quest) the npc that offers this had changed the iten i needed to bring him. In this guide it says i needed to bring rusty leggings to the npc, but in fact i needed to bring rusty subligars instead... i hope this helps so that no one has to waste time or gil

Correction on your correction:

You went to the wrong NPC.

There are 2 NPCs there, one wants 10 rusty subligars, the other 10 rusty leggings. Both give a ninjitsu scroll.
1 at a time, no
# Jul 10 2004 at 10:30 PM Rating: Decent
you dont have to give him them 1 at a time, i didnt

BTW wat lvl can u fish rusty subligars?
RE: 1 at a time, no
# May 13 2005 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
Just make sure not to fish with a wooden rod since they tend to break with rusty item. Using a Composite F. Rod is a safe way not to brake your rod.

Yeah the whole Yagudo Necklaces is the best way to go. I took my mule in there with me (I played on PC and mule waited by entrance on the ps2) and I was turning in necklaces 50 at a time. So it took me about 4-5 hours using my 33 Thf/Nin.

the cheapest and most profitable way to get norg fame is the sandoria smuggling quest in port. of course you need rank 5 to ride the airship, and you might get caught and banned from boarding the airship in jueno, but if u do it right before you log out every day you should be able to board the airship when you log back in. Anyway the NPC is in cargo room B and his name starts w/ a P... he's also in the NPC quest...

also, idk if you can catch rusty subligar in port sandy or not, but hey, you can fish while doing this quest so why not try lol.

If you are in Bastok, and have a thf or /thf, do the zinc runs from Dangruf. Zinc ore dropped by worms in the first level worm room (turn left as you enter Dangruf), and you can get sulfur (around 8k per stack), flintstones (Bastok quest, stone arrowheads with GS) and hermit rings (around 5k last time I saw price in Jeuno). Did this a couple of years ago, and the greatest thrill was coming back from Dangruf one time, maybe lvl 20 thf: Lizzie popped literally at my feet, claimed and got the boots!

I just turn in my zinc ores that i get from minning to this guy. most people drop them anyway so i figure "hey, why not make 350 gil and some tenshodo fame?"

As far as building the fame goes I would highly reccomend the Yagudo necklace quest if you have the patience for it... If you're a thief, like me, anyway. I would go to Giddeus with nothing in my inventory but my linkpearl and my dagger and kill until my inventory was full of necklaces. Usually took me about an hour. In that hour i raked in like 2k in gil which isn't a lot but it's better than nothing, and then another 1.2k for the actual quest done 6 times. if you do that ten times 32k. Where as that zinc ore quest every time i killed worms for it i never got the zinc and it took me hours to do it enough to fill up my inventory because I refuse to pay 300 gil each since you don't get that much back in return. However if you feel like wasting the gil and not wasting time do the zinc quest^^

Actually, the necklace one got me enough fame to do all the ninja scroll quests. It took me an hour or so to get 4 zinc ores, but I was filling my inventory with necklaces within an hour. I just kept going back (war31/thf15) and refilling on necklaces. Imho, mihgo's quest takes much less time because I can get 10x as many of the items even though it takes more turnins. And it does work.
Rods, Baits and Skill level?
# Jan 28 2004 at 10:58 PM Rating: Decent
Hello all,

may i ask what kind of rod (large/regular), Baits and Skill level for fishing in order for me to fish Rusty Subligars out of Norg's beach?

Thanks,

Pretty much any rod and bait will allow you to catch it. BUT, rods that are weak (ie: willow and bamboo) will sometimes break if you catch a rusty item. I personally recomend getting a G.F. Fishing pole or Mithra Fishing pole to fish up Rusty items.
Nanaa?

A good fame indicator is by checking the rice ball price in Jeuno. I went when rice ball was offered at 155 gil. All quests were open for me.

I got the Utsu quest when rice balls were (and still are) being offered to me at 161 gil, which I find very strange... (and yes I know it was the Utsu quest because I completed it). Maybe it was because I got most of my Norg fame from the smuggling quest? (I only traded in maybe 2 sets of Yagudo beads, 20 sets of zinc ores, and did the smuggling quest more times than I can remember)
Tuning fork of water

Tuning fork of water" this is the quest for water summon!! are you sure you only did necklaces quest about 20 times and the zinc ore quest about 20 times? you must have done more quests than that
fame needed
# Jan 15 2004 at 3:00 AM Rating: Default
well I dont know how much fame is needed but, Ive done the necklaces quest about 20 times and the zinc ore quest about 20 times, I came to norg, got the quest for both the shining ones (the rusty armor stuff) and all 3 scrolls, Hojo, Tonk and Utsusemi. I also got another quest from some liltlte taru, anyone know what the hell a "Tuning fork of water" is for? its a key item I got from him, no idea what to do with it.

Tuning fork of water is for the Leviathan avatar quest.
Note
# Jan 08 2004 at 9:57 AM Rating: Default
The rusty subligars do not have to be traded one at a time.
heh
# Jan 07 2004 at 7:41 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, I meant trade it to him, pardon my funky word usage. :P Guild terminology has gotten out of hand in my guild.

As for estimated fame, they didn't post because it's not based on the global fame, but specifically Tenshodo fame. The 'Shining X' quests need around 20 fame (ie: Shady Business completions), 'Not your Vault' needs about 25, 'Sahagin Vault' (Utsusemi: Ichi) needs 30.

Note there are a few other ways of getting fame with the Tenshodo, like the Shady Business quest or the Purple Belt quest.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Regardless of what people claim, DO NOT WASTE TIME WITH NANAA MIHGO'S QUEST. Any fellow thief that has done AF1 now understands why. In the cutscenes Nanaa talks trash on them and basically says she hates them, but won't go against them.

Are you saying not to waste time because it takes forever, or not to waste time because it doesn't work at all. If its the later you're 100% wrong. Half the people in my linkshell have gotten the scroll through the yag necklace quest

I couldnt get any of his shinning started and I finish most of the Windust quest and half of the job quest.

# Jan 07 2004 at 6:58 PM Rating: Default
I had the same problem.. I have about 25 quests done in San d'Oria, about 4 or 5 outlands, and 2 jeuno quests done. Also couldn't get the quest with a lv10 ninja job as main or sub job (25ranger/10ninja). Any ideas from people that have gotten these? I plan lvling ninja up and being able to get these scrolls from questing when they would be useful to me would be nice..
RE: Estimated Fame Needed
# Jan 15 2004 at 1:09 PM Rating: Default
Its Tenshodo Fame that you need, not Bastok or WIndurst. You get this by doing the quests from Tenshodo members multiple times (ie: Mihgo's Amigos) This fame is seperate from Any other fame, and is hard to keep track of.
