SummaryYour mumeito and a handful of crystal scales are needed to forge a katana that will be used in a Norg ritual. WalkthroughJaucribaix asks you to bring him the Mumeito he gave you when you became a Samurai and a handful of crystal scales. If by chance you tossed the Mumeito, Jaucribaix will sell you another one for 30,000 gil AFTER you have accepted the quest. To get the scales you need to find a "Sack of Fishbait" dropped by ONLY in the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah by Goblin Robbers. Once you have the sack go to (E-8) near a lake. There is a ??? there. Trade the sack of fishbait to the ??? and it will spawn pugil NM Isonade. After you defeat Isonade examine the ??? again to recieve the scales. ONLY people who have the quest flagged can get the key item "Handful of Crystal Scales" from the ??? after defeating Isonade. pretty ez kill. soloed 62smn/31whm. Pulled out Ramuh, hit it with some thunder IV about 3x, then to conserve mp, let carby handle the rest.

Well since I don't see anyone as low as me who defeated this guy I quess I'll share my experience. Went as as a 55bst/dnc, used keeneared Steffi and two biscuits to heal him also kept Enmmity on him at all times.. Done!! a pieace of cake. So good luck to ya.

This was a massive let down. I went today as 75DRG/37RDM cast stoneskin popped killed it in well under a minute. It did a whopping 0dmg to me and wyvern in fight...pathetic.
Amazing. At level 75, you had no trouble with a mob that was meant to be challenging to a level 40. You are all that is man.
Figured I would add my input. NM is easily soloed by 75BLM/RDM.
Unresisted Thunder 4 with HQ staff and max potency did 1281
Same for Blizzard 4 did 1400
Freeze 2 with 1753
These were on Ice day with AF2 pants.
Damage came out to right around 5500 HP

Just done this quest, took approx 45 misn to complete (thank god for OP warps!).
Had to farm the fish bait again (got some a week ago but dropped it not realising I needed it for this quest) but got on fifth robber so not long to get that.
NM was no problem, solo'd it as 75 PLD/WAR - only had to use cure 3 once, no food used.
Now just got to get to 42 to use the weapon.

Dude. I totally just solo'd this NM as 57 Ranger/ 28 Ninja
Strategy:
I brought Reraise items, Food, Bloody bolts, and Sleep bolts.
Got tp from nearby monsters, clearing them out. Bloody bolts the entire time, sleep bolts when I needed shadows. Used EES, barrage, and slugshot to start fight.
Screwdriver did lke 350. Make sure you keep that reserve. 250 was the lowest I got.
Oh and dont freak out when the scales dont drop like I did. you gotta check the ??? again.

Solo'd this easy on my 75 WHM/BLM, threw out a few debuffs and kept blink and stoneskin up and only took about 50 dmg from screwdriver the entire fight. has a lot of HP, needed 4ish hexas to finish him off, especially after he did the defense boost move. Glad I have the outpost warps though, made this take 20 mins ^^/
Got the drop from Goblin Robbers on the way from the outpost to the pop spot, in 2nd kill. Easy!

40Sam/20thf wanting to do the quest now so when i hit 42 i can use it, there are better GKs its just i dont have a lot of money. im on pandy if anyone wants to help :)

Just solo'd this as a 65 Blu/Nin was too easy thought it would put up more of a fight i was wrong at the end it had only taken 100hp from me with me only healing from a digest i used not even MB'd basically between utsusemi, zephyr mantle and feather barrier it couldn't touch me, and it used screwdriver once but just as i got my shadows up so can't give any advice on what sort of damage it does to lv65 but don't think it would of mattered feel sorry for the little guy lol
Hardest part was finding the goblin robbers found some by the out post got it on the 3rd kill

Just completed this quest. Me as a RDM 60 and friend as 72 MNK
*NOTE: If you tossed your Mumeito (1st sword given when you get SAM Job) you can get it again for 30k (as stated before)but he'll only give it to you if you are a SAM, i went as my RDM and he just talks
You dont have to be a SAM to get the ??? to pop, just need the Stack of Fish Bait from Goblin Robbers found on your way in. seems to drop easy got it on 1st try and again on way out. Once you get Stack of Fish Bait head to E-8
You may want to clear the area for mobs and if at night clear the wolfs hanging about.
Once you get Fish Scale Crystals head back to Norg and get your Sword

OK, in order to obtain a new Mumeito:
Go back out to the main area of Norg after talking with Jaucribaix. Face the tunnel that you have to go into to talk to Jaucribaix. To your left is a small wooden bridge. Under that bridge is Ranemaud.
You can't just talk to him. Talk to him first, then trade him 30k, and he'll hand over a new Mumeito. There ya go!

i did this with a 75 thf i was a 42 sam. got the bait drop first gob kill, cleared out the area around the ???, and pwned the pug in about 1 minute.

Ok, so about a week ago me and a friend from my LS, a lvl 63 DRG, went to do this quest and died. Now, for some reason, whenever I go back to try to do the quest, I can't even get the pug to pop. I have the bait and I have started the quest, but it still won't let me pop the pug. Can somebody help me out?

I went to do this today with my friend who is a 61 THF/NIN. I am a level 40 SAM/WAR. We got the trigger on the first goblin we killed, but had to end up killing a few more b/c of links. I was a little skeptical based on what I'd read so far, but we went ahead and tried it anyways. Right at the start I used Tachi: Enpi and my friend followed it by Dancing Edge. The first time we did this, it put up 1400ish damage total. We continued doing the same SC throughout the fight, which took 2-3 minutes. My friend forgot to bring Bloody Bolts, but his health barely fell below half. This fight was easier than I thought it was gonna be.

NM has 6,146 HP.
I had a 75 dragoon from my LS do this for me. I wasn't feeling up to try to find a party to get it done.
I got the Bait drop on the first Robber kill. so it went kind of fast.

Can someone please tell me what it means in the sentence "ONLY people who have the quest flagged can get the key item "Handful of Crystal Scales" from the ??? after defeating Isonade.". What does "quested flagged" mean? Someone please tell me.
"quest flagged" means that you have the quest started and the quest is listed in your "Current Quests" list, so you can't just go and get the item and save it for later when you decide to level SAM.
we duoed it. props to fulvousrampage the pld - cos some **** in my ls (who said we couldnt duo it) won't give them. advise going before 1700 as the hell hounds pop then - we didnt and ended up with 3 of them and 2 coeurls on us.... you can guess the rest ;;

yeah i need to find out how to get the sword again for lvl 1 sam :( i threw it away! Im so stupid. Anyways is there a way to get it again>? Plus I cant find how to raise ur norg fame at all anyone have any ideas?

Boy this quest was a pain in the butt to complete. The quest itself was pretty simple. I actually kept the Mumeito haha. I'm such a packrat. I had a feeling I might have needed it when i started Sam, and found out only a few nights ago, that i actually needed it for AF1 so i saved myself 30k, XD. Aside from that the quest is as simple as they say. However do the quest with someone who can at least so dmg. I had a lvl 75whm/37smn and they found it hard, because, as greatful as i was for her help, it still took a while, and they hit low mp pretty quickly, even as a lvl 75whm/37smn, but she avoided using many damaging spells and focused on healing and hitting. The bait is a rare/ex, so my sugestion is to have a thf job lvled above 15 so you can get Treasure Hunter, i'm not sure f it increases the chances but it might be helpful. I was subbing thf cause i normally do that and i got the bait after the 2nd robber i killed. Definatly shout out to Zeba the whm who helped me with the quest! You're the best!
