Description

Talk to Devean behind Sheperd's Muster in Selbina.

He asks if you want to find some loot he hid in Davoi. If you say yes he will ask you to bring him back a pair of power sandals hidden inside an urn in Davoi, and will ask if you want to bet on how quick you will make it back to him. You then need to bet either 100, 150, 500, or 1000 gil and if you will make it back in 24, 36, 48, 60, or 72 hours. The quicker you come back to him with the sandals, the more money you will make. Example is if you choose that you will be back in 24 hours you will get back 3 times your bet for your reward, and if you choose that you will be back in 72 hours you will get 1.2 times your bet for a reward.

You must be back to him before the time you said to get the money, if you are not back in time you lose the money from your bet.

Oh yeah, the link to those Power Sandles is:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=4044

Rare and Ex so you can't run off and sell them.

By the way, anyone know if this quest is actually repetable? I heard somewhere that it was but I doubt it. ALso anyone have a map or guide to finding the right pot? I sit different for everyone?

this quest was hard lol. suggested level at least 55+. very strong orcs and they all link too. orcs detect by scent and sight(ffxi-atlas). although u can just hide and you will be fine.

i did this as a 53thf/26nin. took me like 40 mins but i had to zone twice.

As I understand it, the item you have to find ina jar is the Power Sandles...
If you are any sort of a tank class, the +3 VIT is amazing! It is worth it to purposefully fail this quest in order to keep the sandles... loosing a few thousand (potentially) gil is nothing compared to an item like this. At level 20, this would boost my Paladin's Vitality up to 36... and with recent relavations as to how VIT works for tanks... this will help an incredible amount for killing those IT++ mobs

Yep. Too bad for Devean... he'll have to go without his sandals. My Mithra needs her vitality!

I'd like the link for the site of all the jar locations if you can find it. . . and 24 hrs game time is what? an hour? so that would change the whole feeling of the quest, since theres no choco stand in Selbina it'll take 15 mins just to get to Davoi and back another 15 so that'd only give you 30 mins to search -- on foot since its a dungeon.

Easy. Teleport Holla and get the chocobo there, and if you set your HomePoint in Selbina, you can warp back. (*· ·)b

The jar (for me at least) was located on the central island of Davoi, where the ruined monastery is.

It can only be reached by entering the Monastic Caverns via the entrance in Davoi H-11, then exiting the Caverns at the other end, which puts you on the central island in Davoi.

Also, the Power Sandals are wearable footwear, but is marked 'Rare' and 'Ex', so they cannot be sold or traded.

Thank you. This is where "my" jar is. I must have run circles around that island 15 times.
Can you keep the sandals?

Last time i went in davoi to do my paladin and that cure a cough quest (thyme moss) in davoi i saw a jaw, it was pretty close to the entrance too. When i clicked on it all it said was "this is a jar". I think that might of been it, i might try this quest today
cant find urn
# Jan 10 2004 at 11:07 PM Rating: Default
ive attempted this quest 4 times now, failed every time
searching every single area of davoi, including the central area you reach through monastic caverns, i could not find a single urn or ???

found many ! things that said you find a torn piece of paper, treasure chests, and storage holes.

never have seen the urn yet.

Ok, yeah raising Selbina fame does allow access to the quest. Is there a faq somewhere on the net listing all the Jar locations? I have done the quest 3 times and have only found the jar once.

you dont have high enough fame.
you need to do more quests in selbina, sandoria, and bastok.
most quests in final fantasy XI are based on fame not level. I got this quest at about level 6 or 7 because I did some quests in selbina and a bunch of quests in sandoria and a bunch of quests in bastok.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 01 2004 at 1:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I know he won't give it to you until after lvl20. That's the last lvl I remember checking before he gave it to me at lvl27.

Level has nothing to do with it. Its based on fame. I got it with my level 15 bard.
Where is the urn located?
# Dec 20 2003 at 4:56 AM Rating: Default
But where is the urn? So you can get alittle prepared of what you need to do...
RE: Where is the urn located?

The only thing that you need to be prepared for, sadly enough, IS DYING. I died 1 time and I was lucky. That was with help, also. It makes you feel like a mini PLD (I am already one...) (and I bet you all are also because truly I think this is like the best item ever for a PLD)
