Summary

Collect three stones of frigicite from fiend-infested caverns in the north. Bring them to Maat to further expand your innate limits.

Walkthrough

Activate the quest with Maat in Ru'Lude Gardens. He asks you to retrieve three pieces of Fragicite from Xarcabard.

Once you have activated the quest, travel to Xarcabard. The Fragicite are found in caves at I-6, J-7, and G-10. Each piece of Frigicite is guarded by a NM that has sneak and invisible detect. Simply defeat the NM, and quickly run in and touch the ??? to receive the rewards (key items):

1. Boreal Tiger. The reward is a Round Frigicite. 2. Boreal Coeurl. The reward is a Square Frigicite. 3. Boreal Hound. The reward is a Triangle Frigicite. Be careful, because these NMs have incredibly fast respawn rates (around 15 seconds). You may want to ask the Dragoons in the group to dismiss their wyverns so that you can easily target the ??? using F8 (otherwise you will probably end up targetting wyverns with F8). You will need a large alliance for these, or if you'd rather have high-level help, you will probably still need a full party of high-level players. The monsters are incredibly tough. Once you have retrieved the three pieces of Frigicite, simply return to Maat to complete the quest.

I completed G2 2 days ago as Lv55 RDM/22WHM. My lv75 Nin friend helped me.. It was sooooo easy. I stood back and just healed/enfeebled and enhanced, while Ninja kicked NM's ***. I mostly used Refresh and Stoneskin on myself, and on Ninja Haste, paralyna, silena, cures, and on the NM I used dispel, slow, paralyze, dia II As long as you have cures, paralyna and silena, its a piece of cake.... :)

I just saw my rdm54 buddy trio this with a nin75/whm and whm75/blm. Biggest problem they encountered was a powerful Paralyga, so far as I could tell.

You need only an 75RDM or NIN to beat the 3 NM... stand back and enjoy, you dont need an alliance with 18 ppl.
Only the way to Beaucedine (without crystal) is not easy, and always get sneak and invis on, but careful of the dark elements >_<
This is easy

You don't need an alliance or even a group to do this. I took my 75 NIN friend and he just beat them all by himself while I stood back and avoided any AoE attacks they might have. Very simple quest, took about 15 minutes and that's only because of the walking.

ok heres what im thinking, i know a few high lvl ppl (70-75) now lets say i get a few ninja friends to help me, maybe a pld too. could i have them attack the nms, i run in get the ???
run back to high lvl friends fighting the nm, and viola tele vahzl. Now move on to next nm, rinse and repeat. Is there any reason this wont work? ie.... ??? wont spawn until nm is almost dead.If the ??? is there the whole time all i really need is a distraction yes? utsusemi will absorb there too weak AM, and i can tele everyone out without major harm im hoping

I did this tonight on my 55 BLM/WHM with some help from a few friends. This quest suggests alot of high level help and we did it without either a high lvl tank or healer.
PT Setup:
55 BLM/WHM <me>
60 RDM/BLM Orco
68 THF/NIN Gocean
75 DRK/THF

The Coerl Tiger gave us the most trouble but the whole quest was done without resting once. New DMG record for me was on the DRK doing 3440 on the Boreal Hound. Have a competant party and this genkai is cake.

Did this last night, it was actually pretty easy here was my setup:
75RDM/DRK
72BLM/WHM
55BLM/WHM(me)
55WHM/SMN
54RDM/BLM
53?RDM/BLM
55?THF/NIN

Easily got to each NM w/o aggro, took out all three, and got the Fridgicites no problem.
Silence can u cast it on them

Bear with me here please...

Say I wanted to duo these mobs with my friend, at 55. 55BST/WHM and 55RDM/BLM-WHM-NIN..

I mean the mob is only level 58, there are 2 of us, 3 with a pet. Shouldn't in theory we be able to accomplish this?

From what I have read concerning this quest thus far, these mobs are some tough cookies. Assuming also that they do not kill us straight away with a swiftness, it would take us some time to wear them down in order to kill them true?

Please give opinion and insight. (:

Yeah... two words

Ancient Magic.

{Tornado} {Do you need it?} 700 damage, {Yes, please.} They also have high HP, and from what i've seen, love to resist silence.

I wouldn't try it.

Just completed this tonight on Gilgamesh - our set-up:

55 RDM (me)
71 PLD (husband)
54 THF
52 MNK
65 MNK
52 PLD
53 WHM
72 PLD

It was easier than expected, the 2 PLD's power was almost overkill. The hardest party was getting from mob to mob w/o too much aggro - but even that wasn't bad.

Thanks to everyone that came along to do this quest on the Fenrir server yesterday. I think we ended up with a full alliance mainly made up of whm/blm/pld and everyone who needed it got the quest done - it was good fun!

Big shout out to the high level help we got for this quest, especially Abbadon and Starkie - you guys are really cool we couldnt have done it without you

See you all around sometime!

ok, u DO NOT need an entire alliance for this or a ridiculous pt of 75's for this.....my setup was 55BRD, 55PLD(me), 72WHM, 72BLM, 69DRK, and a 73RDM, we straight owned these mobs. We took out the hound first it being the hardest, then tiger, then couerl, got easier and easier. Point is this isnt such a hard quest if ur organized and every1 does there jobs. LS harmony is the best<kujata server>..........even had to fight tiger twice cause i was distracted....didnt even rest cause it aggroed me when it popped......easy quest....just prepare=)

72 thf
71 pld
70 whm
55 sam
53 mnk
55 rdm
53 whm
EASY!

Just did this with this setup. Took a while to get setup but once we where in Xarcabard I'm pretty sure a 25 demon train wouldn't have even put us into yellow.

High Level Help
BLM66/WHM33
PLD67/WAR33
RDM56/BLM28
NIN75/WAR37
RDM63/BLM31
BLM68/WHM34
BLM71/WHM35

People That Actually Needed It
RDM54/BLM27
RNG53/NIN25
RNG53/NIN25
RNG55/THF27
DRK54/WAR27
BLM54/WHM27
BLM55/WHM27 <- ME

One more person had hidden stats and I forgot to ask.

All in all it was a success. No major issues. Let's just say keeping track of people and aggro is impossible.

SUP SUP fellow FFXI players,

I am currently a 55 Red Mage and I have a 53 Thief. I am looking to complete this limit break and would appreciate any help. I am on Hades and usually play Saturday and Sunday night (Late). If you would like to get a PT together and take these guys out please reply.

Thank you,

This was easy as pie for 75rng/nin, me (55war/nin at the time), 52 whm/smn, and a 55sam/war. That's it. One death cuz of wrong macro hit. ^ ^ Think he did 5k or so with slug shot on boreal hound.

I've heard many people say that these things are notorious for having sickly low defense...that is, it's easier to pull off huge dmg WS's on them than just about anything in the game...so...if I pull something huge I guess I shouldn't be too proud;)

Just did this last night... We had 65nin Zhayen, 61war Kentarosan, 55whm Rohoo and 54sam Unbeatablehonor (me). We each had 3 Pamama au Lait, 2 Hi-potions, 1 x-potion. Killed the Boreal Tiger with just us 4. A 67whm Atlimaser (sp?), came out and helped with the last 2. We did this with no problems. Just bring sneak/ invis to avoid aggro, have a gate crystal, with quest started. NM has true sight. We had time after the kill to get key item and heal there without any problem from NM respawning, but you should still be careful and grab key item ASAP. You do not need a full alliance, if you get a group that can play their jobs and that you trust. Good luck!!!
FUN FUN FUN

I did this last nite and had a blast doin it ! Had an alliance of 15 people. Three of them were high levels,69PLD,72RDM,68WHM,and a variety of tanks, melee and mages. A full alliance is not needed if you have some help like this, lol. But here is something you should make sure.
Before you get a full alliance goin ask everyone as they join if they have the vhazel crystal,we had 4 people that did'nt and had no maps. And on top of that they had never been to the glacier or xcabard ><. The map is quested in sandy at the castle if you need it and your fame has to be 5 or 6 to get the quest (do the bat wing quest to raise it fast).
Anyway we sent the people that did'nt have the crystal with a whm that new the way, meanwhile we filled the rest of the spots. The other thing is make sure melee brings some meat mithkabobs and you mages bring their pies. Also even if you have mages for sneak and invis bring some oils and powders with, you never know when it'll drop and if a mage will be there to recast.
Other than that you will have a good time beatin up the NM's.We had no problems with them and no deaths. And as far as getting to the ??? in time,we all disengaged when it was close to death and let the high levels finish it.This gave us an extra 5 seconds or so to get to it. The hardest one seemed to be the courel so pay attention when fighting that one. Good luck and have fun !!
