On the Conquest Update on Sunday (Japan 12AM on Monday), the Mog will tell you again that sleeping on the bed has made him homesick and requests you buy 1 Selbina Butter (200-400gil), and 1 Shrimp Lure (3.5-4k). It's not only the ranking of your nation and fame. I have max fame and Windurst was in first place both before and after, still no luck. It's also time based, the bed has to be in your mog house for a certain lenght of time before it will give you the quest.

Made sure my mog was at home, no change in rank/fame or anything else so that must've been it. Though I suppose it *is* possible the 2nd quest makes you go through two weeks, not sure.

Same here. I have lvl 7 fame in Bastok (home town) and Sandoria, lvl 5 fame in Windurst, and lvl 9 fame in Jeuno. On saturday afternoon, I set Bastok as my residency and left to exp all day in Altepa. Sunday morning, log in and choco'd back to Bastok (logged at Dem, was too tired to choco back that night), and nada.

Someone in my linkshell had to wait 2 weeks to get his quest as well. Since Bastok has never been in 1st place since I started the game a week after the NA release, and my entire LS is Bastokan, I'm quite certain conquest standings have nothing to do with it. I didn't have this problem at all with mog upgrade #1.

Here is the deal.

1st. You HAVE to have the required level of fame in your home city.

2nd. Your moogle HAVE to be in your home city's house. That means you CANNOT have rent-a-room service.

Level 6 fame, moogle was not at home during conquest and I laid the bed down about 6 hours before the update. Don't know whether it was the moogle thing or trying to cut it close on the conquest update.

To clear some things up:

If you have a ton of fame and still aren't getting the quest....

You receive the quest not only by fame, but by your nation being in 1st place in the NEXT conquest tally. If you're from Bastok on Diabolos, you're going to have to wait a long time. =(

If you buy the bed and put it in your mog while your nation is in 1st, you're still going to have to wait for the next tally.

This is incorrect information. My nation is not in first place and I recieved the quest. Also my friends reiceved the quest when their nation was not in first place. The second Mog House requires level 5 fame and the completion of the first Mog House quest. I've never seen anything else to be required for it.

High fame isn't the trigger, I have max fame and I still can't get it. There's probably some other quest somwhere that serves as a trigger for this one and nobody has figured out what it is yet.

The trigger to getting this quest is the first Mog House Expansions quest (Bronze Bed). This requires Level 5 fame in hometown and to have the bed in your mog house layout when the Tally is done. If you satisfy those conditions you should get this quest.

Hi, I'm no fame expert, but I think I have level 8/9 fame in San d'Oria. Fame guy says:
"Waters! People are talking about you! Every infant in his cradle knows your name!
And they hold you in highest regard! I am so proud of you! May your kind deeds continue!"
But yet I still am not getting the quest activated. I did the bronze bed quest. Mahogany is next correct? Can someone tell me why I can't? BTW - bed's been laid out for about 3 real weeks now. Thanks for any help.

How long after I give the mog the shrimp lure and selbina butter do I have to wait for him to give me the extra space? I gave him the stuff about 3 hours ago and he still didn't give me an expansion on my mog space.

Just finish this quest, it takes exactly 1 real day (24hrs) for the moogle to come back (for my case). And I was in the rented room in Jeuno when the moogle came back from his vacation..Kupo~

According to this thread:
You can get this quest with Lvl 5/9 fame. When I went to check my fame in San d'Oria, I got the message:
"Ah, xxx! You are famous in our kingdom!
Of you no ill is spoken. Give to the kingdom and she will give to you, no?"
On rally update, I got the cutscene when I talked to my Moogle.

Yes, I'm using the "normal" 9-tier fame chart. ;)
I have lv 6/9 ("...would have to live in a hole not to know Nigili"). So are you saying I need 7/9? That would explain alot...

Do you have to talk to the moogle right after the tally has been done or can it be at any time after the tally? I bought the bed, put it in the layout the day before the tally, left my character in my mog the night before while I slept, woke up to my character still in my mog on Sunday, the tally had been done, and he still didn't give me the quest. I have lv 6 fame at Windurst (my home town), rank 5, am lv 51, so I don't get it.
RE: Help!

Uhm...that's rank 6 of 8 fame... which translates to rank 7 of 9 (snicker) fame on the "normal" scale that everyone but barfy uses :)

I pretty much confirmed that the fame required to initiate this quest is level 6/8. For Windy: "People must be living in a hole to not know you..". I can pretty clearly say that it is *NOT* related to rank or to what place your nation finishes in conquest that week.

Evidence behind this conclusion:
Three friends (me, A, and R) all had mahogany bed in house for three weeks. To start we are all rank 3, 2 of us in windy and one in bastok.

First week none of us got the quest, A and I were fame 5/8 "There arent many Windustians who don't know that name", R was fame level 3-4/8 in bastok (hard to say since i havent found a reliable listing of true english translations for Bastok fame). Bastok was in first for this week.

Second week, A had increased his fame to 6/8 and his rank to 5. I was still same fame and rank and R had gone up a fame level (5/8 now?). Windy was in first for this week. Only A got the quest started.

Third Week: I increased fame to 6/8, but rank was still 3. R did not increase rank or bastok fame (still 5/8). Bastok was in first, Windy in third. The quest triggered for me, but not R.

Clearly from this evidence the postition of your country and your rank is irrelevant (actually I cant really prove anything about ranks 0-2, but I would doubt there is an effect). And the fact that the one common thing that changed in all the cases where the quest got triggered, and did not occur for all the cases where the quest didnt trigger is going from fame 5/8 -> 6/8. The assumption im making is that the quest is based off of your hometown fame, I wasnt monitoring fame in other countries closely for anyone but myself, although i do know that my fame went up one level in Bastok (3/8->4/8) and one level in Jeuno between the 2nd and 3rd week.

Note that the convention im using for fame measurement counts initial fame as 0/8, incrementing the rating by 1/8 every time the fame NPC upgrades what they say about you. This is merely a simple transformation to get to the 1-9 scale which some people use, and cuts much more to the heart of the matter tahn merely reporting the total number of quests done (since presumably quests add towards your fame differently based on their difficulty and or if they are repetitions).

your approach, tho scientific, is lacking. you have not stated which of you is from which nation, and you did not state which of you received the quest. you stated two of you are from windy, and when windy got first, one of you got the quest. you stated that one of you is from bastok but when bastok was in first one of you got the quest. you did not state if the one that got the quest first time is or is not from windy (2/3rd chance that the one who did, is) and then the second time one of you got the quest (1/2 chance) is or is not from bastok.

attempting to disprove that country rank is non-effecting with this approach also failed because you had multiple variables. you cannot 'scientifically' test the effect of two variables at the same time. you cannot assume that bastok rank did not trigger the bastoker's quest the first time but did the second time simply because bastok rank is or is not involved if, between the two tallys, the bastoker increased his bastok fame.

in that case, country rank may in fact have to do with it, but because you didn't have enough fame the first time, you didn't receive it anyway

QED: fame is a definite need for these quests, but to test the country rank theory, you would have to spend a LONG time in bastok at same fame(very high) to prove or dis-prove the rank theory. essentially, in my experience (6 characters across 2 servers in all 3 cities) fame AND country rank are involved.

sorry bout the repost, essentially i typed and then realized i didn't say what i came to say, so i've edited...

basically, this will be a topic of confusion for a LONG time, and even once we have it all figured out, another totally different 'generation' of people wanting to do these quests will develop their own theories and be just as confused about it then as we are now.

that's all there is to it

I have the Mahagony bed in my Moghouse, as for fame, I'm told

"Quite a few people are talking about the things you've done for Bastok. People are starting to talk about you. Keep on doing whatever you're doing!"

Anyone know how far I am from the 5th level of Fame?
Clearing confusion
# Jan 25 2004 at 5:25 PM Rating: Good
1. The Mahogany Bed needs to be in the Layout of your hometown Mog House BEFORE the tally.

2. It does not matter if you're checked into your hometown during the tally, if you go back and check in, the moogle will still give you the quest.

3. You do NOT need the Bronze bed.

4. However you need to have finished the Mog House 1 quest, which involves using the Bronze bed.

5. Your nation's rank does NOT matter.

6. Fame I'm still trying to confirm, as I did it moments ago and have level 5 fame for my hometown.

Hope this cleared up some confusion for peeps.

First in conquest points?
# Jan 25 2004 at 5:43 AM Rating: Decent
I did this quest, but it only activated when my home town got first place in the conquest for the week. The moogle was in my home town, as was I (in my MH, but off-line) when the conquest tally took place.

It was pretty rare for my home town to come in first also, first time since the US release.. so it was wonderful timing. But can anyone confirm that this is a requirement for it?
