Walkthrough

Orc Crest

=== NOTE: You will need Invisibility for this entire section

- Travel to Davoi, once in Davoi, go to the Zone entrance of Monastic Caverns at H-11

- Zone back to Davoi at the SW corner of I-8. At this point you will be in the house area at the center of the Davoi map.

- Head East across the bridge and then north onto the top of the fort at J-8 to a Tarutaru.

At this point, one person will need to do the mini-quest to get the Crimson Orb at this point to proceed farther. Speak to the Tarutaru to receive the quest. You must touch the Banishing Gate in Davoi before the Taru will give you the mini-quest.

The mini-quest basically tells you to go to the 4 red pools in Davoi. The pools are located at the NW corner of H-10, the NE corner of L-9, NW corner of E-8, and the last one which is not displayed on the map by yellow is found by following the river at H-6 north and to the east. WARNING: When you dip the orb into the 4th pool it curses you, so plan accordingly. Return to the Tarutaru with the Orb to receive the Crimson Orb.

- At this point proceed to the Banishing Wall at the SW corner of J-9 and have the person with the Orb open the gate by clicking on it. This will open a hole in the wall which anyone can walk through. WARNING: This room is populated so if you are doing this alone, make sure all the orcs are looking away when you drop invisibility to use the orb. The zoneline is only a few feet past the wall so if you do get aggro you can run for it.

- Once you've zoned over to Monastic, it's located just after you cross into J-6 on a ledge to the left.

-- Quadav Crest

=== NOTE: You will need Sneak only for this entire section. You also need to be doing, or have completed the Rank 5 Magicite mission to be able to complete this part.

Helpful information: - Mute machines silence you - Afflictor machines curse you - A silenced person can't be cursed by the afflictor - Echo drops remove silence

~~~ - Head to Beadeaux
- Once inside, follow the Tunnel down at H-7 (1st map), then proceed to the tunnel up at F-8 (2nd map).
- Once up top again, hug the right wall to the ramp at E-10 (1st map), then take one of the ramps in the northeastern half of this map at either (K-7) or (J-7) to get back to the lower level. Once there, take the tunnel down at section K-6 (1st map).
- Once below again, follow the path to M-8 (2nd map) and then zone over into Qulun Dome.
- The crest is located on the borderline of I-6/7. In the first room is most likely an NM, so make sure he's wandering away from the door before you try to run through this room. In the 2nd room, all the NM's are generally at the far north side of the room.
Yagudo Crest
=== NOTE: You will only need Invisibility for this entire section, please don't step near the leeches.
Important information:
  • It is imperative that you start this quest at the very beginning of a new game day as the passwords will change every day. (more on that below)
    • This section can not be completed by a single person unless you have some sort of movement enhancement (flee, strider boots, Ninja AF boots
etc..)
- Head to Castle Oztroja
- For the first part you will need to find out what the password of the day is, which requires collecting the information from 3 brass statues.
- Head to the SE corner of H-8 and open the brass door. Click on the statue inside to receive the 1st password.
- Now head to the door at I-8 and then go up the stairs to the 2nd map (Remember the 2nd map as I'll be referencing it later). On this map, head to the exit at G-7 and zone over onto the next map. On the next map head north to I-7 and zone over to yet another map. Now head to the SE corner of H-9 and open the brass door and receive the 2nd password from the statue. (Note: If you've done the paladin AF2 quest, this is the exact same spot you were sent to fish)
- Proceed back along the same path to the 2nd map. (The one I told you to remember) The 3rd statue is located on the NW corner of I-8. If you've never experienced this section of the map before there are blocker points preventing most of the "obvious" paths and forcing you to walk around the outside.
Now that you have visited 3 statues, you should have 3 passwords. The ones I collected from multiple visits are Mong, Deggi, Duzu, Mjuu, Ouzi, Xicu, Ovzi, Buxu, Haqa, Gadu, Puqu, Duxo, Zhuu. You may receive other ones but write those 5 down in case the day flips over and you have to "guess" later on in the quest.
At this point you can actually go get the crest.
- From the 3rd statue point head west to the 4 lever door at the SW corner of G-8. To be honest I have no clue what the correct sequence of levers is, but I found that if I randomly flip them it generally opens the door. Once through the door, head up the stairs and zone over (G-9) onto a new map.
- The next map is pretty straightforward, just remain invis and don't step on the Yagudo Parasites (leeches), and proceed to the next map at H-11.
- You want to proceed through the Brass door at H-7 from here. In order to do that you must have someone light one of the 4 torches.
- There are torches at G-7, G-8, H-7, and H-8 in each of the small rooms. From my experience they all do the same thing, which once lit opens the brass door at H-7. This is where you need the 2nd person. One person lights the torch, the 2nd person goes inside (The door can be opened from inside). The Yagudo in the torch rooms operate on sight only so if you wait patiently for them to face the walls you can drop invis, light the torch, and re-invis. You can do this part solo with flee.
- Once through the door, there will be a wooden plank with a red circle (trap door) in front of a Brass Statue. Have everyone stand on the plank and have click on the statue and input the passwords (Order doesn't matter). The trap door will open and everyone will fall through to the bottom. Don't worry about invis, the bottom of the trap door is safe. Be sure to put it back up afterwards however.
Note: If you've taken too long and a day has passed, the passwords may have changed. Try a few of the 5 I provided in addition to your own and hopefully you can get through. If not, enjoy visiting the statues again.
- Once everyone has dropped down through the trap door, you will see a long corridor leading to a large room with a series of ramps up to a center platform. The ??? to get the Yagudo crest is located on the central platform. At this point you'll need to keep a lookout for the Yagudo NM (Generally the High Priest).
- Wait for the Yagudo NM to be sufficiently far away from the center platform, then travel up the ramps to the center platform, standing "behind" any regular Yagudo which may be on that platform, drop invis, click the ??? and re-invis.
- If you are in a large group, I highly suggest you send people up one at a time so that if they get aggro, they can run to the base of the ramp and die in a suitable fashion and not kill everyone, but still be within tractor range.
Once you have all 3 crests return and speak to Maat to raise your level limit.
Sneak and curse near the Qulun Dome
Some advice for the quadav section: You may have noticed, but the quadavs are rather difficult. Ipso facto, if you lose sneak, you're dead. I noticed, that at the last section before the Qulun Dome, if you do NOT get silenced, curse will wear off just before you hit the zone. This was handy because of the quadav in the small room in the middle of the afflictors. There you have it, minimal inconvenience, low chance of death.
How to Get 'Crimson Orb'
Repeatable NO, Only Once
Place / NPC Place: J-8 / NPC: Sedal-Godja
Walkthrough To have examined 'Wall of Banishing' at J9 in Davoi.
This quest is not listed on the offer list
Go to Monastic Cavern from H-11 in Davoi and pass through I8 in Monastic Cavern, and go to the central stage in Davoi.
From the central stage in Davoi, go to J-9 in Davoi and examine the 'Wall of Banishing' there.
Talk to Sedal-Godjal at the big tower J-8 in the north in Davoi, and receive a 'white orb'.
1 - Examine the 'Screaming Pond' at E-8 in Davoi to dye it and get the 'pink orb'.
2 - Examine the 'Howling Pond' at H-10 in Davoi to dye it and get the 'red orb'.
3 - Examine the 'Groaning Pond' at I-6 in Davoi to dye it and get the 'blood orb'.
4 - Examine the 'Wailing Pond' at L-9 in Davoi to dye it and get the 'curse orb'.
* Watch out because you will be weakened as soon as it becomes the 'curse orb'. The order to dye the orb had better be the above-described order, because you had better dye it at the pond L9 when you get weakened.
After talking to Sedal-Godjal at the 'big tower' J-8 in Davoi, get the 'crimson orb' and complete the quest.
Afterwards, you can go through the barrier, the 'Wall of Banishing' at J-9 in Davoi. (The Boss Area)
Reward Ability to go futher from the Wall of Banising at J9 in Davoi. (Boss Area)
------------
I did the whole thing with a level 60 chara and didn't get aggro near any of the pools. There were some Orcs that were DC as I wandered, so make sure you keep an eye out for these.
All other info seems to be covered here, so I won't be redundant. Happy Adventuring.
Ok here is the easiest way to do this damn thing. You will prizm powders about 2 stacks for safety, 1 stack of silent oils, 2 echo drops, 3 warp scrolls. Make sure you have current maps and use the directions listed above and use the password list that is also provided. You can do this solo in about 90 minutes. you will also need someone to help you with castle or the ability to flee somehow someway. I went as a 60rng/30nin and as a 59blm/29whm.
First thing before you go search in Davoi and ask people with they have the orb, if not it is going to take you longer. There was a 75 something named Magicmage (thank you) who had the Crimson Orb. You need that to get through the banidh wall. Follow the wall and stay away from the open areas. The ??? does not have any orcs around them so it is safe to drop invisible. Once you get the crest, warp back.
Second place to go to is Castle Oztroja. This is where you going to need flee ability or a friend. Go straight for the 4 torch door. You only need to light one, I was trying to light all of them and failing. There was 3 japanese 75 in the area and they were no luck. You have to light a torch and flee back to the door to make it in. Take your time on the passwords, no particular order, you do however have to start over each time you get one wrong, jus like simon. Once you get the 3 word you drop down. This area I was prepared to die. There is a High Priest that stands right on top of the crest. Invisible yourself and jus go for it get the crest and start warping out if you die, oh well I can understand. I lucked out I was just far enuff away that he didnt see me. That was fun
Last place I went to was Beaud place. With all the Quadav. My suggection is to get the Mute on you, this way you dont get cursed. You have echo drops if you need them, but you shouldnt. Use the silent oils. Make sure if you see a curse thing look for the mute one and take the silence. Be careful of the NM in the area, they have jewelary names, so check them before you move on. The crest does not have a NM around it so stick to the walls and go for it. Then warp back. Then you are done.
Aggroed with invis o_ô
# Oct 02 2005 at 8:58 AM Rating: Decent
I just soloed the Davoi part as RDM60/BLM30. After i walked through the banish gate and zoned into the Cavern, i recasted invis and began to run to the ???.
In the Area where the Map is very unsharp, i got aggro by 3-5 VT Orcs (i didnt count them but it were definately more than 2).
Thank god i hat Stoneskin+Blink up, so i kept running to the ??? with the Orcs on my *** cause i was very close anyway.
I clicked it, got the Crest and activated my panic Macro (Chainspell -> Escape) and was back in the Forest with 230/920 HP and the Crest in my bag.
I don't know why they aggroed me with invis, maybe you need snk there too, but i recommend all RDMs who want to solo it, set up a panic macro like mine and put Soneskin & Blink up when you enter the Cavern after the Banish Gate :)
Posting on the NM in Beaduex section. All the guide says is: - In the first room is most likely an NM, so make sure he's wandering away from the door before you try to run through this room.
The "NM" is the Ruby Quadav. I was looking for a special name and didn't see it, so I ran for the door. -2000xp for me. Yay. Update the guide please.
There are a few NMs, Ruby Quadav, Adaman Quadav, and I think Diamond Quadav. And god forbid Za'Dha Adamantking is up. XD It does say in the guide that there's an NM in there; it's not their fault you didn't check the mobs just because they had normal sounding names. Next time be more careful. :P
Also, if you want them to update a guide, don't just post there and act like the admins will happen by and see it. Use the 'Submit a correction' link under the guide. :P
I believe it is refering to the Adaman Quadav. It was in the room with the ??? when I went through here this evening.
I soloed it tonight as a 57RDM/BLM 28. No agro, just make sure you time it right and don't jump the gun when dropping invisible, or waiting for true sight mobs to move. Either way it can be nerve wracking, and I was set with the Chainspell/Warp macro, believe that...lmao
Just Finished Last Night
# Sep 19 2005 at 12:42 PM Rating: Default
Last night 3 of us went to do this quest. A lvl 75blm/37whm, me a 60whm/30blm, and a 59whm/29blm did this in about an hour and a half. We dinked around a lil bit other wise we woulda had it done a lil quicker. The crest in davoi i thought was the hardest, it took us longer to get through that one then anything else. The one trough beaudoux was much easier then davoi, and the one in astroja was the easiest of all three. We had pretty much started with the hardest one first. but we had done this so late that by the time that we got done, we all warped back home and went to bed, now i am off to actually finish the quest lol. Thanx again Draguson.
Did this today we had 6 people, started off with 7 but the JP Warrior was tele'd and went AFK for the next hour.
It was mainly all LVL 66-60's apart from a PLD 65 who offered to help. Thank you Virgil on Valefor. Took me about 20mins to make the party so not very long really.
As a PLD i was sure to take plenty of sneak oils and powders, you really cannot rely on mages to cast sneak or invs on you. This mission is hard and they can do without the added stress it creates.
Davoi was quite straight foward, stick to the directions offered here and you can't go far from. After the orb is traded though be sure to walk through the barrier, you dont have to click on it if someone already has in your party. Quickly zone the mobs and head on to the key item.
Beaudeax was a little more difficult. I was getting cursed 24/7 but once again directions given were ok. The key item is surronded by quads but since you only need sneak you can hit it without any trouble.
Oztroja is the worst of them all, horrible place. Everything is simple until you hit the torches, they are guarded by 3 yags and you will need to wait till they are ALL facing away, drops invs, select then re-cast. I got away lucky but it could easily have turned nasty.
I used the list of passwords given, took me about 5 mins but i finally got it right lol. All that remained was the last key item being guarded by the true sight Yag NM. The plan was for the 65 PLD to voke the NM while we got the orb the chainspell escape. RDM paniced and ran to the key item, then warped out on his own. I got the item, without any aggro amazingly then the WHM and the other PLD escaped to safty with me alongside. Sadly the NM got 1 last cast and the WHM died of dia on the otherside.
Still pritty tence!
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2005 at 3:13 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i would like to get this quest done, but unfortunatley you have to be rich and willing to pay 50k+ PER item. This is fricking rediculous. I did shouts asking for help on this for over half an hour and got NOT ONE response. I then just for the hell of it, offered 50k per item, and everyone and their brothers jumped in at the request. It is just unforunate that all you ppl can do is think about yerselves and all the gil you can possibly get yer greedy lil hands on. I mean come on people, this game was built on teamwork NOT payin ppl to do stuff for you.If i woulda actually paid someone to do this quest for/with me i would be out over 200k and i do NOT have that kind of gil. unlike a lot of you people who are doing stuff the easy way and BUYING yer gil just tog et what you want, that is why prices are so damn outrageous on my server. If it wasn't for gill sellers everything would be a heck of a lot cheaper, and people wouldn't have to be paying other people to help them as much. anyway i just had to vent on this subject, a lot of steam on that one had to be released lol.
Um... what the ****? You get angry because people aren't like "Oh yes my lord, I will drop everything I am doing to aid your wishes"
Grow the **** up. Get some other people who also need it done and do it together. Not shout for some bored lv75 to hold your hand through it.
I am not asking anyone to just drop what they are doing. All that i am saying is that i shouldn't have to pay someone EVERY time i need to get a quest done, there is a difference. And seeing that you are a lvl 75 whm, you out of all people should know what it is like not being able to kill much with it.so why don't you just take a chill and not read so much into things.
1) I soloed this as a 61WHM.
2) I could solo this as a 25WHM.
3) 75WHM can solo a lot more than you think, fighting-wise.
You wanted someone to hold your hand through something that any WHM25 or RDM25 could solo. You don't have to fight a single thing.
It is possible to s/i your way around to each of the ??? spots, as well as solo the orb miniquest in Davoi. It isn't easy; it -does- requite conscious thought and attention, but it is doable.
Why you would pay anything to anyone to do something you could solo is beyond me, and why you're getting pissed that random strangers won't help you for free eludes me even more.
Gates position ?
# Aug 17 2005 at 5:51 PM Rating: Decent
please im in davoi now... i need to touch the banishing gates... can someone tell me whats the gate's position?
RE: Gates position ?
# Aug 20 2005 at 10:09 AM Rating: Decent
Well, when you go through the Monastic Cavern to get to the house area, the banishing gate is just due South from the Taru mage. Be careful, the Orcs in that area are very strong there, and usually 2-3 roam tha area in front of the gate. I was a lvl 57 WHM with 2 lvl 60 DRKs doing this. We dropped invis to examine the gate before talking to the Taru, and we got aggroed. We could not defeat the Orc's, so we had to warp out.
Also, when you head into that banished gate after you have dipped the orb into all 4 ponds, be careful in the cavern, and stick to the left or right wall. An orc down there aggroed me even though I had invis on and I got killed in 2-3 hits.
I am soloing this now, got the orc camp one done but got nailed by an angry bunch of high orcs when my invisibilty failed while I was helping a Red Mage also get through. I swear that invisiblty fades faster when you have many high level mobs staring at you, it stays on for ages when I'm not around anything :)
Theres also one NM Orc who can see through invisibilty, so give all Orcs a wide berth while stealthing it through the last area.
I really hate the round-about routes in Beadeaux, the place is a bloody maze...
After reading the list that is contained in the walkthrough, and the ones I gathered on my trip, I have concluded that the passwords are all the second names of NM Yagudo (e.g. Deggi is from Mee Deggi the Punisher). I went through and looked up all the NM Yagudo and compiled this list:
Duzu, Mon, Buxu, Mjuu, Puqu, Ouzi, Deggi, Domi, Haqa, Huja, Xalmo, Xolo, Paqa, Zeni, Kofu, Xicu, Nawa, Doko, Jaha, Tolu, Mihi, Xowu, Keja.
There are 23 there in that list, so if you plan on just rushing to it or your day runs out, you can use those. The room where you enter them is clear, so you won't have to worry about aggro. I was lucky enough to ride the coattails of another duo that was doing it at the same time. Good luck to all. ^_^
I'm almost done with this quest. Just need the orc crest and it's over.
I started with Castle O. Player around with the four lever door, got in, and cast invisible. At the top there was a party farming keys/scrolls/other things of goodness, and a rdm went inside to hit the switch while I lit a torch to open the door. I didn't bother checking the satues for passwords, I just entered them from a list a friend of mine on the LS sent me. None of them worked. Turns out that the first letter has to be upper case. I fall through the trap door, and I get the crest. It's located straight infrount of you. This is where the problem happened. I couldn't find a way out. I'm not even sure there is one. So after a little bit of looking I decided to cast lulaby on a High Priest. I didn't know that lulaby could be absorbed by shadows.... An Avatar link in and I was dead in three hits. I lasted a bit longer that I thought I would.
Now to Beadux. At 58 there's no aggro until you get to the "second" prtion of the map. Then things start becoming ep. The hard part about this was that sneak doesn't write over it's self like invis does. In the dome, I didn't bother with silence since I had cursena, and I used that spell a lot through out the quest. Through the dome, I believe it was a right, then the crest was in the back left. Adaman and Diamond Quadeve were both up and I wasn't sure about true sight/sound so I hit my warp scroll and was out.
Davoi was easy for the most part. Talk to the taru, touch the wall, get orc aggro, use instant warp scroll, end up dead in juno, get a R3 from a nice whm, talk to the taru again.the north and east pools had all TW mobs to me, the other two were EP. I go to get into the cave, and as I try to trade the orb, I get aggro and I'm back in Juno.
I'll be going back next time I'm on >.<
W00t^^ Just finished this literally 5mins ago =D
A few tips on gettin it done ;)....
Davoi____________
Make sure you wait until the orcs turn round...they WILL turn round and look away from you when you need to touch the gate for first time! Sometimes took a couple of rounds of invisi though ><
The ??? isnt on the hill where the first set of nm's stand either. I stood for about 30mins tryin to target the ??? so i knew where i was goin, without being seen by the nm's ><
There is a tunnel through the back of the big room with ANOTHER set of nm's....4 NM's with truesight in total to avoid ; ;
But luckily the ??? is just inside the tunnel on the left, and the warlord and hexspinner stand further down normally giving you a bit of time^^
Beadeaux_____________
Found this one very easy...had it finished in around 15mins from when i went in. Make sure you get silenced rather than cursed...a lot easier.
there are plenty of places to recast sneak also - just make sure to use them.
the ??? is at the back of the room on the right when you enter.
One tip - there is a mute before you head on the home straight...cast sneak, use it and leg it, as there are around 5 afflictors before the door!! >:(
Castle Oztroja_________
I bought powder boots especially for this, but it turned out a high lvl pt were hunting the high priest, so they allianced me in, and let me tag along ^0^ Thanks again guys =D
Sweet...i had the list of codes printed off from another post here...make sure to have them at hand. the 1st and 3rd statue were fairly easy to get at, so i had the passwords anyway, leaving only the 2nd one to guess^^
I couldnt find the 2nd statue ; ;
but thanks to the list i never needed it!
I watched them kill the high priest then ran my *** up to the top middle to get the ???
So, to b fair i couldnt really give advice on this other than have the passwords at hand, powder boots, or flee ability (although i dont think u need them!!) i was in a room when the torch was lit, then still managed to leg it to the door before it closed, but i did have invisi up...
So pretty much soloed it - the mini quest in davoi was fairly easy if you wait for orcs to turn round, and that was the toughest bit i found =P
Good luck to all who try this, but you wont need it ;)
Are you referring to beadeax or some other curse
"Helpful information:
- Mute machines silence you
- Afflicator machines curse you
- A silenced person can't be cursed by the afflictor "
It doesn't mention you have to allow yourself to be silenced from the mute. you will get cursed if you are not silenced when you want into range of Afflicator. if you are referring to some other curses I am not sure where you encountered it. If your melee silence is golden if you're a caster get silenced (tough the mute)and use the echo drops(when you get to destination or need new sneak) after a fresh sneak, the mp and hp loss from cures adds to quite a bit of downtime, esp at high levels.
And yes you do get cursed cursna or holy water will cure.
