lvl 55-63 pt
# Feb 13 2005 at 4:02 AM Rating: Decent
We had lvl 55-63, and a lvl 74 BLM:

WHM RDM NIN PLD MNK SAM
WHM PLD BLM BLM THF RNG
WHM THF SAM PLD PLD WAR

One PLD in each PT was assigned to a gob, and then the WAR voked. We all went after the WHM first, then the RNG, then the THF. We took the WHM out without incident, but one of the PLDs died while fighting the RNG (and it was the PLD who wasn't assigned to tank one... we're still scratching our heads on that)

Sleep and Bind don't work. You'll either need good tanks, or need to kite. A pop at the end would have messed it up a bit, but I did Stoneskin and Flashed it, which kept it busy until we could finish off the THF.

The key concepts are:
1) Barfira/Carol
2) Take them one at a time.

With a high level Barfira, plus Fire Carol if available, the bombs don't do much damage. My party, mostly ~60, was taking ~20 damage from each bomb.

I went in a 12-person alliance; we had RDMs kite the RNG and THF (Gravity'd the THF, didn't bother on the RNG) and it went very smoothly.

Just did this tonight. We totally pwned those 3 gob NMs. Although they did a lot of bomb toss, we had Barfira and/or Fire Carol up so the bomb dmg was nothing (thanks to Valyana Sage's advice ^^). All of our alliance members HP never seemed to decrease, except our RDM who tanked the gob RNG almost died of its Eagle Eye Shot. I was so worried about the gob WHM would Bene, because we really did not pull them apart. But we pwned the gob WHM so fast that it did not even have the time to Bene. Basically, we kill the WHM (Doglix) first -> RNG (Moxnix) second -> THF (Picklix) last. Picklix used Perfect Dodge about 1/2 health and we could not hit a squat, but once it was gone, we pwned it again like the rest.

Our alliance config is:

first party
74 RDM (tanked the gob RNG first)
73 PLD (tanked the gob THF first)
60 WHM
60 Brd

second party
75 Ninja (tanked the gob WHM)
74 WHM
72 Monk
60 Monk
60 RDM
60 War (me)

Overrall, the fight was so easy with the above alliance config that it was so sur-real. (^^;)

P.S. After the fight was over, some alliance members insisted me on clicking the ??? again while I was trying to zone to Qufim. I ran back, clicked on the ??? again and nothing happened. I then zoned to Qufim, got a cutscene and my AF3. (^^;)

Just got this one done tonight. Had a full alliance with probably 7 or 8 above 70 I would guess. Some were /anon so I couldn't be certain. Anyway, I believe there were 3 or 4 of us who needed to complete the quest. The fight only needed to be done once, and you do not need to click on the ??? again post battle. When you zone back into Qufim, a cut scene happens that finishes with you receiving the Fighter's Lorica. For all of you on Valefor who helped out with this, thank you so much! /bow /kneel

Helped a JP alliance with this today. It was fun, but they didn't really know what to do. They were all saying to get the whm first, and then when they popped, everyone went after something different ; ; I ended up grabbing the whm, and instinctively started moving back away from the other ones. I turn around and the MAGES are standing behind me. The goblin of course throws his bomb at that exact moment. Luckily nobody died but the mages were a mess. I felt bad and I was so confused.. nobody yelled at me which was good. We beat it and the WAR thanked me and now one more honey hume female with midriff in Vanadiel. woot.
??? is at K-9

First off, the ??? is located in K-9, not K-6 as stated above

ok, at the time i was a 58was/29nin
we got a full alliance with majority of ppl around 60, give a take a few levels
there was also a 73 rdm that helped us out
our alliance was melee oriented with only 1 smn, 1 blm, 1 whm, and the rdm. another whm not in the alliance happening along helped with the healing

our strategy was for each pt to take one goblin each
we built up tp by killing mobs around the area
one of the wars ( there were four who needed it) touched the ???
the gobs spawned and the respective tanks voked their gob
and separated them so that everyone would not be hit by their bombs
my pt had the pleasure of raping Doglix
he was dead really quick, even after it used benediction
then my pt moved on to Moxnix, the rng
the pt had him down to half health and then we my pt came, it died really quick
finally it was picklix's turn, we was down to around half health as well, but he died really quick with 18 ppl raping him

some other online guides say to check the ??? again after killing them, but nothing special happened, no key item, no cutscene, no nothing
we proceeded to zone and got the cutscene and lorica ^^

all in all, it was an really easy fight, just have each pt have at least a healer and a tank and a good strategy
two ppl did die though
the war tanking the rng gob died really early in his fight? eagle eye shot maybe? i dont know but that seems the most logical
also the rdm unfortunately died just before we killed off the thf gob. i think he used chainspell and nuked it liked crazy which gave him lotsa and hat and thus death

also, if there are more that 1 warriors, you need to fight the goblins only once

Line up:

Party1: PLD(75), BLM(75), BLM(65), BRD(71), DRK(62), RDM(62)

Paryt2: War(62)

Try #1:
We had our WAR pop the 3 goblins. Had the lvl 75 BLM bind 2 of 3 NM, which did not work very effectively cuz bind broke after 3 seconds. Trained 2 of 3 NM to the zone leaving only the RNG gob for the remainder of us to kill. By the time we finished with the ranger, our lvl 75 BLM zoned in and soloed the WHM gob with his 2hour. We killed 2 of the 3 goblins but the 3rd(THF) despawned. Yes, they do despawn if they are not active for a while.

Try #2:
This time we had our WAR/NIN kited the THF gob around the two rocks near the ??? for pop.
While the two BLM kept the WHM busy with sleep and bind.
Our PLD and DRK killed the THF with no problem.
The RDM kept refresh on the PLD and the Casters and healed the Kiting WAR/NIN.
The BRD just went back and forth Ballad the BLM and the PLD and DRK.

After PLD and DRK took care of the THF gob, they went to help with the WHM gob which was maintained by the 2 BLM. The WHM gob 2hr and took a while to kill, but everything was under our control at this point and we finished off the WHM and the RNG mob easily after that.

We also used this configuration to get RNG AF3 and we will attempt to do DRK and RDM AF3.

Update:
Obviously, not everyone will get help from 17 other people or lucky enough to get help from lvl 70+.

Face to face fight:
If I had a full alliance I would personally kill WHM>RNG>THF in that order.

Kiting method for less people alliance:
The RNG is fair easy to kite because it stops and tries to shoot you which gives you time to run away and cast your ninja stuff. Have a WAR/NIN provoke and kite them around.

The WHM is also easy to kite because it tries to nuke you with WHM magic which you can outrun if you are fast enough. Just make sure you keep it provoked and the kiter is far from the other goblins so the WHM gob can't use benediction or heal the hurt goblins.

The remainder force will take on the THF while the 2 kiters do their thing. After you are done with the THF, you can go ahead with the WHM and then Ranger.

Also, it is important to keep these kiters alive, so toss them some heals. They WILL get hurt. If they die, means 2 angry goblins will attack the main fighting force.

THF(kill first)> RNG(KITE)> WHM(KITE FAR AWAY, so it can't heal)

*Kiting = running the monsters in circle so they can't hit you.

Hope this helps!

Good luck.

I've tried twice to get Japanese Behemoth people to help with no luck, wish I knew some japanese. Also helped people with PLD AF3 and DRK AF3 in hopes that I can talk the alliance into staying together for warrior AF3 with no luck >_<. Anyways i'm going to give it a shot this weekend with LS people and hopefully random helpful people who join. I was wondering does the tank dealing with the Rng gob usually always die after eagle eye shot? is there a way to avoid this? Would an utsusemi tank be better for him?
Wish me luck!

Well if you've got very high level friends that are willing to help, then you don't need a full alliance, but if you're doing this at level 60, you should know a lot of people who are around your level and with some effort can get an alliance together for doing lots of people's AF3. It takes a while to do multiple AFs but more people are willing to help if you're willing to help them with their AF, too.

Honestly, it's not the responsibility of the high levels to help you. If they do, that's nice of them, but you really can't expect them to. They've got stuff they want to do, too.

Almost everything that you need to do is possible to clear without high level help. It's just harder.

you can load up with blm and drks with stun, sadly you can't stop all the bombs because of the recast timer

the gobbies put down 8 bombs, and i ended up dying on the final bomb despite the whm using curaga throughout the fight. the whm in our party didn't have benediction ready, which made the difference.

you might as well gather up all your high level buddies and do this as early as you can because you'll likely die, and i'd rather do it in the low 50s when exp penalties aren't as excessive as the high50s. the lvl 60 war in the party also died in this fight (he took business end of the rng gob eagle eye shot).

During the fight, ignore the rng and thf gob and go for the whm. when fighting the whm gob, hold all your weaponskills (use flat blade if they want to go gob bomb) until it uses benediction. i waited for that move then sneak attack+sturmwind for 700 which essentially wiped out the hp it recovered with benediction. when you fight thf gob when it uses perfect dodge the blm needs to nuke it. perfect dodge doesn't protect against magic.

Just finished this quest today. ^^ Was great fun, even though it was horribly deadly cause we didn't seperate the Goblins quite far enough.. ^^;

Got about 15 or 16 people for it, a lot of us, myself included, died during the fight due to the sheer amount of bombs.. -_-;

Anyway, it was horribly chaotic and scary but the most fun I've had for a while. Definately take out the WHM first, then the RNG, then the THF.

Last but certainly not least, I'd like to thank everyone who helped me get this quest done.

Some of particular note:

Nightblade - Fellow Warrior who helped me with AF2 as well. Love the Haubergeon. /salute :D

Vladamier - Leader of my static party and awesome Thief. Keep on SATA-ing me :O

Neese - White Mage of our static, great MP management and keeps the party going ^^

Hailstorm - He fell asleep at his comp when we were leaving. Ranger of our static, damn powerful little guy..

Trexina - Black Mage of our static, love the hat ^^ Thanks for the warp II's and escapes, you've saved us so many times

Laine - Dark Knight who I helped out with his AF3, can't wait to see you in that helm

Boppin - You're a filthy-minded Red Mage and you know it, Bopp >.> /poke

Dude you can just go around expecting things of lv 70+ and especialy the japanese. It doesnt work that way. Get a few friends, generaly that helps for getting things done. Tell me, what have you done to help them and/or what could you do?......My point exactly.

Just wanted to confirm this, also. K-9 is the correct coordinates for the ??? point to spawn Doglix and his buddies. Also, just so people don't spend time looking around for "some white bones", the ??? point is in the corner at K-9 where the rock wall meets the white "crag material", cermet, whatever you want to call it.

When the player completing this quest triggers the ??? point the three goblins spawn directly behind him or her. Thanks to those who left the tips on how to handle this battle.

Our alliance assigned one party to each gob with main tank, healer, and DD members. Each party grabbed one gob and pulled it away from the others to take them down separately, then as each one went down, that party joined one of the others to finish off the rest. It's definitely good to assign each tank to grab a specific gob prior to spawning them, as it cuts down immensely on confusion.

Thanks very much to all those who came along on this battle! No deaths, and it went very smoothly.

Thank you to everyone on Garuda who helped out on this this evening!

A tip on alliance formation... because this NM fight is very near the location of DRK AF3, if you can coordinate your efforts with any ~60 DRKs your recruiting power is increased. My alliance did the drk fight first (and it was substantially easier than this).

Our alliance setup was the following:
PT1: whm, rdm, blm, rng, drk, mnk ...levels 56-60
PT2: whm, drk, rng, thf (lvl58-60) and 70+ pld and 70+ rdm
PT3: rdm, war (me), drk, mnk, drg ...levels 56-60
...I was worried the setup was short on casters, but we ended up find with zero deaths.

Random battle tips:
-The more people who have 2hr available, the better. Rdms converting is, as always, very useful.
-Clear the area of bats and weapons to make things a bit simpler (also nice for building TP)
-Assign tanks for each gob in advance, and make sure you pull the gobs apart. This way the bomb throwing will hurt fewer people and benediction from the whm gob won't be as effective.
-You'll most likely want to kill the whm goblin first, followed by the rng, followed by the thf. Note they will all use 2hr ability and are apt to throw a whole lot of bombs.

Our random battle strategy:
-The 70+ pld voked the whm, I voked the thf, and the 70+ rdm (w/ blink, stoneskin, phalnax) 'temporarily soloed' the rng.
-With a tank assigned to each gob and a healer for each, the rest of the alliance focused on killing them one at a time in a massive rush. Whm > rng > thf.
-We pretty much skipped any finesse with SCes/MBes and just beat the hell out of them as quickly as possible.

So this was our 'plan'... although the key to this seems to be that as long as you're well-organized, have at least 3 tanks, and at least 3 people who can heal heavily, you can deal with killing them as you please. If each of our PTs had been equally balanced, I'm sure we could have sent 1 pt after each gob, although I feel sending a majority of your damage-dealing after one at a time reduces the total number of bombs thrown at you (which is the real threat in this battle).

Will having a Bard along help? Has anyone successfully slept two and fought the other (a la BCNM40 - Giddeus), or is this pretty much hold on for your dear life and try to handle all three at the same time?

This is my only AF left, so any help or hints is most certainly welcome.

If you speak a bit of japanese, this will help here. A trick to getting a party is to ask some of the level 70+ players who are here after fighting Behemoth/King Behemoth. You'll already have 18 people that way.
