Summary

It all started with a letter sent to Kazham's chieftainness by the young Windurstian artist, Angelica. Now, no one can stop the budding painter.

Walkthrough

Speak to Etteh Sulaej in Kazham to begin the quest. She is the Mithra located closest to the chieftainess. You will be given a key item: Letter to Angelica.

Travel to Windurst Waters. Angelica is in a room above the Rarab Tail Hostelry. Speak to her. In return for delivering the letter, she will give you two key items: Angelica's Letter and a painting called, oddly enough, "Final Fantasy". She apparently wants the painting hung in the gallery of the Temple of Uggalepih.

Return to Kazham and speak to Etteh Sulaej again. After a cutscene you will be instructed to hang the picture in the Temple yourself.

Go to the Temple of Uggalepih, enter through the main entrance from Yhoator Jungle. On (G-8) of that map is a room with a Stone Picture Frame (this is the same room which has the door which you need the Uggalepih key for). Clear the room of Tonberries first, then examine the Stone Picture Frame to get a brief cutscene and an NM golem named Trompe L'Oeil will spawn.

After the golem is dead, examine the picture frame again to get the new key item: Ripped Final Fantasy Painting. After you have the new key item, return to Etteh Sulaej for a brief cutscene and your reward of 3000 gil.

Went and got quest in Kazham with my fiance. We went to Windy and had to do a side quest for Angelica first (where you wear a certain outfit and she paints your picture) but then after zoning in and out we got the rest of it from here.

Went back to Kazham and talked to Etteh again and then went to Temple of Uggalepih, first we went to the paintbrush of souls room and clicked the Stone Picture Frames but nothing happened then realized we had to be at G-8 thanks to another's post.

Got there and popped NM. It was really easy, my fiance was 75 DRK/NIN and I was 75 RDM/BLM. It took a bit long because it had a lot of HP but I just used Stoneskin and he used shadows (he used about 15 shihei) and drained a bit and I cured some but it was very easy. I enfeebed as well but that was it.

After it was defeated he clicked on it and received the key item but we had to fight it again so I could get it. Good luck all hope this helped!

NPC 50 cap
# Jul 05 2006 at 1:31 AM Rating: Decent
I can say without any doubt that this quest DOES interfere with the NPC 50 cap quest, "Picture Perfect". If this quest is started, you will not be able to start your npc 50 cap quest... No one wants to help me fight this thing, and soloing him sounds very risky (at least 16,000 hp, and if you melee, be prepared to eat a LOT of AoE that eats shadows), so my question is, is there an NPC or ANYTHING anywhere that can remove this quest so I can do my npc 50 cap? PLEASE, I am really stuck here, and leveling my npc is one of the few things left in the game that I really enjoy... Thank you
Help please?

I tried to complete this quest yesterday and ended up making 3 separate (fruitless! >.<) trips into the "Paintbrush of Souls" room.

The Chieftanness even gave me the dialogue which prompted me to go hang the picture in the Temple of Uggly but she wouldn't "be there to save me if I got into trouble" (or something similar)...

I talked to Angelica and her dialogue doesn't even seem related... same with Etteh Sulaej... >.<

I have no idea why this quest isn't advancing for me! Why won't this silly NM pop? T.T
Help please?

i'm not sure if this is the answer to the quest, but you're going too far into the temple, there is a room located at (G-8) on the first map(the one that you enter from ground level in yhoator), and there is a "Stone Picture Frame" located on the wall, and this is where you spawn the NM for this quest.
Failed

Has anyone failed at this? I was doing ZM4 and I poped it not knowing it would pop an NM. My party wasn't ready so we waited but it despawned. I went to the picture and it just says "There is a ripped Final Fantasy" and I get no key item. Please someone help.

I went as a 70 WHM/BLM with a 75 PLD/THF (so he could steal things while we farmed for stuff). I pretty much sat on my butt regaining MP and threw some enfeebles here and there, a haste and regen when they wore, and stoneskin when it wore due to the NM's various elemental AOEs.

The PLD had little MP left after the battle, but could have got it all back with Spirit Taker.

The NM is a golem that resisted my Elemental Seal + Sleep (so PLD couldn't Sneak Attack + Trick Attack) and resisted spells such as Choke (but not Drown).

This battle took a while, but it wasn't hard. Also at 70 the tonberries in the room don't aggro unless you're resting which is no problem if you cast invisible on yourself first.
No Conflict.

I figured that I'd put in my findings concerning the alleged conflict between this quest and Windurst Mission 7-2.

Basically, folks are concerned because the walkthrough for the Windurst Mission 7-2 states that you need to talk to the Chieftaness in order to progress through that mission... but that is flat-out wrong. I did Mission 7-2 this evening, and I've had this quest active for months now. It is still active, and it is still incomplete, but I am now Rank 8 Windurst, meaning that I was able to complete that mission just fine, even while having this quest active.

Yes, it is true that Jacoh Wakando will only talk to you about this quest if you talk to her while trying to do M7-2... but that's because you don't have to talk to her at all for M7-2.

(For the record, I also had this quest active before I did Zilart Mission 4, and the chieftaness gave me the correct text for that when I needed it. Then, when that mission was done, she went back to saying the text for this quest.)

Doesn't matter.

Having this quest active will not interfere with Windy 7-2.
I had this quest and 7-2 both active, and did them on the same day.
Done 7-2 first, and right after that we went to the NM.
It doesn't matter what Jakoh says, be sure that Romaa Migho tells you to head to the Temple though.

I have tested this, and I can guarantee 100%, that if you are on this quest and try to do windurst 7-2, Jakoh Wahcondalo will not tell you about it.
She will say
"You're on this boat for the long hual, mister. You jump off now, you'll be taking down someone's dreams with you.
But, you stay on too long, and you might sink anyway..."
and nothing else until you complete the F'ing quest.

Gaah.

I accepted this quest without knowing what I was getting myself into. It prevents me from talking to the chieftaness for a Windurst mission, does anyone know if there is a way to cancel this quest? I can't solo it and I don't really want to get a party together just to do this, but I need to do the windurst 7.2 mission ><;

Did this quest last Sunday, and as usual I did not check the forum on this quest - so I had no idea how hard he was. I duo'd this NM as 73SAM/THF with my friend, a 73WHM/BLM, and the battle lasted about 10min or so. When I noticed I was hardly making a dent in his HP, I was thinking a tele might be good, but we decided to fight anyways. My recommedation is to use meditate (gekko) > 2hr (kasha, gekko, kasha) for two fragmentation sc, and that did wonders. However, the reward sucks >.<

This quest was done quite reluctantly, and I had no idea what kind of pain in the behind it was until I was in the unfortunate den of evil known as Temple of Uggalepih.

First, a word of warning to Windurstians around rank 7 -- this quest seems to interfere with a part of Windurst Mission 7-2. I could not get Jakoh Wackdsofhdsferknedsf (aka le Chieftess) to talk to me about the Mission. Instead, she kept refering to Angelica. I groused, and I grumbled, but eventually I had to do something to kill time for Astral Flow recount and I decided to get this done.

My two friends, a 75 BLM and a 72 WHM and I (63WHM/31BLM at the time) marched into Uggalepih and headed to the Paintbrush of Souls room. The BLM our Tonberry friends asleep as I examined the two paintings there... nope. No dice. Then we read we had to go to G-8... by the way, this is on the first map. That helped us a lot, to know that.

The place is fairly big, and it pays to get rid of the tonberries. By this time we'd discovered there'd be an NM, but we figured we'd pwn him like Temple Guardian. Oh no. No, no, no. This guy's mean.

I examined the the empty frame and the NM spawned -- the BLM threw Thunder IV and it took off like... a barely noticable chunk from his HP bar. That's when we went "Hmmm." Luckily for us, our BLM friend was BLM/RDM, and began kiting the monster with Gravity. He would throw random Thunder IV or Thundaga III, and my WHM friend and I were throwing Banish II and Banishga II (sadly, neither of us had Banish III). We had a couple of repops, but we were never in any danger, and were able to bind the golem and rest our MP the one time we needed to without difficulty.

The paltry reward for this quest is a slap in the face. But, at least I can do Rank 7-2 now. I already had the key item from doing ZM3 and preparing for ZM4, so I'm not sure I even needed to complete this quest, but it's nice to be sure. Wouldn't wanna waste a key or anything ; ;

Bring a lot of people with bows/bolts/guns and magic and try to beat him up quick. Otherwise, kite him and be ready to deal with repops.

I think you have to complete Angelica's quest where you model for her because I have the quest and every time I speak with her she keeps asking me to model for her.
Not sure though, jsut a random thought

Duoed this NM with a BRD71 friend as WHM69, I think. Took us probably 10-15 minutes, was definitely kinda scary, but good fun. Entertaining fight.

Last night I was in the temple with two other members of my static party, looking for wespes to kill for our RDM.
All of us were level 63.

Since we all had this quest, we decided to go ahead and hang our paintings.

None of us had read up on the quest, and were unprepared for the NM spawn.

Fortunately, we had already crealed out the Tonberries, but when the NM spawned, and I saw "Impossible to gauge", I panicked.

Well, panic isnt the right word, but when I saw that after three or four rounds of combat, we hadn't made a dent in its HP, I let loose my 2hr, Hundred Fists.

This, however, put the hate squarely on me, and though our RDM/BLM did her best to keep me healed, I eventually died.
I/we did manage to take him down to a quarter of his HP though, before I died.

After getting raised, we decided to try it again, this time making sure that my wife (our party's NIN/WAR tank) established hate and tanked the thing.

Keeping cooler heads, the WAR and I used Reverberation skillchain 3 times on him, and we beat him without real trouble.

We did it a third time, after a WHM friend of our showed up, and it was even easier.

Now I wish I hadn't been so hasty to use my 2hr, but waited a bit longer to see how the battle would go. Then I wouldn't have died ^^

...if you wait about 1 RL week after finishing this and talk to Etteh Sulaej again... you'll find out that that kind-hearted Angelica was ever-so-mad that her first 'final fantasy' got ripped up... she made another and sent it over >.> /joy

So, you guessed it, you get to do this, erm... Again. With key item 'Final Fantasty PartII' go back to the same room, repeat same event as before, triggers a different golem NM. Seemed a little meaner than the first--killed with a PT of 4 averaging lvl65 while we were trying to dig up items for Zilart4. I'll submit a full write-up once I go back to Kazham *shrugs*. Based on exp it gave I'd say this 2nd NM is lvl60.

This quest is repeatable - After zoning I came back and was given part II of the painting, and told that Angelica wants it hung up. Going back to the temple and hanging this up spawned the same golem NM as before, and got me the same "Ripped Painting" key item. Reward was still 3000 gil. (After zoning again I managed to pick it up a third time, easy money to make while you're passing through the temple =P).

While I was going for my paintbrush key item, I placed the painting without knowing what would happen. (The gallery is in same area.) A NM Golem appeared on my unsuspecting party. We escaped out because 4 tonberry starting attacking at same time. The golem didn't see to be too hard, so I expect a lvl 60+ party should be ok.

After getting quest, go to Windhurst Waters (north) and talk to Angelica (painter on 2nd floor, near the priest for teleport quest). You will receive 2 key items: 1 a letter for the chieftainness, the other a painting she was you to hang in Uggalepih Temple (painting is called Final Fantasy :p )
Return to Khazam and talk to Etteh again. The chieftainness will say you'll have to hang it yourself in the temple (high level place, 55-75 mobs there).
This is as far as i went. Planning on going there soon, but would love to know if anyone has any hints about that part. Locations inside, directions, etc.
