Summary

Journey to the Yuhtunga Jungle and retrieve a piece of firebloom woo from the most fire-resistance side of the Firebloom Tree. To check the most fire-resistance side, you must take a vine from each side of the tree to Ifrit's Cauldron for testing.

Description

She wants a (key item) Firebloom Tree wood - which does not burn even when thrown into the inferno of Ifrit's Cauldron. There is a tree called the Firebloom Tree, which is supposedly protected by flames, where you must get the wood from the most heavily guarded area. To determine this area, you must first retrieve four vines from its four sides, then you must take those four vines to a place in Ifrit's Cauldron where fire spits up from the rocks. Throw the four vines into the flames, and the one that remains is from the most protected side. Then go back to the jungle and cut off some Firebloom tree wood.

Repeatable?
# Oct 29 2007 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
I just did this quest twice in a row, it seems to be repeatable. The first time through the northern vine withstood the heat, the second time it was the western vine. The question now is do I have the patience to do it 2-3 more times to see if it is a pre-req for another quest, or if it is just repeatable? Anyone already know the answer?
one that remains...

i went to the flame spout with all 4 vines...only one burned... i went back and nothing happened so i went back to check the tree...nothing.

i'll try it again later. side note: i went uninvis beside the bomb to do this, then ran past it(in the direction it was facing) and it didn't aggro, i think these only aggro magic. could be wrong, if i die i'll edit >.>

Just one thing to add: although you have to "cut off some wood" from the Firebloom Tree at the end of the quest, you do not need a hatchet. Just click the side of the tree that corresponds with your remaining key item.
bombs

its quite difficult to see the bomb as they move in and out of the flames of the spout, it takes abit of patience. there are ocasions when the flames subside just enough to give a clear view of the bomb to let you know if its facing you or not, i have no idea if they can se you through the flames and wasn't keen to find out. when you select the spout an event type box pops up, dont wait for it just hit enter as it pops up, the first option is "yes"

Vana'diel Atlas This site has a very good Ifrit's Cauldron map (well, it has very good maps of EVERY zone, truthfully). It's the one I used to find both my coffer (for the map, not for any AF), and to do this quest just a little while ago. It has the Flame Spouts marked. You only have to check three Flame Spouts to do this quest, so I'd suggest staying away from the one behind the Ash Dragon. Best not to risk him seeing you. ;)

I did this quest as a NIN40/WHM20, by the way. Tonko: Ni does not draw magic aggro, and I only had to cast Sneak occasionally. It was never very hard to find safe spots to cast it, either. The quest is probably a bit harder if you don't have your Ifrit's Cauldron map, but as long as you have the online map linked above, you should be fine. Good luck, fellow quest lovers! :)
ZM 5 + Firebloom Tree

The best thing is to make this Ques next to the ZM-5 and with at least 12 people level 65+. The Bombs in Ifrit Cauldron get agro by Magia and sight and are IT to 66.

Does anybody have locations for the flame spouts?

I have only been able to find one. Entering Ifrit's from the eastern zone, if you take a right at the first fork and then follow the path its just a short distance in. Position is H-6.

Please, if you're a miner or you've done this quest and you know the locations, please post them!

Ifrit's Cauldron is at the north end of Yhaotar Jungle.

The tree isn't guarded by flames. There's an Overgrown Rosebush wandering around between the roots, but that's it.

Once in Ifrit's Cauldron, you need to find a Flame Spout. These are hard to miss as they are literally a wall of flame blocking the path. Use the flame spout, and you'll get a message back indicating that one of the vines you cut burned up while the remaining ones are fine. Then I imagine you have to run off and find another flame spout.

The complication is the fact that each flame spout is guarded by a bomb, and if you don't want to agro the bomb, you have to wait until its looking the other way, run up, use the flame spout, and run off, all before it turns around and without casting any spells (bombs agro to magic).
