Mission Orders

At the request of the Orastery, you are to go to the southwestern magic tower of the Horutoto Ruins, located in West Sarutabaruta. Deep within you will find a laboratory, where you are ordered to switch on the magical gizmo.

Walkthrough

To start the mission, go to any gate guard and accept the "Full Moon Fountain" mission. You are asked to go to the Orastery in Port Windurst. Go there and speak with Hakkuru-Rinkuru to receive a cutscene. Ajido-Marujido comes in and tells you to go to the Southwestern Tower at (F-11) in West Sarutabaruta. You will receive a key item: Southwestern Star Charm to open the door.

Head to the tower in West Sarutabaruta (F-11). When you enter, you should be in the Dahlia Tower. Go inside and go right, left, left, straight, right, right, and you will see a cracked wall in the next room. Yes, you kinda went in a circle. Go through the cracked door, and straight ahead of you is another. Go through that door, and you will see the Door to the room you need to get to. Upon clicking the door, you will see the message "A GUARDIAN IS BLOCKING YOUR WAY!" and the Jack of Batons, Jack of Coins, Jack of Cups, and Jack of Swords will spawn (all at once). All are around level 60-62.

There are two ways to do the fight itself. You can do it the cheap way or the real way. I did it the cheap way so.. I can only give help there. Put sneak up or have someone put it on you, and activate the spawn. They won't aggro if you have sneak on. Make sure you or someone else has summoning abilities. Summon Carbuncle or whatever you wish, and have it attack one. I took the Jack of Coins (RDM) and it was very easy. Let it come back to you and you can do 1 of two things. You have to wait for the other 3 to de-spawn before killing the one you pulled. So you can either sleep/lullaby it while you wait (Takes 2-3 minutes roughly for them to de-spawn) or whack at it until it's almost dead and then wait for the others to de-spawn then proceed to kill it. In any case, once it is dead go check the door and you will get a cutscene (If you want to do the fight the real way, I'd advise having an alliance of people, or a handful of 70+ could probably take it if they are good).

After the cutscene, return to the Orastery and speak with Hakkuru-Rinkuru. He will tell you that Ajido-Marujido went to the "central tower" of the Horutoto Ruins (where Toramarai Canal is), and asks you to bring him back. Toramarai Canal can be found in the tower near Spiny Spipi's spawn (J-7 of East Sarutabaruta). Upon entering, hang a right once you get to the large room. Go into the room in the corner there, and go through the cracked wall. Follow the path until you get to the room with the door with 3 circles in front of it.

This door can be opened 1 of 2 ways. The first way is to get a white mage, black mage, and red mage to stand on each of the corresponding circles (by color). If you did mission 3-2 and didn't skip it, you are able to get a charm (key item) to open the door. Trade a Rolanberry to Kupipi in Heaven's Tower to receive the key item (only if you completed 3-2). After going through the door just follow the path to zone into Toramarai Canal.

Once you go in, follow the path until you come to a T and go left. Follow the left wall once you get into the canal, continuing until you find a bridge crossing over to the right side. Cross it and follow the right wall going in the same direction that you were, and when you come to stairs leading down into the water take them. Go south and then head west when you can, following the tunnel until you come out and go up the stairs in front of you, and head North (you'll turn around from where you were going) and follow the wall. Go south into a hall when you see it, and follow the right wall now. Don't go into the middle of this room; just follow the right wall until you get to the north hallway heading into a hall with stairs. After following this path you will come to a Large Stone Door, which will lead you to Full Moon Fountain. Enter to see the cutscene where you and Ajido-Marujido will make a narrow escape. After the cutscene you will have completed the mission; you do not need to return to Windurst to finish it.

this fight was very easy for me, i had me as 57 whm, a 75 pld and his 2 friends a blm and sam. was overkill really, but better safe than dead :P
i subbed smn and carby pulled cups, then batons and went to pull another and they despawned. well off to the canal for part 2 of mission /panic
easy

Just finished this with a trio - me (58 rng), 66 smn, 61 rdm. We pulled the whm with fenrir, got a link with a Ten cardian, so I solo killed the ten. Fenrir rattled off some offensive blood pacts to gain hate, and just tanked the whole way. We held back on damage until the others despawned (about 5-7 minutes in) and then just wasted him. I pulled hate toward the end and was getting hit for about 100 per shot, so a paladin my level could have easily tanked it.

Soloed this easily as DRG74/WHM37 sneak pull one of them and just used the normal solo strategy for a DRG.

Soloed this as WHM75/SMN37. Pulled the WHM Cardian with Carbuncle and just meleed it. Took about 15-20 mins to kill. Other 3 Jack Cardians despawned while I was fighting.

Ended up using 4 Yagudo Drinks, 2 Hi-Ethers, and 4 Hi-Potions; finished the battle with 360HP, 60MP, and 20 EXP^^; Seven and Ten Cardians were casting Regen and Cure on the Jack I was fighting, even though they were out of link range, so that was somewhat annoying.

I first attempted as SMN63/WHM31 by kiting it with Carbuncle. However, Meteorite was only doing about 90-250 damage and I ended up running out of MP after only getting its HP down half way (after it used Benediction).

But this would definitely be easy with a duo of Lv75s.

question:
did they change this mission? cuz i got the key item when i had my cutscene at the orastry.
RE: change??

Actually, you use that key item to first spawn the cardians, then open the door after the fight..

Hope this helps..

Good question. I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. I went to the orastery and saw the cutscene where Ajido-Marujido tells me to go to the ruins and then when it was over I got the southwestern charm. I am not sure what the deal is.

so beat this the other day with some friends, and others. we had two parties, levels ranging from 54-68. So we were definately over powered. Made it down there no problem, almost everyone brought oils but we had plenty of sneakers so that was good. We had someone pop the cardians sneaked, and then a blm/smn carby pulled the RDM. killed it no links (we pulled as far back as possible, mages up against the door). Then we pulled the WHM. By the time it was dead (which wasn't very long) the other two had despawned, and we all went and got our cutscene. Then the BLM went snaged some screenies of Fenrir since we were there. All in all, not really that hard. A party of low 60's i think could easily pwn this mission as long as they pull one at a time. Fighting all 4 at once would have been hard for even my party i think.
Problems in Toraimarai

Did it last night with 7 people: after we killed WHM and BLM cardians, the others despawned. We think we had screwed everything and planned a new fight. However, when we touched the door we got the cutscene. So, it seems SE didn't remove the trick.

The Toraimarai Canal ended up being the hardest part of the mission: all we knew was we had to go to (F-8). Since I knew the way to the Wendigo room (ref. Aspir Quest and Three Mages mission, I escorted myself a lot of people there) I was able to guide the alliance. After entering Toraimarai, however, it was a blind walk. All the mobs were easy prey (aggro sound and link), but we got aggro and linking several times, almost getting wiped out.

Finally did this last night! Here is the set up!

58 BLM/29 WHM Taru
58 DRK/29 WAR Galka
57 WHM/28 BLM Taru
50 PLD/25 WAR Hume
50 WHM/50 WAR Galka

Got owned the first time! I had WHM cast Sneak on me I went up and touched the door, they popped, and I ran back right to the entrance to the big room. Once I started to cast Carby they ALL aggroed me.

Banishga II 250 Hit Points
Thunder II 238 Hit Points taken
Banish II 240 Hit Points taken

Gidion was defeated by Jack of Cups!

So I get raised we rest and here's the second outcome!

Popped them with Sneak on again..I run all the way back to opposite door zone point cast Carby...have WHM cast Sneak and Invis this time...walk to the point where Jack of Cups is at about 10 feet away have carby attack.....meet party all the way back at opposite door....Carby dies and here comes Jack of Cups!

Battle starts off good...Jack is getting owned....HP is halfway gone then it gets bad! JACK OF CUPS CASTS CURE IV! Full HP again! No biggie..here we go again! We're all getting low on MP then JACK DOES IT AGAIN AND CASTS CURE III!
HP wasnt all the way full only 3/4 the way! NEVER DID WE THINK OF CASTING DIVINE SEAL AND SILENCE.....we were too busy keeping eachother alive now! Well, Jack is almost dead about 10% HP left and guess what? ....You guessed it...CURE III! So me being pissed off everyones HP between 20%to 50% I 2hr Manafont and call "Casting Burst" Burst hits for 468 Hit Points! I get major hate I get down to 43 HP and WHM decides to save us all and uses "Benediction"! Jack is almost dead so I decide to cast..."Quake"...now...Quake is about 50% cast and Manafont wears off! WHAT ELSE CAN GO WRONG?! Well, WHM dies off the Bene hate...DRK is next to go..Jack starts working on PLD and I cant nuke anything else but Thunder, Water, Fire, Aero...etc.....needless to say we get the last few hits in and Jack finally dies! I go touch the door and get my cutscene! DAMN JACK OF CUPS!

Results: 6-1 complete but I deleveled to 57 and I need 40xp to 58.
WHM used raise II on DRK so not much xp lost, however, WHM lost 1000xp! All I can say is I have great friends in Fenrir always willing to help!

Thanks Carlitos, Mireya, Hory, and Megatron for your help in this. Now its time to help Hory get Rank 5 and Carlitos do 5-1!

Good thing you didn't. Divine Seal only increases the potency of healing magic. You'd want Elemental Seal for debuffs like Silence. ^^

So now i can tell you the new trick after finishing this mission lastnight. Hopefully , it'll be around for a while before the SE fixes it again...:).

Pull one cardian with carby as suggested. Pull whm this time which is the jack of cups. The trick is NOT to kill it till the other 3 despawn.

So bring it to about a quarter left of HP, disengage and wait for the other 3 to despawn, then kill it. Whm is the easiest for this because it does the least dmg while you are waiting. You wont have to wait so long.

I did this twice, once just lastnight. So its confirmed to work..well till some SE reads this post or someone reports it and they fix it...:)

Rated down for bs info.

I spawned the Cardians tonight with a team of three, SMN subbed to my WHM. We pulled the Jack of Cups back and owned him. We waited for despawn and talked to the Magical Gizmo.

You get the following message:

`The door will not open, even with the southwestern star charm`
`A mysterious force is interfering.`

Well there's your problem you were supposed to wait for the others to despawn before you actually killed the cardian... pay attention before you rate down someone's post for bad information.

Its not BS info. That might have worked before but doesnt anymore.
But there's a new trick. I discovered it lastnight purely accidental. Yes, we only killed the cups one. I didnt have the charm keyitem which i thougth i did. So i didnt get it done but my party members all did. Well, the good and bad thing about this were that i discovered the new trick by not completing it. So, I dont want to tell you till i finished it. I dont want the SE to fix it yet...hahaha...:). I'll be shouting on carbuncle soon for this mission, come along if you need it.

Everyone who needs to complete the mission needs to resneak and touch the door after you kill the 1 Cardian. Upon touching the door after the Cardian is dead you will receieve a Cutscene.

Trick to this mission. First you need a summoner. Have the summoner sneak up and touch the door. The 4 Jack cardians will spawn but no agro. (agro by sound not sight). Next SUMMONER pull one of the weaker Cardians,(ya know with carby) cups or coins. Bring it away from the other 3.. out of sneak range and kill it. Now wait for the other 3 cardians to depop. Congrations you won the fight. (If you dont beleive me... try it and sneak up and touch the door after the other 3 depop). After instead of walking to the other Tower in East Sarabaruta, use Escape. Escape will leave you outside of the very tower for the journey through Tormailal Canal. Mission made simpler.

I spawned the cardians (BLM43, it really scared me seeing a game message in CAPS and an EXCLAMATION POINT!) and they didn't aggro me. scared the CRAP out of me though... Escaped right after I got over the initial shock. I did have Sneak on, but they didn't aggro to my spell.

my alliance didn't have a brd but we had about 5 blm's. since i was the highest lvl, i was first to elemental seal sleepga II them. the spell stuck easy, however, when they woke up i died very fast with blink and stoneskin up. i suggest that if you have a blm line up for ES sleepga then have the next blm to take care of sleep by just sitting and waiting to push enter. otherwise you'll get a dead taru.

Wanted to share my experiences since my new LS just did it yesterday:

The Gathering

When I got to the designated meeting point Heaven's tower about 7-8 people were waiting already, I happily passed out my newly minted LS pearls and we started chatting a bit. Overall a fun group of people. Slowly more people sent me “/tells” asking if their friends could come, and our number ballooned to about 12, then 15 picking up a stragglers at the end. To my surprise, we had quite a few really high levels, Marz, 75 SAM, Orophin 75 PLD, Benediction, 72/73 WHM.

It took us a bit to get organized, making sure everyone had the mission and the key items, and on we went.

6-1 Part A Jack Cardians

This part was a cinch as we’d all predicted. I appointed the official sleeper – thanks Slinger, the official tank and provoker – thanks Orophin and we nailed the Jack Cardians in the order of Coin -> Cup -> Baton -> Sword. There was no contest, the entire fight was over in about 2 minutes. Spirits were really high as we went into the cut scene. Plenty of comments about “we raped them”, “massive over-kill etc”. All of which was entirely true, considering Mystery Tour says this could be done with 10 level 60, and we had 15 players ranging from 61 to 75.

6-1 Part B Full Moon Fountain

Nobody was very clear on what to do here, since most sites and forums had minimal description about the 2nd part of this mission. A couple of the alliance even thought we were done with 6-1 after beating the Jack Cardians.

Luckily Slinger had already done this and was just helping out, he started leading us to J7 in East Sarabaruta for the correct tower, and we went through the 3 mage door to the wendigo room for Test Answers. Unfortunately some folks were not following close and got stuck outside. I escaped out to let them in, since I have the Portal Charm Key Item. (If you are doing this with an alliance, make sure the entire alliance is following closely! Of course this part is really soloable if you have the portal charm and know where to go)

We went through the gate to Toratorai Canal, and started a really long and confusing walk. Good thing Varinthe knew the way and the majority of the alliance followed him. I was one of the stragglers becaue Zerokio DCed, between getting him back, and making sure Rudo who went AFK had a sneaker, I let Varinthe out of my sights and couldn’t find him anymore. Unfortunately someone in my straggler group had his sneak drop and we had major agro and link, had to kill about 3 leeches, a couple of crabs and a makara. Cyrus ran back to sneak Stamp and others in his group, thanks Cyrus! After re-sneaking, we finally followed the map west to hit the fountain and cut scene. Escape out, success on completing 6-1. This part actually took much longer than the fight because of the long walk, and some confusion.

By this point Orophin had to leave so we bid him goodbye.

Just to give my 2 cents. I just beat this with 2 other people

75rdm/blm
71smn/whm
61whm/blm

We beat them fairly easily. I sleepga'd them right away, and we just picked them off one at a time. I got down to about half HP once, but that was because I didn't pay attention and forgot to recast stoneskin.

I've had {Windurst} {Mission} 6-1 in my comment search for over a month. Only one other LS member is from Windurst and Rank6. Got a /tell in Jeuno about a party forming. Party setup:

74 Rdm/War
68 Brd/Whm
?? ??/??
61 Whm/Blm
60 Rdm/Blm (me)
?? Blm/Whm

The ?? ??/?? person dropped out. They were Rank 6, but had accepted the repeatable Written in the Stars mission.

So, our group of mages set out to conquer Rank 7. Got to the SW Horo tower. Lvl 74 Rdm tanked. He kept Stoneskin, Phalanx, and Blink up. Brd Slept with Rdms and Blms back-up sleeping as neccessary. We all melee-ed ^^b, used weapon skills and nuked. It was slow killing, but the Brd was easily able to keep the Cards asleep. Killed the cardians, finished the quest (it's fairly easy to get to Full Moon Fountain).

Did this last night, some addition information and correction to the guide posted. I had tried to remember as many things as possible, but please add on or correct it if needed :

*******************************************

Go to any gate guard to start the mission.

Accept the “Full Moon Fountain” Mission from them. (You may need to donate crystals if this mission is not available to you after Shadow Lord Mission)

Once you accept the mission, you are told to go to the Orastery in Port Windurst (E7) right away.

When you arrive at the Orastery and talk to Hakkuru-Rinkuru (Taru on the stage), a cut scene happens, Ajido-Marujido comes in and tells you to go to the southwestern tower in West Sarutabaruta, and to press the switch in the laboratory to activate the magic towers. You will receive the “southwestern star charm”, which is a key item.

Head to West Sarutabaruta and enter Outer Horutoto Ruins (Southwestern tower - F10/11). The 4th map listed in the link provided below is where you will zone to.

http://www.jesterx.com/ffxi/clickable_map/Sarutabaruta/Outter_Horutoto_Rns/Outter_Horutoto_Ruins.htm

You will have to pass through 2 crack walls (I8) to reach the NM area. Once there, clear the cardians there so as to avoid links. According to one of our helpers, there are 3 sprawns (one after another)of cardians. NOTE : Please brief ALL who are doing the mission NOT to click on the door before anyone is ready for the fight. Clicking on the door with the current mission WILL sprawn the 4 NMs.

Once ready, assign one person to click the door to sprawn the NMs. You will fight 4 Jack Cardians, namely : Jack of Cups (WHM), Jack of Coin (RDM), Jack of Baton (BLM) & Jack of Sword (PLD). We fight in the sequence of Baton - Cup - Coin - Sword.

Once you have defeated them, examine the door. It will state that your charm is broken/disappear (?), and a cutscene starts.

After cutscene, if there's a Black Mage in the party, cast Escape and you will appear at the entrance of Inner Horutoto Ruins - East Sarutabaruta (J7). NOTE : You do not need to go back to Orastery to talk to Hakkuru-Rinkuru, but if you want, you can.

* Upon heading back to the Orastery, Hakkuru-Rinkuru will tell you that Ajido-Marujido wants you to head to the central tower of the Horutoto Ruins. By this he means Toraimarai Canal. *

Zone to the Ruins where you were escaped to [Inner Horutoto Ruins - East Sarutabaruta (J7)]. Head to Toraimarai Canal.

http://www.jesterx.com/ffxi/clickable_map/Sarutabaruta/Toraimarai_Cnl/Toraimarai_Canal.htm

You will need Sneak Only. In the canal at F-8 (1st map) is the entrance to Full Moon Fountain. When you enter, cutscene starts.

After the cutscene, the mission is completed. You will not receive a title or reward.

You can proceed to any gate guards to accept the next mission - Saintly Invitation
